HP Laserjet Pro 400 - M451dw: M451dw "Connect failed" error

I posted this in the wrong forum (oops) so let's try that here.

We just upgraded our router (to a Belkin AC1200 router) and I tried to connect the printer as I did with the old one (press the button on the front of the printer wireless, press the WPS button on the router), but the printer keeps gives me an error "connection failed" and resets everything back to the old settings. I turned off the printer and he turned his back, did not make a difference. I tried to connect via the network settings dialog box to the printer, but I get the same error. I'm doing something in the wrong order, something I can try? I need to get to the top and printing as soon as POSSIBLE. Thank you.

Well, I don't know where you got the idea that the printer and the router must have the same IP, because they shouldn't. Reset the printer to the factory/network settings. Remove all software on the computer. Now completely reinstall the printer from scratch.

This seems to be a problem with the printer driver, so uninstall and reinstall should be attempted.  You can use the latest version of the complete software available for download on the following HP web link:

  • Color HP LaserJet Pro 400 M451dw - error # 49

We have the above printer. It has been working well for a long time now. It is configured with the ethernet cable.

At this time, however, when the main user of the printer turns to for use, he first gets up says 'Ready', opens with the IP address then displays "error 49" "turn." This does not seem to do anything.

I found a post that suggested by ensuring that the printer was not showing in the DHCP, and I do not see here.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. This is a printer that is much used by the primary user.

    Thank you.

49 error usually means a firmware error (which could be due to a problem of trainer), but in some cases, it may be invoked by a sending system a use of "punk" (not necessarily a conventional print job) to the device.

    Thank you very much

I try to pull up the built-in web server (EWS) by entering the IP address of the printer in a browser and set a static IP & DNS address.

The information for the default gateway, subnet mask and IP address can be accessed from the Setup menu on the front panel, go to settings > reports > network summary and it will print off the coast.

Once you entered the IP address in a browser and have the EWS pulled up, go to the tab above titled "Networking". Then click on IPv4 in the left column; who will bring to the top of the address configuration page.  Place the manual radio button and fill in the IP address, the default gateway and the subnet mask with the information from the report. You don't fill the part entitled WINS server, which can be left alone.

You will then want to fill in the DNS of the page part, the favorite should be set to 8.8.8.8 and the alternative/secondary must be set to 8.8.4.4. Then click 'apply '.

Power cycle the printer. Turn off the power, wait 30 seconds and then turn it back on. Once it is fully operational, try again to connect to web services.

  • LaserJet pro 400 m425dn mfp: mfp laserjet pro 400 m425dn will not connect to the network

I just bought a mfp laserjet pro 400 m425dn printer/phtocopier and I can't seem to connect to our network.  I have it plugged into the router and it says "cable disconnected" without an IP address.  I don't have the USB cable to configure the machine and I was hoping to do it via the network (which tells me is an option).  I don't know if that has something to do with it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The printer should be released the box set up using DHCP for addressing.

When plug you it into the router it should pull an IP address, if it is its cable disconnected then you might have a bad port on the router, a bad cable or a bad printer.

Plug something else into the same port with the same cable and see if it works, if you have a defective printer and need to return it and get a replacement.

You may also be able to find someone to replace the trainer who has the network port to it.

I'm trying to connect the HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401w to my Surface tablet running Windows RT.

I tried to put in the IP, wireless sensor and using the USB cable.

He is not with the IP or wireless detection.

With the help of the key USB Cable it things is a CD Rom   If I add a printer and trying to choose manually the printer isn't on the list.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi SydsMom, welcome to the Forums of HP. If a product contains the necessary built in the RT drivers, he just needs to be plugged and RT Windows should recognize and install it.

I did a search for "HP LaserJet Pro 400 M401dw Laser printer" with the: Windows Compatibility Centerand it's Windows RT 8.1 compatible.

Microsoft provides these simple instructions: install a printer in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1

In addition, I'm not familiar with that printer, as it is a business model supported. I suggest posting in the trade forums, to get more input. You can do this HERE.

  • Help! My M475dn MFP HP LaserJet Pro 400 color printer will NOT print!

HP LaserJet Pro 400 color MFP-M475dn-CE863A

Printer on a network and can connect to multiple computers that include: Mac OS X, Windows 7 and Windows XP.

When I try to print from my iMac, the print queue of the printer says "the printer is not connected.  When we try to print from Windows computers, it is in the right queue and does not print.  When I go the printer itself and try to print a page of demonstration or page supplies directly to him, it says on the screen which is printed, but nothing happens.  This is not hum or anything!  The port where the network cable is connected is switched on green that says HP which means that the network cable is connected.  We've had this printer for a year now, and something like that never happened.

I did not have any software or anything like that until this happened.  It was working fine on Saturday when we used it, but when we arrived at work today, he just decided that it would interrupt printing!

I'm puzzled!  I tried 'ping' IP address of the printer from my iMac and it pings fine.  Does anyone have advice?

(I tried to make of the obvious like too switch the printer on and off and shutting the computer down and nothing!)

Okay, so I feel a bit stupid right now.  I decided that I would be closed the printer for about an hour to see if it was there, and what you know-it has been!  I had to turn it off several times before but I guess it wasn't long enough.  What a pain!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this!  Sorry to waste time everyone!

  • MFP HP LaserJet Pro 400 M425dn will not print the text to format 72 points or more

My workplace has recently bought a M425dn of MFP HP LaserJet Pro 400 all-in-one printer. It works perfectly except for the fact that it will not print text that is 72 points or larger in size. I tried many fonts that are installed with Windows, and all them print correctly to the point size 71.5 or smaller; Another thing simply does not appear in prints. Content which is of size to 72 points or more * fact * affect the flow of the content printed on the page, however. It's like the 72 points or larger text takes up space, but it is completely invisible on the printed page.

I tested using Microsoft Word 2002 on three separate computers, of which two have installed Windows 7 and Windows Vista installed. The problem is the same on all three computers. The printer is connected via an ethernet cable to our wired network. I have installed the printer software included, and I don't think that there are updates for it that have not been installed up to this point.

Any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

Hello, I just made an account to solve this problem for you guys because it has been a puzzle to me also...

I apologize before the huge hand for the terrible grammar and punctuation that I'm in a hurry

Now it does not work for everyone but I fixed it on my machine with the following

now before you print it... .use (ctrl + p) in your text editor to open the print window, click (properties), and then navigate to the tab (Advanced) now, I have a section called the characteristics of the printer in this category there is an option to 'send truetype as bitmap' activate this and see if it can help someone of you, for me, with this PERMIT I can print any font size my processor will allow me to type

    in my machine's plug

    Reference Dell d6420

    Win7

    Msoft word 2007

    printer itself is

    HP laserjet 200 color m276

    printer driver is

HP LaserJet 200 color MFP M276 PCL 6

I understand that this printer and driver is not identical to yours in itself, but the nature of these drivers makes it highly likely that this solution works for most of you

If this can help, someone else did post more because I'll probly do not sign in to this site I created this account just for this post and I hope to solve this annoying problem issue for many of you... .no necessary congratulations

  • LaserJet Pro 400 M401n: How to set the margins for binding up and left for LaserJet Pro 400 M401n

I am connected to ePremis (medical site) that allows me to print the selected medical forms. ePremis uses the default printer to print the selected form.  The selected form should be printed on a preprinted form that I load into the tray of the printer.

The problem is that ePremis does not provide an option to set gutter margins and print aligns correctly with my pre-printed form. The print position is a little weak and must also be shifted a little to the left. I need to reduce the high binding margin to move the position of superior print on the page and the left binding margin must also be reduced to move the print a little position to the left so that the printed data will properly align with my pre-printed form.

Since ePremis does not offer an option to set the margins of the gutter, I need to be able to set the margins of the gutter through the printer driver, but there is also no option provided by the printer driver dialog box to set the margins of the gutter.  :-(

Is it possible to set the printer LaserJet Pro 400 gutter margins?  I see the margins left and right options in the driver dialog box printer, but they are grayed out and cannot be changed.

I have another printer, Kyocera laser printer, and I don't have this problem with the Kyocera because it offers the possibility to set gutter margins in the printer driver dialog.  I wonder why the LaserJet Pro 400 does not provide this option?

I perhaps could solve this problem by sending PCL6 commands to the printer before printing?  I'm a programmer and am open to this option if it would work.

Your help would be much appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Setting margins generally depends on demand - but (you say) that your application does not allow this.

Some printers provide functionality of saving images , whereby the position of the image of the page onto a physical sheet can be adjusted to the printer, usually on a basis of by-tray.

For example, with my Laserjet Pro MFP color 400 M475dn, the appropriate menu/menu item is described as follows:

    Note:

    • This setting applies to the bar up this that changed, so will have an impact on all the tasks using the specified status bar.
    • Not all printers support these features - I have no idea if your LaserJet M401 exercises or not.

With regard to the '... sending the commands to the printer before printing... PCL6«» :

    • PCL6 (PCL XL) rather more autonomous than PCL5is, so I'm pretty sure that nothing you can "send" to the device to influence the outcome of the following printing.
    • Even with PCL5 print jobs, standard printer drivers are "overcome and-tail' with universal output language (UEL) escape sequences (which reset the device to the market environment (user - default)), which would be too mount sequences exhaust specific PCL5 previously sent to the device.
  • LaserJet Pro 400 M425dn: Unplugged network Cable

I just bought a printer LaserJet Pro 400 M425dn and tried to set up on my university network. I have a static IP address for the printer. However, no matter how to set up the printer, I see only cable disconnected in the status screen of the network on the touch screen. The cable and the wall socket is working, since I can connect to a computer using their network.

There is no flashing lights, close the network card. Is the printer network card defective?

The network port is part of the trainer so if defective, you need to replace the formatter.  Having said that I had one who wouldn't not connect to the network.  I don't me remember not if the link lights have been turned on or off, but he finished the port has been wired incorrectly.  The pairs have been overturned as a crossover cable, and we have done the same and connected a laptop to the port and it works.  We discovered that the laptop automatically detected the pair reversed and connected.  Not sure if this is your case, but I propose the printer to another location just to see if I get a clear link to another location.  If no link light, then I'm afraid of the trainer will need replacement.

  • LaserJet Pro 400: Watermark not printing on Laserjet Pro 400 on Windows 8

On the computer of Windows 8, watermark does not print on Laserjet Pro 400 connected by USB. Please note: the function watermark works on other printers not HP, as our networked Ricoh copiers. The printer prints a watermark on a Windows 7 computer. Using the driver package LJM351_M451_Series-12200-drv_installer.

Very hard to advise without additional evidence (such as samples).

With my Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit system, I can print watermarks on my LaserJet Pro MFP color 400 M475dn (equivalent of MFP M451) device.

Attached is a zip container file:

    • Small text in the abcde.txt file that contains the text "abcde".
    • Print file abcde.prn contains the print job generated by opening the text file in Notepad and by printing the document (using the driver of HP LJ300-400 color MFP M375-M475 PCL 6 (61.120.5.12262) UPD version 5.3.0.12262), by specifying the "SAMPLE" watermark with the default settings; exit 'captured' by using the option "print to a file.
    • Text file abcde.prn_analysis.txt contains an analysis of the contents of the print queue.
    • PDF file abcde_scan.pdf shows a scan of the printed output by sending the contents of the direct .prn file to the printer port.

Try to send the contents of the .prn file direct to your printer port; for USB connect, you must use something like:

    copy /b abcde.prn \\computer-name\share

in a Windows command prompt session, where:

    the computer name is the name of the workstation;

share is a share of the Windows printer instance name.

The resultant prints show the watermark of the SAMPLE ?

If so, then the printer handles the commands to the printer (in this case using PCL XL) OK.

Can generate something similar to your driver for analysis?

[You will probably need help moderating to attach files in this forum].

  • LaserJet pro 400 drivers for Windows 2000

    I have a m451dn color laserjet pro 400 I have purchassed.

One of the systems in my network is a windows 2000 system that is loaded and set up with many programming tools and so on.

I don't want to break this fine computer running system.

I don't want to have to reload everything in a new system.

Simply because it is old, it seems that HP has decided to does not provide not printer drivers for it.

I connected to the printer on the network, the IP address and tried some older printer drivers.

The printer works fine if I don't have a color.

It would be nice to be able to print in color.

Is there a color driver that is compatible with this printer and Windows 2000?

Now that I have fought through, I have a way to make it work

Select another driver from HP - HP Color Laser Jet 4500 worked for me color

go to the printing preferences - paper quality - check the color

go to priferences print, cocument - advanced - options - select color

go to color management - you may need to add a color here profile

I don't know how this is required, but it works now

I had to fix on the printer through the actual IP address
