  • Envy 15z-J100: failures recurrent speaker

My problem and the fix looks like this: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Envy-15-3040nr-Sound-Stopped-working/td-p/2673061

I've been systematically uninstalled, place, reset, reboot on average 3 times a week since May. And I became very effective home by the practice, but not effective enough for that to be a satisfactory solution. The issue has become much too disruptive, and I need a more permanent solution.

The problem is that the speakers will fail completely, although headphones with MIC still works. It is generally during the execution of applications that play many voice samples, although extended playing music with lyrics or movies with the dialog box are not always the cause of the problem. These failures of speaker accompany abnormal overheating and more to the left of the Board, go round around the power button and the spread in all directions, especially under the laptop through the keyboard. It is probably close to the graphics card and processor, but the GPU use seems to have minor bearing on instances of failure.

Cooling of the air around the laptop delays but does not prevent the failure of the speaker, and as you can imagine, it became a hack expensive during the summer. I cleaned the vents with compressed air and therefore the restriction of air flow electronic cleaners would not exacerbate the problem.

All the drivers are all up to date, but another audio driver would solve this, or perhaps remove Beats Audio installation?

    Hi @enkephalin07,

You were technically brilliant. It has been a privilege to have worked with a person of this caliber and technical skill levels. I tried everything I could think off to correct the situation. In addition, the problem occurs intermittently and you need to go through the boring of hard reset process and the rest of what you describe in your first post is in and functional. You need to do periodically which means that there is more to what meets the eye, and with a material question could perhaps be corrected.

As a last resort, I actually spoke please contact the HP support by phone to get the computer repaired for questions that you currently have with it. Please try to do it at your convenience. I really hope that things work out great for you and the machine remains healthy for a long time to come once you have repair.

To simply say thank you, please click the ' Thumbs Up ' . If you need more assistance let me know and I will gladly do whatever I can to help.  You take care now and have a nice day ahead.

  • Pavilion 6610f desktop: HP Envy & WARNING: drive hard Imminent failure (please backup and replace immediately!)

Recently, I had 2 different cats with HP Tech Reps in which they used their remote control programs to check on the problems that I had with my new HP Envy 5560 all-in-one.  The next day, at the start of my desktop PC, I got the warning message: "" imminent hard drive failure: if it please take a full backup and replace immediately. "" I did a scan from HP and it showed nothing wrong. There are no pop icons - up or whatever it is on my desktop screen to indicate a problem.  The hard Seagate I have is only 1 years and 89% free space left on it and there is no problem, other than being slow sometimes, before the cats remote and the PC warning.  I came to the forum looking for answers, and the first thing I noticed was a post to say today 09/04/2015 Bent Canuck: "HP Envy Hard Drive Failure" at 06:22. What a coincidence. Think are?  Only some 20 hours from the time I myself first 'hard drive Imminent failure warning' and only about 40 hours after the remote programs have been downloaded (twice) and the rep tech, taking control of my computer (twice).

I ran all the diagnostics that my intermediate PC experience tells me to do.  I checked in the BIOS and I checked all the HP, troubleshooting, etc. on the Assistant HP program performance. I can find no reason for the hard drive to be failing.  I didn't notice it do anything else to be a little slow to start sometimes and slow to load stuff onto the internet, I have assumed it was probably malware and spyware that I must find a way to remove at one point, but I have received no warning about things either.  I get the same caveat and I did a full back, but...

Can someone tell me what to do or how to check and see what the problem is until I have to just chuck the drive because of this warning?

Thank you for the additional information.

Did you run the BIOS CHIP to test your hard drive?  Also, I don't think that the added hard disk HP software had nothing to do with the message you receive.

  • Envy 14 - hard drive failure imminent

I have an Envy 14-1110NR laptop and receive a message of imminent hard drive failure, whenever I start.  After you run the HP diagnostics, checking the hard drive breaks down so I think I need to replace it.

The hard drive is a Samsung HM640JJ which is obsolete.  Anyone know what I need to do...?

    Thank you very much...

    Hello Stephen,

In this case, may be your best option to create an Image of your existing installation system and store it on a HARD drive external - that can then be loaded on the new drive and your machine will be in the exact same condition as it was when the image was created.

There is a good guide on creating it on the following link - start to the subtopic 'An Option'.

    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/8956-system-image-create-Windows-8-a.html

At the end of the process, be sure to create the 'system repair disc'.

When the drive has been replaced, you can then boot from the repair disk and reload this Image to the new drive - the procedure is detailed in the guide on the following link.

  • HP Envy 5532: Scan failure HP Envy 5532

    Hello.

I'm having a lot of trouble with my scanner. First I tried to scan to my computer, but it wouldn't connect. I was then able to get the scan to email works, however not it keeps saying failed scan. I'm not sure what to do?

    Hi @CRR123,

Welcome to the HP Support forums.

I understand that what you see a scan failure error trying to analyze with your HP ENVY 5532 e-all-in-one printer to your Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. I want to help you with that.

Failure of scan — messages, on the printer or the PC monitor usually indicate a problem with the printer hardware.

Sometimes scans fail because not enough power is starting the printer and the scanner bulb is not able to become fully enlightened. When it comes to scanning, it can certainly help to plug the printer directly into a wall and try to avoid using limiters power surge or power bars.

Here is a document, you can use to troubleshoot the failure of scan - A 'Scanner failure' Message displays on the all-in-one control panel and you can not scan, copy or fax.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

In fact, if it helps you to find a solution, please click on the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

    Thank you!

    Envy 15 t-3000

Failure of Touchpad: touchpad is no longer operational; turned off/turned on light TP (and tap for her area) does not work; the TP does not appear in the device under "mice and other pointing devices" Manager as it used to. I ran the latest drivers (sp56909) TP unanswered resulting. I can't find any help through the HP Support Assistant

When running it I noticed that if I click on view devices in Device Manager, Synaptics PS/2 port Clickpad appears with a yellow exclamation mark on it.

So I deleted the drivers and the DevMgr.Then device, I ran the Setup again SP56909 driver. The installer showed complete, but now, the TP does not show even in hidden mode. I tried to install the driver of SP56909 once again: no difference.

  • Pilot failure Realtek NIC on HP Envy

I have a HP Envy with Windows 7 (OS Original) and Ubuntu Linux installed in dual boot.  One day I found my computer in safe mode Windows with a message saying that my "new drivers were willing to ask" or something to that effect.  When it restarts in Windows, all network connectivity is down.  I scanned the Windows Partition for viruses and found nothing.  Networking still works under Linux.  I downloaded and reinstalled all the Drivers under "Network" from the HP Web site for my machine.  The other symptom is that of the bluetooth drivers will also not reinstall.

    I tried:

    1. Reinstall the drivers from the Device Manager. For devices and protocols that are down, I get a "file not found error.»  There are files in the directories relavent, but I don't know which files the error codes are referring to.
    2. Reinstall the drivers of HP tools.
    3. Download and install the drivers from the HP website.  When I try to install the driver "Realtek Local Area Network (Lan)" I get an error "Access denied" when the Installer starts trying to write files.  Yes, I use the installer as admin.

It is a real pain to try to fix it, because I have to reboot in linux, whenever I need the network and all of the base network update and diagnostic tools are useless.  Thanks in advance for any help.

That sounds as if it was a failure of induced update. I highly recommend that you do not install updates just because a popup or a message tells you.

If you "found in Windows safe mode," did you survey (in the Device Manager and Event Viewer) to see what it had caused before restarting?

I suggest that perform you a recovery of image factory and then set up your boot double once again in Windows, it works as before. I hope you save your data to the outside.

What do you use for malware, antivirus and firewall protection?

  • Catastrophic failure in Envy HP dv7 7300

Although I received a response from HP on an old hard drive on an HP Envy dv7 failure of two months 7300, they once more are unwilling to provide what they call "Award Winning Service".  When HP contacted me about the matter, they said that they were ready to replace the hard drive but could provide home service I paid for.

I talked to a man by the name of... .to HP this afternoon regarding the failure of this computer after only 2 months.  It is the 3rd computer HP replacement in less than 9 months, he demanded that I return the hard drive failing to HP with reception in the tech support person who must go out and replace the "C" drive   (He eventually found that I had indeed paid for in home service although he can't provide it within the time promised in my initial contract).

When I told her I didn't have a problem with this as long as I have the opportunity to erase the hard drive of all my personal data, he asked my credit card number.  I told him many things.  1. I agree to replace hard drive but want the erased data.  2. I want the technician to make sure that the second hard drive has not failed as well because the system is now down the second failed drive, and 3.  If there is another failure of any component on this computer in the next few months, then I want insurance that HP will replace the laptop with a desktop computer with the same features better and that it is a touch screen.

He was not willing to have me erase the hard drive being replaced.  Should no for an answer when it came to give him my card by phone number and he did not have the technology to check the second drive on this computer.  I ran a check of the system and found that both hard drives are a failure and that the keyboard is also marked as failed.  The test system was done using HP on the software.

Personally, I think that with hard drives and the keyboard are marked as 'failure' that there is another catastrophic failure on this model of computer.  I'm sure that the next thing to fail will be the motherboard.  And why they do not check the food as well as all other components on this computer.

If you read his email to me below response, you will see that he says that HP has «wins service award»   Really?  I do not trust this person like HP it shows very clearly that they do not ask for information of credit card by phone, nor should provide you if you don't really know who is calling you.  And where they get off asking for a credit card number when it is their problem not mine!

I am still extremely upset by the way that this whole situation is handled.  I think that technology checking the second hard drive to a potential failure is what premium service is all about!  I enclose a copy of the e-mail sent to me today.

    HP customer service

Really, I need to provide documents about the fact that I have the right computer.  When I talked to the representative of another, it went up to say again, I had to return the 2nd replacement computer and that failures are my fault.  When I told him that he must inspect its records again about the return of the 2nd replacement computer, at last, he replied that he indeed find information, but would not apologize for calling me a liar!

If it is that HP has to offer to their customers that pay hard-earned money for a product that is supposed to be good and make millions of dollars for the management of the business... so I won't be bound to that name more.

Wouldn't be nice if I could go on your HP Forum and tell people that HP has done everything in their power to make things right for me as a customer of HP.  Isn't the type of your business deserves positive coverage?  HP used to have the best name in the computer industry and now you have failed miserably in my mind.

I and ask once more, getting in this area get kicked up a notch to someone who is really ready to listen and do things right once and for all!  Is it so difficult for HP to understand that all I want is a reliable, work computer?

I last detail... when I told him the frustration of reloading all my software and then having to contact all suppliers for a new license or registration key and have to explain for the 4th time that the computer failed and this is why I plead for a new key, I asked him if he would accept HP as a good faith effort, to offer to send me the new Microsoft Home and Office 2013, he said it might be possible but when it recalled, he said, HP could not offer the product of the most recent because of the cost of the program.

What the cost of the loss of time and data because of all the failures of this product on my part?  HP cannot afford to pay for the program from MIcrosoft?

Maybe it's time for me to all the money lost because of the continuous 'Award Winning Service' add up.

I have forwarded your message to the right people for their review. You should hear from someone bit via private Message on this forum.

  • HP Envy 15 j140na: suspected of sound card - no way to diagnose failure?

I suspect a sound card that has failed on my HP Envy 15, I'm getting no audio through speakers or headphones. 10 Windows and Ubuntu, I have no sound card/no audio device detected. Is it possible to run hardware diagnostics on my laptop to confirm that it is a hardware problem, or is it a software problem?

It is soldered to the motherboard, so if the connection is doubtful it will mean a new motherboard for sound. You can use a usb sound card dongle and headset is the only solution.

  • HP Envy x 360 (M1V68UA): USB Ports all failed - resembled HW failure, but resolved by reinstalling a driver

This post is an explanation of the complete absence of the laptop (2.0 & 3.0) USB ports and the later hotfix.

Suspecting a hardware failure, I ran the Diagnostics UEFI and received confirmation of a default by a character 27 failure code.  This type of information is supposed to be useful to someone, but I couldn't find any documentation on this failure on the Web code and technician HP customer care has never offered an explanation.  The ID of the failure, I received was:

    0GF87X-7NW88A-GXGJMF-8D3Q03

I made arrangements to ship the laptop to HP repair, but while waiting to receive their shipping box, I continued to research.  I happened to run System Mechanic from iolo and noticed a tool "Toolbox |" Recover | Troubleshooting of the system"that took me as a result of convenience store window 10.  I ran the hardware and devices troubleshooter, and confirmed a problem with the USB ports.  But, surprisingly, the fix was to install the latest driver for the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible host controller (USBXHCI. (SYS).

Once the driver has been reinstalled, the USB port problem has been resolved.  He worked for 3 days and I was able to back up my laptop on an external hard drive into a USB port, as I usually do.

So if you see a problem with your USB ports, which can resemble a hardware failure, it is better running of the utility window hardware & peripheral troubleshooting.  It can save you an unnecessary repair work.

    Best regards, Mike

    Welcome to the HP Forums

I would like to take a moment and thank you for the use of this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
You have the best experience on the HP forum, you can also visit our Guide of Forums from HP for the first time here? Learn how to post and much more.

As I understand it you had conducted a test of material using the UEFI diagnostic tool and received a failure ID, however, you install the latest driver and solved the problem.

I'm glad that worked for you, even if you keep the only common, the ID of the failure you captured represents a "Communication error" device on devices such as GPS, switch and/or USB, HUB, Modem, network card, network drive, PCI, PCMCIA card.

Install the most recent driver is one of the first steps to solve the communication error, however, if the problem is intermittent because it sometimes a repair would be the best way to go.

  • HP ENVY 14-2160se hard drive failure

There is an "error reading drive" when I start and it does not start in windows at all. I did a hard drive test in BIOS and the short DST failed and the failure id is GTU23F-5QF788-XD6V5F-60UR0 for 1 hard drive. I know there is an SSD of 80 and 750 HD but that one failed?

If the ssd has failed can I use the 750 GB HD or does take both?

If I need to replace the SSD I can replace it with a regular HD (on a budget) and which drive size do I need? 2.5?

If in warranty, you can get a guarantee of replacement free of charge for you.

The failure code is for the old hard drive, not the SSD. SSD failure is not common.

You can replace the hard drive with a drive hard laptop SATA (2.5 ") is the same size and up to 1.5 terabytes.

  • HP Envy 17 "touchscreen: BIOS update failure

Today I went to the page for my desire to get updated for network drivers.  While there, I saw an update of the bios date 03/08/16 (today) and went ahead and installed it.  He said in a box she had to restart my laptop and that was the last time that my cell phone worked.  I now have a black screen and the cap lock key blinks twice, then paused and then flashes twice.  Over and over again.

  • Dv7 HP ENVY notebook: HP ENVY dv7 laptop disk hard failure and no access to the technical officer of HP

    Greetings,

I am in a bind and need help to repair disk hard "do-it-yourself". My fault ID: 9C353G-GLV870-QFPJWJ-60E703

I am no longer under warranty and have no funds currently to be considered in a service center (if it is still available for my location).

Can we please: 1. tell me what means this failure code? and 2.  Is this something I could fix me?

Very unhappy that it was not used much yet failed prematurely! Computers these days come with kill switches after a certain period of time after the purchase?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might help.

    Wes

    The model is dv7 - 7333cl.

He made a place for 2 hard drives, but the specifications say that it came with 1.

This video shows adding a second hard drive, but you can easily view it how remove you and replace the original hard drive that is located on the right in the video:

No doubt, you can recover most or all of the data on the old hard drive with a USB to SATA adapter.

Windows 10 can be reinstalled on a new drive hard if your installation has been activated before. The activation servers Microsoft just know your computer and will be reactive. You must Access the media creation tool and have it make a bootable DVD player or you need a usb thumb drive at least 4 GB.

After the back if you want to discuss before, or perhaps find an SSD.

  • HP ENVY 700-305no desktop PC: Bios update failure.

    Long story short (a little).

I got a virus, is a virus really means, crypt all my files, prevents the opening of antivirus programs and redirects the downloads.

virus survives 3 reset factory, 3 hard drive formats, and a reinstall of Windows.

This leads me to believe that he himself got into the Bios of my computer.

so I downloaded the latest bios for my system, in this case

Update the BIOS HP consumer desktop PC (SSID family ROM 2AF3)

through the Setup program on another computer, I installed the update to the bios of my USB,

inserted in my main pc, held down the Windows and key B, while starting my computer.

This led beeps and my computer Wrooms, 10 minutes later, nothing happened.

I decided to start the installer directly from inside infected computer, but this resulted in a failure too.

say that the downloaded bios is not compatible.

What I'm asking is how I should go about the removal of the old bios (possibly) infected and reinstall it again.

I'm not aware of a way to Flash the BIOS in Ubuntu, but it might be possible if there is a wine app in the version you have.  I have not experienced or read where someone else tried it either.  You could ask for more in the Ubuntu forums.  Don't know if it is possible to WIN PE 3.0 either.
