HP Officejet Pro 8600 won't copy

My new HP Officejet Pro 8600 will not copy.  When I hit print I get an error "scanner failure".

I called the HP support by phone as suggested, and they had me unplug the printer, then hold the power button in during 15 seconds, everything disconnected in order to "drain the power."  Once I have it plugged it back in and he began to copy correctly turned on!  Hope this helps someone else with the same question.

    Hi @Wendy-needshelp,.

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support for a solution to your problem copying.

I understand that you use a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Premium e-all-in-one with a computer and Windows 7 when you copy from sometimes flat it will only copy and print 1/8 of the page. I would like to help.

You mentioned having unplugged and replugged the power cord. This is something that could be done. If you can, I reset the power and try to connect the printer directly to a wall outlet, if you currently use a protector or electrical surge extention. Sometimes the surge protectors can limit the amout of the power supplied to the printer.

There was an update firmware released in April, which can help your printer. You can download the update of the firmware and run it from your computer to install it on the printer. You can go to the HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g_n Firmware download page by clicking here.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

Indeed, if this help you to achieve a solution please click the 'accept as Solution' and the 'thumbs up' buttons down below in this message.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 black printing/copying has vertical lines on the page. The color is fine.

HP Officejet Pro 8600.  at 2 weeks.

    Windows XP

Color copies/prints are very good.  Black prints/copies have vertical lines widths, ranging from top to bottom.  This occurs when it is copied to form glass or through the feeder.

    Suggestions?

If the unit is producing lines in copies, so I suggest checking a few things. Make sure that the printer is plugged into a wall outlet directly and not in a surge protector. Additionally, make sure that the glass of the scanner (including the small strip on the left) are clean.

Also, see the steps in the document troubleshooting located here.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8620: Officejet Pro 8620 won't copy. Tried the hard reset suggested in the forum.

Won't copy even if she looks like her do something. Error message reported that incorrect paper size has been used. All other functions seem fine. Just bought.

Odd. If it was the lamp of the scanner, it would happen, but you wouldn't be able to scan. If it was the print head removes you from the copy of the blank pages and not be able to print. It's really a weird question. I sent you something to try out via private message.

If you are unfamiliar with the operation of the function of private messages of the Forum, this post has instructions.

If the steps I sent do not resolve the problem, it will be best to reach out to the hotline. They may have additional options.

  • OfficeJet pro 8600: streaks black copy cover page

When I make a black copy, the page is covered with many black streaks.

    I clean the printer heads.

    Color copies are ok.

Hi @cay1 and welcome to the Forums of HP!

I see that you have problems with the release of your copy.  I would like to help!

I recommend you to remove the printer ink cartridges and perform a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I also recommend this document on the vertical stripes, lines or streaks in the Copies, faxes or Scans

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Nine HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 - when you copy, the picture is poorly marked, even after cleaning.

I just bought the HP product above.  When printing or scanning, there is no problem and the images are clear.

However, when you perform a copy in black, the result is badly streaked.  I cleaned the glass, etc., and it remains striated images.

This is a new printer and avoid any accumulation of residues of the previous use.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: Officejet Pro 8600 won't save scanned document

I've updated to Mac OS Sierra 10.12 and I can't save a document scanned from my office. It scans the document ok, but the "Save" button is grayed out.

I can scan and record directly from the parser.

There is no driver listed on the HP website for 10.12 - the latest driver listed is of 10.1

    Anyone know how to fix?

I have a MacBook, which is still under El Capitan and it works very well as my Mac did until I updated the operating system. I also note that Sierra is not on the list of OS for this post.

Update on my problem - I discovered I can save the scanned document using the Print - command, function.

So I guess this will fix itself when HP to produce a new printer driver for this OS.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 won't print multiple copies

In fact, I had tried the first part of what your recommended yesterday.  But could not remove the software successfully, leading to nothing working. I checked my warranty status and I was still under warranty so I called support directly.  An uninstall 3rd party program was necessary to remove the old software, so I was able to download the latest version you have recommended.

    Thank you for you answer.

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus - ADF scanning problem

    Hello

I recently bought this printer and used without problem for almost 2 months. However, right now I am struggling with the ADF.

When I put a document to scan by ADF, I have a thin, black line on re-impressions. It is on the right side of the page, starts from everything at the top and goes down all the way.

I have even if it is a kind of alignment line (you know when we write try, or its composition, leave us space on both sides)

This problem does not exist when I scan and print documents of old school way, aka analysis usual. Only the ADF documents'ed have this problem a little. (The thin black line on things reprinted)

    Any recommendations?

    Best regards

Update: I did what jason_h suggested in step 1 and it worked, this can be closed:

  • OfficeJet pro 8600 vertical black lines printing when you use the scanner/copier of SMA

I have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus model N911g that I got a year out of warranty. Worked perfectly until this week when I scanned approximately 50 pages through the ADM.  During the process of digitisation of the black vertical lines began to appear on documents that are scanned or print (color or BW) through the ADM.  Scanning or printing directly from the scanner glass is not the problem.

I checked, cleaned and cleaned all (rolls, strip scanning, scanning glass) it is possible via the information provide in these forums from other veins knows on their production lines.  No change...

I unplugged the printer all the network and fax cables and tried scanning or copying with the power of the device, NO CHANGE.  Don't know what the next step might be other than the factory reset (don't have documentation on this process).  Additional suggestions would be appreciated.
