HP 8500 has connectivity issues

Hello!

A friend would get its OfficeJet 8500 a work with everything else.

It has an old desktop PC HP Pavilion and an old laptop Dell Inspiron 5100.

And a router Netgear N900 very nice with ports USB TWO to share printing and storage devices.  Of a value of more than two computers from the router

The router Netgear, HP 8500 has and Pavilion are all accessible walk from each other.   I suspect that radio stations interfere with each other.  The laptop would lose track of the internet from the living room, so I turned off the wi - fi of 8500 a radio and the internet laptop Revit.  Seems to me that we need away radio 8500 a, or move the 8500 or move the Netgear router.

Before we began yesterday the 8500 has worked with the HP Pavilion via direct USB but the Dell laptop wouldn't connect via wi - fi.  I don't think that the 8500 a will work with USB and a wireless connection.  It is well to be one or the other, isn't she?

Thinking that I could disable the 8500 a radio, I tried to connect the 8500 has directly on the Netgear.  You need to install the Netgear ReadyShare app to each computer, if you are going to connect the printer to the router via the USB port.  The Pavilion has accepted the ReadyShare application.  We unplugged the USB of 8500's Pavilion and connected to the Netgear.  A minute later, we had a test page.  Yay!

However, the Dell 5100 laptop would NOT install the app ReadyShare.  He returned with an error on the creation of an exception in the firewall for 7423 UDF Out Port.  I tried to do this but the firewall Windows said that we couldn't because it was already there.  I missed time and ideas, and went home.

There are hundreds of messages on the 8500 has, but most of them focus on a very specific problem.  I hope for some general guidance.  Now I kinda think we Oughta uninstall ReadyShare since both PC software, move the 8500 was in the next room, then just use the settings HP wi - fi connectivity.  If I have this right, when the HP software is properly installed on the desktop & laptop, a print job from a computer through the router to the 8500 a, correct?  And no matter if the old Pavilion is wired to the router, then the Dell laptop uses a wireless connection to talk to the router?

Does this sound like a plan?  Or does anyone have a better idea?  I just need a general game plan, then we can work through the details.

UPDATE

Success!  There was a little high and low...

We plugged the 8500 a directly printing device to the router Netgear via Ethernet.

Installed the latest driver HP for the desktop PC package, which is wired to the router.  Detection of the printer was simple.  Yay!

The Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop is another story.  We wanted to create the Dell so that he could send a print job through the wi - fi router.  The latest HP drivers would be extracted, then we would get an InstallShield window, saying that the drivers for the Broadcom 440BX (or something like that) were being installed.  WTH?  I've never seen a driver for a device package tries to install drivers for an another device before.  Dell uses a Broadcom chipset for the cable network.  The Broadcom driver install seems to go forward, then we would get a screen terminal for a few seconds, then nothing.  No sign of the HP Installer.  Mgr. device had no question mark next to the of Broadcom Ethernet controller.  I tried again, with the laptop Ethernet cable disconnected from the router, hoping to circumvent the problem of Broadcom.  No dice.

Finally, I tried using the CD provided with the 8500.  He tried not to install the Broadcom drivers, but it didn't connect the printer either.  It seemed to go, then he left came with a window to go to the HP support for help.  I tried the diagnosis of HP printer network.  He confirmed the IP address of the printer, but could not resolve.

He was beginning to look like 0 for 2.  I went on all programs, just to see if the HP software was listed.  It has been.  Just for the heck of it, I clicked on Setup and install.  We went through the same steps as the previous, but it wasn't a detour by the Broadcom chipset.  And the green progress bar stopped twice to copy several files.  When he was done, he said that we were ready to go.  Of course, the laptop Dell sent a test page for the 8500 has through the wi - fi router!

So, it wasn't a cake walk and I would like to know what exactly was going on here, but we got everything to talk to all the rest.

  • HP OfficeJet 8500 has more 910 g give up connection every now and then

I explored the forums for 8500 more connectivity issues and did the following, but the problem persists:

I am using the Wi - Fi connection (force 4), web update services and software packages, can use eprint, but printer loses connection (even with eprint servers). I have it set to fax so phone line is connected and noticed that when a call arrives (or goes), it restores the network connection. It seems that he loses the connection when it starts in mode 'sleep'. Is there a way to disable, and then do a test?

I noticed that first print wirelessly from a laptop computer crashes and comes back with an error (sometimes work after a long time), but the second try and then work (it seems that the first test is trying to put the printer back to the mode 'sleep'!)

I have the static IP assigned (in both the printer and the router) and static DNS primary.

I have IP v4 ONLY on the printer.

What can be done? Help, please. The printer is only a few days old!

I finally realized that you can go to the 'Préférences' menu on the touch screen and disable the "power saving Mode" - this apperently solved the "problem of loss of connection" (with static IP/DNS and IP v4 only)- but the screen was continually WE (and quite brilliant - more than a lamp at night!). I also found that there is an option under "Tools" screen saver But the screensaver works just the video "promo" continuously without interruption and with the same brightness on the screen. Is it possible to say 'black' after 10 minutes?

Perhaps HP should provide a screen saver that turns off the display after a period of inactivity.

APPARENTLY, THE LOSS OF CONNECTION BUG IS DUE TO "ENTERGY SAVE MODE" WHERE THE WIRELESS LAN CANNOT DETECT TRAFFIC TO WAKE UP THE PRINTER. THIS SHOULD ALSO BE FIXED IN THE NEXT FIRMWARE.

To SUMMARIZE: In order to avoid the 'loss of connection"(for wireless) perform the following steps:

1 assign a static primary DNS and static IP address (through EWS doing via a browser is easier - see below on access EWS).

    2. optional but recommended: connect the printer wireless MAC address to the same static IP address in the configuration of the router (router consult manual or vendor on how to do this).

    3. via the integrated Web server accessed through a browser of computer - under 'Network' settings, select 'IP v4 ONLY' (EWS is accessed through a browser on the same wireless LAN by typing http://192.168.1.xxx - where xxx is the IP address assigned statically - you can find it via touching the wireless icon on the screen in the printer)

    4. go in the 'preferences' and disable the "power saving Mode" (in the touch screen of the printer interface)

    5. optional but highly recommended: turn on the "screen saver" in the "Tools" menu (in the touch screen of the printer interface)

6 see if it the problem slves (mine is running fine since then)

    Hi @Raggetty ,

I understand that you are having problems with the printer via the wireless network. I will definitely do my best to help you.

I don't have my 8500 printer connected to a telephone line, do not use the fax and did not for many years.  Yesterday, I received the phone line in use message. Hi, once again

The initializaiton was a success and the printer said alignment has been a success.  When I try to print, it will show that it is printing, but finally it displays "Printing error" in the print details screen.  No error message appears on the computer.  I have to go to the printer screen to see that there is a mistake and not print.

The print and Scan Doc you disconnect the power and the router I did.  Then the network was not connected, so it goes through the steps of setting up who succeeded.  Then it wants me to register my machine.  But there is no other error message.  I have print and scan Doc once again, and then he said that I had to update the software I did and then we found two questions which he said fixed it and it should print but it does not print.  Then I tried your semi Full Reset and it is printing!

He always 'phone use message' line... but I am so happy that she prints I guess that's what I get with a printer 4 1/2 year.  It may just be temporary but OK for now.

Thanks a lot for not giving up and try several solution.

If you did not, please remove the existing printer software > restart > install a new copy of the software full functionality.

Assuming the printer is functional, connected, and that print of Diagnostics shows no errors, then consider / try one of the following Scan Options.

  • OfficeJet pro 8500 a: 8500 has will not stop printing

immediately after setting up and installation of my 8500 it began printing a page with only the fraction 1/4 and a smiling face in the very top left of the page and that's all it prints, one after the other, again and again, and do not stop. If I have to cancel the printing of the touch screen, it stops the current print but restarts printing again shortly after.

I sent a test page (page has shown in print queue), but I won't stop printing the page of fraction and smiley face.  the work queued print ever.

There is no error before, after or during the printing of this page.

Welcome to the HP community @gemini570,

I understand your Officejet 8500 has constantly prints a page with a smiling face in the upper left corner, and I wanted to respond to try to help.

Please, start by connecting your PC to the print and scan doctor and choose "print trouble." This diagnostic tool will check for all conflicts that may be causing the problem. The tool will show you a report at the end. If there is a problem that the tool could not fix, you will notice it in the results.

You can also check to see if you have Web Services enabled on the front of the printer and try to turn it off to see if the pages stop printing on.

If the above don't help, try to uninstall the printer software , restart the computer and run the HP printer install Windows Wizard to install the printer.

Another idea that comes to mind, would be to try stop and start the print spooler:

    1. click on start
    2. type 'Services' in the search field.
    3. open SERVICES
    4. at the bottom, click "extended view.
    5. search for the print spooler
    6. right click and choose Properties
    7. Select Automatic from the drop-down list, close the window
    8. right-click Print Spooler and select 'Stop', wait until it stops and then again right click and 'Start '.
    9. close out Services and try your print.

    Hello

Yes, you must map the drive of your printer to your network card, and it should come as a drive on your computer. You can copy files from here (Note: some cards don't like may not move photos from computer to them).

The following statement should work for your printer:
