HP ENVY23: PROBLEM WITH A WIRELESS ADAPTER

Hello

I BOUGHT THIS REFURBISHED DESKTOP PC. ITS BEEN WORKING REALLY WELL FOR PAST 1 YEAR, BUT SUDDENLY, NOW HE BEGAN TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH A WIRELESS ADAPTER THAT IS RALINK ADAPTER. PROBLEM IS THAT ADAPTER WILL SUDDENLY STOP WORKING. SO I HAVE TO GO INTO THE DEVICES AND ADAPTER MANAGER DISABLE AND ENABLE FOR HER WORK ONCE AGAIN. SOMETIMES EVEN THAT DOESN'T WORK SO AFTER RESETTING THE ADAPTER, I HAVE TO TURN ON/OFF THE COMPUTER. I HAVE NO CLUE AS WHAT THAT CAUSES THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE IF ANYONE KNOWS HELP.

I suggest to start by checking your system for malware, as follows:

HP computers - solve and protection against viruses on your computer (Windows 8)
Spyware, Adware and browser hijacking software

If that fix it, you're done, otherwise, you should check these:

Troubleshooting wireless network and Internet (Windows 8)
In addition, you can watch the the power management of your wireless adapter:
Turn off the power to the adapter:
1. open Device Manager. (Win Key + R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
2. expand the network adapters.
3. right click on the Ethernet adapter / wireless, and then click Properties.
4. click on the power management tab.
5 remove the check mark next to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
6. click on OK.
7 test cycle.

Forget the network: (Windows 8)
1. press Windows Key + C
2. click on settings.
3. click on change PC settings.
4. click on network on the left.
5. click on manage known networks.
6. click on the name of the network.
7. click on forget.

Reset TCP/IP on your PC:
1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

It can also help to reset the winsock catalog:
1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
3. in the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes, and then press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

Reinstall the NIC drivers:
1. download the drivers from here, but do not run them again.
2. go to your Start menu/screen and type Device Manager.
3. expand network adapters.
4. right click on the wireless adapter and choose uninstall.
5 install the drivers downloaded in step 1.
6. restart your PC and test.

Test an ethernet connection:
Explicit. Test if the problem persists on a wired connection to the adapter hardware troubleshooting wireless can be directed to the appropriate areas.

    I use a laptop Medion MIM 2210 and I have a problem with my wireless network adapter.

    I turned on my laptop today and noticed I had no internet connection, it showed that it connected but with yellow '!' symbol indicating that it was not fully connected.     Of course now, I tried to look for help my internet connection is running but the message is still there. Can someone tell me what to do or how to solve this problem, I am standing now on what to do. I was also on the drivers Medion website but it is impossible to navigate around and drivers without end there'e to choose. I would consider ringing them and asking them if they were not located in Germany as it would cost me a bomb!     The message is to be cause the BIOS looking for boot from LAN (not wireless) before it starts and then from the hard drive. The Media test failure is because to boot from LAN it tests to see if the wired Ethernet is connected, it is not if it generates the error message.

    Enter the BIOS press F2 after initial power on but before the Logo Windows shows

    Integrated devices should allow you to set the settings of wired network adapter. According to the BIOS it is either "enabled with PXE" or have another option to enable or disable the boot ROM

    In the boot options the LAN card should be removed altogether.

    This message is ONLY applicable to the transfer of the BIOS boot process and should have no impact on the problems of WiFi (it is not on WiFi)

    You can't use the wireless connection and the message that the DNS server is not responding.

    The problem may occur if the computer is unable to connect to the DNS server.

    To check, I suggest you follow the steps:

    Method 1: Re-register the DNS

     

    a. Click Start. Type cmd in the search box and press ENTER.

    b. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
    ipconfig/flushdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

    It will display the message properly emptied the cache of DNS resolution.

    c. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
    ipconfig/registerdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

    d. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    ipconfig/all (there is a space between ipconfig and /)
    The command ipconfig/all command displays for all your network adapters, TCP/IP in Windows settings.

    If your IP address of your Local network connection is 0.0.0.0 or 169.x.x.x (where x is a number any), then your computer does not receive an IP address from router.
    If this is the case, try this:

    i. enough at the command prompt ipconfig and press ENTER

    II. ipconfig / renew in command prompt and press ENTER

    The test again by typing ipconfig/all to see what is the address? (If you are on a router, it should start by or 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x 10.x.x.x)

    Method 2:

    a. click Start and then click Control Panel.

    b. go to the networking and sharing Center and then click on change adapter settings.

    c. right-click on connection to the Local network and select Properties.

    d. Select Internet Protocol Version 6, and then click Properties.

    e. choose the DNS server to obtain an address automatically , then press Ok.

    f. Select obtain IP address automatically.

    g. Repeat steps for Internet Protocol version 4 as well.

It defines a way of encapsulating IPv6 packets in IPv4 UDP (User Datagram Protocol) datagrams can be routed through NAT devices, on the IPv4 internet.

    I wish to inform you that Acer has not released Windows 8 compatible drivers for Acer 6292 travel companion.

    I suggest you try to install the drivers for the card wireless in compatibility mode and check if it works. Check out the following link to download and install drivers in compatibility mode.

    The fact that it connects properly in Mode safe indicates that the driver who normally starts with Windows or a program is causing the problem - most likely candidate is to begin by F-Secure.

    Before attempting the following procedure, make sure that you have an installation of F-Secure program, so you can re - install this software, and also a license key necessary to activate it.

    Then, from the windows control panel. Open programs and features, click on the entry for F-Secure once to highlight, and then click the option to uninstall at the top of the window.  Once done, restart the laptop.

    Again, when windows restarts, check the internet connection by using only a known secure site.

    Hi I've had problems with a wireless N5050 for six months now. He was inconsistent and little by little do worse even if the signal always displays also available.     I had you get your product key of McAfee using Belarc Advisor

    Then remove McAfee using the McAfee removal tool , and then restart your computer and try to connect.

    I live in the USA and I have a brand new HP Pavilion dv7tqe running Win 7 64 bit with Intel Centrino Wireless - N 2230 and Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport adapters.  My Netgear router is dual band.

    I can connect both 802.11 g and 802.11n strips very well with a laptop more old.

    My new HP (described above) does not see the 802.11n band.  I installed softawre of network and he does not see 802.11n connection.  Similar software on the laptop old shows 802.11n connection.

    What should I do to be able to connect to the 802.11n band with my dv7tqe?

    I found a solution to the problem of restoring the default settings on my Netgear WNDR3300 router and changing a setting.

    Under "Wireless settings", I changed the MODE of "up to Mbps to GHz.  This changed the 11N CHANNEL setting to ' 03 / 2,422 Ghz»  And he in dimmed my 11G SSID NAME.  Subsequently, my new HP laptop could connect to the network N - and all the other 802.11n devices could also.

    I lost the G network on my router, that's why I call it a 'solution '.  I would like to than older laptops to be able to connect to my network and so I'll continue to play with the settings.  I'm happy right now that my new laptop is correct!

    BTW, I contacted HP Support before making the above changes and their advice has been...

    1 - check the specific registry entries and change them if they existed.  [They did not exist].

    2nd - update of the BIOS and the wireless network card drivers.  [They were up-to-date.].

    3 - replace the wireless adapter.  [Do not].

    A clarification about my original posting...

    My laptop is a HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 Quad Edition, product # A5F92AV (bought in June 2012).

  • Satellite A200 - problems with the AC adapter / CC

    The problem concerns a Satellite A200 (PSAF6A-02H01N).

    Recently, there was problems with the laptop, taking several attempts to boot to Vista, it would lock up while loading or just hang and freeze just after loading Vista.
    But once it was up and the laptop running would be happy working for hours with the AC adapter is plugged in.

    The problem got worse now and the laptop will not load Vista end without crashing.
    We have now reduced the computer down to have only a problem when the power adapter is connected.
    The laptop battery will charge normally with the AC adapter is plugged in and the laptop on standby or off.

    The problem persists with the AC adapter is plugged in and the battery removed.
    The laptop will start and run perfectly with battery and no power adapter plugged. Once the AC adapter is plugged in the laptop indicates that the battery is charging and then after a few seconds it crash or freeze and the only escape is a full stop.
    The laptop will not work under the battery power for 30 minutes max.
    I checked the output voltage of the AC adapter and this seems to be a consistent 19.4 Volts.

    Is this only a problem of AC adapter or the problem with the laptop?

Hmm. !! .. seems to me like this might be a prob. material. Maybe a new motherboard?... anyone have an idea of what are the costs for that perhaps? .. an ASP or decent technician backstreet?...

    I'm losing my wireless connection, but it shows that I am connected to the internet. I disconnect and reconnect and even though it shows I'm connected it does not connect to the web browser. Has anyone tried with a map of wiresless instead of the computer?

If putting a wireless card in the computer would cure the problem I would be but what hard ware and soft ware problem?

    1. have you done any change in software on the computer lately?

    I suspect that there is a third-party application which is in conflict with the wireless connection. Configure the computer to clean boot and check if it works very well. If it works fine, we can use a 50-50 approach to find the conflicting application. See the article below for more information on the clean boot.
