  I don't know if this is the right section, sorry for that. Feel free to move this thread in the appropriate section *.

  I think the size of partitions depends of the you want to use and install other software.
  So if you have a lot of software which runs under the Windows System I recommend to choose a larger size to win 8 partition.

  However, given that you have a 750 GB HARD drive, you could take 200GB for Win 8, 100 GB to Linux and the rest of the HARD drive size, that you can use for data.

  Your laptop of HP ENVY 17-j150ca is basically the same as my computer laptop HP ENVY 15 t-j100 CTO, only bigger. You will need to provide the Intel AHCI / RAID drivers during the first part of the installation. Please download "f6flpy-x 64.zip" of Intel Download Center. Expand this and place the file/folder on a USB key. Then;

  (1) DISABLE "Secure starting" and ACTIVATE the standby mode 'legacy' in the BIOS. Save and EXIT

  (2) enter code as it is necessary to recognise the change

  (3) reboot and press 'ESC' and then 'F9' when prompted. Select "UEFI - CD/DVD" or "UEFI - USB key... and boot from the DVD of Windows 7 SP1 or a USB key.
  4) click install now
  (5) to accept the license agreement
  (6) when the option to select an installation type, click (custom)

  (7) there will be a link called it loads drivers, insert the USB stick with the Intel AHCI / RAID drivers, select the USB and it should load the appropriate driver.

  (8) continue the installation by following all the guests... BE SURE TO SELECT THE PARTITION NOT USED FOR INSTALLATION

  You say that the files will drive c but, check this out. When you start in Windows 7 it is listed as being installed on the 'C' drive and Windows Xp is on drive "D". If you start Xp a list as being installed on the 'C' drive and show Win 7 on drive "D". By default, Windows installs the reader 'C' no matter what you previously selected to be drive letter. In other words, Windows will identify the hard drive that you have chosen to settle in the 'C' drive Hope that makes sense.

  Not longer than the partitioning of the HARD drive and install XP - actually quite a bit more fast I should think and gives you the ability to move from one OS to the other without having to reboot the machine. • Win XP / 7 activation to dual boot problem...

  Here's the scene:

  1 / have installed Xp and CS4 works fine... (used to have CS3 as well but there was a problem of mobo and CS3 now give an error of activation.) Too much hassle to reformat and reinstall... blah, blah, blah.)

  2 / just installed Win 7 to test as a dual boot and CS4 installed option. PS and HAVE both gives me a message "The product License has expired" without any options. There is no other activations, which means no alternative on another system or your laptop, etc.

  Is there a work-around, or do I have to make a completely fresh install? Which means, deactivate CS4 in th XP boot and then reinstall CS4 in th boot Win 7?
