  Hello, I own a B0P07PA dv6-7002tx for a year and a half, running windows 8.1, but I have a few questions, wifi is not always properly started during boot, HD4000 drivers aren't perfect either, I have the problem of video shift under Firefox.

• reset the factory default DV6 hp pavilion

  I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV6 aged of 5 years I want to restore factory settings in order to give to my nephew.

  I either lost or never done a system recovery disks. The computer did not come with recovery discs.

  The computer came pre-installed with Vista. However I've since upgraded to Win7 with the free update that was offered to me at the time of purchase.  There is a recovery D: drive / partition on the computer.  However, when I try to perform a system restore, restore HP cannot find the recovery D: partition, nor make an option to select.  How can I reset this computer to the factory settings? Even if he comes back to Vista, what would be good, and then I could use the Win7 upgrade disk to return to 7.  I just need to reset everything back to default values, and none of the normal methods of recovery work.  PLEASE NOTIFY.

  As CherylG pointed out... If you are going to install the Windows 7 upgrade, do first and you won't have to worry about the IE8 on Vista issue. You may need to put Vista SP1 before upgrading to Windows 7.

  If you intend to keep Vista on the computer, you may need to install SP1 or SP2 before installing IE8. The service packs may not show in Windows Update until the other updates have been installed.

  MSE even requires that you use a minimum of Vista SP1 before it will install.

• HP Pavilion dv6 (3040sl) - RAM not detected

  I have a problem with my laptop RAM Detection. I had my dv6 for almost 3 years. Never had any problems.

  Recently, I realized the performance became worse and worse and could not understand the reason.

  Almost by chance today I have real system says is have 2 GB of RAM instead of my usual 4 GB (has always been 4 GB).

  Nothing has changed in my pc. No major updates or anything. Does this mean that my RAM is broken? Or can we the mobo RAM slot?

  I opened the pc and the two Rams (2 GB x 2) seems ok for me. Not sure what I should do then.

  Try removing and reinstalling the memory. Also you can do a memory disk (CD or thumb drive) to test and run memtest86 to check and see if one of the modules is bad. You can also replace the modules into the two slots that need to diagnose if one of the slots is bad. If it shows 2 concerts or combining then two modules are good but a slot is bad. In last resort you can try to clean the gold leads modules very gently with a clean cloth and blowing the memory locations to see if, perhaps, dust arrived and does not have a good connection.

  I bought and HP DV6-6195 ca last year. I took it because of the good video card, mat, HD screen and fingerprint reader.

  I have been using windows 7, but at the University, they gave us Windows 8 free through MSDNAA subscription.

  I've been going to support me with a lot of pilots and gear as they always have for my hundreds of little things in HP that I owned before thinking HP... (touchpad, mouse, printers, scanners, IPaq, palm, phones, etc... "I'm an enthousiast HP!)

  Now:

  -the card Radeon HD6770 does not work

  -the fingerprint reader does not work (so sad!)

  -If the Beats audio software is installed, the audio is flat no bass...

  -the sense of cooling is not functional... (fan makes noise!)

  -switching graphics is now impossible.

  I develop electronic hardware on this computer, I really need to make it work properly. It's my toolbox for my classes. I can't live without beats (Ha ha), but not with Altium Designer crashing because the invalid video card drivers. Now, I'm really angry...

  They launched windows drivers on the AMD Web site, 8, but when installing, it says that I have a invalid system and that I should think about the manufacturer. I would contact HP, but their warranty went of 1 month and a half...

  I have a HP Pavilion DV6-3090TX about 2 years. A few months back my laptop froze and wouldn't restart normally. I wiped the hard drive and installed a version on the theme of windows 7 (30 days activation is already passed) so I can continue to use it (in the middle of my Uni term) because I didn't have the original Windows 7 disc that was used to install on my laptop. A few days ago, my battery is dead (no longer charges-warning about replacing the battery keeps popping up) and I think it's because of the incompatibility between the os and the hardware. I want to order recovery disks for my laptop to prevent other problems like this happen and hope you re - install windows 7 Home premium that came with it originally.

  I own a HP Pavilion dv6 6125sl bought the year last with processor AMD A6 3410mx

  I want to disable Turbocore so it does not work beyond 1.6 GHz (currently, it reaches 2, 3 GHz as they perform intensive tasks) to reduce heat output. I don't need the extra speed so I trade it for lower intensity and a quieter fan.

  If you want to disable the turbocore you must install application AOD (if it is not already installed).

  ONEC you have installed follow the steps below and which should help you.

  First go to AOD, preferences and switch to advanced mode.

Then go to the tab control performance and you should see the box in the lower left green test that says Turbo Core control. Until it clicks. Then, you can see the check mark next to Turbo core near the top of the window that pops up just make sure the cheque is not there then press ok and press window main OD applies and you should be good.

  The drive Self Test (DST) short error seems to indicate the hard drive is faulty and must be replaced.

  Regarding your existing files, a possible way to try to recover your files from a disk non-boot is following the process described in the link below.  The CD of the Ubuntu operating system you create can run from the CD alone (IE it doesn't have to be installed on the hard drive) and I've often found to successfully extract data even a hard failure.  When you created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can save your existing files.

  It is not a good idea to leave the power cable connected with the battery in the PC.

  You should disconnect the power supply at least once a month even if you move the laptop, run Notepad as needed and let the battery drain down until you get the low battery warning.

  I have a HP Pavillion DV6, he is three years old and I have a sort of audio problem. A year ago, my PC speakers apparently stopped working after I removed a headphone port. I did some reading and some information on what I thought was the issue. Apparently, there's a kind of switch inside the outlet helmet that indicates if there is a taken or not and if we read that there is a plug in there do not play on the speakers. It seemed that he was stuck in the position "there are headphones", so he never plays on the speakers. He don't play through headphones or speakers external, connected to the port, but not through the computer speakers.
  Now it becomes weird. I have Skyped with one of my friends last night, the first time in more than a year using Skype. I was going to plug in my headset when I realized there was sound out of the speakers! I did not understand it! I tried again and his is not out if I play videos or music, but if I try to Skype with someone it works.
  Any thoughts? I'm completely stumped.

  It looks like the audio/out becomes disabled when you plug in the headphones. We will perform some troubleshooting steps and try to resolve the issue.

  • Make sure that your speakers are properly connected to your computer.
     
  • Many computers have taken three or more who connect to a sound card or sound processor, including a jack for microphone, line-in jack and line-out. Your speakers should be plugged into the line-out socket. If you don't know what it is, try plugging your speakers to each of the jacks to see if any of them produce the sound.
  • In some cases, you can work around the problem by disabling optional speaker effects that are known as improvements. If the disabling effects speaker resolves the problem, you may need to update your audio driver.

  You can run the audio Troubleshooter and update the driver by visiting the site of computer manufacturer.
