HP Deskjet F4440 presents little ink (no!) and will not be printed

I had this problem for a few months. Every once in a while, it will not print a document, shows ink levels are low, but the image of the ink levels shows half full on the black and color.

I put the printer off, wait a few minutes and turn it back on - then it will print. Help?

Windows 7 64 bit

The printer did not properly read the ID of the cartridge.

    Hi @kelley22,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see that your HP PSC 2100 printer is stuck on copy and will not be printed on Windows 8. I'm happy to help you!

The first step, I would like to recommend is a hard reset. Please see this message, How to perform a hard reset, by @Rich1. It is very important that the power cable from the printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet, not a surge protector. See this article, questions when it is connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power, for more information. This is true for printers and ink jet.

Once this step is finished, please try to print a self-test report, to check the printer hardware is fully functional.

To print a self-test report, follow these steps:

    • On the product control panel, press Setup.
      The installation menu appears.
    • Press the right arrow ( ) until print report displays and then press OK. The menu print report appears.
    • Press the right arrow ( ) until the self-assessment report and press OK. The self-test report prints.

If the test report print, then on the computer, please try our HP print and Scan Doctorand let me know what happens!

Hope this helps and have a great day!

  • LaserJet P1505n - "printer off-line" message and will not be printed

I use MAC OS 10.8.4. connected to the printer via the ethernet connection

Have had on and outside messages as the "printer is not connected" and it will not be printed. Sometimes, I can't print a day and may the next day.  All connections are correct.

I followed the suggestion online HPs and deleted the name of the printer in system preferences - print and scan. Turned things market according to the guidelines. Supposedly I should be able to add the printer, but it will not be displayed in the list of printers. Cannot reinstall from the disc because there has been updates.

Now am stuck with how to make it work again.

Thanks - I can try your suggestions. The firewall is all that came with my iMac and has never been a problem before and I made no changes to it recently.

  • DeskJet F4580 wireless light flashing. Laptop will not find printer.

I have the above printer connected via USB to my desktop (Win Vista 32-bit) and has previously been connected to my laptop HP Pavilion dm3 (Win 7 64 bit) wireless - everything was going well for 12 months. I recently had infinite BT (optical fiber) broadband installed and still flashes the light on the printer wireless and the laptop computer does not find the printer.

I tried re-installing the printer (I think) by pressing the button and then pressing the button of the modem WPS wireless. Still getting flashing blue. What can I do?

    Thank you

    Hi Jan1973,

Follow the steps outlined in the document below.

Installation of the software of the printer on a wireless network

  • All of a sudden my printer/fax/scanner/copier is as rigid and will not cut, print, scan, copy etc.

my printer/fax, etc is HPOfficejet4500 Wireless-, he has never worked as a wireless printer, but I just connect.  This isn't my main problem today.  It is in power saving mode and I can't get out it works

A simple reset should solve this problem immediately. Remove the power cord from the back of the printer when the printer is still on. Wait about 30 seconds and plug the power in. The printer should reset and return to normal operation.

  • network is detected for c7280, but print jobs are sitting in the queue and will not be printed

The first time in the forum because C7280 is no longer supported. Lasted forever except that updates always seem to bumble. Last update caused printing to sit in the queue instead of actually printing.

The network is detected thanks to a response I've read similar problem, someone else had. I disconnnected cord power, then pressed on # and 6 at the same time. Network connection is returned after this reset. Thank you for this!  But now this second question described in the first paragraph.  We believe that it is a software problem in the updates.  Any suggestions?  Thank you!

Ok! Error of the operator on my part! Upon reflection, I realized that the rest of the House is on wifi, our main computer is NOT. Before our disassemble everything, we had the HP hired cable! So, everything is back to normal. Thank you very much for your kind attention. We have still benefited from the previusly information obtained when wifi was not recognized at all, so all is well in the household and everyone is happy now!

  • DeskJet 712C: ink cartridge is stuck in the right side and will not go

I have an old DeskJet 712C printer which was working fine until today. Strangely, the ink cartridge is stuck in the right side of the printer and will not spend. As soon as I turn on the printer, the red light starts flashing. Does anyone know tricks to get the cartridge to move again? Thank you for your help.

    Hello

It may be possible to move the cart if you turn the printer off. Unplug the printer and open the cover of the printer.  See if you can move the carriage by hand.  If possible, move the carriage to the Center.  Check that nothing of blocking the abnormal movements of transport - for example the pieces of paper.

Close the cover and then plug the printer back. I hope this will help.

I found a YouTube video that shows fixing carriage jam on printers C4200 (I know that they are not the same as the 712 C), but some of the suggestions will be useful if my initial thought above does not help.  the video is on this link:

Once again these tips are not specifically for your printer, but they can help solve your problem.

    I hope that was helpful.

  • Printer is offline and will not print documents

Printer is offline and will not print documents, the rocker switch "Printer offline" option is not available and it is constantly check on 'printer offline '.

How can I fix this so I can print the necessary documents?

    Hello destiny.

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing.

The description of the problem seems a little unclear and I wish I had a better understanding before you start working on it. I would be grateful if you could help me with more information.

    • Is the printer connected directly to the PC or it is on a network?
    • What is a printer wired or wireless?
    • What is the brand and model of the printer?

Try the following and see if it helps.

    Method 1: Disable Antivirus

If you have installed any third party such as antivirus or firewall security software, I would say you temporarily disable and check if it works.

    Disable the anti-virus software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attack.

Method 2: Update the drivers for your printer.

For more information, see these links:

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/update-a-driver-for-hardware-that-isn ' t-work correctly

    Find and install printer drivers
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/find-and-install-printer-drivers

Method 3: Restart the print spooler service.

You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.
    a. open administrative tools by clicking the Start button, then Control Panel. In the search box, type administrative tools, and then click Administrative Tools.
    b. double-click on Services.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    c. right-click the print spooler service and then click Properties.
    d. on the general tab, next to startup type, make sure that automatic is selected.
    e. If the service is not already running, under Service status, click Start and then click OK.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation,
type the password or provide confirmation.

If nothing works, then manually add the printer to the local port and check.

Method 4: Manually add the printer to the local port.

    a. go to control panel and click on devices and printers.
    b. click Add a printer, and then select Add a local printer. Click on create a new port. The default value in the drop-down list is Local Port. Don't change that.
    c. click Next.
A dialog box appears for you request that you enter a port name. Type the name of \\computer name\printer.
    d. type your user name and the name of the printer (name \\PC\printer)
    e. click ok and exit.
