HP 8150dn: error PCL XL HP 8150dn

When I try to print two iget specific forms, one or two PCL XL Error messages.

The first is...

PCL XL error

Subsystem Kernel

Error: Illegalattribute

Operator: SetPageScale

Position: 5

The other mistake is...

PCL XL error

WARNING: IllegalMediaSource

The error IllegalMediaSource at least print the form.

We run Server2003, SP 2.

There are various other forms using the same fonts and settings of the tray printer to print correctly.

The IllegalMediaSource error is caused because plateau encoded media (paper) source selection attributes are not recognized by the device.

The IllegalAtribute error is caused because an attribute value that is not valid for the current operator was provided.

In both cases, the analysis of a captured print streams would give probably more information.

You can do it yourself:

  • 'Capture' a sample print job in a file named .prn by using the "print to a file" option in the print dialog.
  • Analyze the captured file - you can use the PRN file analysis tool in the whole PCL app, available via http://www.pclparaphernalia.eu
  • The first of your mistakes is near the beginning of the file, so should be easy to find; If you select post operator tab PCL XL of dialogue Set up the Options of this tool, this will show the location of the operator (number) associated with each operator in the analysis.

I had an Epson printer installed and everything worked fine.  Some time ago (6 months or more) I uninstalled the Epson and installed LaserJet CM1415fnw.  Since then, I can print in all programs except MS Word.  When you print in MS Word, I get the following message.

I have two other computers that share this printer. The problem is limited to the computer of one Office mentioned above. Only this desktop computer used by ethernet to the printer cable, others are wireless.

    What I tried:

    (1) power Cycle printer

    (2) restart the computer

    (3) uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers & rebooting

    (4) reBoot Ethernet hub

    (5) printer change to use WiFi wired inststead

    (6) in printer firmware update

"(7) pilot change affecting to" optimized for text and vector data.

Now, I'm running out of ideas and hungery for more

Yet once again, I appreciate really the answer.

What you are proposing, it is a good strategy for this shrinkage.   Unfortunately, the "print to file" option is no longer available in the HP Print widget so I'm not able to test. Or at least as far as I can see.

The date of the Windows Update was 13 March 2015, just when this happened.

I found a universal PCL6 driver dated December 2014 on the site of HP here:http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=3271558&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4132 and I tried. No differrence

    Watching the pilot news

It reads to me that he uses a MS driver provided since 2006 that is to say there were no updates to it recently. I don't know why the driver just installed does not appear. It's disturbing...

Really getting deperate, I tried the PostScript driver (same link as above).  When I print, set apart be very slow for a good minute just to find the printer that I meet a new set of printing errors, postscript type things. For me is indicating that data is corrupted before it hits the network by a Windows process, most likely.  I uninstalled because it did not help.

Well, which is located between the driver and ethernet cable? The firewall! I disabled who. No joy. Next I disabed the Antivrius (AVG). Problem solved! Activate - problem returns. With disabilities and I am okay

I did a quick Google and I see that people are starting to complain about https://support.avg.com/answers?id=906b00000004lmHAAQ

So there you have it.  AVG has been updated around the same time.  AVG is not on other computers.  Thanks AVG.  Goodbye and good riddance.   I'll go with MS built in protection in the future...

Printer driver: Laserjet 3020 UPD PCL 6

    Hello

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I can certainly help you with this problem.

You can check the following setting in the printer drivers.

Go to the printer properties -> Printing Preferences->Advanced tab

Under the option of features of the printer, click on "Graphics Mode" , you will see two options.

"Send a graphic under Vector Optimize" or "graphic under frame"

Note: B & w toggle this two parameter. Click OK to save

Then the next option ' Send TrueType as Bitmap ' , you will then see to Activate and then click on apply and then click OK.

    Try to print and check.

Other options: You can try to install HP Universal Print Driver for Windows PostScript (64-bit)

    Hope this will help you

If my post has solved your problem, please mark it as "accepted solution".

  • LaserJet 2605dn any size but letter print does not correctly

We had our Laserjet 2605dn for a few years and had no problems printing using different paper sizes, using the XP computers.  However, when you print to the printer of 2605 to using a Windows 7 machine, the printer will not print correctly on letter-size paper.

We try to print using a half-sheet letter or size of the statement (5.5 x 8.5).  We tried printing on 3 different machines to Windows 7, using Microsoft Word and also LibreOffice.  We choose the correct size paper into the printer Preferences dialog box and the print preview shows that it will print correctly.  However, when it prints, it is cropped and we get an error message printed on another sheet of paper: error PCL XL WARNING: IllegalMediaSize.

We tried setting the custom paper size as the size of the statement in the dialog box printer, printing from the status bar, and also the manual feed.  We use the latest driver available through Windows Update and the HP Web site.

    Please notify.

I ended up starting completely over.  First I have updated the firmware of the printer even if she showed it was common.  Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer on each computer, to have watch online for the driver.  Once it was full, I am able to print correctly on statement and letter-size paper.  Obviously the firmware or drivers have been corrupted or not really updated as indicated.  Thanks for your advice!

Is it possible to change that, like a registry entry?

    >> ... We have a lot of word documents containing the parameters of the page.

This is obviously the source of your problems; can you describe what you mean by that in detail?

    >> ... The PS driver interprets as the tray 2 and pcl as tray 4.

Do you mean that your Word document (in this example) injects an escape sequence "paper source selection" (& l259H) in the print stream? Or something else?

If this is the case, I can't imagine that a driver PostScript would accept such sequences; Once again, to provide more details.

Or is it just that the values stored in Word documents are dependent on the active printer? (I don't know what the mechanism is that Word uses here).

    >> ... Unfortunately, the ps driver ignore the page margin.

You will need to provide more information, although I can't advise much on issues of PS.

    >> ... Why are there differences?

PCL has been defined by HP and PostScript by Adobe, as well as their "paper tray" codes were always likely to be different.

That being said, LJ 8150 is likely to use a HP-written PostScript emulator in the firmware, so maybe they tried

to align the identifier numbering more closely.

  • HP Color LaserJet 4550: HP Color LaserJet 4550 PCL XL error

I use this printer for years.  It works beautifully.

Windows 10 has just done an update & the printer driver disappeared.  I use this printer with a HP Jet Direct J4135A usb card.  Now any driver or what I do I try to install or use, I get the same error message.

I am trying to use the printer driver's upd-pcl6 - x 64 - 6.3.0.21178.exe.  The printer driver appears in the settings & is by default we & they say that everything works correctly.

Can you help me please?  I don't want to go out and buy another printer.

    PCL XL error

    Subsystem: KERNEL

    Error: UnsupportedProtocol

    Operator: 0x0

    Position: 0

Found the solution for everyone that might have this problem.

Just right click on the printer icon in the Device Manager and select printer properties / Advanced / change & driver driver HP Color LaserJet 4550 PCL6 ranking to HP Color LaserJet 4550 PCL6 and click OK.  That's all there is to it.

Now, it will work with USB (HP Jet Direct J4135A Card) that is not supported, instead of just supported network.

  • LaserJet 3030: HP 3030 PCL XL Error IllegalAttributeValue

I get the following error when you try to print a PDF file:

    PCL XL Error

    Subsystem: IMAGE

    Error: IllegalAttributeValue

    Operator: consulterles

    Position: 122

I studied him this and tried to update the drivers (PCL 6) later and tried to switch to a PS driver, neither solution worked. I can't find a PCL5 driver available to try... someone has suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you. HP Laserjet 3030 on 64-bit Windows 10...

If you didn't try the driver on the link below to try it:

    http://h20566.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=378057 & swItemId = ds_99376_16 & swEnvOid = 4192

Also since it is a very old printer, firmware may not be able to manage the latest files. Go to the link below and make sure you have this version of the loaded firmware. If this is not the case you may need an older operating system to the firmware level but you can try to run the program as it can work. Also check the setting of the document you want to print. Make sure the paper size is correct and all other elements look OK. I have seen problems when a pdf by email has settings that did not match the default properties for the driver and caused pcl xl errors.

    http://h20566.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=378057 & swItemId = ma_45939_2 & swEnvOid = 228 #.

  • UPD PCL 6 and PCL XL 5 errors

    Hello

So I recently had to change our UPD PCL 6 driver in our HP LaserJet Pro 400 UPD PCL 5 printer as it would not print a PDF without raising a PCL XL error, now the problem that I face is that the PCL 5 driver is originally very slow draws. A few minutes each print - y at - it a solution so that I can have a normal printing speed bypassing PCL XL errors?

    Kind regards

    Hello

Then in the end after several tests and trying to the source of the question - I found that printing of PDF as an image seems to work (in the printer Menu of Adobe Reader - advanced - print as image) but I can't ask my team to do whenever they print. So we tried to look at Adobe InDesign, because it is what allows us to create our brochures and we thought it is the melting of Oswald, who doesn't seem to work with the HP printers - printers do not like this policy. Something for HP and Adobe to work really - can not continue to change drawings of policies to respond to the printer. in any case, it seems to work.
