Speakers only work for Skype

I have a HP Pavillion DV6, he is three years old and I have a sort of audio problem. A year ago, my PC speakers apparently stopped working after I removed a headphone port. I did some reading and some information on what I thought was the issue. Apparently, there's a kind of switch inside the outlet helmet that indicates if there is a taken or not and if we read that there is a plug in there do not play on the speakers. It seemed that he was stuck in the position "there are headphones", so he never plays on the speakers. He don't play through headphones or speakers external, connected to the port, but not through the computer speakers.
Now it becomes weird. I have Skyped with one of my friends last night, the first time in more than a year using Skype. I was going to plug in my headset when I realized there was sound out of the speakers! I did not understand it! I tried again and his is not out if I play videos or music, but if I try to Skype with someone it works.
Any thoughts? I'm completely stumped.

It looks like the audio/out becomes disabled when you plug in the headphones. We will perform some troubleshooting steps and try to resolve the issue.

  • Make sure that your speakers are properly connected to your computer.
     
  • Many computers have taken three or more who connect to a sound card or sound processor, including a jack for microphone, line-in jack and line-out. Your speakers should be plugged into the line-out socket. If you don't know what it is, try plugging your speakers to each of the jacks to see if any of them produce the sound.
  • In some cases, you can work around the problem by disabling optional speaker effects that are known as improvements. If the disabling effects speaker resolves the problem, you may need to update your audio driver.

You can run the audio Troubleshooter and update the driver by visiting the site of computer manufacturer.

    Yes, Synchronize only works for objects that were imported to the original (like Synchronize uses the information entered during the import to determine which database connection and the database object to compare to).

    If your model is not imported, you can achieve the same effect as follows:
    -Open the template in Data Modeler and also open the relevant physical model.
    -Do an Import of data dictionary, select the objects you want to compare with that.

    After the import phase, this will display the dialog box to compare, showing the differences between the objects imported from the database and your model.

    Note that if you intend to generate the DDL to update your database of the difference (as in "synchronize with Model Data Dictionary"), you must select the "Swap Target Model" option in step 2 (select database schema) data dictionary import wizard.

  • Microphone no longer works for Skype on Fedora 21 4.3

    Microphone is no longer recognized by Skype 4.3 after the latest updates for Fedora 21.

    I already had to move from i586 RPM to dynamic package to get Skype to work at all - but he ultimately everything works including mic.

    After the last update of Fedora 21, which included alsa and pulseaudio fixes, microphone no longer works in Skype. I tested several other applications that are configured to use pulseaudio like Audacity and Linphone, and the microphone works in each of them.

    Answered my own question. On one of my machines the problem proved that Skype could use my microphone only if it was the only input device activated under PulseAudio. While other applications use fortunately some audio available, Skype seems to have been confused in the face of any kind of choice. The solution is to disable all other audio inputs and speficially to configure my external USB mic as the sole entry. In addition I had to change the Audio setting integrated full-duplex stereo analog stereo output analog.

    I wasn't so lucky with my laptop, where I use the internal mic and therefore can't change Audio settings integrated (it must be defined as a Duplex for the microphone and speakers/headphones to work). For this reason, I am now unable to use Skype on my laptop. Accordingly, I am now exploring the possibility of using the SIP/XMPP voice and video with a client open source, which was too bad I was a customer/user of Skype for many years.

  • Control values defined by the Index function only works for a running VI?

    I've never used set of control values based on the Index before so I decided to compare it against two other ways to set the controls on the front panel, by using the invoke Ctrl.Val.Set node and nodes for the value property. But if the VI which I am trying to set the controls does not work I get error 1000 say "The VI isn't in a State compatible with this operation." When I run the VI which I am trying to set the controls, I get an error. This is VI really only work if the VI is running? I can't set the values before calling the VI to run dynamically?

    The speakers certainly work as I hear the rift of Windows to boot top.  Once started, I can't get sound from headphoones.  For about 4 months in this way.  Was OK with it but my kids wanted to watch a movie together and I can't do it with 1 helmet.  I am very computer.  I tried all the basics like reinstall drivers and check all the speaker settings. Called ASUS and the tech rep said that I have to do a system restore to machine original, brand new.  Don't want to do that.  What is the problem of Microsoft?

    Well - I ended up doing a restrore system 3 x times - the last time with a Microsoft helps technicians as the thing dang kept crashing.  I have not installed all the updates audio ASUS or Mcafee.  Now I have the sound of the headphones and speakers.

    I not continue on with mcafee on my other machines after the license expires.  Just had too many questions.

    When I restart my computer, my sound works for an hour or two and then suddenyl turns off. It does this with or without a helmet. It works again as soon as I restart the computer, but I would really do not have to restart my computer every hour just to get the sound to work.

    Try the following.

    Open windows control panel, open Windows Update, select "View update history" in the left pane and then select "Installed updates" link in the next window.

    Locate the KB2962407 update, right click and choose uninstall.  Once completed, restart the computer, open windows control panel, open Windows Update and select "Check for updates".  You will see the update that you have uninstalled just offered once again - right click and select "Hide update".

    After that you may or may not need to remove and reload the sound driver - if you do, how to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the drivers and software is detailed in the document at the link below.

    If the pesists of the problem, right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, then select playback devices.  Right click 'Speakers and headphones' (or speakers/HP), and then select Properties.  Select the Advanced tab, and then remove the check box "allow applications to take exclusive control of this device."  Click apply and then click Ok to save this change.

    Restart the laptop.

  • Flash player only works for a single user on the PC

    I'm running a PC with Windows XP and IE8 there are two accounts on the PC, one for me and one for my wife, we are both members of the Administrators group on the computer. It was that I installed everything on my account. Then he was asked to update Adobe once, the installation failed, and since it does not work on his account.

    I've been through the knowledge base and uninstalled using the Adobe cleaning tool. I haven't used any other third-party tool, although I use the microsoft file to clean the registry. I even went up to now as uninstall adobe all other relevant documents and turn off my Norton antivirus to do a reinstall.

    I do not have or that run the system only works antivirus.

    The flash drive installed large on my journal, like the installation of ActiveX. It worked great (for me) when my wife recorded it did not work. So I ran the Adobe clean uninstall once again and then tried to install my wifes log. Installed fine but adobe flash activeX will not settle, it fails to half way through.

    I then go to my login and it installs and works for me, but not on hers.

    I had a similar problem except Flash worked on some sites on one account administrator and all sites on the other. After deleting Java and re - installing and removing the Flash and reinstalling still had the same problem on this account of an administrator.

    I then deleted the history of full navigation on the account that did not work and 'Bingo', it worked. Who knows? Don't know what actually helped but remove history solved the problem in the end. Sometimes the simplest things solve the problem?

  • How can I get Vista navigation pane to only work for a specific folder view?

    I am running Windows Vista classic folders. Significant irritation is that I want to have the navigation pane enabled for the _only_ in my computer/Windows Explorer folder. I don't want that it activated for other folders with groups of icons for programs.

    But I find that when I turn it on for the first folder, it becomes activated for all. On the other hand, if I turn it off for a program icon folder, it is disabled for all files, including the Windows Explorer.

    So, how to customize the navigation pane to make it work for a folder specific _only_?

    The other models are for music or photos or videos or Documents (and I can't remember the fifth).  They show the different columns and present different data sorted differently.  I don't think they will solve your problem.

    Some general information here is on models and how to set any records that might be of interest to you (but will not solve your problem, I think):

    Here's how to change the default template for a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/70819-windows-explorer-folder-view-settings.html.  Default behavior is to select the model based on the first type of file placed in the folder (you must choose something).  Vista sets the folder type template according to what are the types of files in the window and the settings display window Explorer. This will show how to reset the display settings for the Windows File Explorer, disable Automatic folder Type Discovery (which is I think what you want)and increase the folder display the cache to make Vista do not forget the display settings, the folder type template, the size or the position of a specific window for when it was still closed to the location of specific path.

    It does not work with the Sub record under, Open with, open in a new tab (Internet Explorer), etc... dialog windows of type through the good File menu bar item. These don't seem to be able to have their size or their position to recall. For the latter, you can use the free program http://autosizer.en.softonic.com/ to resize them.

    Here is another article on how to modify the columns in Windows Explorer and sort in Vista: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/108665-column-customize.html.  This will show you how Add, Remove, move, change the widthand change the sort order of the columns in Windows Explorer in the way that you want.

  • Toshiba 32W2433DG auto stop signal only works for the analog TV

    I recently bought a 32W2433DG led TV.
    This TV has supposedly auto signal feature where if no signal is found for 15 minutes, the TV is supposed to go in standby mode.

    However, the only way I've seen this work, is if the TV is on analog TV.
    None of the other methods of entry, either digital like hdmi or analog as the SCART, don't trigger the minute 15 none of signal strength.

    Surely, this must be a bug in the firmware?

    I wouldn't mind this problem IF I could get the TV to go to 'snow' (the method of analog TV input) after having turned off my hdmi device, but unfortunately, it seems that want to switch to analog tv after using another entry SOMETIMES turn off a unit SCART.

    I also wouldn't mind, if the regular automatic power down when idle could be reduced by default 4 hours to say 1 hour.

    The file firmware would be somehow modded to allow energy standby more short time (run it via a hex editor?)?

    I don t think that the firmware could be modded or edited by joint customers of TV.

  • "Scan to computer" the printer only works for admins

    HP Officejet 6700, OS X Lion. Latest version of the software.

    Only admin users can scan the printer using the screen touch "Scan to Computer".  The non-admin users get communication errors. The computer is listed and after choosing works very well if the admin user is the active connection. But if a standard user is the current user, then it does not work. Scanning HP utility does not connect on the standard user account to "Activate the Scan of the computer". That translates into a communication error. But return to the admin, and it connects.

    Surely, it works in a context of user multi for non-admins. Do the other admin users is not an option.

    Standard users can use the HP scanning app on the computer, but the family loves the conveinence of the button "Scan of the computer. Its a nice feature. But seems broken.

    Fixed it! I just needed you to give me advice in the right direction. File on the file plist property seemed incorrect, so I changed to match the other hp plist file:

Possible sound when I tried to fix my problem of no printing in January, one of the suggestions involved edit this file plist for HP Device monitor has not started, because it has been reported to cause problems in the past. Too bad repair disk permissions did not catch it. Thank you very much. Scan of the computer is a nice feature. (Although, the constant polling of devices HP monitor I see in the activity monitor always makes me nervous.)

    I have several e-mail addresses configured in the list of authorized sender, but it seems to work only for e-mail messages sent from the e-mail address (main) of the owner. I get a confirmation email when I use other e-mail addresses, saying that "labor received ePrint" but no dice.

    Please start with the update of the printer by getting the latest Firmware and updates given that a firmware update available.  After completing the update of the firmware, please restart the printer.  Once the printer has been restarted, please try to send another email to the address of electronic mail of the ePrint printer.

  • PWR turned SX50 HS. Screen only works for review...

    Prefer to use the screen instead of the viewfinder on this camera. However, the screen stopped working today. (To look at an object) I can only frame shots, view menu and change the settings using the viewfinder.

    I have a Blackberry Pearl 8100 Smartphone. I was quickly able to get a bluetooth headset to work with her. Unfortunately, when playing music headset does not work (the sound only comes out the phone via the handset or the speaker).     Hi, I have a problem with the video recording of vlc player and their opening upward. Once save the .avi video it doesn't give me the audio. It does not with .mp4, however. Which cuts and works fine when I play the video.

    He just started doing last week. I do gifs with clips and load it into photoshop.

    Even for other types of software, this thing of décolletage, it cuts fine .mp4, but once I try to cut the .avi, it becomes only the audio.
    I wonder is something wrong with my laptop and settings? I don't know how it would have changed. Or damaged something in my laptop.

    Wi - Fi my laptop is steady as a rock, but the wireless adapter I have for my office to cancel very often, so I decided to connect both via an ethernet cable and use internet connection sharing so that the Office can enjoy wireless laptop. Both computers have Windows 7 Home Premium installed.

    The Installer seems to work, but only for some Web sites - for example, it has no problem to connect to google and microsoft.com using ICS, but he absolutely refuses to connect to facebook but also many other Web sites.
