Yes, you can directly use wireless to print from your computer Mac and iPad. I'll give you another HP document on print from an Apple or a Mobile Android with HP Direct wireless device. Now, you can use the AirPrint feature on your iPad using wireless direct: (this information is the document of HP).

  1. On the control panel of the printer, press and hold the button wireless live ( ) for 3 seconds. The wireless installation instructions Direct print.

  • I tried to connect my printer HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-One Series to my Dell Inspiron 15

    Separated from this thread.

    Hi Bill,

I tried to connect my HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-One Series printer to my Dell Inspiron 15 for two days without success.  Can you help me?

    Lenora,

I have a HP DeskJet 2540 on my Dell Inspiron 1545.

The instructions from HP work so you should be fine if you follow them.  The CD contains a ReadMe file that describes the installation procedure.

You must install the software first, and only then connect the printer.  Note that you will first need to install it on a USB connection.  You can change this later if, like me, you intend to use it with WiFi.

    Try to reinstall the printer.

Step 4: activate the built-in Windows administrator account

    source

    1. first of all, you'll need to open an administrator mode command prompt by right-clicking and choosing "run as Administrator" (or use the shortcut Ctrl + Shift + Enter in the search box).

Note that it works the same in all versions of Windows. It just search for cmd and then do a right-click on the icon of the command prompt in the start menu or the boot screen.

    2. If you are in Windows 8.x or 10 you can click on the Start button and choose to open a command prompt in this way.

    3. now type the following command:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

    4. you should see a message that the command completed successfully. Log out, and you will now see the administrator as a choice account.

Hello @Mike90, thanks for the reply!

    First of all, here are some Windows 10 resources for you to review;

    Mike90 wrote:

Don't think it's my AntiVirus because I run the same on my old desk.

Security software installed on your computer is designed to protect your computer against threats, but sometimes can block communication between devices and can cause problems when using your printer or install the software.

A quick troubleshooting technique is to disable your firewall/antivirus and see if the problem goes away. Remember to re-enable your security later.

You can see the category 'firewall and software provider specific security information' of this site; Security and firewall information if you would like more information on your security software.

When you have downloaded the software fact all-in-one HP Deskjet 2540 Printer series full feature software and drivers - download version 10 of Windows?

    I would try this;

    1. Unplug your USB cable.
    2. Click on the Start Menu, find and open devices and printers.
    3. Right-click on any printer that refers to this model, then click on remove device (so delete all HP Deskjet 2540 s in here)
    4. Then repeat installation, unplugged the USB cable and see if the installation detects the printer already on your network.

Please let me know if any of these steps has resolved your problem, or if there is anything else I can do to help.

I look forward to hear from you!

  • DeskJet 2540 all in a Digital Photo

I have photos on 4 X 6 photo paper difficulty printing on my Deskjet 2540.  I am running 10.9.1.  print options iPhoto doesn't give me not all sizes in addition to the standard paper sizes and 8 X 10 photo.  I had to use the dialogue print another program to create a custom 4 X 6 size, but when I print, it only gives me half an inch of the image and leave the rest of the white photo paper.  All the solutions out there?

Call technical support to obtain the solution to my problem.  After the upgrade to the Mavericks, I intalled the latest drivers and software HP, but I didn't reset my printers through the system preferences, so I wasn't getting all the bang of my new driver.  If you encounter the same problem, here's what you do.

    1. go to System Preferences

    2. Select Printers and Scanners

    3. right click on one of the printers listed in the white box on the left, and select "Reset Printing System" at the bottom of the list

    4. once the system is reset, click the "+" button at the bottom left and select "add printer or Scanner.

    5. Select your HP printer in the list, and then select 'Printer name' in the menu 'Use' menu (mine was listed as "HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2540 all-in-One").

    6. click on 'Add' and you're ready to go!

A beautiful print media options palette now appears in your printer dialogs.

  • HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-one: printer stopped connecting to the wifi network

Hi, my printer has suddenly stopped detecting my wireless network. When I turn on the printer, wireless blue light continues to blink and there is an exclamation point on the screen of the printer. I still have the same wifi network as before and have not changed it or its parameters. I have not physically moved the printer and the wireless works fine for all computers, iPads, and phones.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the HP Utility Set Up software but it couldn't detect the printer to set up.  I also tried running the diagnostic results, but all the results, said 'Not work', 'Not applicable' or 'None'. I can't even an IP address for my printer.

My laptop can detect the printer if I turn on the wireless Direct button and I connect to this network on my laptop, but that's all. I'd rather connect the printer to the wifi so I can print from all my devices (phone, iPad etc.). The printer is less than 6 months and I do not understand what is the problem with him. Can you please specify?

    Hey @Sue1990,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that the all-in-one printer Deskjet 2540 does not connect to your wireless network. I can help you with that.

To connect the printer to your network again you will need to run the USB cable from the printer to your computer Mac OS x 10.7. This makes the open Applications, Hewlett-Packard and inside this folder you will find a program with a similar name to the installation wizard. If you run this program, then you will find options to connect your printer to your wireless network.

Please let me know how it works for you and let me know if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful evening!

    Hello spoi.

Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your concerns with the Deskjet 2540.

Unfortunately, "Scan to Email" is not available with this printer. Now, there is a solution. You can scan a document to your computer, open your e-mail account and attach this document.

What kind of e-mail do you use? If you check this, I provide steps to show you how to scan a document, then attach a file to your email.

  • DeskJet 2540: cannot convert mac wireless usb printer

    Hello

I'm having a problem setting my printer all-in-one Deskjet 2540 on my macbook (osx El Capitan). After basic implementation through usb connection, I was able to connect my printer to my router, which makes possible wireless printing. I was then able to print wireless from my phone using remote control all-in-one app.

However, I now want my macbook to establish a wireless connection to the printer instead of the usb connection that is used for configuration. I can't find the option to convert a usb printer to a printer that is connected to the wifi. When disconnecting from usb, laptop computer notes the connection with the printer is lost. To install my printer, I use the HP Utility software, in which I can't find such an option. Also, when passing through Apple-> system-> printers and scanners preferences I can't find an option "convert to wireless. I also read a method via Finder-> applications-> HP and then an icon for installing the software & should be there? In my case, there is only the HP Utility icon which directs me to the same program in which I could not find the option.

What I was looking for, and where can I find it?

Might be a little exaggerated description, but I hope that this makes it extremely clear...

  • DeskJet 2540 - letter size copies do not print low half inch

Setup: Deskjet 2540, Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), wireless connection

Problem: with a letter size (8 1/2 x 11) original, pressing a button on the copy translates copies that Miss the bottom 1/2 inch of the original.

If I scan the original even, save as a PDF file, then open it in Adobe Reader, then file/print prints the whole page only if I select 'Fit' or "Shrink oversized pages" (resulting in a reduced size copy) - otherwise the printed page will be still absent of the bottom 1/2 inch of the original.  Is not an acceptable workaround, because I need format copies of the original set of format letter with all the content of its original size. Isn't this possible?

The specification for the Deskjet 2540 margins are 0.57 "for Windows systems and 0.47" for Mac or Linux, see here for more information.
