    Hello

Folder Windows.Old has nothing to do with the Hibernate. If uou wishes, you can remove it using cleaning system, not normal to delete, to explore. The following steps see the way in which:

    1. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking on the button start . In the search box, type and then disk cleanup in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

If you are prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    2. In the dialog box disk cleanup, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click on clean up system files.

If you are again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    3. Select the check box Previous Windows installations and the other check boxes for files that you want to remove, and then click OK.

    4. In the message that appears, click on delete files.

  • Windows.Old files

Due to errors, I reinstalled windows 7 on my laptop for the 4th time and have almost no memory.  I have 3 windows.old files that take up a lot of place and wonder if it is safe to delete these.

    Hello

As these files contain only files from your previous installations, if you have everything you need for personal data, etc., you can safely remove them.

For more information on how to do this, see the document from Microsoft at the following link.

  • Can I safely remove the Windows.old files?

What's up guys?, I have a Compaq Presario supplied with the Windows Vista operating system, 32-bit. I backed up all my drivers on DVD and I downloaded a clean copy of Vista using an ISO on a DVD burner. I reinstalled the new copy put in my original product key, and he agreed. I reinstalled my drivers and all seems to work fine. I transferred all my data, mp3, jpeg, etc. for Flash readers and/or new programs on the new OS. The reason for the new OS was a virus infection which partially damaged the registry.  I really want to keep these files in the system for obvious reasons. Can I safely delete the files "Windows.old" and what would be the best way to do it?

  • Cannot delete Windows.Old

I am the owner and the only user of my computer.  I have tried everything, including changing the permissions as safe.

I operate my computer by using the administrator account.  I have for the past nine years and have NEVER had any problems because I am a very attentive and careful user.  When I try to delete Windows.Old, a dialog box is telling me I need administrator permissions.

  • Windows 7 - cannot delete Windows.old

Windows 7 has created a Windows.old folder using Windows Easy Transfer and a massive file that was supposed to pass, among other things, e-mail data and accounts.  Windows 7 has none of them.  But now it throws an error telling me that I must be the administrator to delete.

    I AM THE ADMINISTRATOR.

I did the thing to click left and changed security on the file which saw the problem.  I am sure that administrator had full possession on the file.

I do not understand why a deletion should take five minutes, but I delete Windows.old again.  This time, Windows 7 threw an error telling me that I had to be the SYSTEM to remove it.  Even if I did not I a user of the SYSTEM, I added permission for SYSTEM to own the file and delete it.  Still no change cannot delete the file.

Cannot delete the file, cannot move the file outlook.pst Windows Easy Transfer failed that there is not enough room.  Cannot move that the outlook.pst file impossible to configure Outlook to get my emails.

Why Windows 7 has so many flaws?  It's like a child designed, programmed and it was approved for distribution.

I'm off to find a third-party tool to remove the file, unless someone has a practical suggestion.  No speculation please.  No Microsoft Apologetics please.   I have been the problems of Windows 7 for more than a week.

Not sure, but have you tried it - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/How-do-I-remove-the-Windows-old-folder (I must admit, sort of a sorry official - guess)

If all goes well, it can work.
