How to import a jpg in lightroom (5cc) without keywords

When I import jpg photos Lightroom automatically matter also all keywords. How can I stop this? The reason why I don't want them, is that I actually want to redo all my keywords/imports. I know it's a big pain, but I think it should be, as I learned how to do things more properly (in theory).

Lightroom 5.3 (cloud creative). Fully updated.

Windows 7.

If there are keywords in JPG files, I don't think there is a way to stop Lightroom from their reading.

However, it would be very easy to import all the jpg files in Lightroom and in a single action, delete all the keywords. In the library module, select all the photos (or pictures you want) and then go to the Keywording Panel, set the drop-down list of the "Enter keywords" and select all the keywords listed, then press BACKSPACE. They are gone!

There is nothing 'special' on bridge records. Bridge simply shows the folder in its location on your hard drive. To import into Lightroom, you use the Lightroom import dialog box, find the folder wherever it is on your computer system and import using the 'Add' option that can be selected at the top of the dialog box import.

  • How to import bridge labels in Lightroom 3.4

I have almost 500 000 images all carefully labeled in bridge.  They have color labels for: (red) second selection, (yellow), review, nothing (the labels of basic standard adobe created) custom.

After importing my entire collection in lightroom (27 hours) nothing remained of these labels.  Do this useless thing.

I can't imagine why two adobe products would not share by default like this or have I missed something obvious?

Does anyone know how to import the bridge labels in lightroom? (Keep in mind that I know nothing of lightroom so make baby steps)

    Thank you

    Yes, they do.

Let me make a little explanation how LR works, here:

Bridge and LR work differently, and it is important to understand this difference.

Bridge works as a file browser. Everything you put in a folder / or a road bridge will 'see' it (as long as it is tied to the image).

For example if you make a change of name for a picture file or folder in your OS, bridge has no harm to 'see' the modified file or folder.

LR works as a file browser. LR creates and works with a database called catalog. LR only "sees" an image file unless it is imported. Import means add it to the catalog. You can have any number of images on a disk / in a folder that LR doesn't "see" as long as they are not imported into LR.

This means that - in the case of a change in name of file or folder name that you do outside of LR (in bridge), for example - that LR cannot 'see' this folder / image file. LR still has this image / folder in the Catalog under its former name, and when she seeks, it can't find because the name has changed. LR flags then this file / folder as "missing". 'Missing' in this sense do not mean that the file / image is not on the disc; "missing" means that LR does not.

LR can also create, work with, and read the xmp files, also known as sidecar files. The XMP files are small files that contain some mnetadata, such as the camera settings, date & time, title, legend, etc. - but also to develop / modify metadata. When you use Camera Raw in Bridge and change the image, deck writes data in the xmp file. In addition, things like the star ratings and color labels are written to the xmp file.

These in LR, you will need to make LR read the xmp file. For this in the library Module will > metadata > read metadata from file.

But be careful here. When LR reads data from file which also means that everything that done you in LR (and have not saved in xmp), will be replaced when there is a conflict. For example, if you editing image in Bridge and end you image editing in LR (on the same image) and you then select 'Read metadata from a file', your changes-LR will be will be supplanted by bridge-changes.

To resolve this problem, you must make your image only editor LR. Also, it is recommended to save your changes of LR to xmp. Do you via Ctrl / Cmd + letter "S" or > metadata > save metadata to file. If you make this bridge can read and display your changes-LR.

    Hi kahnuck,

Please make sure that the camera should be listed as supported in the following article:

If it is supported, then make sure that in the window of import Destination option on the right should be expanded.

  • How to import a folder in lightroom without him move and import everything there?

Before, I used to select "synchronize the folder", select the subfolder, and then import them, and everything was dandy.  Now "synchronize the folder" is not an option to select.  All other methods I could think moving the files in the folder I created in another folder, not my choice.  By selecting the import button in the lower left corner does not work.  It's frustrating because I spend more time trying to read the crazy files in the program that I'm working on.  I lost hours!

I take it back.  I've just updated to 6.5 and it works properly now.

  • How to import files from RAW and jpg formats

If I shoot in RAW + JPG format images, there are two files for each image (a RAW and a JPG).  When I import into LightRoom, only the RAW files appear on the screen to import.  To import the JPG file, I need to download the jpgs from the card to the computer and then separately to import computer jpg files into LightRoom.

How can I get the RAW and JPG images formats appear in the import window?  I have an iMac, import images from the card via a card reader and use LR CC 2015.

In your Lightroom preferences, there is an option to treat JPEG files next to raw separate image files. If you check this option, then Lightroom will import JPEG images, but also raw images. Once you select this option you can synchronize files that have already been imported and JPEG images will be added to the catalog.

I recently had to rebuild the computer and reinstalled the photos.  I have photos imported into Lightroom, but the parameters associated with the photos, that is to say. When they were developed, are not there.  How to import these?

Default LR stores all changes in the catalog file, not in the pictures. So if you have a backup of your original catalog you will need to copy on the newly rebuilt system and open it in LR. You will then need to recreate a link to the images in the catalog depending on where are your images and where the original LR catalogue think they are.
