  I'm trying to scan with my HP Officejet 4500 and it is not allowing me to do. When I turn on the printer it says "failed to scan. "Cannot scan, copy or fax.   Unfortunately, ePrint or AirPrint support printing on tray 2 right now. If you print from an iPad/iPhone or other mobile device, you can use ePrint home & Biz application that will allow you to select a specific drawer.

  Use the HP Deskjet 6940 as another driver, if it is not listed under HP it appears after clicking the Windows Update button in the Add Printer dialog box:

  1. Right-click your printer 8600 and select printer Ptoperties. A note which port is selected under Ports.
  2. Click Add a printer.
  3. Click on 'the printer that I want isn't listed.
  4. Select A Local port or a netowrk with manual settings.
  5. Select the port used by your printer.
  6. Select HP
  7. Select HP Deskjet 6940
     Note: Click on Windwos update if it is not listed under HP.
  8. Fill the wizrd and 6940 driver allows you to print a document custom formats.

  I assume you mean you are using "Windows Fax and Scan" that is built into Windows 7.  Is this correct?

  Place a sheet of the faxed document glass, print side down, and make a copy.  If the copy comes out blank or if the copy is hard to read, the likely faxed version no longer works.  This could be the result if the document by fax is on yellow paper or other (perhaps) due to the low contrast.

  If the copy is good, take this printed copy and put it in the ADF, side to the top and make a copy.  Evaluate the results.
