HP DV7-7240us fingerprint reader problem

8.1 Windows recognizes the fingerprint reader, but if I try to connect it says that error preventing use of your fingerprint credentials. I have all the updates to the BIOS, the fingerprint driver and HP simplepass. HP simplepass closes after that I scan my fingerprints. What should I do?

I actually solved it by uninstalling the driver and the software, and then restart the computer. Then I reinstalled the driver and it worked!

    Hey Midsyork,

Looks like you run Digital Persona SimplePass flavor.

Two things to try, in order:

    • Hard reset
    • Remove and reinstall the validity sensor driver

    Hard Reset:

Sometimes, all you need to do is the computer suddenly.  This method works for a variety of connection and "glued" program issues.

    • Disconnect all the external devices first.
    • Remove the AC power and battery
    • Press and hold the power button while in the minus 30 seconds
    • Reinstall the power supply for the first start only * see Note
    • Power on - connect
    • Next time you shut down the system, replace the battery.

    * Note: You can ignore the little battery aside.  If you wish, replace the battery the first time and do it with her.

    Check the software...

If it still does not work, go ahead.

    • Control Panel > Device Manager > biometric devices > Validity Sensor > uninstall > delete
    • Reboot ...

    Validity Sensor V2.1.0.2

    • Install the validitysensorDriverinstallationpackage: it if called sp*.exe - the package will be most likely located in the downloads folder.  If you have control of "Admin", you can highlight the package and "double-click on ' to install it, otherwise just right-click, select"Run as Administrator"and install.

This can kick things hard enough to restore the Digital Persona software.  You can hit him harder, but first...

    What about the rest...

You could consider running a full system scan.  I'm a demon for this.  I like a healthy file system.  It cannot solve the problem, but it will ensure that the issue is not a messed up system files, which CAN cause all sorts of unpleasant and troubled issues.  You do not really have to 'look' like a mother hen during analysis, look at the logs or 'DO' something.  He's going to take care of yourself and try to fix what it can.  The only time where that must involve it is things do not go well...  Is there a doc to help at the end to tell you what does this thing.  It is not harmful and, unless your system is broken, and it's going to die anyway, it will only make things better than they are now.

    scannow SFC

Analyze and fix the system.  The sfc/scannow command. who will do - it will scan the operating system, looking for corrupted files and inconsistencies; He will replace or repair everything he can.  If it finds corrupted programs or libraries, it will try to correct them.

    • Start menu > all programs > Accessories > right click on guest > select ' run as administrator'
    • In the command prompt window, type (or copy / paste) sfc/scannow , and then press enter.

(Note the space between sfc and the ' / '.)

The sfc scan will report its findings and you can look at the results:

    • Open an command prompt (it doesn't have to be as an administrator):
    • Use the command copy to create a copy of file readable by the output:

    %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log copy %userprofile%\desktop\cbs.txt

If "scannow" does not properly complete, try running:

    SFC /verifyonly

Copy the results to a text file, extract the output file in Notepad and look for errors that could not fix the full scan.

Help file for the System FIsland Checker command:

The Windows Vista or Windows 7 System File Checker tool

  • HP Pavilion dv6 QJ916AAR: fingerprint reader problems

    Hello

This is my first post so I apologize if it appears in the wrong place. I'll have a problem with the fingerprint reader and HP simple pass identity protection software that came with my Dv6-QJ916AAR. For some reason any all of a sudden since this morning it will not work. There is no light on the sensor, and it fails every time and movement. When I run the single pass software and go to the fingerprint section, it shows the fingerprint reader is not connected. Interestingly, when I go to Device Manager I see no biometric devices listed under there. I read on another thread that some options below biometic devices in Device Manager solves the problem.

I already tried pass Simple uninstall/reinstall the Recovery Manager and also uninstalled and updated validity sensor but still no go.  Here are some other details:

    Laptop model: Dv6-QJ916AAR

Operating system: Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

I can't find any other information on how to solve it. Can anyone help?

    Thank you!

I installed "hp client security" and it solved the problem. There not even not need software "impression of validity Finder" and all you need is the finder print driver.

  • Pavilion DV6-6119wm fingerprint reader problems

For about 2 years, my fingerprint reader did not. I'm looking to sell the laptop and worth almost double with the work fingerprint reader. I updated the BIOS, digital and HP SimplePass fingerprint reader driver. The drive appears in the biometric devices under Device Manager and says it's working properly. When I go to the control panel > biometric devices, it shows as unavailable validity sensor. Seriously, the only thing that I did not until now to get this thing working properly is completely replace the Board of fingerprinting, which I doubt is necessary because it appears in Device Manager. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? The sooner, the better! Thank you!

    Hello @tylernelson224,

I read your post on how you're looking to restore functions to scan fingerprint on your laptop, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

In order to get your fingerprint in functional order reader, I recommended that you perform a backup and restore of your operating system. This can be done by following this document on the backup of files (Windows 7), and more to perform a recovery of the system HP (Windows 7). This should help get your system back to factory settings. If the problem persists, the fingerprint reader may be damaged.

    I hope this helps!

I don't have the same model but a similar model serial DM4. The value of path I have are:

  • software of fingerprint reader problem

Hello Yes.  I just bought this new Dell Latitude E 5440 with Windows 7 64 Bit Enterprise Edition is installed.  I downloaded most of the drivers successfully.  But could not find a compatible fingerprint reader software.  I have the drivers for it just not the software.  And the option to register my fingerprints in the windows user account page is not there.  All solutions?  Does anyone have a solution to this problem?  Thank you!

If it is a new Dell laptop, what drivers were you install? they would already have been installed by Dell, and updates the driver would have been obtained from Dell support.

You did the mistake of using windows update to install the recommended updates, that would have included drivers?

Regarding the fingerprint reader, assuming that it is the Dell player, its software/drivers would have been installed by Dell

  • Fingerprint reader problem

Fingerprint reader has stopped working.  Tried to re-register fingerprints, got the window: software error of fingerprints, in which it says an internal error has occurred (rpnp2: No. - svr (00000000usserver)). Another similar message has added a code: 0xe7210005. I'm wasting my time trying to re - install the software? The device manager says that he works, and I've uninstalled and restarted to leave the sytem to find the device. The hardware is at fault? Do I need a new drive?

Check if you have the two fingerprints of Thinkpad Lenovo Fingerprint Reader AND installed Reader and check that you have tried to use. I had the same problem and uninstalled the Lenovo one - I think they came as part of the first installation of ThinkVantage / System and then updates it updated / downloaded a new version and they are in conflict with eachother (or, rather, Windows tried to use one, while the other was one really to work with fingerprint reader).

Hey Chris... I had a similar problem with the reader of fingerprints on my W530 a month ago. He has stopped responding at times. the control on this LED flashing sometimes and sometimes it wouldn't. Drivers and software is up to date.

I tried literally everything under the Sun to eliminate any software problem. Could not work.

It turned out to be a hardware problem.

  • Satellite Pro A300-1NT - fingerprint reading problem

After you have reinstalled the good old windows XP with Windows 7 recovery disk, my laptop starts, and he said "identification system fingerprint not alivailibile." Well I connect via password and go to the truesuite - administrator. I try del all fingerprint - error: failed to remove fingerprints.

Well I'm going to settings-> delete-> DELETE fingerprints. fine. Theres only 1 - in the Windows 7 box. betai sketch hands shows nothing. I click on remove and click OK. If I open the box, he says even imprint.

The problem is (I have managed to do it before, but I forgot)-how to remove this print so I can register again? the said registration which could not open the database! :|

Hi, I have an amd thinkpad model x131e 3372 runnning windows 7 and I have problems with the ThinkVantage fingerprint software. Whenever I try to register a fingerprint, I get these errors:

I really need help. Its driving me crazy that I am not able to use my fingerprint to unlock my pc or check the passwords.

  • DV7-4073nr - fingerprint reader does not work after the upgrade to HP Support Assistant

    Hello

I have a problem right now. The HP support assistant suggested that I had to upgrade the software of fingerprints to be upgraded and I did it without delay. Restart, the drive does not work. Windows 7 says it's a bad data. no password HP does. What should I do?

Turn the computer off, and then once you turn on, keep the F8 key several times to load the "Windows Advanced startup options" screen. In this screen either select mode safety/Safe mode with networking and log in to your user account by entering the password manually.

Once that is done, do a restore of the system through the control panel and restore your computer to an earlier date, whenever it was working fine. Once the restore process is done, change the settings for HP Support Assistant auto do not install updates
