  The SMART error would certainly indicate the hard drive is faulty and should be replaced.  The first thing you can do is to back up all your personal files etc as soon as you can.

The vehicle currently has 1x4Go pc3 10600 ddr3 sodimm micron s 1333 mhz in and I want to move to 8 GB which tells me is the most it can manage.   Thank you for your kind cooperation.

  After the other pure full install win 8 and diligently do all the updates and patches. And verification of the latest drivers for Windows 8.  Everything works great.  Then came victory 8.1 installation update of the windows store.  No luck. Same problem as before. Windows 8.1 will not work. He went into "Recovery screen. It seems that windows has not loaded correctly"once AGAIN.

  Chatted with the technology from Microsoft that has managed to take control of my laptop. He ran a scan to find corrupted system files. 100% OK.   My activation key has been authorized.  He has tried several things but was unable to start correctly in windows. The second Microsoft technology repeated the same tests, but it also seemed perplexed.  Why it run ok with 8 victory, but not with the victory. 8.1 (only in safe mode)

  I asked if it was possible that when windows 8.1 updates, he would check for the latest drivers and load a new video driver that is not compatible with this laptop. Possible.

  Then I disabled the graphics card in the device (in safe mode) Manager.  Restarted the computer and windows 8.1 came to life, with no error message. But in lower resolution.  Windows find no driver loads a generic driver of the weak reference that worked. Then I went to the web site of the graphics card and downloaded the "Windows 8" driver!   Windows 8.1 NOT THE MOST CURRENT driver. Of course, the latest video driver will not work with this laptop. The next earlier version seems to work very well.

• HP Pavilion dv7 LM726AV: upgrade Windows 10 problem

  Running Windows 7 Edition Home Premium SP1 update.  Try to upgrade to Windows 10.  Never received 10 Windows icon in the taskbar.  Downloaded the file "GetWindows10" several times by going with HP Support Assistant and directly to the web page of MS Windows 10.  (Both lead to the same web page.)  When I double click on the file GetWindows10 it brings up a window asking if I want to run it.  I click on "Run" and it will immediately without doing anything.  No message on what could be the problem.  (I've already installed Windows 10 on laptop Dell woman with no problems.)  Because this Windows 7 came with my HP laptop, is there something different that prevents Windows 10 from loading?  Or any other suggestions?

  Thank you very much it worked very well.  I write what happened in case someone else has this problem and reads this.  I went on the website of Windows 10 you recommended which was different from the one that I had been responsible for front.  This one also had a button for Windows 10 so I tried that first.  You download a file "GetWindows10" which was different from that of the other site.  However, he had the same results: she did nothing.  So, I went back on the site to create a DVD that you recommended.  I clicked on the tool of creation of media upload you a file to the media tool.  Opening this file has two options.  We want to install 10 Windows on this computer, and the other was to create a file that will be used on other computers.  I assumed it was just an option to download different ISO on DVD files.  I clicked on the installation of 10 Windows on this computer option and he proceeded to download Windows 10 and install it on the computer without the creation of a DVD.  He worked mainly as clicking the icon of Windows 10 that my wife had on his cell phone.  Why the "GetWindows10" file did not work and this process worked very well took place are a mystery to me.

  You just bought a dv7-4170us. When you run a standard movie dvd with the power supply cord is plugged in, the video will be frozen for a second images. Also, a static sound second half will be heard through the speakers when it's plugged in. When running on batteries the problem isn't here.  Went to Staples where we tried a similar model and it had the same problem. Believe that there is a "Major" problem with the AC adapter. System works fine on Battery Pack

  Yes 120W is correct, I'm asking because we had a few laptops shipped to us with bad food so I thought maybe that your problem was similar.  However since you just bought this I would certainly contact HP because the machine is under warranty and ask them to send you a replacement AC adapter / CC.
