I have a hp w2338h monitor, running Windows 7 and I am unable to turn off the monitor through the top switch. The power cord seems loose in its connection to the monitor. Do I just a new cord or something else is necessary?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Try to push the power cord firmly upward.  It should not move when it is completely inserted.

Try a reset of the monitor. Unplug the power cord from the monitor and hold the power button of the monitor for 30 to 60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and it lights up.

  • The USB power cord is dead and I can't load because no other cable fits!

I do not understand the problem! Not a single micro USB cord I have in the House (I tried 5) be well adjusted, resulting in the Tablet does not charge, or only charge if I hold the plug in just the right place. I also bought a new cord and it didn't fit either. All of these cords work well in my other devices.

  • Power failure/loose Power Bar power cord

I want to run a few questions in front of the members of the forum:

Last week, my power bar power cord became loose and off the bar, which stops the computer and the monitor. The monitor has a power button function.

Before that other devices in the power bar are turned off and unplugged, until the power bar is turned off, until the power is reconnected, until the power bar is turned off, before other devices are plugged in, and before that the devices are suppressed:

    1. in the event that the computer and the monitor will turn off (as they were in the position 'On' when they stop unexpectedly) "or" there is no 'Off' option either on the computer, the monitor, or both devices so that they can be disconnected and reconnected since they will be in the position "Off"?

    2. If the computer and the monitor are 'On' when they turn off automatically during a power failure, can they be left alone without the risk of a wave when the power is restored, OR is there a risk of a surge?

    b. is there "is" a risk of a surge because they are still in position "On", should they be disabled (or they are already in the "Off" position?) unplugged and should bar be off and unplugged then until the power is restored?

    3. in fact, during a blackout, should all appliances be turned off and disconnected, so there is no risk of a circuit breaker of the circuit limit, causing a power surge, or if all appliances can remain plugged in and left in their respective "On / Off" position since before the failure?

    Hello

    Sorry for the late reply.

It is advisable to have the power with a surge protector bar in areas where the power failure and the cutting power is often or generally just to ensure the security of your system and in particular data. If in your region, power failure, power failure is rare, so you can avoid surge protector.

Hope, I could answer your query. Feel free to post on the forum if you have any concerns more associated with Windows. We will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite L40 - 14N boot question without power cord

Had this problem for a while, any ideas please?

My Satellite L40 - 14N sometimes won't start when the power cord is not connected. It starts ok but when I get to the Windows screen drops colored that keep moving from left to right and the machine will not get one more no matter how much time is left.

This never seems to happen when the power cord is connected and is turned on, it starts very well.

    Hi starmonkey,

What power lead do you mean exactly? Do you mean the AC/DC adapter?

To be honest, I also don t know why this happens, but you use pre-installed OS from Toshiba?
You have installed a different display driver?

Maybe you should try to reinstall Windows in worst case it s a bad material work :(

  • Satellite Pro U400 freezes sometimes when the power cord is plugged

Hello! I know that this problem has been addressed here and there, but I'd like to open a new thread about it. Here's the scenario.

I recently bought a new Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-247 (PSU45E) with two batteries: (a) the original, (b) in addition purchased authentic of Toshiba PA3636U-1BRL, 7200 mAh. The laptop has the latest BIOS (4.80) and the latest drivers downloaded from Toshiba and installed (ConfigFree is not installed). I use XP Pro SP3 (own installation by myself). Everything works fine, except for one thing:

Sometimes (but), when the laptop is running on battery power and I plug in the power cord, everything hangs and I have to restart. A few observations:

    It tends to occur more frequently when the low battery alarm has rung;
    (b) it seems to happen more frequently with the 7200 mAh battery and less frequently with the original battery.
    (c) it seems to happen most often when a USB device (mouse, for example) has been linked to the laptop, but it is not a rule;
    (d) it seems to happen less often when I move the mouse USB at the time wherever I am connect the power cord.
    (e) I've experimented a lot with Toshiba PowerSaver settings (for example to change the levels of CPU for my profile) but nothing I changed seems to change the situation.
    (f) I tried different suggestions I found on various forums, but nothing works (for example the BIOS settings);
    (g) otherwise, I can say that I have not really seen a smoother computer, everything works really fine, no other problem :)

Everything that makes me think it must be some sort of bug in the drivers of motherboard driver PowerSaver or other drivers interact with battery, CPU or possibly USB. Y at - it an explanation to this problem and can it be rectified in some way (for example, by providing a driver update)?

    Hello

First of all, I never heard a driver from the motherboard.
There is a drive chipset or a graphics card driver. There is no such thing as a driver of the motherboard!

Look, man. laptop should work fine even the AC adapter is connected or not connected
If the laptop freezes while there might be a software problem, but in my opinion it could be hardware problem
You must reinstall the operating system if the laptop would freeze always the issue might be related to hardware

First of all the memory modules and AC adapter must be verified.
If the problem persists even using new modules and AC adapter, motherboard may be affected.

  • Equium L40-156 - power cord melted!

My daughter just called me in a panic that his Toshiba laptop power cord started smoking and melted!
The laptop is about 2 years old.

Does anyone else have this problem that I wonder? do you think it is safe to use with just the battery? Don't know what to do about it - any advice would be welcomed!

    Thank you

I would not use the laptop, the power failure may have damaged components of the laptop.

You have to send the laptop adapter + cable to a service provider authorized to ensure its all working properly.

  • problems of ultra maxx charges with a power cord

Sometimes my Maxx will begin charging when I plug, sometimes it requires a reboot before it will start to load. I tried a new power cord from Verizon and the results are the same. I got the phone because he is out, and the problem started a couple of weeks. Someone can offer some advice or should I go to? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

By a new power cord do you mean just the cord or adapter as well? If only the power cord that I suggest that you try using a different card first thus.

Also make sure you have the USB plug inserted at bottom. You don't want to lift or turn it on, but push to make sure that it is firmly in place.

If this continues to happen that I would propose a factory data reset. Who will rule on software issues. If the FDR works advertising repair/replacement would be the next logical step. HTH

  • OfficeJet 8720: Officejet HP 8720 (D9L19A): power cord issue & legality in the United Kingdom

    Hello

As a society, we standardize more than 150 sites on the new printer HP Officejet Pro 8720.

We ordered about 8 at our dealer online recently (Softcat) and each arrived with a European power cord 2 pin and not a power cord 3 pins of the UK.

This causes significant confusion for our end users, and I think that it is illegal to even provide goods in the EU without the correct national power cord.

Our retailer say that HP have armed upward and shipped loads of these 8720's without the correct power cords. It seems that a mass surveillance on HP is illegal and a part too? How can this happen?

Surely all stock the 8720's should be limited to the British market and fixed with the right power cord?

I have not reported this Exchange Standard yet, but I want to just get an idea of what's going on?

    Thank you

  • HP PC laptop power cord safety program removal and replacement

I buy laptop HP P r022tx last month. I saw that HP Notebook PC AC Power cord safety recall and the program of replacement on the HP site. • Power cord not identified

My computer does not identify power cord I use and will not charge the battery. He tells me to plug a 65W or higher in order to achieve maximum capacity, battery, but that's what I use. I tried restarting the computer and power management, but nothing switching work. Now, my laptop must be connected at all times. What should I do?

    Hello

Certainly possible that the load and the battery circuit has problems - battery may
must be replaced. A good computer store can say what to (not the leeks and peaks at)
a BestBuy or other big box stores) or the manufacturer of your system Support.

Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have on line forums.

New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload then less than 30%
However on a laptop that not extend their life a lot. Best is to use the a/c adapter
    When this is possible.

I use the free version of BatteryBar to monitor my battery. Click on the green button on the
Yellow box on the right side of the page to download the latest stable version.

  • Pavilion DV2000 power cord failure

I went through several power cords for my laptop Pavilion DV2000Z. A couple of them felt like they have overheated. The biggest problem has been that they fail to power the laptop. I do all connections, no power. I find that I need to move the connections and/or by shaking the whole string in order to get the cord in just the right position it will provide power.

A little while ago, I heard a cracking sound, like electric sparks. I looked down to the power supply cord and smelled burning plastic. I have one plugged in the power cord, waited a few moments and it reconnected. I found when I waved the portion of the rope connecting the output to the control area of power that I continued to hear the Crackle.

The technician gave me a link to find a center of HP in my service, and with a search of 900 miles, there is nothing here. I told them this, and now they have me call the helpline... wish me good luck with that. * Rolleyes *.

I had a few other problems with this computer that have been resolved quickly and effectively, but this problem of power cord is endless, and it seems that all my replacements have been rehabilitated. It is the first HP laptop, I bought and the last... my next will be a Lenovo/ThinkPad.

Anyway, if anyone has experienced this problem, and if so, were you able to get a power adapter that seems as if it will actually last as long as the computer is? Any suggestions? Thank you!

    Let me know!

I ordered their client of this site. Click here.  Not bad for $4.
