  What is a model supported by your version of Windows? You could just plug it in and see if Windows recognizes
  and they get the drivers off of the internet. Although it is recognized that you should always check the manufacturer's website

  There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

  There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

  You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

  They should do this for a small fee.

  To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

  And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista from how you bought your computer, IF the 8 Windows Installer do not wipe it.

  Chances are very good that if you borrow a disc from someone, it will be an OEM disc, which means that it will contain the pilots incorrect and all the garbage that comes pre-installed on this brand of computer.

  (1) you can uninstall all Console Java extensions in the Firefox Extensions list, because this extension is obsolete and has no function.   You have a hard drive partition to do - but you would need to contact/see the FAQ from the hardware manufacturer (HP, Dell, Gateway, Lenovo, etc) to see if and how.

  Otherwise - you might have to order (pay for possibly) the factory restore/recovery of the value of the manufacturer.
