HP Pavilion 15 p258nl: caddy

You don't want to put an SSD inside a box of optical drive. The interface is slower than for the hard drive and the speed of the SSD will be lost. If you want to just add the extra pure storage then get a standard mechanical hard drive to put in such a device. You will get more storage for a lot less money. You should also understand that the disc in the optical housing will not be bootable.

This is the part number for the optical drive:

762503 001

When we're looking for we can see that it is 9.5 mm if you need an adapter of 9.5 mm optical drive Bay.

  • Problems installing iTunes on Windows 10 12.3.1.23

    Hello

I had this problem for two weeks, I don't know how to solve, and it would be good to have help.

Two weeks ago, I noticed that after I had plugged my iPhone into my PC 5, only Windows Explorer recognized iTunes didn't.

So I tried to see if there were updates for iTunes, but no update has been published.

I used Windows 10 tools to uninstall it and then tried to install it again.

Before that, I used CCleaner to make sure that no left, files or old registry key remained in Windows.

Then I tried to install iTunes 12.3.1.23 by downloading from the Apple Web site and by opening the Setup program.

Since then, every time, when I try to install iTunes, installation work until it says "Restore action", and a new mask appears, where it is written that there is a problem and that Setup could not install the software.

After trying this for 3 - 4 times, I went to C:\Users\MYUSER\AppData\Local\Apple\Apple Software Update and tried to run all executable files in this folder, which contains installers for each program, Apple needs to install iTunes on PC separatelly, distinguished by the installation program downloaded by the Apple because one website you can download contains all the facilities of programs in a single installer.

I managed to install all the software, with the exception of the Apple Mobile Device Support (version 9.1.0.6), who, as program controls when a unit Apple is plugged to the PC, and it has not worked since the beginning and is the one who made me do all this, in my view, is the same as the one send me problems during the installation of iTunes when I run the installation program downloaded by the Apple Web site.

Anyone have the same problem and/or know how to fix this problem?

    I have 10 Home Windows (64-bit) version 1511.

  • Alternative HDD/SSD cable connection?

Recently, I made a post here who need both a caddy and an extension cable for my laptop HP Pavilion 4180-United States.

I got answers for everything that I need, but for the cable, he says that he is-22 units in stock and will not ship new orders until the end of February.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-hardware/Pavilion-4180us-SSD-Caddy/m-p/1218837#M63893

Could someone help me please to find an alternative to this cable, much obliged.

I had a quick glance through your other thread and your cable and hard drive caddy will work for the new SSD. If you want to use your old hard drive you can simply connect through a hard disk USB storage enclosure.

    http://www.vantecusa.com/front/product/view_detail/272

If you need a cable for the second hard drive Bay, NewmodeUS has in stock, but you must buy the caddy too.

The entire thread is kind of confusion about what you are really after.

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&products_id=345

    Here is one of NewmodeUS.

If you buy your Crucial SSD, they have a kit to transfer your operating system on the new drive. There are several ways to move the operating system or preferably a clean install on your new drive and then you can simply transfer your personal affairs on the use of the external hard drive caddy.

  • Caddy for HP Pavilion 15 n034ca HARD drive

    Hello

Not sure this is the right place to post this, but I just bought the laptop that you can see in the title and want to continue using the HARD drive I had in the old laptop that died (Asus ROG, who died after only 2.5 years of use and yes I have cut down a lot on the specifications they were no longer necessary). The only problem is that searching the Internet I can't find media for which I could replace the optical drive with this laptop.

Anyone of you guys know where to find these?

    Thank you!

    Morning

It is not apear to be any mention of a Multibay expansion for this machine, you can try looking for an external USB caddy kit fot it, they are relitively inexpensive and available from most computer stores

    Thank you

  • 2nd drive HARD drive caddy optical Bay - Pavilion dv6700

    Hello world

I hope someone here can help with that, because I'm out of ideas...

I've recently updated the primary drive of my laptop dv6700 (dv6820es) with an SSD. I did a new install of Win_7_32 and there is no problem at all.

But this record is not that great, so I decided to plug in the SATA HARD disk-old through the optical drive Bay in order to have the storage capacity. For this, I ordered a SATA-to-PATA caddy that fits perfectly.

The big problem now is to make this combination of work:

    • Behavior of the BIOS: it is difficult to say if the BIOS detects the drive properly, as long as this model of the BIOS is pretty poor in the configuration/information options. In any case, when I press F9 with the 2nd HARD drive plugged in, a new startup option appears as well as the SSD and is listed as "7. Notebook hard drive. The HARD drive is spinning too. Because of what I guess that the BIOS detects, at least, 'something' (but again, I can't tell if the HARD drive as it is or just some unknown decive). Moreover, the BIOS is updated to the latest available version: l58 A.
    • Behavior of Windows: for what I can see, Windows behaves as if the reader was not there. Nothing in the "Device Manager" and nothing in the "Disk Manager", just the SSD drive is detected. With one exception, in one of the restarts a lot I did the player that presented themselves. The usual text bubble said 'installation disk... ". ", and apparently it installed fine. After installation, there was this new IDE drive "" under "Drives" in the "Windows Device Manager". Well, it seems to work! But unfortunately, I've seen my hopes be disappointed in the next step, when you try to initialize the drive through the "Disk Manager". First of all, it took a long time (like 4-5 minutes) with the program that 'think', finally launch one of these errors of the infamous 'cyclic redundancy. I rebooted, but the player was not there yet. And he never showed up again, just this time.

Sad thing is that I can't tell what makes the difference. I updated some things like the drivers of Intel chip, Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver (not really necessary, I suppose, but just in case)... throughout this process. But in fact nothing in particular time it almost worked.

My ATA drivers are the most recent available for my chipset AHCI. Is there a driver I'm missing? Is there an impossibility for the 2nd HDD (PATA) to work with the SSD works in AHCI mode?

Well, I think it's all (sorry for the long post). Maybe someone has endured/solved a similar problem.

    Please share your knowledge

    Ana wrote:

    Hi Erico,

Sorry for the confusion of information.

The HARD drive is a SATA drive and the optical drive is a PATA drive, so I used a caddy SATA-PATA. Something like that:

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=226

(Although the one I ordered is not the manufacturer)

Whereas, although the HARD drive is a SATA drive, it should be detected as a PATA one. Is it possible to make interfaces SATA AHCI as PATA work together? Is not in this case. Need a motherboard very ethusiast and advanced BIOS level.

[Edit: the chipset is, moreover, of the Mobile Intel 965 Express Family.]

Perhaps that the liaison has a cable better than purchased translation Setup. A lot of people seem to be satisfied with it.

The physical connection of hard disks must be of the same type for the reason that I expressed in my previous post, unless there is a translation of the work cable between SATA and PATA.

If your laptop has a double drive Bay and you have installed the drive in the Bay with a caddy and cable SATA cononector it would be simple.

  • HP Pavilion 15-au006tx: HP Pavilion au006tx-15 m2 SSD update possible?

    Hello guys,.

I plan to buy the HP Pavilion 15-au006tx. Wanted to know if it has a m2 Slot to add a SSD Boot?

    -Jenson

We get this question a lot of things and right now I can't anyone buying a HP laptop with the idea of adding a player m2 to him when he does not comes with a counselor. There are a few long discussions here, which seems to have concluded that on some models the M.2 port is disabled in the BIOS, and another showed that a model that shows a m2 slot in the Service Manual actually has such without crack.

    See p. 34 of repair:

    Manual

According to this manual that you can have a WSSD m2 or a hard drive because it refers to a jury of DSS and cable. It is also clear that if you can use a WSSD m2, you are limited to the SATA variety, which has no advantage of speed on a 2.5 not inches SATA SSD. I would buy it, because the specifications are very good and redeem the 1 TB 5400 RPM HARD 1 TB SATA III SSD drive and so 1 TB is not enough storage to you consider putting the 1 TB HARD drive in a caddy optical. Who uses our days DVD player, anyway?

  • HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-f250: new SSD not recognized, Pavilion 17 AMD drivers

    Hello

I bought the laptop (HP Pavilion Notebook 17-f250) on September 2015 and this September 2016, I decided to upgrade with a 2nd SSD.

I bought a caddy, placed my SAMSUNG EVO 850 PRO inside, removed the optical drive and then place the CART inside the laptop. It fit perfectly, no problem there.

But Windows does not recognize it at all in MANAGEMENT OF DISKS.

It is not here in order to format it, etc...

My IDE/SATA appears as "AMD SATA CONTROLLER".

I can not find anywhere no possibility of enablev AHCI etc... My BIOS is not an option to check if the AHCI drivers are enabled or not.

With the AUTOMATIC DETECTION is my driver: AMD APU A4-6210 with graphics AMD RADEON R3.

My operating system is WINDOWS 10.

FYI, I bought another same SSD for my office and worked smoothly. I only have a problem with my laptop, and I can't figure out how to recognize the Windows SSD!

    BR,

    Dionisis

What caddy you bought? There are a lot of these on the market and some are not made with the highest quality control. You may have it tested with another hard drive?

Second, the interface for the optical drive is SATA which is ahci. The drivers are not the issue.

Finally, put an SSD in an optical drive is a little excessive spending from one optical drive interface is slower, so the speed of SSDS is wasted. It would be much better to put a regular hard drive large, slow in the optical Bay for storage. Having an SSD in there won't be fast in all directions. Also, a disc in an optical Bay will not be initiated.

It's a HP Pavilion dv7-6010eo. Currently it has 500 GB SATA (7200 RPM), you can switch to the SSD. You can also put a second HDD of your machine, but you need to caddy and connector. Please visit the following link:

  • HP Pavilion dv6-7024tx Enterta: possibity to add internal storage?

Hi, I have a HP Pavilion dv6-7024tx Entertainment Notebook PC that has the storage capacity of 750 GB inside inside. I would ask the expert to see if I can add some more storage in my notebook.

    Hello

The machine has no room for a second HDD. You can replace the 750Go to say 1 TB or 2 TB even, but from my observations lager (capacity) will slow machines down a bit even under Windows/Explorer Windows. For me, 750Go is too, a lot of my laptops have only 256 GB to 500 GB. I store photos, funds, songs, on external HARD drive with and I can't move them easily.

In any case, if you wish.

    (a) swap HDD with a (larger) HARD drive and you can simply clone the existing to a new one.

    (b) remove the ODD (optical disc drive - IE the CD/DVD drive) and use a truck to shelter the second HDD. For example:

  • Question of replacement HP Pavilion M6 HD

The HD in my Pavilion M6 is a failure; I want to replace it with something faster. Specifically, I'm looking at the Seagate 1 TB Solid State Hybrid Drive SATA 6 GB/s 64 MB Cache 2.5 ST1000LM014. Will this work for my laptop?

I have replaced hundreds of hard drives of laptop and these questions are overthinking the issue, but there is no such thing as a bad question so I answer. Your computer has a GB/s SATA-III 6.0 interface. There is no maximum capacity. You can install any player portable SATA not thicker than 9.5 mm market, which I think are now available up to 2 TB. The original drive is 9.5 mm but 7 mm drives have SATA connectors and mounting holes in the same task and will run just below in the caddy. 7 mm discs works perfectly. You are looking at is 9.5 mm same as the original drive. The only problem is with thin ultrabooks which can take only 7mm readers; 9.5 will not match those. And finally, yes you can use an SSD and if you're inclined to spend premium dollars, I highly recommend it, but that you have chosen is a hybrid that is faster than a mechanical drive standard and not much more expensive.
