"Adobe Acrobat Reader DC cannot open 'amy application' because it's a non supported file type or because the file is damaged."
I received this message during indexing on my computer. I could not get the message, so I
uninstalled Adobe.
After you have uninstalled Abobe, I was able to get all my jobs and applications (with the exception of adobe files).
Then I tried to re - install Adobe, but who has turned to a complicated procedure.
There are so many choices, and there are a number of downloadable updates. What was I guess what to do? But I have chosen one of the Adobes and tried to install it.
After that I don't know what happened. All my desktop icons are now Adobe icons in place. that is The Firefox icon is now replaced by an icon of Adobe. It is the same for several other desktop program icons. (QuickTime, chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.)
When I try to open the program by clicking on it, I get the above message.
I went to the site of help from Adobe and read a complex string of instructions, including
words like '% pdf', "DWROD" and, for me, other nonsensical words and phrases.
Needless to say that the instructions were no help.
I said all that to say this. I want that my computer back. What should I do to do?
Sincerely,
Ralph Thompson

I have a Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Service Pack 2 Dell. He read/won't recognise no videos HD taken with my Canon camcorder HDD21/AVCHD (MTS format). Each attempt generates a message stating "Windows Media Player may not support the file type or the codec that the file compressed. I used a Windows 7 PC, which allowed me to play the video from the camcorder and burn a DVD of the video to share with the family. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you

How to fix a download that is "a supported file type not or because the file has been damaged"
I downloaded files from an e-mail to SAVE in the Documents and when I went to OPEN it with ADOBE READER, I received a message that "Adobe Reader cannot open this file because it is not a type of file supported or because the file has been damaged (e.g. He was sent as an attachment to e-mail and has not been correctly decoded. I'm a novice at this and do not understand really that. What can I do to fix this so I can play this file? Can you help me?
Nope... I'm not confused.
MP4 is a film format and has nothing to do with
Adobe Reader. You need an application that can read a MP4 video file.
The free VLC Media Player may be worth a try:
(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)VLC Media Player
http://www.filehippo.com/download_vlc/
(works on XP/Vista/7)
(the name of the file to download is: vlc - 2.0.1 - win32.exe)When you have installed... VLC right click of your MP4
file and choose the menu... Play with VLC
Media Player.Information on creating a file association...
Right-click a file... in this case a MP4... and the
menu... Choose... Properties / change button... Choose
the program that you want to use (VLC Media Player) and
Click on... OK / apply / OK.What does that make VLC Media Player default
program for MP4 files. The next time you click left a MP4 file... VLC expected
start and play the file.Let's recap...
Since the MP4s are downloaded on the net...
they are not attachments and my previous instructions
on... File / save attachments... do not apply. -

My colleague from shared files with me through a flash drive, but a number of its pdf files included a period in the name of the file, and now I can not open them. Is there a way to solve this problem on my end? He is a colleague busy, and I don't want to ask him to pass through and rename all its files.
Files with a period have the same name (next to this period) than the others
files in the same folder? If Yes, then you can ignore them, they just Mac
stay, no real PDF files.

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file. (((PLEASE HELP)))
I understand that this has been a matter of repetition and I made the suggestions listed and nothing works. This just started happening, although downloading songs, and once they are finished I'm not able to play them with Windows Media Player. The initial message indicates that the file has an extension that is not recognized by Windows Media Player.
I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with Windows Vista Home. Any suggestions? What should I chahnge how I download and save music?
Hey Taylor09,
You may find that you are getting this message in Windows Media Player due to one of the following reasons.
a. you try to play a file that is not supported by the player.
b. you are trying to play a file that the player does not support, but the file was compressed by using a codec that is not supported by the player.
Step 1:
Confirm that you are trying to play a supported file type. The following article lists the types of files (formats) supported by Windows Media Player.
Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player
Note that if you tried to play the file type is included in this table, the file might have been encoded with a codec that is not supported by Windows Media Player. If this is the case, Windows Media Player cannot play the file.
Step 2:
Download the necessary codec to play the file.
For more information of Codec, see: Codecs: frequently asked questions

Cannot open .pdfs - not supported or damaged - file type encoding
HI, we have questions at an increasing rate where users receive the following error message when you try to open a .pdf attachment:
This seems to occur during the transmission of a document to the iPhone/iPad and any attempt to open in Outlook. We use Outlook/Exchange 2010 and most users have Adobe Acrobat DC. There is no problem if a user send from their PC. We see this with about 10% of all attackers. Did anyone else encounter this problem and is the encoding of the root cause? Version below:
Thanks for any help!
See you soon,.

Yes, I thought. This file is not not to open it with Acrobat Reader. Open it in Windows Explorer. It will be like a folder (without the ZIP on the end).

I've just updated all my FF browsers to the latest version and now regret it.
Can I go back? Security be doomed, because I manage a daily site and use jpg all the time. When I open Joomla to create my new assignments, the FF browser now blocks the download of all the jpgs on my web server. Safari has still properly download jpg files, but does not allow other manipulations of images (when I work in Joomla).
(1) can I fix in FF
(2) if not, can I go back to a previous v. of FF if I now v. 12?You have the option to update PVE? This thread suggests she could solve the problem: Joomla! - View topic - problem downloading photos in the JCE Editor. Another suggests to disable a different download option (but that means nothing to me): type file not supported - file: undefined. Extended image 2.0.2 Manager.
