HP Envy h8 - 1417c i7-3770 3.40: computer upgrade HP Envy

Hi guys,.

I have a HP Envy h8 - 1417c i7-3770 3,40 GHz standard. I want to get a new power SUPPLY and graphics card because I'm a great player.  I don't play HEAVY on my computer so I need around one of the best graphics card out there. And I think, what are the main components lack in this computer. I thought the graphics card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 4 GB and it's pretty cheap for a good graphics card. The PSU, I thought I'd do is EVGA SuperNOVA GS 650 Watt 80 + gold.

I was wondering a few things:

1 is. my computer compatible with these two parties (such as in the motherboard and whatnot)?

2 can he is physically FIT to? (I read somewhere that it should be of a certain length. Not sure about that.)

3. How do the updates myself? (Youtube videos, videos or photos)

4. If the parties do not in my computer or are not compatible, can you suggest another card psu and graphics that is up to the standards of nvidia 970 or better?

Thank you guys! No knowledge can help.

Lets put it this way. I have a 4 GB EVGA GTX 960 FTW edition card. I can run The Witcher 3 on all the settings high, HBAO + and Ultra textures to 1080 p 60 fps. I disabled some post processing effects I don't want or don't need.

I really believe that the 970 and 980 is exaggerated full 1080 p. IMO. NVIDIA Pascal is also coming next year, which suppose to destroy the cards that came out. Literally no contest. So, why spend a lot of money now? Here is what mine looks like.

You can get an idea of what it may look like your. But, be careful. Some 960's requires a pcie power connector 8 pins like mine. You have only one 6 pin so stay with these cards. Or you need a new power supply.

Your wireless card is currently not 2 antennas connected to it?

It should be. I don't think that HP had begun the practice of using only a single antenna for single band wireless cards in this series of models.

Take a look now before ordering a replacement card, as running a second antenna would require a complete disassembly of the laptop including the area on display at the antenna of the road a 2nd.

If your laptop's wireless card has two antennas already attached, all you need to do is to uninstall the drivers in the devices and current wireless network card Manager, stop the PC and swap on the map.

I want to download drivers AC 7260 first, if you are ready to install after you connect your new card.

I also suggest you get the card with number HP on this subject.  You can find other suppliers and more HP for less money.

  • HP Pavilion 500-319NA: new to < see below > graphics card

    Hello

I am new to the computer upgrades and know almost nothing about it, so please keep any simpler answer and understanding as possible.

My computer is the "HP Pavilion 500-319na".

It contains the graphics card "NVIDIA GeForce 705" (I think it's a 1 GB model)

There's a game coming out next year called Overwatch, this graphics card is unable to play the game, so I decided that I want to upgrade this Christmas.

The graphics card, I have drawn attention is the "ASUS 2 GB GeForce GTX 750 Ti.

    I have mainly two questions:

    • Is my computer compatible with this graphics card?
    • the Geforce 705 dosent require any kind of power, but one that I want (the GTX 750 it) seems to require a power adapter 6 pin or something.

If anyone could help with any of these things it would be wonderful.

    Thank you, Callie

You'll be glad you asked, you need to clarify some issues.

This is your computer.  There really a 180W external PSU?  Or is the power supply inside the box?  There were some variations in generation of HP model #.   If internal, envy is the coast?

Your computer has a 2.9 Ghz CPU... but Overwatch requires a 3.3 - 3, 46 Ghz CPU. That will slow down the game.

GTX660 (140W) is far superior to the GTX750Ti (60W), but power is a problem. AQgain, need you a new power supply, but it's an internal model.  See above question. !!!

You also have a problem of compatibility of the UEFI BIOS.  The GTX750Ti is OK, but the GTX 660 requires BIOS settings inherited.

  • 8.1 Windows Pro update the problem (from Windows 8 Pro) on Envy 23 TouchSmart all-in-One...

    Hello

I have a HP Envy 23 Touchsmart all-in-one that I bought a year ago (12/2012). It comes preinstalled with Windows 8.

    System information:

    (a) Intel (r) Core i7 - 3770 S CPU @ 3.10 GHz

    (b) 8192 MB of RAM

A few weeks after that I had bought the system, I've upgraded to Windows 8 Pro with Media Center that I bought through Microsoft upgrade program.

Last week (19/10/2013), I saw the option upgrade to Windows 8. 1 in the store and decided to upgrade.

After a few minutes, I got a prompt asking me to restart the computer, and I did.

However, I noticed that the screen has turned white, but it restarts not really - I have seen that the hard drive light was still flashing and I waited for about 15 minutes. I know it does not restart because if that were the case I would have seen the HP logo on the screen of the BIOS. A little later, the system entered into mode 'sleep' (at least the light blinked slowly as if it was the sleep). As it was late at night, I decided to leave the system alone and decided to check on it the next morning. The next morning, he was still in mode 'sleep' (as I feared) - when I tried to wake up from her sleep by moving the mouse/hit the return key, he did the exact sounds as if he were to wake up from its sleep (as it always does), but the screen is still blank. The light power button lit up constantly indicating he's awake now.

At this point, I decided to turn off the system by holding the button for a few seconds. To restart, I saw the HP logo on the BIOS boot screen and the screen went white and nothing came.

So I decided do a system recovery using my Windows 8 recovery CD and turn off the system with the CD in its niche. This time, the system came and began immediately to restore my OS to a previous version.

After connecting to the system recovered, I received the following message:

"Could not update for Windows 8.1.

Sorry, we could not complete the update Windows 8.1. We have restored the previous version of Windows on this computer.

    0xC1900101 - 0 x 40019.

I tried to reinstall Windows 8.1 a couple of times after that. Once to disable all non-Microsoft services and disabling all startup programs. Always the same result.

I have no antivirus software on my other system protection of Microsoft default system software.

    Any help, greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

I have disabled active secure boot existing starter and the update worked.  Now we get the error of watermark "secure boot not configured correctly.  But I have re-enabled secure boot and the error disappeared.

  • Windows 8 or 8.1 update? HP ENVY TouchSmart all-in - One desktop PC 23-d260qd

I just bought the HP ENVY TouchSmart all-in-One desktop PC 23-d260qd and it happens today. I wonder if it is better to upgrade to Windows 8.1 instead of windows 8. It seems that several people had problems with the upgrade. I just got my computer today and have yet to open the box, but I wanted to know what OS is better and how I would go about updating Windows 8.1 must be optimal. My computer specs are below:

    • 64-bit Windows 8
    • • 3rd generation Intel® Core™ i7 - 3770S processor [3.1 GHz, 8 MB of shared cache]
    • • 1 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT610M [DX 11, 3. 0a MXM]
    • • 12GB DDR3 1600 MHz SODIMM [DIMM 2]
    • • 2 TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive
    • • Microsoft Office Trial

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help!

Create a recovery disk set before even considering the upgrade.

If you are not yet accustomed to Windows 8, then give yourself a little time to get familiar with before committing to an upgrade to Windows 8.1.

I prefer the upgrade of Windows 8.1, in particular the return of the Start button, it is not the same as the Start button was before Windows 8.

Important factors for Windows 8.1 are available on the web support download portal for your PC.

    Hello

Use a good adjustment of the power supply replacement.  Standard power SUPPLY HP block dimensions are 5.5 "by 3.4"by 5.9".  Something more will compress the distance between the power supply and the optical drive even more complicated wiring and installation problems.  A 750 watt PSU should work but get one with the appropriate dimensions.  If you drop to the low power of some, the Corsair CS650m would be a very good choice.

If your computer is running a version of HP 8 BIOS the largest part of the most recent graphics card will work providing that they will hold.  Study it posted article.  You need to open your PC and measurement. Generally of less than 10.5 graphics cards "must adapt.

The motherboard is the same as indicated, BUT the jumper CMOS block illustrated on the Web page must be another block I watched card mother pictures of this model from EBay and they show the jumper in the position that you indicated.  There are two blocks.  There are two blocks of blue jumpers with the configuration pins as shown in the picture I posted.  I think that what the picture posted is saying leave the jumper on the right side block is and only move the jumper on the left side of the position shown, then again.  Just to clarify, there is a block under this block, we want, and who says "ROM_RECOVERY" and this block has a single rider together 1-2.  Jumper block we are debating is actually marked "CMOS-PW.

Hope that helps clear things upward.

  • Desktop HP Envy h8 - 1420t CTO: problem Samsung SSD causing with upgrading 8.0 to 8.1 Windows

I can't upgrade my OEM installed Windows 8.0 to 8.1 HP desktop computer.  First, I tried the upgrade when 8.1 was deployed for the first.  It seemed to level OK, but after a reboot I found myself with a black screen... no error message, just a black screen.

I retried it this morning, but this time it failed with DPC_Watchdog_Exception, then Machine_Check_Exception.  After looking in several forums, I'm "guess" it is maybe disk 0, which is a Samsung 830 Series SSD (model: MZ7PC256 / 0:1, s/n: S0U3NSAC705912 p/n: MZ7PC256HAFU - 000: 1) which has been installed and configured by HP, when I ordered this computer from office in 2012.

Magician of Samsung software does not recognize this SDS supported a product, but they identify it as a Samsung MZ7PC256HAFU - 000: 1, with Firmware version CXM05H1Q.  I thought I'd see if a firmware update is available, but there is no information about this SSD on the Samsung support site. In addition, HP doesn't offer not just any which firmware for this SSD, not even the original firmware.  What I saw on the internet says that it is a custom SSD OEM which is not taken in charge by Samsung.

I'm not desperate to upgrade to Win8.1, but I would like to know exactly why the canned upgrade fails.  I have an other available SSD (a Samsung 850 Pro, model: MZ-7KE256BW) that I considered to use to replace the current drive 0, but I hate swapping parts without knowing that this is really the problem.

I am open to advice. The info on my current system follows. Furthermore, I note that there is no conflict of devices or outdate drivers.

    Hello

Don't forget that the W8 is fully updated before upgrading to W8.1. I would suggest to run for a while after the W8.1 update and see if your PC is stable.  If so, then manually a system restore point and then continue the Windows Update process. If your PC is stable after that Windows updates have been applied then manually take another system restore point and proceed to apply the HP recommended software updates for the W8.1 that are posted for your PC.

  • Dumping Windows 8 installation of Windows 7 need help with drivers desktop HP ENVY

During the holidays, we bought a HP ENVY with Windows 8 is installed, model H8 - 1417C.  This machine has a processor intel I7 3rd generation processor a graphics card from nvidia Geforce GT 630 with 2 GB of memory preinstalled audio beats and 12 GB of RAM as well as a 2 TB HDD.  Sounds like a great machine however several programs I use are not windows 8 compatible over all work via citrx will not load windows 8 anytime in the forseable future.  I therefore decided to remove the original hard disk and replace it with another 2 TB drive and install Windows 7, already purchased.  Today was the day of the change more however when I started hunting for the drivers I came across problems.  HP web site uses drivers for download only in Windows 8.  Its been a while since I've worked inside a machine and Windows 8 only adds to the problems.  But I am sure that if I can find the drivers that I can do the job, that is why I bought the Tablet instead of custom build in order to avoid all this. THANKS in advance for any help.
