HP Laserjet CP3525 Firmware update failure

I tried to update the firmware on a HP color Laserjet CP3525 using a USB connection by following the instructions that were posted on the HP website for the update of the Firmware.  It seemed that everything was fine, but when the printer is restarted it never gets past 6/6 on the LED display screen.  I left the printer in this condtion for several hours and it never gets beyond this area. I guess the upgrade of the Firmware caused the printer to do a hardware failure and is not recoverable, but I hope someone might be able to help get this back to the top and work.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, in general if the firmware update was interrupted for some reason any it would lead to this. This may be caused on the side of the computer (rebooting/logging out/end of the process until it's full) or the cord to which you are connected with, it is damaged in any way or not well focused in the USB ports.  I'm sorry you're in this situation, I understand that in a situation with limited spending caps, you would have legitimate to update concerns your other machines.

If you have any questions or problems I or one of my colleagues are on this forum almost 24/7.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week, Bob!

I want to update the firmware on my Laserjet CP5225DN 2013. Instructions for downloading that the printer must be connected via USB. But when I run the exe firmware on my windows 10 desktop, it finds the printer on the network.

I can possibly ruin my printer when trying to run the update of the firmware via the network instead of via USB?

In order to run the update via the USB port, I have to carry the desktop PC to another from one end of the House.  All laptops that we have are macs, and the update of the firmware only works on a PC.  I expect a professional printer to be easier to manage than to require a USB connection, but I dream?

Thanks for any help you can provide, as the warranty has expired for a long time.

The instructions are as they are for a reason. Wired connection for firmware updates is always better. If wireless has been used and the wireless drop in the middle of the update, your printer can be roasted.

  • LaserJet 4250dtsnl Firmware update failed, now shows "Send Update"

I was updating several of our printers in a network using HP WebJet Admin last night and there was a (LaserJet 4250dtsnl - Q5404A) printer that had active print jobs that runs through, as the firmware has been updated.  In the WJA interface, the upgrade of the firmware hung 99% and the message on the control panel of the printer showed performing the upgrade.  Today we power cycle the printer.

He is (was) a 500/stapler connected (Q2443B) sheet that displays now an orange light and we have received a message on the sign indicating 'FIRMWARE CORRUPT ACCESSORRY externally' and ' RETURN '.  I tried to update the firmware using HOSTS (although he showed that he already had the correct version).  Same result, hanged 99%.

Power cycling the device and tried to update via USB using the easy update utility.  Once again, same result.  Engine turned off, unplugged the stacker, pulled the power cord plugged in, and the only message on the screen was 'return Upgrade.  I tried once more to send the update via the USB port, but the message "Upgrade to return" remains.

I am able to print test pages, so the printing functionality seems to work, but I did have the chance to test with a variety of documents.

As I wrote this, I found another thread that says: "go to peripheral configuration, system configuration, ramdisk, set it to Off" and try to update the firmware again to remove the message "Upgrade to return" (http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Printers-LaserJet/Laserjet-4250-resend-update-after-firmware-upgrade/m-...).  I wonder if this can fix the damaged electric stackers.  Should I reconnect the electric Stacker before you make this correction, or anyone has any other suggestions?

    Thank you.

While I did not set the stapler/bin, I was able to get rid of the message "Update of return" by the following steps:

    Turn the printer off
Power to the printer, and when departures memory counting, press and hold the Stop button
Wait until all three lights come on

Press the green check button, then press the Menu key
Scroll to clear all the errors of the RFU and press the green check button twice
Turning the printer off, wait 10 seconds, then turn on the printer
The poster printer now ready, but to be on the safe side, I did upgrade the firmware again via the USB port.

    Problem solved.

  • HP LaserJet 1518ni - Firmware update does nothing

    Hello people

I'm trying to upgrade my HP LaserJet 1518ni to the latest Firmware (2013-11-08, Version20130923, 4.22 M).

My current firmware datecode is: 20120110

    I went here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3422472

    Downloaded the file CP1510_Series_FW_Update - 20130923.exe

Firewall turned and AntVirus OFF, ran the executable with administrative privileges - he says he finds the printer and I see a progress bar and also the smiley at the end. But the printer is impressed and shows just "Ready" on the LCD screen, nothing has changed: files does simply nothing.

Tried via IP Port as well as USB on another PC, same effect.

    What's not?

Where are the good old. RFU file that I just can TFTP at the printer...?

    Thank you

    Thomas

    HI Jamieson et al.

OK, I solved it: the HP printer driver installed you need to update the firmware with the HP tool.

Inbox drivers using windows will not allow the tool to work.

As soon as I installed the HP Universal print driver I got it to work.

Would be easy for the firmware tool check, if 1) it comes to the printer 2) the sine qua non of a HP driver installed is given.

Unfortunately the tool simply sends the one-way firmware to a device.

    Thanks anyway,

    Thomas

  • The E900 firmware update failure

Hello. I recently bought a Wireless Linksys E900 N300 router. I've set up and working correctly but it won´t I would like to update the firmware. It came with 1.0.03 build 2 (31 July 2012) installed and I wanted to install the latest version, 1.0.05.008 (15/07/2013).

Upgrade process starts just fine, but it always stops at 50%, then pages refreshes and turns off and stays that way, no matter how long wait. I tried to download the firmware again, but it made no difference. The router has continued to work properly after the update failed, BTW.

How can I solve this? Thank you very much in advance.

    Hi jhr76,

Have you ever tried to use another computer or another browser to upgrade the firmware? If you are finished and it still does not work, you can try to assign a static IP address on your computer, perform a hard reset, then use the TFTP Upgrade utility. Just do a google search for TFTP2 and download the tftp2.exe file and then use it to level or to Flash the firmware.

  • 277dw Lasetjet MFP: Firmware Update for my Laserjet MFP 277dw

This morning my printer has informed me of an update of the firmware, which naturally installed. The printer print is no longer because I have 3 party laser cartridges.  I had heard of tactics HP injet printers, but never thought that they would stoop so low just to force me to buy their cartridges, which for color laserjet, is very expensive.

I currently have the following HP hardware:

    1. High-end ENVY Phoenix 850-065se Desktop (i7-5960 x)
    2. New portable high-end OMEN
    3. 277dw LaseJet MFP
    4. Chromebook 11

I am also a partner HP started.

How much chance do you think it is I will NEVER buy HP hardware again?

If you use laser 3 rd-party cartridges, do NOT have the HP firmware updates.

Find another thread to the M277 that seems to relate to yours:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/LaserJet-printing/M277DW-supply-memory-error-all-cartridges/m-p/5766705/highlight/true#M294371

The solution by the user in this one suggests a bad patch as opposed to a deliberate attempt by HP, third block laser cartridges.  It is more credible to me than what HP did with the OfficeJets.  He fixed in downgrading the firmware that atleast confirms that the problem is associated with firmware.

I commented on another M252 thread on a similar power error message:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/LaserJet-printing/how-to-revert-fix-recent-firmware-update-for-HP-colour/m-p/5809720#M297289

I think its time to crush us this one and get a comment from HP support directly.  If you would be so kind as to contact HP directly through Chat or by phone, we can get an official and timely response.  Then share what you said with the rest of us.  The community can get the word out from there.

I also found another thread dig deeper and providing a link to an old version of firmware, if you want to try it yourself:

  • LaserJet M4345 MFP firmware upgrade failure using the HP Download Manager

    Hi all

I have a LaserJet M4345 multifunction printer, and I tried to see if there is any updated firmware for the printer.
When I try to access the web configuration interface, I see that the printer is running a firmware with 20070213 code 09.071.8

I downloaded the software from the HP Download Manager to try to update the printer automatically with a simple procedure.

The program finds the printer and said that she needed upgrade. He showed that the printer is model J7949E and current firmware V.33.14 while the update of the Firmware version has been V.33.21

I leave the program to start the process of update, but as soon as I said to start the update immediately (do not), a new window will appear showing the status of update and it closed after less than a second, replaced by another saying that the firmware update was complete.

Although I was skeptical about the process in so little time, I tried to check again the printer web configuration interface, but it showed that the firmware was always the same, I saw earlier (20070213 09.071.8). To try to detect the printer from the Manager software download HP found that the printer was still need upgrading (and asked me if I wanted to do now). Try once led to the same results.

I tried to restart the printer, the program and the computer with no result.

I'm running Windows 7 32 bit and the printer is connected to the router which I connect this pc wireless.

If I can provide any other information, please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Piero

Hey Unreal, the product that you have is a printer. These commercial products can be a little tricky. For the best chance of finding a solution, I would post in the forum for HP Business Support.

You can find the Board Commercial LaserJet here:

  • Misprints LaserJet 500 M551 after firmware update

I recently updated the firmware on the M551 dn 500 laserjet printer.  I installed the update of the firmware successfully, but I keep is printed with characters on the pages 'trash '.  He randomally prints this way and is not consistent.  I don't have that happen after the upgrade.

I updated the firmware twice in an attempt to erase mistakes without result.

I did the format clean and complete part and I still get the same errors that occur.

I tried the upgrade to the current pcl6 driver as well.

I use windows xp and older windows programs.  This happens in the office software and software autodesk as well.

I am ready to return to the previous update of the firmware if possible.  I had problems with this firmware update so (printer refuses to print after a period of time), but I'm ready to come back just so that I can keep the waste of paper.

I've attached an example of printed copies.

    Hi vbrown,

I don't know what worm pcl6. you use, but try to drive perhaps PS

  • color laserjet mfp m277dw pro: the new Firmware update

My M277dw printer is automatically downloaded and installed a firmware update last night.

The datecode on the printer now shows 20160606.

The update took me by surprise because I was in the middle of a print session.

Is it a real update?  If yes where can I find the notes that this version is not on the driver download page.

    @Robert069,

All the firmware update are directly from the HP Server. They are automatic HP where to connect to the network.

I don't have details of which fixed the update but not yet posted to the customer of the USB. The update last two were to improve the network connection and built-in web server looks like.

You don't have to worry about melware on the printer, as melware is a computer-based software. Can not be installed on printers.  Remember to update the printer firmware are link updateing the BIOS on a computer.

    I hope this helps.

  • HP Laserjet M1217nfw: Cannot update firmware HP Laserjet M1217nfw

I've identified that HP has a newer firmward for my HP LJ M1217nfw.  My config report says that my firmware is 20130912 and the HP site has a 20150405 version.

I found and downloaded the firmware update utility. I have install and send the Firmware. The printer says 'Programming' but then a message appears on the computer saying he cannot communicate with the printer (it was printing fine before you start the process). Finally the LCD screen on the printer returns to the ready, but the config page print still with the old date of the firmware.

What is going on? Is there a way to solve this?

Not too sure, but you you better make sure you do not perform an update of the firmware wireless. You must use a cable.

  • 10.11.4 update failure-unable connect

I have an iMac late 2009 (16 GB of RAM, 2 to HD, DVD player) with 10.11.3 OSX that works perfectly. I tried to upgrade to 10.11.4 unsuccessfully with the update stopping approximately 65% through the update (after downloading OK). Repeated reboots gave the same question. I could also not connect mode without failure.  At this point, I used Time Machine to restore to 10.11.3 successfully (after 12 hours!)

After watching here and Apple forums and not to see problems of update, I tried the following:

    1. Run the Firmware and OSX updates separately in the folder of the update library. Firmware updated to date very well, but when I ran the update, it seemed to fill but to restart the system gets to connect and then stops after entering the password. I tried several times and same result.
    2. Found if I login as a guest, starting system complete OK suggests something incompatible, but I cannot access my boot or a comment folder preferences
    3. Disconnected everything except keyboard and the connection attempt. In the deadlock. Reset the PRAM. No connection
    4. Recovery opportunity do OSX reinstall NET IE OSX 10.11.4 after also runs the diagnosis of disc which was ok. Completed and wedge still connecting system. I noted that Recovery HD on iMac is now 10.11.4. Fortunately, I have a backup of the old Recovery HD on external drive.
    5. Doing another restore from Time Machine to return to 10.11.3

Looking for suggestions for this problem. Otherwise I will probably not be able to make future updates up important and maybe not then.

    Thank you

Please edit your profile to reflect the version of Mac OS X, you have installed. You have a question about your old installation of Mac OS X, then restoring a backup will not help you. I suggest you should do the following:

    1. Restart the computer and after the chime hold down the COMMAND and R until Utilities Menu appears.
    2. Select disk utility, and then click continue.
    3. Select Macintosh HD entry indented in the list to one side.  Click Delete in the toolbar. Set the Type of Format Mac OS Extended journaled on the menu drop down. Click the clear button. Once the process is complete, quit disk utility.
    4. Select reinstall OS X and click on the button continue.

Why do the update of the firmware?
You should do this only if the Vodafone SIM card does not work properly!

I found this info that pop ups before performing a firmware update!

    + Atten-tion of the FW update: +.

+ Please do not forget to read carefully before place the FW. +

+ 1. FW update is not necessary when the Vodafone SIM card works fine in the customer environment s. run the FW update only when the Vodafone SIM card is not detected. Please note that the FW is more reversible to the previous state once updated. +

+ 2. This upgrade tool will apply to the following models with built-in 3G module: +.

    + Portege R400 +.
    + Portege R500 +.
    + Tecra M9 +.

+ 3. Please leave 3G communication and close the connection utility before running the FW update. +

+ 4. Close all applications before you run the FW update. Please DO NOT launch any application during the upgrade process. +

+ 5. Please ensure that you use an AC adapter to power the computer during the process of FW update. Power failure during the upgrade process can lead to failures of 3 G modem. +

+ 6. Please DO NOT sleep/standby extended/Shut Down the computer during the process of FW update. This can lead in mode 3G +.

So please first these points before you is trying to update the firmware!

  • 200 d IOmega IX4 Firmware upgrade failure

    Hello

I have an IX4 - 200 d which I inherited. Initially, it wouldn't boot and display only the symbols of USB stick/network after about 60 seconds.

With some searching on Google, I created a boot disk USB with the firmware updated on this issue. All goes well until the Firmware upgrade begins. I go to the step of (what I assume is) the upgrade of the firmware and it gets 75%, hold for 5 seconds and then the machine stops.

I tried to repeat the update of the firmware with all the drives present, with every other drive in the first slot and with all the disconnected drives. But it seems to behave in the same way.

Is this a known issue? Or could it be a hardware failure?

I'm pretty eager to find a solution - it takes a long time for me to accept defeat.

The only other suggestion that suggested Dr. Google is to start linux and reformat the hard drive?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Pete

    Hi André,.

    This case can be closed.

After the above mentioned procedure eventually work, I didn't know that - ALL readers should be present and formatted during an attempt of USB firmware update / install.

The link again on the forum - http://forum.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=4401

This seems to be the only solution.
