HP model 15-r015dx: no boot device

I don't have the dist of starting my laptop computer. Where can I download the software so I can burn it to a disk on my PC?  I've been everywhere in the Web site, I'm totally lost.

Jonathan-Bravo

Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your post about needing a boot disk and wanted to help.

Unfortunately, HP provides all the downloads.

If your goal for this is to restore your PC, what you need is something known as HP recovery media.

It is a set of DVD and a CD or a USB key, which will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

You can look online for recovery from the paged media related: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Once there, enter your product name or number. On your software page and download the drivers, select your operating system and version. Click on "Update".  If the HP recovery support is available for your computer, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entty and click on order to press for more details.

Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:

If you live in the United States or the Canada, details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact details are on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: once you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to someone ' one - it can take a while!

Note that if HP no longer provides a recovery media for your model, a few other sites, you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/

Good luck

I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

  • Not found boot device

My laptop won't start. It is said the test of hard drive failure and the found boot device (3f0). I ran tests start, tests and test the hard disk without success. The computer is no longer under warranty. It is a HP mini.

    You are the very welcome.

Please give me the model number full of your mini, so I can watch what size HARD drive you need to buy, if a recovery media is available for purchase and for me to be able to provide the link to the service manual.

Normally, removal and replacement of a hard drive are not too difficult relatively speaking.

I would say that almost everyone can do.  I don't know that much about mini and how disassembly is required to get on the hard drive.

On mobile phones more regular sizes, it is very easy to remove and replace the HARD drive.

Can anyone any sense of the message above?

    Hey Buddy,

This error message means that an incorrect boot order is set and the computer tries to start between LAN port to the internal HARD disk space. It should therefore go into BIOS setup and change the boot order. Put the HARD drive as the first boot device internal.

  • Cannot start by Satellite L850 - no boot device - please reboot

    Hi, can you help me?

I have a toshiba Satellite, win 8, and when I try to start it it shows the message 'check' media (fail) and then shows "no boot device - please restart."

How can I solve this problem?

Unfortunately for these questions there is not some sort of magic bullet. Start your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu. If it works check if there is the option to enter setup. Choose this move down arrow and press ENTER.

If it works, you will see the BIOS settings. On the first page (HAND), check if the HARD drive is listed and recognized correctly.
In any case, use F9 and BIOS to the default settings. After doing this use F10 to save and exit.
Check again please. If the same thing happen over and over again I fear you have professional m need help with this.

    Hello

The HARD drive is recognized in the BIOS? If so, you can start in safe mode?

To be honest, it looks like this drive is defective and so the laptop couldn t start more of the HARD drive. Maybe you need a new and if your laptop is under warranty, you should get a new one free of charge from the ASP.

  • BCA install Win 10 since El Capitan "no boot device found". »

I ran a Boot Camp for Windows 10 installation process using this configuration:

    MacPro3, 1

    El Capitan 10.11.2.

    Win10_1511_English_x64.

    Boot Camp Assistant 6.0.0

I used a flash drive USB 2 for the installation disc.

I modified the plist BCA as shown here:

    http://Tsentas.NET/create-a-Windows-7-or-later-version-install-disk-missing-on-e l-capitan.

BCA works well, downloads support, creates what looks like appropriate on the USB installation files, and then create a MS-DOS (FAT32) partition on a hard disk that is dedicated in an internal Bay. At this point, it seems to be trying to boot from a Windows installation process and rise black screen "no boot device found... etc."

    Any idea whats up?

    Thank you, Bruce T

Create a USB key modifying the Info.plist file does not work? There is a reason that it's missing at first, meaning that your specific model, with an integrated optical drive, needs to use a physical DVD. You can burn a DVD from ISO?

Be aware that a 2008 MP has no W10 driver supported by Apple. A list of Macs Apple officially support it to use 10 Windows on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support .

  • No boot device message on my Satellite P850 - 30 p

    my laptop model is: SATELLITE P850 - 30 p

When I turn on my laptop, it displays the text something very similar as following:

    "Intel UNDI, PXE - 2.1 (build 082)

    For Realtek RTL8101E/8102E PCI - E Ethernet Controller v.105 (071227)

PXE - M0F: Exit PXE ROM
No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key ".

I read that I should try to get into the bios, however, I can't get into the bios. I tried del, esc, f2, f12 (key by default to get into the bios for my laptop) I also tried Fn f2, f12 Fn. None works.

I have tried syndicated harddrive th and th repeat same tests as indicated above, can always not in the bios.

I have also tried to take out the battery and press the Start button for 30 seconds and replace the battery. still no luck.

I also tried to plug in my external hard drive via the port usb but stillthE same messages.

    Could someone please help?

    The F2 key is good!
You have to press F2 to turn on/off the device!

As mentioned by BobRock; Press several times on the line!

In some cases, you will need to press the INS, then F2 to access the BIOS. This is required for some units when supervisor password has been set.

By the way: PXE - E61: Media test failure, check cable message appears because the laptop has attempted to boot from LAN. This usually happens in the case where the HARD disk cannot be found. Mainly because of HARD drive hardware problem

  • Acer Predator 17 G9-791-73 CL - no boot device error

    Hi guys,.

My laptop is an Acer Predator 17

    i76700HQ 2.6

    16 GB OF RAM

    GTX 980M 4 GB

Basically, the new update for windows 10 destroyed my files, nothing did not work properly, I tried to reboot to a restore point that I created (he has not worked as the girls were damaged) I tried to reset, (same thing damaged files) I tried practically all the existing troubleshooting options (F8) but also to reset the default bios (F2) , I unplugged the hard drive, put it back again, nothing worked so I installed windows from a USB pendrive of freeOS, I removed both of C(main one) D (second) partitions and created new ones and I installed the windows, I lie down, installed all the apps and everything was working fine, until I decided to update the BIOS/Firmware with those specified to install for my model of laptop computer on the site Acer

BIOSAcerFixed not able to enter the BIOS configuration without optical media player utility in the [...]1.064.6 MB11/12/2015

The thing is, I installed the new BIOS on UEFI mode and legacy not I don't know if that makes a difference or not, but when the computer laptop restarded, error - no. Bootable Device appears on the screen all of a sudden and it does not further than that, start one and I know not what to do about this I ran tests of hard drive and it works very well, the thing is I am currently on a legacy (in bios) mode and it works very well, I had to change to access my laptop, but the (UEFI mode) does not work for some reason itt continues to show no boot device and I don't know why I tried to reinstall windows again and delete the partitions, but F8 doesn't work on UEFI mode

Any ideas on what I should do?

Also, when I try to install new BIOS, I get the error: the version of the ROM file is not newer than the BIOS.

I'm so stuck right now, this is my first posting of time on a forum for help with a laptop and I got computers/laptops for fifteen years, because I don't want to buy another hard... I tried something on the internet and I can't seem to make it work.

This guy, I really appreciate your help, thank you

for UEFI boot, windows must be installed under UEFI not inherited, because there need an EFI partition and the Manager start windows.

So if you want to UEFI, you must reinstall windows.

do not forget to support bootable USB of re - install windows (under settings of UEFI) must be UEFI compatible, I strongly suggest to use Rufus to create:

    https://Rufus.AKEO.IE/?locale=en_US

define Rufus as the screen on the home page.

  • I have an Acer switch 11... Showing no boot device

All of a sudden while working on my switch 11, he said that he had to stop. Now, I get the message "no boot device" when I try to start. I could put in a USB key which was a recovery disk. . It allows me to go into the Bios. When I try to choose "refresh your PC it says the drive where Windows is installed is locked." When I go into bios and select the information tab, the name of the model of SDS said nothing and there is no serial number. Does this mean that my SSD drive is fried? Is there anything I can try to get a reaction?

It is still under warranty? You can contact Mrs. They will tell you contact Acer.If it is not under warranty,.

If it's only the SSD, it is fairly simple to repair if you are somewhat mechanically inclined. I can help you with that.

I also tested the hold down windows but with the b button and the power up and let go of all keys but the remaining blank screen bios recovery does not pop up. How to return to old bios?

  • PC freeze/crash followed a "Reboot and select proper boot device."

We have 11 PC running on a local area network, all currently running Windows 7 Professional. The following happened in recent weeks, on 4 of our PC 11:

PC freezes completely, however, the mouse cursor will always pass normally, clicking on anything don't generate a result, or will be by pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE. My first step in the fight against that had to leave the PC alone for 5-10 minutes to see if the problem resolved itself. After about 5 minutes, the PC will be closed on its own and try to reset, prompting the message:

"Reboot and select good boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected boot device and press a key.

When you press a key, the message again and again. The only solution I've found that this was a closed hard, leaving it for a minute and restarting, how everything seems fine.

I'm suspicious that this may happen again, or on the PC so far unaffected, if someone could advise on what could be the cause, or how to stop from happening, I would be grateful.

How old are the hard drives on those computers?  Is it possible that they have lack of hard drives?

Download and run the software tester of the drive by the hard drive manufacturer to test the equipment.  Tell us the model numbers (Device Manager), readers and we'll give you links to get the correct software.
