HP G60-243CL

I have to open my old HP 243 CL and I tell myself that while I'm here, I will replace the processor RM72 (with the S1g2 socket).   Will be the recent/most fastest cpu ZM-87 in this system work?  I have upgraded the bios and can't see anything obvious, preventing him from working, unless my motherboard will not accept anything other than the RM series.   Anyone ever done this swap?

2nd question - AMD has never come out with the ZM-88?   It is listed in the wiki, but I can't find any place that sells it-

Thank you for your help-

BTW, this laptop has been upgraded to memory 4 GB, Windows 7 x 64 and a Vertex 2 SSD.

The ZM-80 and ZM - 82 are supported

Your manual

See Page 1-1

The ZM-87 'could' work, but you generally only safe installation processors HP offered on your motherboard.

  • What are the motherboard data transfer rate on a HP G60 - 243CL?

I bought my laptop HP G60 - 243CL of Costco 3 years ago and continues to function perfectly. Since then I have maxed out the 320 Gig HARD drive. A few days ago, I transferred all my multimedia files of a terabyte of 1.5 external HDD. I also removed and uninstalled all the software that didn't come with the laptop pre-installed. I ran the Disk Cleaner to delete the temporary files... etc. I left pretty much the State of Out-Of-The-Box laptop... I also ran the Windows disk defragmentation application.  Although it has all updates from Windows Update. I doubt that the above mentioned is relevant to my question. The laptop came with two modules of RAM PC2-5300... a 1 Gig and 2 Gig. I replaced both with two sticks of modules/memory 2 GB PC2 - 6400. Other that this hardware upgrade, I've also upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate edition 64-bit. Now, I am also considering upgrading to an SSD HARD drive. I have of course read/write speeds rise as SSD memory ability increases (depending on model)... for ex: there is a huge difference in the rate of data transfer speeds in a 32 Gig SSD compared to a 256 GB SSD. At least that's what I noticed. I want to install a Gig of CRUCIAL 512 or possibly a CRUCIAL 256 GB SSD. Read/write speeds are respectively of 500 MB/s and 260 MB/s, or 230 MB/sec and 190 MB/s (again, depending on the model). My question is noticed in the SUBJECT field. Can you please help me make a wise decision? I wish that more technical details as possible. Thanks... :-)

This laptop is equipped with SATA I, which is 150Gbit/s. You will not reach the maximum speed of your SSD, but it will be much faster then your current old school disc spinner. An SSD will always exceed a normal HARD drive. In addition, you should see a bump in battery life as well.

    I hope this helps!

  • A firewire port connectable to a HP G60 - 243CL?

HP G60 - 243 CL, Vista 32-bit, is possible to connect a Firewire camcorder to this computer?

    Hello

Based on this, your machine lacks any firewire port. It has no Expresscard slot therefore the single adapter, you can use is USB to Firewire like this:

    Hi Bill,

In this case, it would look like it is a hardware problem.

As your laptop is still under warranty, my best advice would be to contact HP and make arrangements for this fixed - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

  • upgrade processor G60

Hello I have a laptop G60-530US older and who plan to make the updates with the CPU. I have a few sitting around and want to use something other than the T4300.

I called HP several times and got the "Please hold while I direct your call", then take a cut.

All I want is the compatibility list CPU so I can see what I have and see if I can install it. I know it's an Intel Socket P, so it can be replaced. I've updated the BIOS F.65.

The system runs Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with 8 GB of RAM plans

I have about 12-20 Socket P processors laying around, ranging from T6 *, * T7, T8 *, to T9 *. So all I need to know is what is the maximum supported CPU?

If I am changing it might as well bring the best in is what I say!

Or just the support list so I can install the right one in my collection.

Help, please... No one has any info

    Hello again indianmetallord,

I am pleased to have been able to solve your problem. Could you please mark my post where I brought the solution here as an acceptable Solution to anyone in the future who has the same issue can easily find the same resolution.

  • G60-230US == > does not connect to the wireless network

    Greetings...

I got my new laptop a G60-230US with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 yesterday... I was so excited. I quickly put in place and the network manager. He finds my home network (a router we Robotics MaxG 5641), had the exceptional signal strength, I have provided the password. It didn't connect to the network. I have 3 other devices without any problem. Then I disabled the firewall, antivirus etc. on the computer, I've disabled the security on the router and tried... Still no luck. I called the help desk yesterday evening, and a clueless CSR tried to 'Help me' After I turn the router, computer, WIFI (everything that I had already tried), she suggested that I should contact my ISP and get a new password. I explained to him that the password has been created by me for my own US Robotics router and ISP had nothing to with her... She just kept saying the same thing... and I politely thanked her and hung up at midnight...

This morning, I tried something else. I tried ipconfig / all and I don't have any useful info, except that it says "Device off" I tried ipconfig/release and he told me that the action must be raised. I am the administrator on this computer.

U.S. Robotics indicates that this default router should work for Vista, because a router is independent of the operating system

    Any idea is extremely appreciated...

    Thank you!

    Shankar

I went to the office today max and I bought a new router D-Link Wireless N for $40. Came home and set up... and this baby is immediately connected to 130 Mbps! I'm all set... Great computer... I'm glad it works...

  • HP G60 laptop boots HP logo, and then recycles - Windows 7

I just installed a new keyboard on my laptop G60 running Windows 7 Enterprise Edition. before putting the screws in the battery compartment area, I replaced the battery and turned on my laptop unpluggced to see if the new keyboard work. Everything worked perfectly.

So I closed the lid of my laptop, removed the battery, put the screws, replace the battery and press the power button, now my laptop boots as much as the HP logo, with the option to press ESC to the Start Menu, then the screen goes black and travels to the HP logo. This cycles goes and indefinitely. I am able to access the Start Menu. I removed the new keyboard and tried to start it again - same thing. I then tried using my old keyboard to see if that makes a difference - no change.

    Any advice? Thank you.

Hi - I tried that after I posted this question, and it turned out to be a previously installed update that was causing the problem. I had to restore my system to a previous date before the update was installed, and this has solved the problem. Thank you!

  • Can I make my HP G60 running Windows 7 64 bit?

Currently, my system has 3 GB of RAM that I know can not support 64 bit and I need at least 4 GB but is there something I can replace (as perhaps the card mother?) to make it work? I have some knowledge about the things of this question, but I hear people say that such things are not possible, but then there are people who say it's possible. I really appreciate any help, thank you!

You have it backwards. You don't need 4 GB of RAM to run 64-bit Windows; you need 64-bit Windows support more than 3 GB of RAM. We would need to know the exact model, but as far I know most if not all G60s will run 64-bit Windows. All that is needed is a 64-bit processor. If the computer has a 64-bit processor, it obviously has a card mother and chipset supporting a 64-bit processor. All AMD Turion x 2 processors are 64-bit, for example. Even some Semprons and Celeron 64-bit processors. You can install Windows 64 bit on 2 GB of RAM, as long as the processor supports. There is no reason to do so, but it can be done.
