Your laptop of HP ENVY 17-j150ca is basically the same as my computer laptop HP ENVY 15 t-j100 CTO, only bigger. You will need to provide the Intel AHCI / RAID drivers during the first part of the installation. Please download "f6flpy-x 64.zip" of Intel Download Center. Expand this and place the file/folder on a USB key. Then;

(1) DISABLE "Secure starting" and ACTIVATE the standby mode 'legacy' in the BIOS. Save and EXIT

(2) enter code as it is necessary to recognise the change

(3) reboot and press 'ESC' and then 'F9' when prompted. Select "UEFI - CD/DVD" or "UEFI - USB key... and boot from the DVD of Windows 7 SP1 or a USB key.
4) click install now
(5) to accept the license agreement
(6) when the option to select an installation type, click (custom)

(7) there will be a link called it loads drivers, insert the USB stick with the Intel AHCI / RAID drivers, select the USB and it should load the appropriate driver.

(8) continue the installation by following all the guests... BE SURE TO SELECT THE PARTITION NOT USED FOR INSTALLATION

Good luck

Most of the Windows 7 drivers for the TouchSmart from HP ENVY 17 t-j100 CTO Notebook PC drivers of Quad Edition page should work on your computer.

Installing Windows 7 on your HP ENVY computer Notebook dv7-7234nr is not supported by HP. In addition, no Windows 7 driver is listed on HP Software and Driver Downloads page for your computer.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 and it will support the installation of Windows 7 on a computer comes with Windows 8. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not support some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

  • Usable memory (RAM) less than the installed memory, showing remove Win7 dual-boot.

Original title: "Memory (RAM): 12,00 GB (3.62 GB usable)", how can I resolve this issue and remove a dual boot Win7?

I recently, after experincing problems (see below the Intel SSD), noticed the system said that there is only a 3.62 GB of Ram available in my computer.  I have this statement ' Installed Memory (RAM): 12,00 GB (3.62 GB usable) "the computer has always used a higher around 10-11 GB amount.

I noticed that the Windows performance index was 5.6, after adding an Intell 240 GB SSD, it jumped to 7.6; However, now with the problems is 5.4, caused by the RAM.

I ran the full memory diagnostics: start-up and verification of memory it says I have 12 GB of RAM can be used across both.  I asked with Asrock if my RAM and CPU compatible before buying it, and they said it was a wise decision for 970 Extreme4 motherboard.  I subsequently has inquired about the Kingston RAM and included information from a - Data, and they said they used Kingston ringout for approval process as with a - DATA, including the compatibility of the different types of RAM used together.  The RAM was tested and is placed on the store of the computer.
This problem did not exist until I installed the Intel SSD.

I don't have a problem with dual boot on my computer after installing a new 7 ultimate on the SSD, and when it worked normally, I atttached the old hd back into your computer, because important data it contains.  This caused a situation of dual-boot.  I did some research and jumped the drive as a slave thinks that it would not cause a problem.  How can I remove Windows 7 from the old hd and then remove the window dual-boot.  I tried the old way to change the startup configuration, however, I can't find it in 7 Ultimate SP1. I also sent the old HD and the start window remained, as the index and the usable Ram 3.62.

    My Questions as already said:
How can I return to a usable 12 GB of RAM and return the highest Index of Exp Win?
How the dual boot can be edited to boot from my SSD without window startup and remove window 7 my old HD eventually without formatting?

  • Windows 7 and 8 dual boot

Hi, I receive a TouchSmart from HP Envy 15-j023sa for Christmas. http://www.johnlewis.com/hp-envy-touchsmart-15-j023sa-laptop-intel-core-i5-4gb-ram-1tb-15-6-touch-sc....

If I had to choose between Windows 7 and 8, I would prefer 8 to the Appstore, and with the laptop's touch and be impressed with Windows 8, when I tried it. I've been thinking to dual boot Windows 7 and 8 on the laptop, as I have a few games that is not compatible with Windows 8. I understand that the old operating system must be installed first.

The best sollution would be to upgrade to Windows 7, a copy of Windows 8 and install it on a different partition or y at - it an easy sollution? And will it affect my warranty of 3 years? I would also like to ask quickly on Ubuntu. I find myself probably won't install on this machine that I've read about the compatibility issues with Windows 8, but will it affect my warranty should I choose to do?

  • Windows 8 and the dual boot XP

I have Windows 8 is installed on my PC (Athlon, 2 GB of RAM) and want to install Windows XP too due to a need. If I install Windows xp, would windows 8 destroyed as in 7 that he did?
    Any help woud greatly appreciated.

Forget the drivers and all that... just a simple question "would win 8 work or not after installing XP?

    Nope.

What follows refers to Windows 7, but the same principles apply to Windows 8:

The following instructions will show how dual boot Windows 7 and XP on your machine instead of replacing one with the other.

It is important that you have a reinstall or repair disk in case you should reinstall or repair your installation of WIndows 8.

The following article will show you how to create a repair disk (Windows 7, the same instructions for Windows 8 references):

    http://notebooks.com/2011/02/09/how-to-create-a-system-repair-disc-in-Windows-7/

    Drivers for Windows XP:

You first need to know if your computer is compatible with Windows XP. Much more modern computers are gradually support for Windows XP.

    Create Partition

Open a command run (press Windows + R key) on your keyboard. Then type diskmgmt.msc, and then press enter on your keyboard.

Once the disk management is open, select the C:\ or where Windows 8 is installed.

Right click and click on the retractable menu.

Please wait while Windows 8 checks the available space on the disc.

Enter the amount you want to assign.

    Click OK.

The disk management window should display the unallocated disk space.

    --------------------------------------------

    Install Windows XP

In order to install Windows XP on the partition you created, you will need to boot into your BIOS, then set it to IDE HDD mode.

    --------------------------------------------

    After you set the IDE HDD mode, you can continue to install Windows XP on the partition you created;

Insert your Windows XP CD, and then restart your computer.

When you are prompted to boot from the CD, do so. To do this, press any key on the keyboard.

Windows XP will go into its configuration process.

Once you arrive at the welcome configuration, press enter on your keyboard to start the installation process

Press F8 on your keyboard to accept the license agreement

    Select partition

Select Format the partition using the NTFS file system

Press F on your keyboard to start the formatting.

Installation files will now be copied to your hard drive

Your system will be rebooted, the installation of Windows XP will continue

    ----------------------------------------------

After Windows XP installs successfully, you will not be able to boot in Windows 8, here comes the recovery for Windows 8 disc.

Boot from the DVD Windows 8

    (a) in the screen install now

    (b) click on repair your computer

    (c) click on Advanced Options

    (d) click on troubleshoot

    (e) click on startup repair

    (f) follow the instructions on the screen

    --------------------------------------------

After you have repaired your installation Windows 8 and try to start it, you will notice that Windows 8 will not start.

Boot into the BIOS again and choose the SATA hard drive mode. You will now be able to start Windows 8 again.

    -------------------------------------------

    After that, download EasyBCD and add a startup for Windows XP for Windows 8 boot manager entry;

EasyBCD by NeoSmart Technologies would be your answer, it provides a graphical front-end to the BCDEdit Command line that makes it easy for you to set the boot settings and change the entries start on the new Windowsboot Manager. http://NeoSmart.NET/DL.php?id=1

    ------------------------------------------

The next step is now make it possible for Windows 8 start in IDE mode.

Here are the instructions to do this:

    http://www.Vistax64.com/general-discussion/271218-switch-AHCI-IDE-tutorial-HOWTO.html

Welcome to all, so let me explain, I installed Windows 8 with AHCI set from the Bios, but after that I wanted to use ide (becose it starts faster) and when I put Ide from Bios, windows 7 loading screan camed upp and BSOD (blue screen of death) with a 0x0000005B error code, I tried the regedit setting thing in the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesMsahci' and then just pan the STARTING value 0 I have set it to 1 and it supposed to work, but it was a location, he always did the Bsod and I was so angry, I wanted to make it work... AND I DID IT!

    Here's the pases:
    (1) I assume that you have installed Windows Vista or Windows 8 with AHCI in the BIOS!
Download 2) my registry fix (to add keys to the ide to regeditor) simply apply the key
    (3) now manually part regedit go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_System_CurrentControlSet_Services_Msahci
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_System_CurrentControlSet_Services_iaStor
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_System_CurrentControlSet_Services_iaStorV

And thease three keys in the right pan, you will find a key named 'START' change all three (Msahci, iaStor, iaStorV) values from 0 to 1
    Now, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_System_CurrentControlSet_Services_PciIde
, and then change the value of start on '0 '.

    (4) now that you're allmost done, restart your laptop computer and go to Bios and set between AHCI and IDE! Save the settings in the Bios and restart

    (5) Windows will be loading and VOILA! NO BSOD! , windows Vista / seven will install new Ide drivers and that you will see in the windows Device Manager you have more AHCI drivers, you have the Ide drivers!
(6), he is invited to restart another, just restart and you will be happy

  • Win XP / 7 activation to dual boot problem...

    Here's the scene:

1 / have installed Xp and CS4 works fine... (used to have CS3 as well but there was a problem of mobo and CS3 now give an error of activation.) Too much hassle to reformat and reinstall... blah, blah, blah.)

2 / just installed Win 7 to test as a dual boot and CS4 installed option. PS and HAVE both gives me a message "The product License has expired" without any options. There is no other activations, which means no alternative on another system or your laptop, etc.

Is there a work-around, or do I have to make a completely fresh install? Which means, deactivate CS4 in th XP boot and then reinstall CS4 in th boot Win 7?

  • For Windows 8.1 and XP dual-boot

After buying a desktop PC HP Pavilion 500 - 245ea last week, I find now that I can't run a significant number of programs I use on my XP Machine, and instead of running two PC, I need to set up this new PC with Dual Boot installation.

To do this, I need to partition the hard drive and install Windows XP first before installing Windows 8.1, which is difficult with a preinstalled windows 8.1 already on the PC and no record of widows 8.1.

    Hi, Jack:

I don't know of any PC, you can get today who have the support and drivers for Windows XP.

Al I can say is that if you want a PC based on an Intel processor, you cannot get one that has a 8-series chipset.

Intel 7 series and older chipsets support drivers for XP somewhere - not necessarily have HP.

Then, you also have to make sure the graphics and audio chips drivers XP.

Try to get a PC with the Realtek HD audio chip.  Realtek has XP drivers for audio.

    Best regards

    Hi Madril,

Thanks for posting this question in the Microsoft Community.

Could you give us little answers so that we can have a better understanding of the issue?

    1. you are trying to boot Vista on Windows 7? If this is the case, I suggest that it will not work.

2 you both fill the operating system installed?

I would like to inform you that when you start in Windows Vista or Windows 7 regardless of the drive, they can be installed, Windows display readers primaries than C. Drive C is always reserved for Windows. That's why Windows it will show that the C drive.

If the dual boot works fine, you don't have to worry about what.

You can also format the hard drive, create two different partitions and then start Vista in a drive and Windows 7 in another. You can also go through the article on multiboot and check if it helps.

Hope this helps and provide us more information if you need more assistance. We will be happy to help you.

  • Windows Vista and XP dual boot

I would like to make a dual boot of Windows Vista and Windows XP Professional, but don't know where to find XP drivers for my computer.

My computer is a Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX.

    Hello

  • Windows XP cannot find NTLDR on PC Windows XP-Win7 dual-boot

I have a PC that has been working fine until yesterday.  I booted into Win7... and he locked himself more tight as a drum... has not identified ctrl-alt-del, esc or a right click on the start bar.  The only option was to make a difficult stop holding down the power button.

When I got to the top, it has not begun, but said instead he was missing NTLDR, or that he was corrupt.  I broke the Win7 DVD and used to start the PC and went in service options.  I tried the start up to fix... without success. I tried a few other options in the menu with the success.  I finally said to restore to an earlier date using a backup.  Well well... I want in the side Win7... but until now I have been always failed to him start upward on the side XP.

When I boot in Win7 (this is the C: drive, and XP becomes drive D :), I can see the XP partition on drive D: files.)  In research the D: drive, there was the No. NTLDR file on the drive.  So, I jumped into the XP Pro CD and copied the file NTLDR on D:\ i386 folder.  When I did, he said that it was already there (I have my folder options configured to display hidden system files), even if she was nowhere to be seen.  I said to replace the current one with the one I copied... and he appeared at the root of D.  NTDETECT.com was also not appearing in D:\, so I copied that from the i386 to D:\ record.  Yet once, although I couldn't find NTDETECT.com via D:\ research, when I went to copy NTDETECT.com on D:\ he asked me if I wanted to replace the existing copy.  I said yes, and NTDETECT.com then appeared at the root of D.  The boot.ini file was also missing.  I found a backup of this file in the Windows\pss folder.  Similarly, if there is no such file to D:\, when I said to copy the file to D:\ he asked me if I wanted to replace the existing copy.  I said yes.  I now have what should be the good copies of NTLDR, NTDETECT.com, and Boot.ini in the root of D.  However, I still cannot start XP... it says NTLDR is missing or corrupt.

In my online research, an article said that I should have a copy of NTLDR, NTDETECT.com, and Boot.ini on the Win7 partition so she would recognize WinXP... but even once, it does not either... I always get the error NTLDR missing/corrupted when I select Windows XP on startup.

Someone has an idea how I can fix this so I can get to my XP partition?  Oh... and another anomaly... When I use the Win7 DVD to access the 'repair' process, he sees that the Win7 operating system... it does not see the Windows XP operating system.  Is it the way it is supposed to work?  Is it only supposed to see just the OS to Win7 on its partition and don't see any other operating systems on other partitions?

Sorry to hear about your problem, but how it relates to Windows Update features?

What suite of application or security anti-virus is installed on the Win7 partition and is your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

What application or anti-virus security suite is installed on the Windows XP partition and is your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on the computer (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

  • Windows 7 and vista dual boot. to remove vista

I have windows 7 installed on C drive and windows vista on drive H (another partition on hard disk). I removed my computer windows vista by using the System Configuration application. However it has not deleted the files of vista from the hard drive. Don't we have to do it manually? If so, how? Alternatively, the application did not work correctly? Even if it's not showing vista as operating system available nor is he asked to choose for her during the priming that probably shows that the application was functioning properly. I just want to free up space on my hard drive. Please guide.

Run the disk by right-clicking on computer management, clicking on Manage > storage > disk management. The drive that is labeled as system is where the boot files are stored and it is where the initial startup starts from. If it is on the Windows 7 partition, you can delete the files of Vista or even to delete the partition.

This stop error 7 b means THAT XP needs SATA drivers during installation. Since the AHCI is enabled in the BIOS

If you don't see that before installing XP, this means that the hard drive is not accessible (because you have no drivers SATA on the XP CD). XP Setup does not see the hard drive. So, it can not install XP

(Probably) the only way you're going to get SATA in XP drivers, is if integrate you the SATA drivers with something like Nlite

Or you could turn off the AHCI in the BIOS. Only prob here tho, since Win7 is installed, we need to be activated to support SATA.

Another thing you could do is the XP installation mode, if its Win7 Pro.

And typically you are installing the first OS (XP), then later (Win7). Not the other way around

Also keep in mind XP will see 3.5 GB of ram. Since its 32 bit and only supports 3.25 to 3.5 GB of ram
