How to report a scam to Microsoft concerning Vista Security virus

Hello

Yesterday, while I was on my computer all of a sudden, I was bombarded with a message that appeared to be from Microsoft.  He told me that my computer was in trouble.  He says it's the security of Vista.  He wouldn't let me not use anything on the computer and said I had a Trojan virus.  He also said that I had to buy a fix for this.

I called my son, who is very wise in the substance of the computer, so talk about th.  He came, looked at him and said that one of its computers had the same problem. but that was it for Windows XP, there.  He went home, got a disc with something I think that loaded malicious software in my computer, and he took care of the virus called.

He told me that this happened for a while and it is certain that Microsoft is aware of it.  I have an antivrus program, but he told me that some of the terrible things that are sent are move the normal programs.

My question is: do you know about, and if you do, why are you not protect us from him?  If the malicious software can do it, I'm sure you can.

I look forward to hearing from you in this regard.

Sincerely,

Grace Martin

  • How to report FALSE keys to Microsoft

    Hello

I recently bought a copy of windows 7 to my old windows xp computer, when I brought the disc I have struggled to turn only to find out that this so-called new key was activated 5 times since November 2009.
Does anyone know where I have to declare this key to false so Microsoft can deal with it
    Thank you
    James

It may be a fake, where did you buy Windows 7?

However if it's a bad key (TechNet or MSDN) then here is the information you requested and much more.

    ====================================================

Run the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic tool:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/ServiceRequest.aspx
    Download the tool: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=56062
Post your results (copy button) and paste your results here.

After running the verification of the diagnostic utility of the following:

The part you are interested in is the section to three digits of the number to identify the product, if it corresponds or is included in one or two digits of the examples below, you probably have a MSDN or TechNet product key. "These keys must not be sold for retail use.

    065 066 067, 068, 069 to Ultimate, box 220 for professional and 230, 231, 232 area for Home Premium,

There are probably others, but they should be close to those that are displayed"
(How to be certain - download the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool listed above).

Note: Though that illegally sold MSDN/TechNet allow product key for activation of more than one
(usually 5 or 10), so these keys can be sold "several times" before activation may fail.

So how they got, it's unreal. I was wondering if anyone can help urgently! Thank you

If you know who is in contact with you, then you can either call their phone service provider and ask them to try to block the number or contact your local police.

    * Original title: scams

    Hello

I would like to know how do I know when legit microsoft tech people call us. They seem to know what are the problems of the computer. For example, I know technical support microsoft is outsourced. How can I know who we really are and which one is fake? If I'm registered, it is logical that they call me if my computer is not working properly. In addition, they guide you through what is wrong, before asking to enter the computer. Y at - there somewhere that we could see a list of companies that are partners of support, as well as their locations?

For a very good presentation, read this--> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/407147/answers-to-common-security-questions-best-practices/?p=2413189 (post #2 in the thread must choose an antivirus program and post #4 aims to choose an additional program to deal with software spyware and other malware that is not strictly 'virus' in nature.)

Each month, the "Patch Tuesday" Microsoft includes an updated version of the 'Malicious Software Removal Tool"in the 'important' updates.  It's not settling as other updates but "runs once to find infections per prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) on your computer and remove infections it finds."

In addition, your installation of Windows 7 runs by default "Windows Defender".  Microsoft confusedly used that name to refer to a software that performs different functions.  In Windows 7, Windows Defender is an anti-spyware utility, not an anti-virus.  Windows Defender (for Windows 7) updates are quite frequently provided through Windows Update.  See http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/6397-windows-defender-turn-off.html

Microsoft also provides for free, Microsoft Security Essentials.  Microsoft describes this as a "guard in real time against software viruses, spyware and other malicious software.  If you install MSE, will be automatically disabled Windows Defender.

You can also download the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make a unique analysis for "virus, spyware and other malicious software."

IMO, one of the best tools that scan for malware that the virus is the free version of MalwareBytes AntiMalware.  https://www.Malwarebytes.org/DL-confirm/ . during installation, you will be asked if you want to a free trial of the Premium version.  Yet once, IMO, the Premium, even the free trial version, installation is not necessary.

The difference between the free version and the Premium version, which is the last runs continuously in the background ("scheduled update and scanning, the safer our real-time Protection Module. ... Another important feature is our blocking malicious Web site").   According to the company, "Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is not supposed to be a replacement for antivirus software...» [and] works well and should run alongside software antivirus without conflict.  https://support.Malwarebytes.org/customer/en/Portal/articles/1834872-does-Malwarebytes-anti-malware-replace-antivirus-software-?b_id=6438

A second scanner good anti-spyware is SUPERAntiSpyware.  http://SUPERAntiSpyware.com/  As with MBAM, IMO all what you need is the free version.  Be aware that even the free version by default at startup of Windows startup.  If you install SAS, I suggest to change this option and the program running only on request.
