OfficeJet Pro 8600 won't load ink

I just got a new printer for work, but I can't seem to load the ink.  The cartridge will not move enough away to load the ink cartridges.  I tried to restart the printer, nothing helps.  Any suggestions?

Here is a link for a jam in transport.

The trolley can be blocked by something or even locked in and must be adjusted. I hope this link helps. Let me know what happens.

Don't forget to select the media Type in your printer preferences when you go to print the envelope, so the printer knows that he has to wait for the thicker paper of your envelope #10.  This allows the printer the well-positioned rollers and ink and the drying time, too.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 always in color ink

I have 4 computers, printing on this printer and I put printing preferences on all levels of grey: black ink only, yet I am still uses ink of color for a reason any.  All faxes and copies that are made on the machine are in BLACK.  Please help me understand this.  Y at - it a setting I'm missing?

There are a few things to check.  Some ink will be used to keep the "plumbing" and clear print heads.  If you never run cleaning cycles (in the front panel or computer palette) ink will use black and all colors.  If the printer is off of an external switch that will serve the most ink - the printer must always be connected to a live outlet.  Finally, when you automatically print duplex some color ink will be used on the first page to set the ink more quickly so that the ink will not smear when the page is pulled back into the printer.

The document described here how the ink is used.  In the terminology of this document the 8600 Officejet Pro is an IIC printer.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: Officejet Pro 8600 won't save scanned document

I've updated to Mac OS Sierra 10.12 and I can't save a document scanned from my office. It scans the document ok, but the "Save" button is grayed out.

I can scan and record directly from the parser.

There is no driver listed on the HP website for 10.12 - the latest driver listed is of 10.1

    Anyone know how to fix?

I have a MacBook, which is still under El Capitan and it works very well as my Mac did until I updated the operating system. I also note that Sierra is not on the list of OS for this post.

Update on my problem - I discovered I can save the scanned document using the Print - command, function.

So I guess this will fix itself when HP to produce a new printer driver for this OS.

In fact, I had tried the first part of what your recommended yesterday.  But could not remove the software successfully, leading to nothing working. • do I have to buy color ink cartridges? HP Officejet Pro 8600 more Windows XP

    HP Officejet Pro 8600 more

    Windows XP

The printer will not print anything (including black and white which is my default setting), at least that I have installed a new yellow ink cartridge.  He says that the cartridge is exhausted and must be replaced before printing.    I have black and white printing color cartridges? Is there a solution? Thank you very much.

    DavidDavid salvation,

Yes, you will need to replace the yellow cartridge to continue printing. Here's a good explanation of the design of the print mechanism, and what is needed to keep them in good working condition. Your printer is user replaceable print head. With this printer's ink lines that need to be filled in ink in this way that the print head should not be clogged jets in turn cause poor print quality problems.

HP, as other printer manufacturers, offers you with permanent print heads printers requiring ink for all colors, avoid the print heads.  HP, like some other manufacturers, also offers printers with user replaceable print heads.  These may of may not require ink in all colors in print, even though damage may occur if the print from the cartridge empty.  Finally, HP as some other manufacturers also offers printers with the printhead into the ink supply.  He is replaced at each change of cartridge.  These printers will happily print with a diet low, empty or many deleted completely same models.

When you buy your next printer (from HP or from another manufacturer) be sure that you understand what is the type of printer and choose one that fits your needs.

It seems to be a bad printhead, or it needs manually cleaned with water and lint. If these steps do not resolve the problem, contact HP (1800-474-6836) support.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus: I have a top loader of the OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus page works do not?

The top loader will feed is out of paper. He reconizes that he delivers here but it will not feed... making the noise, but do not feed. Can I do to fix? I cleaned the rollers with alcohol.

    Hey @HandymanConnect,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support.

I see that you are having problems with the document feeder in your Officejet Pro 8600 more e-all-in-one printer. I can help you with that.

First, I will mention that the cleaning of the rollers with alcohol has the opposite effect you hope. As the rollers of the printer depends on rough grip on rollers, with alcohol will break the rollers and damage to the printer. Instead, HP recommends to use water to clean the rollers and other components inside the printer.

That said, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done, this document explains How to solve problems of choice with your document feeder.

If after following the above, you are still not able to use the feeder, the printer must be replaced. You can contact the HP Support by clicking on this link and fill out the form below to discuss the options based on your warranty.

Please let me know the results after following the above. If you are unable to resolve your problem, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600: Ink Officejet Pro 8600

According to the "indication of the ink level", magenta was about 10% or 15%, cyan was 0% and yellow was about 95%. " Black is 25%.
I replaced the cyan cartridge and before I can even print a single page, magenta level is reported in 0% and still I can not print.
Can you explain how the magenta level can go from 10% to 0% by simply changing the cyan cartridge? If there is ink in the cartridge magenta before the cyan cartridge has been changed, why are there no ink in the magenta cartridge after that the cyan cartridge has been changed?

    Hey @ellioto,

I see you have some problems with the ink level on your Officejet Pro 8600 e-all-in-one printer. I can help you with that.

What is happening is that the gauges are showing you an approximation of the amount of ink remaining in each cartridge is. When you replaced the cyan, the need to align, printer cartridge that uses ink. At this time then the printer has detected that the magenta cartridge was low. Replacement of the cartridge magenta should clear the error message.

Please let me know if that answers your question. If so, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.
