How to open my home page in a new tab in firefox 13, as I had done for years?
Since I've just updated to firefox 13, I can customize is no longer where a new tab opens with the 'new new tab page"feature. I got my new tab open to my homepage for years, this is how I am used to it, and it's frustrating that I've now spent so much time trying to get around this new "convenience". Just to clarify: I would like that my new tabs to open to my home page. not a white page and not frequently visited tab page.
You can change it if you don't mind not peeking under the covers in Firefox about: config preferences editor.
(1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.
(2) in the filter box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered
(3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter the desired value:
(i) (default) Page thumbnails
browser.newtab.url = about:newtab
(ii) Virgin tab
browser.newtab.url = about:blank
(iii) integrated Firefox home page
browser.newtab.url = about:home
(iv) any other page
browser.newtab.url = full URL to the page
Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?

How to make my home page in a new tab in firefox 13
So they locked the thread relating to this issue, on the fallacious grounds that FF13 has a new new tab interface. But this new interface prevents actually get you your home page in a new tab.
I have the habit of using the new homepage tab Add on, but who did not work for several versions. So I used then NewTabUrl, but now they have decided to break that.I am completely sick of firefox constantly make me re-learn my browser interface every two weeks. I have more important things to do that to spend hours trying to figure out what that some empty 'designer' now think is a really cute way for me to go where I want to go.
All I want is a new tab to give me the page of my choice, not an algorithm isn't relevant ridiculous imagined in a conference room with too many whiteboards and not enough common sense.
OK, several hours later:
Solution 1: do this about: config, find newtab, find the entry for browser.newtab.url, and enter your favorite example Homepage http://www.google.comThis ensures that you avoid having the tile image, BUT the focus is in the url bar, not in the google search field. Why Firefox do that they are allowed to fly the goal in this way this is beyond me and drives me crazy - what is the probability that the first thing I want to do is to enter a url?
Solution 2: use a different add-on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/custom-new-tab. It is an option if you want the focus in the url bar or not. I disabled my existing NewTabUrl module, just in case of conflict.
Now you get your favorite in a new tab homepage, and new tabs have focus in the google search bar.
But the first homepage when you open firefox, always steals the focus and puts it in the url bar. At the time where I can find no way to stop it - idiots to Firefox know clearly much better that me how can I use my home page. Quite exasperating.

I have my browser set to restore the previous session, when I open Firefox and new tabs to open the vacuum. With these settings, I used to be able to open new windows and carry the load of my home page, while keeping intact previously mentioned behaviour, but when I open a new window now, I get a blank page.
Is it possible to restore the previous behavior, or are all the tabs that are now seen as the same now, if they are open within the framework of new or existing windows?
You must change the string "browser.newtab.url" by clicking twice and then write "subject: empty"... now the newtab will open with a blank page...» To change the home page will appear in a new window, see how to How to set the home page How to set the home page ~ J99

Is there an option that allows me to display my Home Page when a new tab is opened?
Tabbed browsing is great, but when you open a new tab it just opens a blank page. So I have to enter a URL or to perform certain actions to go where I want to go, which is my home page. There is an option to 'Show my home page' when Firefox starts, but I don't see a similar choice when starting new tabs. Anyone know if there is such a thing?
Choose 1 of these add-ons:
with newtaburl you have more options

Home page and a new tab will appear at startup
My home page is my.yahoo.com. When FF starts the homepage tab appears MORE a new additional tab. Any ideas on how to get just the homepage at startup? (prevent FF to open additional new tab)
If you have extensions working in Firefox 11, they will work in Firefox 21 (because Firefox now, since 10, default is all compatible). In addition, you won't be on the older versions because of security risks. Upgrade to Firefox 21 as soon as POSSIBLE, then update your extensions and plugins.

How to open/download a file .java instead of open as a txt in a new tab in Firefox?
Hello
I need to download/open on my computer a file .java, but Firefox does not give me a box 'Open' or 'Download' instead, it opens the java file as text in a new tab.How do I download/open it on my computer?
I guess that you are referring to a JavaScript file.
Java and JavaScript are different languages.
To avoid confusion, see:If the server sends the file as a text/plain then Firefox will open the file in a tab if you click left and does not download/save the file.
In this case, you must save the file via the context menu or the file menu.You will need to click right on the link and use "save the link under" to save this file directly instead of left-clicking the link.

When I get off the fall from the address window, rather than display the URL of the Web site I want to open in a second tab says "switch to the tab '. But I don't want to move to the tab - I want to open a second tab on the same URL. If I want to open it a second time, I have to manually enter the address. Is it possible to turn off this option so that I can open the second tab by using the same address in the drop-down menu? I was always able to do this with the previous versions of Firefox.
