HP Compaq Pavilion 471: Pavilion dead 471

My mother 471 died. I have removed the hard drive to remove data and can not see the drive on a Dell PC. Using win 7

I asks me to format the drive and XP it is seen that in the computer management and then described as unallocated and 5.7 GB in size. The hard drive is a 40 GB Maxtor ST340015A. HP cache data if not fitted with a HP desktop computer? Thoughts please.

ERICO... Thank you very much for the reply, my mother is 95, which explains its origin. I agree with everything that say you, but my problem trying to access the disc to copy the data. I was wondering if HP adds code that prevents a computer no HP access to a system of HP drive and if there was away around him... Marc

N ° HP is not that. The hard drive is just a regular MBR partitioned hard drive Windows OS environment.

Given the age of the hard disk, it can have, in a manner of speaking, left the building. Hard drives don't last forever.

There may be options available if you really want to delve into the inner workings of your IDE drive. You can replace the IDE card which is within the envelope of the disc and it could solve the problem. It is only if you are a lucky person. The problem is to find the card that works will open your drive, considering they are more manufactured.  Map source to swap meet and second hand shops.

You can't do what you want to do.

    Read this;

If your computer is pre-installed with Vista, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.

  • Pavilion G6 - 2163sr: Max RAM computer laptop HP Pavilion G6 - 2163sr

    Hello

I want to improve my laptop for 2 * 8 GB RAM. Motherboard supports this amount of memory?

So understand, my motherboard model is HP 183rd (U3E1) but I didn't find its specification in the web.

    Thanks in advance.

    Here's the official specs:

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docid=emr_na-c03362719

Basically, the motherboard is the laptop model. Laptops are designed of the earth upward by the manufacturer so there is no separate computer laptop itself set of specifications of the motherboard.

The specs say 8 maximum of concerts, but it's a 3rd generation of processor Intel Core. However, the maintenance manual, which is usually more reliable than the specifications, said as 8 GB maximum and does not specify a compatible 8-gig module.

    Repair manuals

Even Crucial said 8 maximum of concerts and they perform ongoing tests because if they can sell you larger modules they want to be able to do.

    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/Pavilion-G6-2132tx

So, bottom line, I think it might take 2 x 8 gig modules, but it would be a big gamble and I guess that it can take only 2 x 4 GB.

  • HP pavilion dv6-7045ez: impossible to start SSD

Hello, I changed my old HDD to SSD (Kingston hyperX fury 240 GB, controller SandForce® SF-2281). I tried to install windows 7, windows 10 and debian, but I still have the same problem, during installation reboot to complete, it is impossible to boot from SSD. My opinion is that the controller is not compatible with my pc (HP pavilion dv6-7045ez).

I found crucial.com who all say the ssd compatible with series dv6-7XXX (http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/pavilion-dv6-7xxx-series-%28intel-ddr...). Can I trust her?

I understand that you have replaced your disk by a (fury of hyperX Kingston 240 GB) SSD and are able to install Windows, but not able to boot to it later. When I checked HP Pavilion dv6 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service of Guide, the Kingston drive is not part of the recommended replacements. That doesn't mean it won't work, only that it is not tested and the result is unknown. It may or may not work.  You can find this informative document. HP Notebook PC - Solid State Hard Drives. • HP Pavilion 550 - 155l: CPU - Z says 12 GB of ram, Windows says 4 GB

Hello, firstly I want to say sorry of HP if I broke the rules because I'm new here.

My problem is, I just got a new HP 550 building - 155l with 4 GB of RAM. Then, my friend gave me a stick of Kingston fury X DDR3 1600 Mhz, which is 8 GB for me. I tried to installed the RAM. Then, when I open the information system, its says that I have still 4 GB of ram (3.90 usable). I was very confused, so I went to come and download CPU - Z to see if the RAM stick works. And it is! it is my 8 GB key! And the tab says memory I have total of 12 GB of RAM but why Windows says only 4 GB (3.90 usable)? Is there something wrong? Help, please! You guys can see photos of preferences.

PS Sorry if my grammar isn't very good. I'm not a native English speaker, I'm Thai.

It comes to the n/b system information for Windows and CPU - Z comparison.

    It's the provided HP RAM.

It's the fury X 8 GB RAM Kingston

    Thank you for every response.

Windows sees only 4 GB because you have mixed densities (4GB + 8 GB) module and the modules of memory other manufacturer.

If you want to use more than 4 GB successfully, then buy a memory compatible pair of bars secured and install them.

Make sure that you remove the other two modules before the upgrade.

See the following URL for guaranteed compatible memory module address. I have used Crucial for example. There are other manufacturers that ensure their modules are compatible.

There is no guarantee that the memory of Kingston on that you questioned work. Kingston is no memory they guarantee will be compatible with your PC.

Crucial memory is memory that is guaranteed to be compatible with your PC. See the following URL.

    http://www.crucial.com/USA/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/Pavilion-P6-2494ea

Upgrade to16GB you will need to install two identical 8 GB modules. It is best practice to follow. No game Mix is not a good plan.

Adding a module of memory from another brand or mixing them is very likely to result in a single module is recognized as installed. It could also lead to a lack of start-up scenario, and I'm fairly certain you don't want that to happen.

  • HP Pavilion n013-tx: RAM upgrade

    Hello!

I plan on upgrading my laptop with 8 GB RAM (currently have 4). The question then is, CPU - Z says I have 4 GB single channel DDR3 (1600 MHz) RAM, so what 'type' of 4 GB of RAM should I add? This who should I look for? I was warned several times that add the wrong type of RAM to my laptop will give disastrous results and it makes me a little more careful about what I should do. In addition, adding RAM will be no the warranty? Because I got still more than 2 years additional warranty from the store I bought to. I really need the extra GB of RAM that I intend to play games on it to which 4 GB just not sufficient.

    Yes,

Not the one you provided the link to. The modules in the link I provided are guaranteed compaible bars of memory. If you want to switch to 8 GB, and then use a single module of 8GB or 4 GB two identical modules. Remove the module of memory initially installed,

Do not mix the new modules with the initially installed memory module.

The laptop probably will boot up if you do and the first thing that crucial will ask is if mix you the memory modules.
