Hello:

You know more about what I do.

This article should help you decide what to do. If it was me, based on this article, I would not change the setting to DCIS.

  • Pavilion p6 - 2120t: Windows will not start with the new graphics card

Installed a Zotac GT 740 profile down in my desktop PC graphics card HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t and now the PC does not start.

HP Pavilion p6 - 2120t CTO desktop PC

    Configuration:
    Intel Pentium CPU [email protected]
    4.0 GB RAM
Intel HD Graphics Driver version Family: 8.15.10.2291 dated 27/01/2011
Motherboard: IPISB-CU (Carmel2) (1 open PCI Express 16 expansion slot pins)

    BIOS to Version 7.18

    Running:
    Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit w/service pack 1
Two monitors (VGA, 1 digital port 1)

Before installing the new graphics card, I replaced the power supply original 300w with a 400w power supply.

For starters, I disabled the onboard graphics in Device Manager. Then, I opened the case and installed the GT-740 in the open PCI Express slot. I made sure that the card was fully engaged in the slot.

I plugged both monitors to their connections voted on the new map.

When I tried to boot the PC, the digital monitor displays the screen HP (the one that indicates which key support to achieve the start menu) and then frozen. No other entries of key or mouse have been accepted.

The PC then sounds 4 short beeps (about 10 seconds between each beep) and then a long beep before turning off the signal to the screen.

Then, I removed the new graphics card on the PC that starts then. I have reactivated the original graphics drivers and the PC then worked normally.

Tried the above process two more times with the same results.

I then went into the start menu to look at the BIOS. The menu of the BIOS shows two options:

    > Sources of boot UEFI

    Windows Boot Manager

    > Sources of boot legacy

    ATAP I CD/DVD player

    SATA2

    Hard drive

    SATA0

Network controller (Realtek PXE B06 D00)

PC using UEFI Boot Manager Windows boots normally

I have not tried Legacy Boot Sources because I don't know which one to choose.

I went to the HP site and looked for an update to the newest BIOS, but updating them is a rev version 7.16 while my PC shows my BIOS to version 7.18

I know that others have had a similar problem but I have not seen a solution that works for my PC.

    Any advice would be welcome.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello

Your PC isn't spec'd to run Windows 7 using the Windows Boot Manager.  I expect to a UEFI-based graphics card likely to work on an HP PC that does not have a BIOS version 8.

The below listed OEM HP, graphics cards should work in your PC using a normal non - UEFI W7 and W8 installation.

  • How to enable AHCI on my Pavillion m7 1015dx, contradictory to information.

I have a Pavillion m7 1015dx with windows 7. I installed a Samsung 840 pro series 512 GB SSD as my first with a clean installation of Windows 8 and made my 1 TB HDD as my secondary drive. My BIOS, insyde H2O F22 and is very limited and I can't determine if my storage controller is set to AHCI. All the forums I've read say more recent laptops are on AHCI by default. However when I run the Wizard software that came with Samsung SSD is says "AHCI is not enabled" and my bencmarks of reading/writing are 519 / 480 MB/s respectively, when this disc is announced 540 / 520 MB/s. Also when I run PC Matic which recognizes them SSD also claims AHCI is not enabled. Who should I believe? If it is how can not turned on I activate the AHCI. If it is on why these two other programs would state that it has not been activated? Even if read/write speeds are not as advertised that it starts in about 10 sec, even with the judgment. My concern is the life of the drive and if the TRIM is set correctly.

    Ruby4670 wrote:

Thank you. You have an idea why these two other programs of State AHCI is not enabled, I don't expect you to know the answer on this I was wondering. Thanks again.

These programs are looking for specific registry keys in the operating system to see if they are enabled.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesMsahci\\\
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\IastorV

That's why they tell you that it is not enabled.

The following image is from the office, I use that has a SSD as boot drive. The AHCI drivers are installed and activated.

  • Satellite A100-237 / PSAA9 - how to enable AHCI (SATA Native mode)?

    Hello

I have the Satellite A100 - 237 (PSAA9) and I would like to activate the AHCI (SATA Native mode). But in the BIOS there is no settings as AHCI or SATA mode.

Is it possible to enable it in any other way (hidden fixing, utility sw)? Or only new special BIOS for this update (I have the latest 5.90) can solve this problem?

    Thank you for the answers.

No response for the last 5 days. Of course, there is no special hidden parameter or BIOS. ;)

As far as I know that there is no hidden settings and also no special BIOS. If something like that exists perhaps for technicians and non-public use.

  • How to enable AHCI mode on computer laptop dv6-7280eb

    Hello

I just replaced my old hard drive to a new evo 840 Samsung SSD.

It's a laptop DV6-7280eb HP with windows 8.1 on it.

Software Wizard Samsungs tells me that AHCI is disabled.

If I look at Device Manager storage controllers it says Mobile Intel Express Chipset Sata RAID controller.

PC Wizard 2014 tells me this:

Disk controller: Intel 82801HM (ICH8M) 3 port SATA i/o Controller cc = RAID
    Mode: RAID
    AHCI: Yes
    Legacy IDE: Yes
    NCQ: Yes
    Port multiplier: No.
    eSATA: No.
    I/o ports: 1 available on 6
    AHCI Version: 1.30
    Bandwidth: 6 Gb/s

So is my question, possible to put in AHCI and RAID mode not?

    THX in advance

No, but you don't need to worry about this. RAID is fully compatible with a single SSD drive and provide the same benefits for the SSD as AHCI. It's really AHCI RAID where the AHCI = "yes".

  • How to install the ethernet driver for pavilion a808x on windows 7 (origin) supplied with XP

This computer was originally a copy of XP on it and I've upgraded to Windows 7 and now it won't let me connect to the internet and I went to check out the menu drivers and the ethernet driver was a yellow triangle next to him. I do not think that HP supports this model specific to windows 7? Any driver (hp or 3rd party) would be welcomed as long as it works, thanks!

The simplest solution would be to install a PCI network card. They are pretty cheap.

Windows 7 Realtek drivers are here. They were reported as does not.

  • Satellite A40-210 - how to recover XP but drive turns to run Windows 98?

OK, I have a dinausour: Satellite A40-210 but hey, it worked fine until a virus destroyed something decisive (or at least that's what I think), because Windows is no longer able to boot.

However, the error is given: system32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys is unavailable or broken.

I still have my recovery disks (all 3 of them)
    1: Tools & utilities CD-Rom
    2:product recovery 1 CD-Rom
    3:product recovery 2 CD-Rom

N ° 1 fails restart and recovery of product 1 CD-Rom turns 'recover' Windows 98.

Thing is, I want to recover at least some documents and pictures and if possible: get to use it again with all programs etc that have been installed on the hard drive...

    What/how do I?

As the message of 98 scares me: this will remove all previous information on the disk.

    Help, please!

    Hello

I think that your laptop comes with Windows 98, so the recovery disk contains the 98 Windows and not Windows XP. That of the point.

In addition it s not possible to reuse it with all programs and files on the HARD disk with the Toshiba Recovery disk because it erases the entire HARD disk.
You can only back up the data if you put the HARD internal drive in an external HARD drive enclosure. Then you can connect the HARD drive to another computer or laptop, and there you can save the data.
That s what you can do now.

But if you want XP back you need a Microsoft installation disc.

    Welcome them

Alternatively, use 3rd Party software, you will have to pay for:

Or get a drive for recovery of your computer manufacturer, or borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft and reinstall Vista,

    Read the info below:

How to get Vista recovery Media.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
