HP Pavilion 15-N260TX: updated HP Pavilion 15-N260TX.

Hello

I have a HP Pavilion N260TX 15 notebook pc with core i3 4th gen, 500 GB, 4 GB Ram, 2 GB AMD graphics card.

* What is the maximum amount of ram supported for this model? I can it switch to 16 GB?

* Is it possible to upgrade the processor?

Hello

Through 2, 3 page in the Manual:
http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c04438537

Data sheet:http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04159822

Processor is welded on the map, not expandable.

RAM max is 12 GB total according to the manual, but you can upgrade up to 16 gb max after comments from this forum. But only up to 8 gb is necessary if you do not use the system for photo shopping, etc. of video editing.

Get the exact configuration, speed and probably same brand that already installed to get guaranteed compatibility.

I understand that you have done an upgrade of BIOS, but it did not take well to your HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-ab522tx. You said that your laptop is now slow and games and movies are stuttering.

A lot of laptops HP have a HP BIOS restore tool that can recover the BIOS from a previous version and restore the basic features. Please follow the documentation to do a reset of the BIOS.

Have you tried to do a hard reset?

What version of BIOS go you to?

You said that 10 Windows is up-to-date.

Have you tried to use the HP Support Assistant's updates also?

You can try the following steps to reload the factory installed configuration of the BIOS settings:

    1. In the BIOS Setup utility, select the tab out.

    2. Select message Load Setup Defaults.

    3. Select Save Changes and Exit (pressing F5 and the Enter key will also load default configuration).

    4. Press ESC, then press Enter to exit the installation program.

Looking at the HP Pavilion Desktop PC p7-1455 product specificationsand HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - features card mother MSI MS-7778 (Jasmine), the motherboard supports only the following CPU upgrade options:

  • HP Pavilion G7: Laptop suddenly stopped working after applying an update

So I was watching netflix and I got the warning that I had five minutes to shut down the computer or it would be closed himself so that he could catch up. I had done the things in closing and stop it by pressing the power button and in now supported.  Then, I turned on the computer laptop back and he started to update so I zoned out of it and watched something on my phone. While doing so I noticed some type of error message update and do not touch, it's because the last time it happened that just rebooted without the update. However instead he himself off and does not turn around. I tried to hit the buitton of power to reactivate and that did not work. I also tried the suggestions I found on this website to support such as take out the battery and unplug the power adapter to the power source.

  • HP Pavilion dv4-1120br: doubts about the BIOS update for my model with the operating system current instaled.

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-1120br, I know that this model of HP laptop is old, but I instaled the 64 bit of Windows 10 on my machine and saw that my BIOS is version F.30 and the last of them available on the site of HP F.66 has.

The problem is that this model is not suport for Windows 10 because, as I said, is too old. Can I download and run the update of the BIOS for Windows 7 64-bit available in the Web site, or I need to downgrade my OS to Windows 7, update the BIOS and then pass it back to Windows 10?

    Thanks for the help!

    Cantarino

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

Your second proposal is correct - as the updates to the BIOS on the HP site are specific to the OS version and if you try to run one for Win7 in Win10, it will refuse to run.

    Good luck

  • HP Pavilion a1129n: what I can and do I update Windows 10 on my HP Pavilion?

I have a HP Pavilion a1129n that has been improved and now has hard drives of 279 179 & 6.71 GB (without total en 316) and 4 GB of RAM. I am using a DELL E2011H monitor. Do you think I should switch to 10 Windows in Windows 7?

Does anyone know if there is what I can do to solve this problem and get the free update for Windows 10 (before it's too late) without it taking much time or money? Thank you.

    Rob_E

Sorry that person to return to you earlier on this subject...

I've been out for a while and only just now saw this. do not know why no one else has answered you.

Anyway... my advice would be DO NOT upgrade to Win10.  You have a really old video chipset and there is no new Win10 driver for it, that would have relegated you to something that Microsoft calls a basic graphics card, which means you would get low resolution and poor performance.

In addition, lack of HP Win10 drivers for your other hardware could very well make other functions turnine, as well.

Older PCs simply did not succeed well with the upgrade - but at least you gave on this subject in advance and do not end with a trashed PC - what happened to me!

  • Pavilion 500 215 el: audio problem Windows 10 anniversary update

I have an audio problem, then before moving to Windows 10 or the update of the anniversary of the audio working properly after the update I noticed immediately that the sound is distorted or "crunches".
I haven't identified the problem because it's random, very often and it's very annoying, my sound system is its IDT DTS + I tried to reinstall the drivers with the latest version but some of the problem persists...
Only, I noticed that the problem is more 'feel' when the bass setting is higher or when I change the audio setting to my taste.
I ask you to help also became very boring because without my custom settings is really horrible!
    Thank you.
Sorry for the English, but this isn't my mother tongue, I used google translator.

    Hi there @Alexcpp,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!  I understand that, after the update of Windows 10 anniversary, you had some sound problems.  I'm happy to give you a helping hand with this.

Check the support page for your model of HP Pavilion 500-215el desktop PC, there don't seem to be updated drivers, and you have already tried to reinstall existing ones.

You can always try to use the HP Support Assistant, HP PCs - using HP Support Assistant (Windows 10, 8, 7) to see if there is a driver available that is not displayed on the support page. It is unlikely, but there is always a chance that the page has not yet updated.

Another possibility is to make some adjustments on your system, just in case there is another driver or software that interferes with the audio, which could cause problems of lag. You can try the search, even if these: computers HP - computer is slow (10 Windows), HP - slow Internet troubleshooting (10, 8 Windows) computers.  They are never a waste of time because often there is something that could help the overall performance of the system.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

  • Pavilion H8J91EA #ABU: failed to update BIOS on H8J91EA #ABU

Has had a major disaster last night.

Tried to update the BIOS on a Pavilion H8J91EA #ABU failed; Displays the boot block update message (or something like that - don't remember exactly) message stayed on the screen for centuries and then blacked out.  Now, the machine seems totally dead.  I tried the method of recovery of bios key 'Windws-key' and 'B' without result.

Does anyone know if this feature is supported on the #ABU H8J91EA

    Thank you

    It sort!

After failing to install the new BIOS understandable machine does not start.

The option Windows key & B to retrieve the original BIOS is supported on this model but would not work.

If you leave the machine off for a few hours the BIOS recovery works fine the first time try you it. but once the BIOS has loaded the system was unable to restart to complete the installation. Returning to the State where you cannot call the BIOS recovery feature and the machine is completely dead.

    Solution in my case was...

    • Power down machine
    • Leave for a few hours
    • Turn on, all holding the key windows and 'B '.
    • Wait for the BIOS recovery to start and release the keys.
    • Answer all questions and wait for the reboot to start.
    • If it does not start, turn the machine off and leave for a few hours.
    • Turn on the machine, and with a little luck, the boot will continue.
    • Answer any questions that you are asked, and wait.
    • Breathe a sigh of relief...

I hope it's useful to someone.

  • 14 - n204sf Pavilion: Pavilion 14-204sf has an AMD graphics card but driver update for a nVidia

Hi, in my attempts to find a solution to my problem with the current for my Pavilion 14-n204sf graphics driver, I found on the web from the list of available drivers HP site in which the graphics driver is a Nvidia card in the machine is an AMD Radeon 8670 M as shown in the master database and reported in the control panel of the machine. What is the reason for this discrepancy? Do both adapters use the same driver or is this just a mistake - and in this case, where is the Radeon driver?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi @jlb21,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

I understand that you upgraded your system to Windows 10 now looking a driver updated for the AMD Radeon 8670 M and there is not a list on the page of software and the driver for your model.

If this does not work, you can try to install a driver on the AMD website, but can find that you do not get the same options as before.

Drivers + download - drivers & Support AMD Center

You may consider contacting HP support for assistance or perform recovery to factory.

HP computers - performing a recovery of HP (Windows 8) system

If you decide that option and that you don't create recovery media, you can get a kit of HP support recovery.

    Hello:

There is no graphics removable/replaceable/extendable 'cards' in your noteobook.

(GPU) graphics cards, are chips that are welded and their circuit integrated on the motherboard.

The only way to update the graph on your laptop would be to replace the motherboard.

But as the graphical installation program has your laptop is the best that HP offered for this model, there is no motherboards available with better graphics.

  • Pavilion a6220n: updated my BIOS after Windows 7 is already installed

    Hello.

I bought an a6220n Pavilion in 2008 because he was very progressive.  In 2010, I updated the video card with an ATI Radeon 4770 and upgraded to 4 GB of RAM.

Recently, I backed up all my stuff and restored the computer to factory settings.  I installed 8 GB of RAM. Then I started Windows 7-64 bits of an installation disc.

So now Windows 7-64 bit is up and running.  I think so.  Internet seems to be very slow.   It recognizes the 8 GB of RAM and video card, video card driver, and other system drivers are up to date.

I want to spend my CPU to a Core 2 Duo E8600 3.33 Ghz, but in order to do this, I'll probably have to update my BIOS.   But when I try to update my BIOS Installer tells me this:
