  If the instructions that you need a cable then you need a cable. On several printers now, you don't need USB cable for Setup (that's why many boxes do not have) and you can run the installation on your computer or a button on the printer.

• HP LaserJet 4300 prints gibberish for a single user, but prints OK for all others on a Windows 7 32-bit

  HP LaserJet 4300 printer installed via LPT1 using Universal Print Driver v5.2.6.9321 on a desktop HP 8100 running Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit SP1.

  This printer prints gibberish for a particular user, any type of document that it tries to print.

  Not sure when the problem started, the user uses a network printer to work around this problem. It allows to print to one of the other HP printers on our network OK, including another 4300 in the hallway.

  Everyone can connect and print the documents themselves OK on this office using this printer.

  Tried to restart the HP 8100 and power cycling and off the 4300. Also uninstalled and reinstalled the 4300.

  I have updated the firmware on the 4300.

  Change the print processor in the printer properties did not help either.

  Analysis of virus and malware detected any problems.

  Any advice for this problem would be greatly appreciated.

• HP LaserJet P1102: USB not recognized during installation of HP LaserJet P1102

  I have a Sony Vaio VPCEH computer laptop with Windows 7 and when I run the disk I got with the printer on my laptop, that the installation procedure works in what concerns the section "Install printer Software". When you are prompted to turn on the printer and connect the cable USB to the laptop it says 'USB not recognized '.  I tried all 4 slots USB into my laptop but the USB still appears as an unknown device with an exclamation point in a yellow triangle. I searched internet solutions and tried to uninstall the unknown device in Device Manager and restart the installation with the disc, I also tried clicking on the unknown device driver software update but it says the software driver is up to date and still, it shows as an unknown device and is not recognized. I also tried to uninstall the HP software from the disc on my laptop and that reinstall but nothing has worked. I felt for over 2 weeks now and have not been able to use it because of this problem and I really need for University, so I would be very happy if someone could please give me a solution to this problem

  Have you tried another USB cable?

  Because the printer is not detected on the Mac, it may be the USB port of the printer.

  What happened when you tried to install the printer on Mac?

  Error messages?

  Your printer does not support with/without wire and your router cannot act as a wireless via USB port print server:

  You can purchase a wireless print server, BUT believe me, it would cost more than buying a new printer with wireless ready now and 50 percent chance he'll give you a lot of problems. You can also buy a new router that has the option of wireless print server. I don't know to connect two printers.

  I wonder if the port on the Laserjet 1000 series is a USB converted to the parallel port, as the connectors look almost identical.

  The port does not seem to be a serial port or standard parallel, it appears the formatted also makes a few USB converter cable.

  Users have reported that connect the db-25 connector, or a port series or parallel port does not work.  You will need to use the supplied USB cable.

  Add a printer

  Add a local printer

  Select create a new port:

  Select Local Port for the port Type:

  Enter the name of the network to the XP computer that is. \\XPcomputername\LJprinterid

  Install the LaserJet 1020 driver when prompted

  This did it for me.

  The Laserjet 4 do not have a USB port.  You use a USB / parallel?  These can be problematic.  The posts here have USB-parallel cable users reported work with Windows 7.

• m277dw: m277dw scanning network vs usb connections

  I have my new m277dw put in place with a wired network connection.  All right.  The "scan to network" function works well, but it is pretty basic.   for example, no preview, crop, on mode settings flying, etc..  Does anyone know if direct scanning software used with a USB connection has all the extra features?  If so, I could try to add the USB connection on the nearest computer.  BTW, does anyone know if the printer supports a USB connection AND network at the same time the same computer?

  I see that you have some questions analysis about the printer HP Laserjet m277dw, on Windows 7. And I'm happy to help you!

  The scanning software would be the same software you use now, if you have changed your USB connection. You could possibly install the printer using the two connections, but it is not recommended, because you can confuse the computer on which connection printer you use. And still will not print correctly. Would you choose manually on the computer, printer, print every time you print. For example, you may have a printer named HP Laserjet m277dw (USB) and the other named m277dw of the HP Laserjet (network).

  If you are looking for different scanning options, you can always try scanning without using HP software and try to use the third-party scanning software instead. Please, consult this guide, scan from Windows 7 without software HP for HP Multifunction printers, for instructions.

• iMac does not recognize the function analysis of the LaserJet Pro

  My iMac has OS X v. 10.7.3.  It does not recognize the analysis function of the HP LaserJet professional M1217 MFP nfw which is connected wireless.  I can print with the HP success but the dialog box not incllude not a scan option.  I can't scan from preview or iPhoto or (as suggested by some rsources).  I tried to connect the printer LaserJet by USB but that doesn't solve a problem either.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the software, including HP PrinterDrivers.pkg.  I get the automatic updates from Apple which have not helped.

  Solved my problem! Full featured driver on the Windows 8 machine allowed me to access the device settings and start the cleaning cycle.

  Follow these steps: on the machine Windows 7, download and run the Laserjet 1020 driver from here HP site.  When the installer comes to point of asking to connect through the USB port, and then click Cancel.

  Now go to the folder, devices and printers, add printer, a local printer, create a port, port Local, next, \\xpcomputer\printername (with the names of appropriate to share the printer and the computer XP sharing), then choose the Laserjet 1020.

• Windows 7 hates my HP LaserJet 1200

  Windows 7 really hate my HP LaserJet 1200 USB.  Windows 7 is supposed to have built-in support for LaserJet 1200.  Windows 7 says the built-in driver is not the suitable driver for my device and it will not let filled manually install a driver, even if I could get one.  Any ideas on how to successfully install a printer HP LaserJet 1200 on Windows 7?

  6 install the driver of printe... Select (Windows Update)... wait a few minutes and much more

  7 select "HP"... then "LaserJet 1200 PCL 5' list... next

  8. wait a few minutes or more... life would be not that simple if you don't try.

  Suddenly, my Laserjet 4300 printer in network works today. Luckily I also have network Laserjet 9040 printer as a backup.

  I have serched the HP website, but couldn't find a place to order a replacement of the Commission on the network. This printer is in service since 2004, so it is not covered by a warranty or service contract.

  I remembered how I solved this problem years ago for another old printer. I did a search on ebay and was able to get a replacement for the network card for $30. It should arrive today.
