  Based on the following guide, here are the upgrade Module memory information for your laptop: HP ENVY 17 - Maintenance and Service of Guide (Chapter 1, Page 2).

  2 customer accessible/upgradable memory module slots

  Supported dual channel DDR3-1333 MHz and DDR3-1600 MHz

  Supports up to 16384-GB of RAM @ 1333 MHz, supports up to 8192 GB RAM @ 1600 MHz

  Supports the following configurations:

  ● 16384 MB total system memory (8192 × 2 @ 1600 and 1333 MHz)

  12288 MB ● total system memory (8192 × 4096 + 1 × 1 @ 1600 and 1333 MHz)

  ● 8192 MB total system memory (8192 × 1 @ 1600 and 1333 MHz, or 4096 × 2 @ 1600 and 1333 MHz)

  System memory total 6144 ● MB (4096 × 1 + 2 048 × 1 @ 1600 MHz)

  ● total 4096 MB system memory (4096 × 1 @ 1333 MHz, and 1600 or 2048 × 2 @ 1600 MHz)

  Thus, it seems that your laptop can support 16 GB.  I hope this helps.

  As a general rule, long term, its not recommended to mix different frequencies & CASE, RAM together.

  But if you ask if they work together at all, they will all be two race to lower speed - no problem whatsoever in this area.

  Fortunately, your system manual lists the frequencies 1600 times & 1333 & if you put two Rams they will work in single channel type - no dual channel supports listed in the guide.  Here is your Manual (Page 1).

  The performance issue that could have landed because they are different, it's that they are running in single channel which is slower mode. But your system do not already support channel.

  So all of your ram is now 1333 but it will work very well in single channel mode.

  Download CPU - Z to see what makes your ram and ram it is. The part listed for 4 GB of RAM is in your manual.

  Hello.  I have a HP Envy Dv4-5260nr laptop. I recently did a clean install of windows 8 after attempting to do a clean install of windows 7, I have quickly restored, because it does not work well on this computer. Drivers are limited to support of windows 7 for this laptop. Anyway when I got to windows 8 I noticed that my ram was different. With the pre installed windows 8 I bought my pc with, he had 6 gigabytes of ram. Now, Windows is only showing me 2. I did a memory test and it passed. I spend the cards around and nothing has changed. The answer I seem to get across elsewhere is "hold the windows startup key and press x go to run and type msconfig.» Click the Startup tab and then click Advanced Options. There a maximum memory with an entered setting checked? If so, uncheck then apply and exit the msconfig. If you are prompted to restart your computer, do, if not, restart it yourself. It should be good now. "I tried and it failed. I knew it wasn't the question well because it does not have 2 gigabytes usable 6 gigabytes. It says 1.9 gigabytes usable 2 gigabytes. What is the problem and I it's not solvable through the OS, then someone could please tell me it is very probably the ram slots or actual cards?

  Please check Msconfig to make sure that you have unchecked max ram.

  Win key + 'X' > run > msconfig > Startup tab > advanced options

• Studio XPS 8100 - (Best Buy Version) bought end of 2010 4 GB DDR3 Ram problems 1333Ghz

  I bought a Studio XPS 8100 in late 2010 at a Best Buy store. It came with 4 cylinders of 2GB 1066Ghz (each cylinder), adding up to a total of 8GB spread on 4Slots, all of a sudden one of the slot (Slot 2 to be precise) Ram began to fail, so computer would beep to reveal no ram or sometimes ram write failure etc. So, to avoid problems with this slot (Slot 2), I got rid of all four locations of 2 GB and wanted to replace them with the following ram: "(Kingston HyperX FURY 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 CL9 DIMM quantité = 2 d'ajouter jusqu'à 8Go en Kit) ', but my computer is beeping not revealing no ram detected." Now, according to the Studio XPS manual, the configuration can be either Ghz 1066 or 1333 Ghz as long ram DDR3 of Ram.

  I would like to know why my new 8 GB kit (2x4gb 1333 Ghz) does not work with my computer Studio XPS 8100? RAM is correctly inserted on the slot 1 and 3 (I even tried different slot combinations).

  It would be a great help if you guys can let me know what DDR3 1333 Ghz Ram is compatible with my Studio XPS 8100.

  I contact Kingston technical support and get their help.

  I think the chipset on the studio XPS 8100 is H57.

  H57 is not listed as a compatible chipset on the webpage the HyperX fury.

  Kingston has maybe a different kit that will work and they can exchange.

• iMac 27 2010 graphics card / ram problem

  Hello - read through the form and try to isolate the problem.  A week ago my end 2010 iMac 27 I7, 12 GB of Crucial Ram, OSX Yosemite went screwy - icons went fuzzy, and the system has just stopped responding. I tried not just pull the plug, but the computer was out of order, so I had to pull the plug. Please keep in mind it was a day hot here in New York and I've come for a quick moment to remove some files and did not close the windows a turn on the AC, so they probably overheated system or so I guess

  Anyway, after a few hours and I came back home and turned back on the iMac. Immediately, I noticed some pale red bans on the screen. The system has been restarted slowly and then it stop at halfway however and just go to the gray screen. I did a reboot, re-installed the operating system made the system check, but the failure of operating system to kick when I do a normal restart, and I am only able to operate the computer in Mode safe.

  Is there a way I can understand if the RAM is the question, the graphics card, or if it's the OS? A faulty graphics card will prevent the system from starting normally? I have the same question when I open it on safe mode?

  I'm trying to see if there is a way to save the iMac and get more use out of it, but at the same time a few years if it's gong to fix an expensive that I can't do on my own, so maybe its not worth what's now 5-6yrld of fixing iMac little matter how the computer cost me back in 2010.

  Note:

  One way to test is to boot from the HD, (now shift key at startup), run utility disk in Applications > utilities, then highlight your reader, click on repair permissions, test for problem in Mode safe...

  As far as I know the mouse and keyboard drivers are the drivers Microsoft and Toshiba doesn't offer drivers for these devices except the driver for the touchpad to improve the touchpad options. I don t think that Toshiba is testing the feature with different games.

  Confused, it's that you have noticed the same problem using the external keyboard and mouse.
  Is there a possibility to test it with some older games?

• Mac Mini Ram problem

  I just replaced the hard drive in my Mini 2011 Mid and during reassembly of the Mini and reinstall the RAM modules, the top was hard to seat. When I got the upper module in it makes a sort of "Bully" of noise (metal grid sound). At the start, I had the three beep to tell there is a problem of RAM card. I took the modules and re-sitting them, top of page gross sounding again. Same three beeps.

  I then took the upper module and has attempted to restart the machine - it booted up OK.

  What happened here? I destroyed the motherboard? Is this a known issue? Any thoughts appreciated.

  Inspect the contacts on the memory that went into the top slot. Inspect the top slot anomalies such as curved plastic and bent or corroded contacts.

  Other users have damaged locations when replacing memory. Can be caused by does not receive the baton in properly and forcing, debris got into the slot or on the key and he was forced in.

  I think that now the slot is damaged. and yo either have to replace the logic board or only a slot to use.

  I suspect that your RAM is shared with your graphics (usually 64 MB) so even if you actually 256 MB RAM, 64 MB is pré-alloué graphics use 192 MB. Your computer AOL chack reports available rather than the actual RAM RAM

  After my last thread, I could somehow isolate the problem further.

  My Satellite 5200 701 boots Win XP correctly, but when it is lifted upward or to the smallest shake the screen freezes or displays the Win screen in strange colors. When I hit carefully on its underside after you have started successfully, it crashes immediately when I touch the part of the cover of RAM.

  So, I guess it has something to do with the RAM. However, both RAM blocks have been verified by Toshiba, as well as the HARD drive.

  Does anyone have a solution?

  Hi Moritz,

  According to your description of the problem, it is most likely something made intermittent contact where your RAM modules are connected. Try to remove and then reposition modules RAM themselves (by taking the necessary precautions of antistatic property course) to see if that helps. Make sure that the RAM modules are in place and properly locked in place.

  You can also try exchanging the RAM autour modules so that they are in the bays of spare.

  If your problem persists, then it is likely that there is a bad connection between takes of the RAM and the motherboard connections.

  Hi tardis, regarding the upgrade. The problem is that I can't by the Recovery Manager window that says "inconplete restoration", I tried Jo turned it off the laptop, but it still run recovery and it will always end up with the same window. Meaning, I can't go through my main desktop to search and open for windows update. Is there another way? I'm stuck with this box of the Recovery Manager window.

  Hello I have a laptop HP Envy M6 with 8 64-bit Windows, reccently I've updated to Windows 8.1 as it would make no sense. However, after the update has been completed and the system restarted, I noticed that no audio not playing. Also the volume keys no longer function and under the spell of settings, the volume has now said disabled, unable to be clicked. Or the speakers or headphones more playing audio. • Pavilion P7 - 1003w Win 7 sp1 - RAM problems...

  I have a Pavilion P7-1003w running Windows 7 sp1.  I have 2 strips of 4 GB of RAM installed, which should show that 8 GB under Windows Properties.  Instead it shows 16 GB (7.75 exploitable).  I tried to remove 1 stick and leaving 1 installed, the results show 12 (3.75 usable) GB.  I tried each stick individually in each of the 2 available DIMM slots and each time I get the same results.

  Why is this, and can it be fixed?  Or maybe it's bad advice?  Any suggestions are appreciated.

  Try to clear the CMOSin case that the BIOS is damaged.

  Open the window RUN (admin) and enter: sfc/scannow
