HP DV7 4165dx connection inconsistencies

I had this computer for a little over a month now, after purchase from Best Buy.  The computer itself works perfectly except for a problem that I can not even diagnose.  For some reason, the internet on this computer shuts down after about five minutes of use, and despite the wireless connection manager telling me otherwise, I get no internet connection for about 20 seconds.  After that, it works fine, until five minutes once again.  Roughly, the internet starts to turn on and off, and while I play a game like Call of Duty World at War online, for example, I get an error message saying 'missed connection '.  I can I can hear very well despite this error, but it's about as boring as it gets to not be able to get live internet content for more than five minutes at a time.  Does anyone know why this is, or a way to fix it?  Help is, of course, appreciated.

I see, so the question probably isn't with laptops and more is probably to the ISP, especially if you have two wireless routers to connect to and they both fail.  I would call the ISP and tell them your problem happens on two laptops, on each router.  They should be able to test the connection on their side and see if there is a problem (which I bet there).

I get an error: toshiba mk6465gsx ata device on my HP Pavilion dv7-4165dx Entertainment Notebook.

I don't know how much it will cost to get replaced, nor which breaks its failure. The Geek Squad Agent I spoke with said that this failure can happen to new machines, even in a month. It's really random.

Knowing however the problem will help you to get an estimate over the phone or through music online with an agent.

  • Can I set up my HP dv7-4165dx to boot from the second hard drive?

I got a HP dv7-4165dx for about 20 months now. Ten months in the original hard drive burned due to setting up directly under the GPU (lower left corner, to the left of the touchpad and under the keys), which gets quite hot on the top to make your uncomfortable hand. Symptoms include blue screens, troubled during start-ups, as well as a message from the system at boot that said the car was damaged. As it was under warranty, I brought it to Best Buy to get the drive replaced, which took about 2.5 months.

Now, about 20 months, I face at the beginning of the exact same symptoms. I noticed that there was a second HDD Bay, away from the GPU, so I bought the yarn necessary to the use of this Bay. Now, he tells me that there is no installed boot drive (the hard drive test in the system diagnostics, knows that it is there). I'm sure that I can swap the drive towards the original Bay and be fine but that puts me $ 75 for the HP kit (Yes, I know I might have to eat that, if there is no way), but much more importantly, this means that I will have an another burned (losing everything, even once) by car a month or two.

I looked, but I can't seem to find a way to tell it boot from that drive. Is it possible, or am I just out of the eye due to bad design? It has been a great machine, except for this problem.

    Hello

Unfortunately there is no option to boot from the HARD drive in the 2nd Bay in one of the series dv7 - sorry for the bad news.

    Best regards

  • Locking on the dv7-4165dx function

    Hi all.  I have a dv7-4165dx.

The keyboard is equipped with a set of F keys at the top with additional functions for each key, as brightness, media, wireless power buttons, etc.

The F keys are disabled by default.  Thus, for example, if I hit f5 to get a refresh of the web page, nothing happens.  I hold the fn button AND the f5 key in order to get a page refresh.

I wonder if there is a way to lock/unlock the fkeys, so I don't have to press and hold fn with other button?

You can disable this feature by turning off "Action keys Mode" in the BIOS...

  • HP Pavilion DV7 6154ea: HP pavilion DV7 6154ea connection keeps losing signal

Experiencing Wifi connection problems where the signal falls systematically after maybe 10 to 15 minutes of use. Is underway for the past 2 months or so. Guess it was my network, but after going through the configuration of the router, check connection on other laptops HP at home that work perfectly I guess something must be set right.

Has been informed by a member of support Paul who was very helpful to help restore me the laptop to windows 8 to 7.

Having recently upgraded to the SSD, perform a new installation of the OS a few days where drivers when installed through the ordered recovery disks, HP support, you are prompted to any update more or less all the drivers using the new assistant support, I would add much like ago.

In any case on the device noticed Control Manager are now 4 cards under network adapters:

    -Intel(r) centrion (R) Wireless-N-1030

-Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Port adapater

-Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Port adapater #2

    -Realtek PCIe GBE family controller.

#2 of the one is double and maybe causing the problem.

As far as I know I thought that this model only required of these network drivers:

-Intel Wireless driver for microsoft Windows 7

    -realtek LAN Driver

    -intel Pro set bluetooth driver

Would be great for someone could confirm. Don't know how to move forward with this? Download the necessary drivers while that uninstall the old drivers? If so which ones should be deleted, guessing each of them?

Mean time tried to hell be able to save, not much success. To be honest after noticing these adapters, it immediately at odds with what I knew and was informed months ago I wanted so just clear it first with you guys.

    Hello:

I just checked my laptop which also has an Intel wireless card and it has the same features listed.

Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Port card

Map Microsoft Virtual Wifi Mini Port #2

So I would say to both of them, because my laptop has no problems with the connection and maintaining a connection to the internet.

Have you tried the latest driver for this model directly from Intel wireless card?

It would be the only suggestion I can offer you.

You want the second pilot on the list for W7 x 64.

My laptop says it's connected wireless, with the signal strength excellent, however when I click on search via IE or Chrome, it indicates that it is not connected to the internet. When I connect the cable to the router, I can search on the internet.

  • Computer laptop dv7 takes too long to start

About two weeks ago, I buy a laptop pavilion dv7-4165dx because I really like the features of the laptop. When I turn on the computer, it took about 10 minutes to start after the initial installation. I got at best buy because I thought it was a faulty hard drive, because any given work very well, at best buy told me that the laptop was fine and had no problems. But I still have the same problem because take laptop about 3 to 4 minutes at the start he crashes in the welcome message, after I typed my password. I have already updated all drivers and BIOS, can someone help me.

    Hello

I would get Best Buy to replace the notebook that you really shouldn't have these kinds of issues with a whole new machine.  It could be that the Windows image is bad, or some other hardware related issue.  I would definetely get that he replaced however.

    All the best,
