HP LaserJet Pro P1606DN compatible w / Airport Express?

I'm going to buy a new Mac Pro and would like to be able to print wireless to a laser printer. I like the HP LaserJet Pro P1606DN, but this isn't a printer wireless, itself.

I understand after talking with a representative from Apple that a printer non - wireless (assuming he has the correct drivers) can be directly connected to the Airport Express Terminal via the USB port, allowing a Mac Pro with an Airport card installed for wireless printing.

So I have two questions:

(1) only the above mentioned HP printer has the correct drivers (or is otherwise compatible) to work with the Airport Express?

(2) will be the configuration that I mentioned above work, assuming that the printer is compatible with the Airport Express?

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions!

It should work perfectly.  Your Mac Pro is not to be connected wireless to your network to make it work, a wired connection works also (unless the Airport Express Terminal will not on your network, but rather just stand-alone).

  • HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn: Fatal error Laserjet p1606dn - hard reset does not help

I powered on my printer this morning and having to "calibrate" - type sounds for about two minutes, the Attention, ready, and go lights on (solid, no blinking). The printer prints everything I have send to it, even test pages. By following the instructions on this page, I did a hard reset by putting off the printer, unplug the power cable, leaving unplugged for about 60 seconds, then in him plugging back in and turning it back on. Same thing: makes noise for a minute or two, then three strong lights.

The printer is on a wired LAN, and I tried printing from two different computers on the network. I tried not to do a direct USB connection yet because this seems irrelevant to the question. The network (10.10.10.x) page shows the status of the printer such as "Printer Error".

FWIW, he showed the same error last week, but a hard reset fixed it on the first try. This time, it does not.

EDIT: If it helps, the date of the firmware is 20120814. I tried to update to 20150114 via the update utility, but he says that he can not find a serial p1600 printer is installed.

EDIT 2: the printer will not even turn on. Tried a few different outlets, power strip directly into the wall vs - nothing. I think he's dead. Based on my experience with HP printers, I'm not surprised.

    Hey @dselzle,

Welcome to the HP forums! I hope you enjoy your stay here.

I understand that you are having problems with turn your Laserjet P1606dn. I can help you with that.

To start, you will want to make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet , not a surge protector. Once's done it, this document will help you with your power problems.

If you are able to turn on the printer, then that's fine. If it doesn't always turn the printer will need to be repaired. You can contact HP by clicking on this link by clicking on the form below.

If this resolves your problems so please let other users know by clicking on accept as Solution next to this post.

I hope this helps and I hope you have a nice day!

ShlomiL, or someone else, can you tell me how to solve this problem?

It seems you might have a hardware problem. Only suggestion I can give is to try a reset of the printer and if this does not resolve the issue of the cost of repairs to the printer will probably be more it is worth. Here are the instructions for resetting. Ready flashing means light the printer is receiving data and if in fact, you do not have the cable network or usb connected and it still flashes, then it's a hardware problem.

    Service mode functions
    Product resets
To restore the factory the product's default settings, follow these steps.
    1. turn off the product.
    2. switch on the product and while it is initializing press on and hold the two buttons on the control panel to the same
time until that all lights blink in unison.

  • Is the Airport Express optical fiber compatible? (Verizon Fios)

Is the Airport Express optical fiber compatible? (Verizon Fios)

Verizon wants me to have one of their routers. Is it necessary if I already have an AirPort Express?

The airport is a router, not a cable modem. Verizon are likely to provide a cable modem that is also a router, and therefore has an entry for the cable and several outputs ethernet; It can also have wifi.

You can probably turn off wifi if you prefer to use the airport; and there is nothing prevents to connect airport entrance to one of Verizon output using its wifi and ethernet ports. As long as it is reasonably recent, it should detect that it is connected to a router and configure properly.

  • Can't play music on the AirPort Express to the iPhone 5 s.  Can of Macbook Pro

Can play music through the AirPort Express using a Macbook Pro and Linksys 11879. Two iPhone 5 see the connection at the airport, but no music. How do we get music using the iPhones?

Given that your MacBook Pro can broadcast to the Express, we know that AirPlay works.

By 'See the connection at the airport' do you mean that the two iPhones can see that both the AirPlay icon in the control center AND can see the Express in its options?

  • HP LaserJet Pro M277dw: HP LaserJet Pro M277dw is not compatible with Vista 64 bit?

    Hello

Please could someone HP please tell me if the scan and printing on HP LaserJet Pro M277dw works on Windows Vista 64-bit? I'm tempted to buy it but was put off by reading threads like http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/LaserJet-Printing/HP-LaserjetPro-M277dw-printer-and-windows-vista-drive...

I have even print or scan wireless I just want to be able to connect through my PC.  I appreciate the thread above is almost a year so wanted to check if HP had supported the question now that I don't want to upgrade my PC either.

    Thank you

    Jimmy

    Hello

The printer is not supported on Windows Vista 64 bit, it is only supported on Vista 32-bit, as indicated by the Requiremetns system below:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-Color-LaserJet-MFP-M277-series/7089945/model/7089949/document/c04515051/

64-bit support is only available for the later versions of OS like 7, 8 or 10.

You can only get the features of the printer using the HP Universal Print Driver for your printer, no alternative is avialable for the OS, which means no Fax or Scan feature is offered by HP for Windows Vista 64-bit.

As a reference, you can see Page 8 of the following user guide:

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04474163

If necessary, you can download and install the HP UPD PCL 6 driver for printing to the printer features:

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/softlib/software13/COL39348/LJ-95981-14/UPD-PCL6-x64-6.2.0.20412.exe

Well that the analysis is not supported by the client for your operating system HP software, you can get limited scanning functionality using the features of digital as Scan to Email or scan to a network folder, such can be defined without the need of any software.

    Kind regards

    Shlomi

  • Airport Express connects to my WiFi bridge

    Hello world

It is searched many Web pages and throughout the Apple support forums, but I still could not understand...

I bought recently Airport Express to extend my Wifi in another room and thus use it for AirPlay. My existing WiFi network is set up by the router, Asus RT - N12 (it is connected to our modem from the vendor to the scale of home - isn't available). I want to my Airport Express to work as bridge, connected to the existing network and to serve as extension and receiver airplay.

It works only when I connect Airport Express via LAN cable to the Asus router and set it as the new network. This is not convenient because it is located near the router and does not provide any additional coverage to our Wifi.

I tried to set up the base Airport Express "Extend existing network." But once set, it REQUIRES connection via cable. To connect to the existing WiFi network, there is NO other choice. This option is missing in the Airpot utility, so I can't select the Wifi to connect to.

In addition, when I connect to the Airport Express Terminal cable to the WAN port (which is our wall of our home modem), you do not find the internet connection for some reason any (while Asus has no question to do).

I'm quite desperate here. I already think to buy Airport Extreme. But I don't know if he will be able to connect to the internet for the same reason. And, it is five times more expensive. Everything else works with Asus without problems and additional parameters. iPhones, iPads, Apple TV, Android phones, Mac Pro, laptops Windows (except old 3G iPhone that says that it cannot connect to the network).

Any ideas where to look for a solution? None of the settings in our modem Asus to allow the airport as bridge recommended? And, above all, WHY is configuring lack the ability to connect to the existing Wifi network and wants to connect via cable ONLY?

    Thank you...

I want to my Airport Express to work as bridge, connected to the existing network and to serve as extension and receiver airplay.

Unfortunately, function of "extend a wireless network" Apple is an exclusive feature that has been designed by Apple for only wireless "extend" the signal of another Apple wireless router.

Or, another way of saying the same thing would be to say that, if you want to extend the wireless network, you will need two routers Apple for this purpose.

In other words, the function 'extend' is not compatible with 3rd party routers, so the only way that you will be able to get the Express at work... or any other router from Apple, incidentally... would do what you did and plug the Express using a wired Ethernet cable connection.  If you cannot run the Ethernet cable, then you can take a look at a pair of Ethernet over Powerline (EOP) adapters to eventually send the signal on power lines the existing AC in your House.

If you only want to use the AirPort Express for AirPlay, it might be possible for the Express to 'join' the wireless network... but the Express won't provide any additional wireless signal coverage by joining a wireless network.

  • 1606dn RT of Windows and LaserJet Pro - does not

HI - HP Windows 8 page info (here), the HP LaserJet Pro 1606dn should be fully supported in Windows RT with a driver in the OS.  However, it does not work.  On my Surface, running Windows RT, when I go to settings to laptop, then peripheral, the 1606dn is listed but it is called "NPIB8D6C3 (HP LaserJet P1606dn Professional)" and below that says "Not compatible with this version of Windows".  I have run Windows Update and there is no update more to have.

I turn on network sharing for my network.  (It's on a home network).

    Any recommendation appreciated.

    Thank you!

Could you please provide3 information items so HP can investigate?

    (1) your LaserJet running what version of Firmware?

Hold button 'go' for 1/2 second, this example shows a configuration page that lists the version of firmware

You can get the latest firmware: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=bi-95182-4&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4132&product=4110410&sw_lang=

    (2) what router are you using?

    (3) what have been the installation steps that allows you to get the print driver?

(should I read you correctly connected your RT to your network, then the printer has shown also available as: "NPIB8D6C3 (HP LaserJet P1606dn Professional)").  You have no other installation steps?

  • The Apple AirPort Express Base Station is a good solution?

I'm moving so leaving the wifi station that Verizon gave me. I think I have the Apple AirPort Express Base Station by station WiFi. I connected an iMac (main computer) MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone.

My main question is how this used for the WiFi base station compares to others on the market.

    Thank you!

    Johnny

The AirPort Express has limited the ability of speed due to its slow and limited capacity wireless Ethernet port due to its very small built in WiFi antennas.

However, if the plan of your new Internet Service Provider (ISP) is limited to about 50 Mbit/s, then the Express would probably be OK if most wireless devices will be located near the AirPort Express Terminal.

If the budget allows, an AirPort Extreme is a much better product... up to 10 times the speed of the Express... with additional WiFi antennas located just above the 'tour' to improve performance.

If your new ISP plan is 100 Mbps or higher, then AirPort Extreme would be a better match.

If you are considering other routers from other manufacturers... we cannot comment at all on their performance without knowing the number of brand and model of the device you are considering.

  • Airport Express in client mode to serve Airport Extreme

    Hi guys,.

I am struggling with Setup in our business that is pretty special. Our cash register, the Bank Terminal and the control system are all serviced by an Airport Extreme that was configured with care by a dedicated company. The extreme is powered via an Ethernet based modem. The basic modem is a box any of the internet service provider in our country that has four ethernet ports and a basic WIFI network that we open for customers. As the basic modem is too far from the extreme, a powerline sitecom was initially used to carry the signal to the modem from basic to the extreme.

But the powerline connection was poor, so they advised me to replace the powerline by an Airport Express in client mode, which converts the client base modem wifi signal ethernet to the WAN port on the extreme. I installed the Express exactly as described by Apple (AirPort Express: how to join an existing client mode - Apple Support Wi - Fi network) and the entire installation ran smooth for about an hour. At a time of seemingly random, all of a sudden the extreme complains that the internet connection is lost. In airport utility, the extreme flashes green, but the internet icon is orange and the notification indicates that the connection is lost. However, the Express flashes green and is always connected to the WIFI which worked again properly, I confirmed. Restart the extreme and Express to solve the problem, but only temporarily. After some time, the extreme complained again that the internet is lost.

Can someone explain what could cause this problem and how to solve? Thanks in advance.

From your description, I guess that the WiFi connection between the base modem and the AirPort Express is where you need to solve problems more far. Looks like that the modem is not a simple modem, but a combination modem and the wireless router, also known as the name of a gateway device.

Nevertheless, the best solution would be to use an Ethernet cable dedicated between the "modem" and the AirPort Extreme. Bypassing the Express all together. The next would be Powerline adapters. I'm a little surprised that those you used works well for you. Unfortunately, the scenario of 'worse' bandwidth performance is what you're doing now is to use the AirPort Express as an Ethernet bridge Wireless Terminal

However, if you have no other choice in the matter, where you then place the Express can make a difference. You want to Express to be in a db 25 + range of report Signal to noise (SNR) of the modem. This will allow the Express maintain a connection compatible with this modem wireless network. To find out how to measure SNR, discover the next Tip of an airport users for details. Please post back your results.
