I have tried those doing hard reset stuff like by pressing the power button for 20 seconds, the power button / stop + mute all these and nothing do not seem to work? What should I do? Its only a few days old!

It turns out that it is a manufacturing defect. Application of a new replacement unit (5 days only), technician says probably motherboard problem. Thanks anyway!

  • ENVY Touchsmart 15J000: does not start

My Hp Envy 15 D0D78AV aka the j000

It has a processor AMD 5750 M and the thing dual graphics.

Flashing caps lock once every 15 s or indicates that the CPU is not responding.

I removed the radiator and fan to clean and it starts not since. I bought a new CPU for it and its still does not (yes I put the new Paste on it).

There was a piece of tape metally who went from the fan on the heatsink that I have more I don't think anything of it. is this some sort of ground causing it to think its overheating?

I have the power to all the usbs fan works and the HARD drive makes noises so I don't think that the mobo is burned.

Bassically the screen not turning on it is the fan turns on full speed as usuall and then down and quiet for about 10 seconds or so then gets up to operating speed. and then it just sits there doing nothing just the caps lock blink once every 15 years or more. I don't know what else to do and I can't afford a new laptop and I need for College security literally missed a month ago.

    Help, please!

Blink codes may look like a bad treatment, but almost invariably, it's really the motherboard. Here you have posted here before that you bought a new processor. Now you have 2 good I'm afraid. And you have this tape to the heat sink. He directs the air on the grid of the fan and without it the laptop will not cool right. But that is irrelevant at the moment until we can get it to the POST.

  • HP Envy 15 Touchsmart does not start after the bios update

I had one laptop touchsmart from HP Envy 15 (initially Windows 8, windows 8.1 now) for about 2 months now and have not had any problems, until a few hours ago I tried to update the bios of my laptop with the hp support assistant. After the reboot, the pc is more would start up and took me to a blue screen with the error SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. Everything that I've done short far from a refreshment or a reset has not worked and if I could I would avoid both that I don't have the bandwidth to download windows 8.1 again.

    HI Calsius:

Thank you for your query.  I will be happy to help in any way I can!

After the Windows 8.1 update, did you create a restore point?  If so, you can use to restore from that date and not lose your 8.1 updated.  Some BIOS have an option for a restoration which should not affect your operating system.  I did a search of Microsoft and found this answer click here.   Here is a document on the ' update the BIOS'   click here.»  You did not provide your model number and the HP Envy 15, is a series, so I couldn't get a specific documentation for your computer.  Here is a document on ' computer will start (Windows 8) " click here. If you are able to get your computer running and upward I update all the driversand then create a restore point to return if necessary.  If the Bios update should fail a 2nd time, your restore point will take back you to just before you retried the update. If you were to use the recovery option you need go back to Windows 8, or back to the factory.

Please let me know if this helped.

  • Envy 15-j059nr: Envy 15-j059nr would not start Windows after update to win10 now the hard drive is missing

This system worked before Windows 8.1 it has been upgraded to Windows 10 last year. It's my boyfriends computer and last night it kept getting blue screen dreaded with errors on his hard drive. He kept ignoring. Then, his computer's battery died and when he started upward, he could get a blue screen and act as if it would repair itself and would just start all over again. He was going in a loop. He did not know what he was doing, but searched on the Internet and ended up messing around any more.

Its installation was 850 GB HD 3 partitions, it was set up as a Raid was one the main C drive, one was the restore disc and the other hides. He changed the disk. He changed a few things in bios too, but I don't know exactly what.

The problelm I have right now, is that when that I boot without the USB bootable media, I created, I'm stuck at a screen that says there is no startup disk and no installed operating system and press F2 to run Diagnostics. When I run the diagnostics, just fine, no errors.

When I try to recover, repair, reimage or anything other that to reinstall, it goes back to the screen I mentioned above which does not allow me to do anything about this either, with the exception of past at the command prompt, which is X and not C. I did a dir/w and only seen the windows files are here , but under the users directory, documents and images are empty, so don't know if it's even watch what I think it is.

When I want to install Windows 10, everything goes smooth and then bam, he wants that pilots. I can't find the drivers for this laptop who don't have the .exe and require installation. This notebook is not a CD/DVD player on it. I don't mind doing a reformat and start all over, if I could recover his pictures on his hard drive. They are his grandfather.

    Help, please!

    Thank you in advance!

    AggieFan378

    You are the very welcome.

Unfortunately, I woudn't be able to help you with that.

I'm afraid that the PC is now a useless paperweight because of the BIOS update has failed.  There is usually no recourse other than to replace the motherboard.

If all goes well, you were able to recover the files before that happened, and if not, get a SATA cable adapter USB and read the hard drive on another PC.

  • Desktop HP Envy 700qe: failure motherboard on HP Envy 700qe desktop, does not start

My computer does not start.  It's the same problem I had in December 2015 still under warranty.  HP replaced the motherboard.  Now (July 2016) is once again, it is beyond the 90 days replacement warranty.  I can buy another motherboard for replacement and install it myself?  If Yes, what is the replacement part that I should look for?  I have Intel core i7-4770 3.4 G 8 M 84w CPU and 2 TB of disk hard.

You're welcome, @Bobirdie.  Thank you for the additional information.

This is a refurbished motherboard from Newegg.  Personally, I would have no problem to buy from them.  I bought thousands of dollars of computer components to them.  You can look at the following to see if you can find one for less money.  I think you'd be able to find a new one on ebay.

If you have never replaced a motherboard, and even if you replaced one, my best advice is take some very good pictures of the motherboard before you start deleting connections.  I normally lable cables on the power supply unit (PSU).  It would be good to take pictures of the connectors to the front of the case, too.  This will save you a lot of frustration later.  It is not difficult if you take your time and I suggest to use an anti-static wristband to make sure you do not damage the components.

Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

  • Envy 17: laptop does not start

Yesterday, I downloaded the update for Adope Flash fixed zero-day, and in a few hours, my laptop crashed and does not start. Yes, maybe it is not something, but it's the only addition I made for a laptop works perfectly.

Software HP tries to fix the problem without success. Or go back to a system restore point. An entry stops the process. I have a repair for Windows 7, 64 bit disc, but when the system crashed there is a CD in the drive and having no control, can't do this, unless you can give me the steps to try it.

The other shows, alternatives HP is a supposedly reduced image recovery affecting the OS, drivers and the software selected. This means that my programs and data remain intact in this process.

The last alternative offered is to restore the State of the plant.  Any suggestions are appreciated

    @qpen ,

Hello again.  You have to do is remove the CD-ROM drive in your system, it's usually a screw that holds it in.

With regard to the recovery he will wipe away your own system so you need to do is to take it to someone to back up your files by removing the hard drive and put it in an external hard drive enclosure.

I hope that it is of little help.

Thanks again for posting and have a great day.

  • Want H8-1534: could not start HP Envy H8-1534 pc after Windows update 10, 1607

Windows 10 has made automatically update 1607 (KB3176936) on the pc of my wife (HP Envy H8-1534) about 6 days ago. Since then I could not start the pc the first time I turn it on.

When I hit the power button on the monitor lights up with the HP logo on black screen as usual but the loading icon (spinning points) does not start. Fans start, but there is no activity on the Tower in the way of flashing lights or beep sounds. If I turned off the pc by using the power button, wait 10 seconds and turn on again, the pc will start up as normal. So far, for the last 6 days, it took the 2nd attempt so that it starts the pc every time. It almost seems as if there are not able to go to the system except for the fans in this first attempt to start.

I ran a test at startup by pressing the F2 key without no problems found. I disabled the SATA power management in the BIOS. I ran the Windows startup with no result repair. Here are the results of the txt file.

I researched all the possibilities. I fear that this could begin to worsen. Any help will be appreciated.

  • HP envy Phoenix: win 7 does not start with connected external hard drive

I have a desktop HP Envy Phoenix with i7 chip and an SSD for the OS.  If I connect via USB external drive of 3 TB WD for the backup of the system does not start while it is attached.  The pc seems to be trying to boot from the outside, can't find the OS and does not start.  It will start fine with small external drives connected.  It is the size of the disk? Is there a way to fix this?

    Hello

The WD drives seem to pose problems of my potential.  I have used other brands such as Seagate and Hitachi without running into problems with external USB drives causing the system to boot.  Maybe it's the USB adapter that I use which does not cause starting problems.

    @tpetras

I used the adapter HP USB 3, which uses drivers NEC or TI and has never had a problem starting via a USB external (non - WD) readers.

  • Envy 17 j120na: 10 Windows will not start because of the driver installation failed

    History:

I have a computer laptop j120na Envy 17 that came with windows 8.1.

I did the free upgride for windows 10 the 18th of this month with success, but because I was not able to decrease or increase the brightness of my computer, or put it to sleep, I realized that I still had to download/update drivers. First I updated the driver GeForce since my SWsetup folder but for the other, I searched online for her, then I saw the driver download progress bar but no progress has been made. I closed the dialog close and there you go, laptop does not start, I just saw a spark between the mouse pointer and the circular blue contraption. Sometimes he shows me a BSOD with lock core auto boost with irql higher acquisition.

    Question:

Is this a problem with the driver installation? And if so, how do I return it?

P.s: System Restore is not an option, I restore point.

    Hi there @Aj1baba,

Thank you for joining the Forums HP's Support and welcome! It is a great place to ask questions, find solutions and assistance of HP and the community! I read your post on the Forums of HP Support. I wanted to join you and help! I understand that you are receiving an error message that says "acquisition of lock core auto boost with irql high ' on your HP ENVY 17-j120na Notebook PC.

The question could be deemed to occur by downloading the update. It is difficult to say at this stage. As to return to it, your best bet would have been the restoration of the system, but you mentioned only that a system restore does not work because you do not have restore points.

Have you tried to go into Safe Mode?

You have media or recovery disk?

Have you tried to do a Reset BIOS?

Have you tried perform a hard reset?

You have beep codes or flashing LEDs?

Please ensure that all Bluetooth device that you use with the laptop is disabled (including mobile phone).

Please note: delete all USB/Bluetooth devices. Disconnect all devices of non-essential, as these can cause some problems.

You can update all your drivers by going to the Web site the driver HP or by using the HP Support Assistant. If you enter Safe Mode, I suggest trying to erase the driver that you have downloaded your downloads (or the folder that you saved it in), so I suggest to make updates using updates of Windows or HP Support Assistant for now.

  • HP-ENVY-23-d200: error no bootable floppy detected or could not start.

Hello, I would be very happy to help of the computer. (I'm not all that tech savvy) even if I know a little.

I have a HP Envy (all in one computer)

    Here is a link http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-ENVY-23-d200-TouchSmart-All-in-One-Desktop-PC-series/5359011/...

A few days ago, I noticed a few severe freezing. But I could still on my moms on the computer account. It happened because I had turned off the so-called "WMI provider host" I disabled it because he gave me a super high CPU usage. I also read that it was good to disable. But after that, I wasn't able to get into the account admin without her panic. Finally I had refreshed the computer which helped a lot.

BUT after I had updated to 8.1 (which I have before) I STILL severe freezing. In my attempts to get that to stop, I have completed the tasks that I knew wouldn't freak out my computer. Finally I got fed up with it and tried to factory restore it. BUT during this attempt, my computer freaked out and never finished than restoring plant. He said then that the partition to restore disappeared? After all, I am finally back in the computer said it was fine, and nothing has changed. In order to be smart (for once), I moved everything I had on my external hard drive computer. I also went on the link above looking for updates of pilot thinking that the freezing issue had something to do with it. Had all these installs fact rebooted my computer to receive this error message on ipv4 (ipv6) pxe boot which had not my computer says "error no bootable floppy detected or could not start.»

I then searched a solution for the PXE on error. Finally got in the bios and that oppresses. Saved and put off the computer. To my surprise the error went away but not only no bootable floppy detected or could not start.

Then I went to diagonstics and everything seems to work very well. But my question is "is my hard drive of the computer by train to die?" (I have a deep feeling that is close to death) But not so sure, if the hard drive is not the problem. I was going to just to install a new OS which probably will Windows 10 because I don't have money to buy windows 8.1.

I thank you very much in advance for reading and assistance!
