HP Pavilion 17-e020us: updates from HP Pavilion 17-e020us (processor / SSD)

Hello

I wonder what the best SSD and processor upgrades are for my 17-e020us HP Pavilion Notebook PC.  The specifications of the device are here.   I would like to the SSD and the processor both to be Intel.  I'm looking for upgrades that would make my fastest PC.

The SSD should be around 500 GB (480 GB is fine) to 600 GB.

I was looking at this processor and this SSD; are they compatible with my laptop?

A big thank you to everyone who helps me with this.

Here is the Service Manual:

Repair manuals

Models with processor i3 - 3110M have the CPU that is soldered to the motherboard, which excludes an upgrade unless the card mother set is replaced, and need you a motherboard, the processor and the heat sink and if you buy those that you might as well buy a new laptop. .

Intel SSD will work but good grief it is more than 3 times the price per GB of SSD standard in the market.

I suggest a Samsung Evo 850 and a version of 500 gig of this model is $149.99 on amazon.com with the first delivery.

See page 49 for instructions to remove the hard drive and replacing it with an SSD.

  • Pavilion g6-1d21dx: no luck update Pavilion g6-1d21dx to SSD

I tried to replace the hard drive in my g6-1d21dx with a SSD Pavilion before enjoying the free update of Windows 10. I installed the drive (a unit of SanDisk Extreme 480 GB that I had sat unopened for a while) and then used my recovery discs for Windows 7 on SSD. The process seemed to go very well - he went through all the discs five recovery, restarted from the SSD and began the installation process. Soon, I got an error message "restoration incomplete" well. So much for that. (The HP Recovery Manager also gave me this incredibly helpful explanation: "there could be unexpected reboot phase Specialize in BBV1.) ("The process will cause panic CTO because the image might not be normal") on the reset, I also had an error message about ntoskrnl.exe is damaged or missing.

I put the original back drive computer to and updated from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on this drive, just to get the license Windows 10 (it was the last day to get the free upgrade). I also used Windows 10 media creation tool to create a Windows 10 installation DVD. Then, I put the SDS back to and I tried to install Windows 10 using the DVD. I tried several times, but the installation has always fails. I got error messages like "Windows could not set the offline locale information. "Error code: 0x80FE0000" and "we could not format the selected partition. [Error: 0 x 8070057]. "I've also had this a few times:"Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows cannot read the selected drive. Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Windows has no determine if this disc and his parents have the necessary driver support. »

This computer isn't all what age - it is possible that the BIOS does not support the SSD? I updated the BIOS of the SSD, but that has not solved the problem. I also made sure the BIOS of the computer is up to date.

Thanks in advance for any relevant information.

Here are the conclusions that I have reached after spending a lot of time on this project to upgrade:

At the beginning of this thread, what you advised me strongly to clone my old hard drive instead of trying a new install of Windows 10 on my SSD. I recommend the contrary unless your system works perfectly with your old hard drive, because this way, you can leave the system, the software and the data files on your old hard drive intact in case you go account you have to go back and check on something or you decide to abandon the upgrade. I found that there is no mystery to a cleaning only install on an SSD, as long your SSD is compatible with your computer. I had updated my old HDD from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and after this upgrade, I was getting other error messages every time, I started the computer (inaccessible_boot_device, unexpected_store_exception and kernel_data_input_error). Since there are so many problems on my old HDD, I have probably restores it to Windows 7 so I can always, in case I ever need to refer to my old configuration. Web sites said that once that Windows 10 has been enabled on your computer, future Windows 10 installs on the computer is automatically turned on, even if you have restored the machine to Windows 7 or Windows 8.

If you try a new installation, make sure that you do so with an attached network cable. It makes a huge difference for me. A clean install without a connected network cable has led to all sorts of problems, including a lack of access to the Internet and some devices are not installed correctly. When I did a clean install with an attached network cable, all of my devices have been installed automatically. This includes the Synaptics touchpad, the HP wireless button, the AMD Radeon graphics card and the Realtek card reader. I didn't need to install whatever it is myself, and the Device Manager does not display the unknown devices. Wireless network connected during installation, even my Wi - Fi was not usable during or after installation.

One final note: my g6 Pavilion is 64-bit capable, but I installed 32-bit Windows 10 on it, because I use an old software running under Windows 64-bit 10. So far, 32-bit Windows 10 seems to work very well.

The computer crashes and I can not use it for something else. On the HP updates screen, I put updates on 'NEVER', but that did not work.  The programs always run. In the Windows Task Manager window, the program is called "Agent updates from HP".

I find nothing on this problem in the base of support.

How can I disable the Agent updates from HP running?

Select your Start button, in the search box type 'msconfig' then msconfig.exe under programs.

Look under the tabs "Services" and "Boot". Uncheck update HP agent, select 'Apply' and close.

    Hi Ron,

    Try the following.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type msconfig and press to enter.  In the System Configuration window, select the Startup tab and Remove the check mark next to the HP update agent.  Click apply and then click Ok to save the changes and restart the PC for this change to take effect.

  • Updates from HP.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close

I get this message every time I start the desktop computer, and I'm afraid that I can't receive full updates from HP.   I have a HP Pavilion m7680y desktop computer.   How can I do this prompt go away?

    Hello Siberhusk,

There is a program that starts when your computer starts. The start-up is managed by MSCONFIG. You will need to isolate the program that generated the message before finding the solution.

To place your computer in a clean boot state... instructions available here
    http://goo.GL/w3KQH

Once in a clean boot, see if the problem still occurs.

If not then start programs turning under a little bit at a time until you isoliez what program to launch at startup generates the error.

What is the maximum ram I can put in Pavilion 15N with processor AMD RADEON?

    Hello.

The capacity is 16 GB maximum supported RAM in this model, you can go ahead and update if you want to.

In addition, you can take a look at the technical details of your laptop and follow the steps to change the RAM:

  • Upgrade HP Pavilion DV6T-6100 processor

I currently have a HP Pavilion DV6T-6100 with the 2GB Radeon switchable graphics card and an i7-2630QM processor. I watched the maintenance manual and the best processor I can update is the i7-2820QM. When I bought this machine, there was only the 2nd gen available i7s.

Would it not possible to upgrade for a 3rd gen i7 processor? Specifically, the i7-3820QM? They have the same power of dissipation, and it would be much faster than if I switch to just the i7-2820QM.

No, I'm not 100% certain, but certain to 99%.

More 3rd generation processors require Intel 7 as the 3820 series chipset.

Your a Intel 6 series chipset.

There is no revision of BIOS listed on the support page and the driver of your laptop that adds support for any Intel 3rd generation of processor.

You can also read the info on the link below which lists the supported processors with the chipset of your notebook can operate.

Now, this list seems very important to me, and the BIOS of your laptop would have to have all the firmware for the processors listed, which I doubt, he does.

In any case, you won't see the i7-3820QM among the long list of processors, they say, are supported in the HM65 chipset.

HP decides which processors will work in what specifications and built the BIOS accordingly.

    http://www.CPU-upgrade.com/MB-Intel _ (chipsets) HM65_Express.html

To be sure, I'd install only one of the supported processors listed in the service manual for your model.

The only time where I go against that advice is if a BIOS update adds support for the latest processors are not not in the service manual, and it lists the new processors that will be supported by the update.

Podcast app is not updating from iTunes

Saying "Podcast is available on IOS - only to get Podcasts search app store for your IOS device.

I use 3 (new ipad, IOS 9.3.2) iPad and iTunes for windows 12.4.1.6

How to solve it? Thank you

Ignore the update, Podcasts is built into iOS 9, you can't update built-in apps on your iPad (except through iOS updates). (It's show due to: remove the built-in apps from the home screen on your device iOS with iOS beta 10 - Apple Support)

If you have not all devices running older versions of iOS (or if you do, if you do not use Podcasts on them), you could remove the application from the My Apps from your iTunes library section so that the "update" to disappear.

I must say from my experience, this time with a Toshiba Satellite is less satisfactory, always goes into hibernation and is difficult to restart, even after updating the BIOS suggested!

    Hello Wan

And what model of laptop you have exactly?

I'm sorry, but how understanding your problem anyway, he can't remember what you did. Who knows what you do with your laptop. All other problems can be caused by your experiences and to do something to change the configuration of the operating system.

In this case I recommend a radical, but for you, the best solution: back up all your data and install the OS by using recovery media delivered. I'm sure with the factory settings everything works well again.

I can't get Firefox Beta 5 to check the updates using an account without administrator privileges. Hello

First of all you must only update the BIOS if you have serious problems, and if you know that the update will solve the problem.
Second, the wrong BIOS or the procedure may damage the laptop!
Well, if you use the windows automatically update and if you update applications of Anti virus if you are on the right side.
