  • How is the printer connected, wireless, Ethernet or USB?

  • What is the operating system you use, Windows or Mac? What version?

  I have an iMac and upgraded to Mavrick. Now my scanner, Photosmart C4780, does not scan. I have HP scan, 2.4.0(5), that has worked well before. I can't find an upgrade to scan from HP on the web site. When I use it, nothing happens and I have to use Force quit to turn it off. Suggestion? Thank you

  I saw your post on the problems you are having with a sweep on the Mavericks.  I checked the drivers available and there is no driver available for the Mavericks scanning. However, there are solutions to analyze.

  Click on the link below and choose 'How to scan with the Apple Software Update driver?' and then you will see 3 methods, choose one of them.

  I have a new Windows 7 laptop and the only way I can scan is using the photosmart software on the PC.  I try to use the touch screen and even if my computer is recognized as being connected via USB, I get the following error:

  I downloaded the "doctor HP Print and Scan" and it doesn't find any errors.  I had the scanner connected to my previous laptop Windows 7 and it should scan via the touch screen.  I appreciate any help anyone can provide.

  I suggest you try to analyze the file from the following location:
  1. navigate to the folder of C:\program HP imaging\bin location
  2 Locate and double click on hpqsciapp.exe to activate the scanning application.

  Method 2:
  If the steps above fail, I suggest to uninstall and reinstall the drivers from the HP site and see if that helps.

  To download compatible drivers from the printer manufacturer's website, first see which version of Windows you are using, and then search for compatible drivers.
  1. open system information by clicking the Start button, all programs, Accessories, click System Toolsand then clicking on System Information.
  2. click System summaryand check the name of the operating system and the Type of system to see which version of Windows you are running.
  3. go to the printer manufacturer's website and search for a compatible with your version of Windows printer driver.
  4. follow the instructions on the site to download and install the driver.

  No problem.  I'm always happy to help you.  Looks like you might be on the right track with the cable.  What you are discribing it seems it's a communication problem, more of a problem with the drivers.  Make sure that you do not use a USB cable that is more than 6 feet (2 m).  Anything more than that and the loss of signal can cause problems like this.  Let me know what happens.

  ·         What happens when you try to scan? You get no matter what error code or error message?

  Empty ink does not prevent the printer from the analysis of the files or documents.

  Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

  Method 1: I suggest you to uninstall the currently installed drivers and install compatible drivers with the operating system from the link of the manufacturer provided below. Check if installation of the printer from the link below drivers pass solve you the problem.

  To uninstall the drivers,

  b. Select a program, and then click Uninstall. Some programs include the ability to modify or repair the program in addition to uninstall, but many simply offer the option uninstall. To change a program, click change or repair.

Printing HP and Scan Doctor indicates that an update is required for the Cener Solution, however, the update link goes to an update to the Pro 8500 and the update will not be installed for this printer. I downloaded the current software on the HP site and tried to use the disc that came with the printer. In both cases, that the installation program begins to run, goes through four steps and when it is installing updates, it disappears from the screen.   Sorry it took so long to get back but things have been hectic. I really believe that my problem was one or more files that are damaged somewhere, so I took the easy way and installed Windows 10. After that I installed the printer and everything is fine now. But I really appreciate your help.

  I recently bought a new laptop - ASUS with Windows 7 64 bit. AIO drivers loaded very well except for a couple of files that I ignored. Device will print but will not scan and the annoying message "an error has occurred with the scanning device.   The pop up message is probably caused by the following software (software HP PSC & Office Jet). I want to uninstall this software using the Control Panel Add/Remove Programs, and then, when you connect your printer to the computer, Windows 7 detects hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. A notification lets you know when the installation starts and when it is completed. You are not required to download any software or insert the product CD.
