HP Pavilion dv7-7010us issues

I am the owner of a shop of I.T. services and buy a

HP Pavilion dv7-7010us for a client.  I have two concerns:

1 > I guess, based on other specifications (DDR3 and USB3), that this model has a HDD SATA3, but I would like clarification.

2 > I intend to clone and replace the stock with a new SSD HARD drive. I would like to know if this might void your warranty for all other hardware.

Thank you

It supports SATA 6 GB/s.

No, the warranty is not cancelled by changing the hard drive.  When you call in for repair or the support of the security that they require usually send you the original disc or install it if it comes down to it.

    Hello!
As shown in the topic, I'm looking for the maximum memory allocation for my new HP Pavilion dv7-7010us notebook.

I am aware that my computer has two memory slots filled a 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM and a 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM.
If anyone could also tell me the perfect combination of chip (2 x 4 GB, 2x16GB, etc.) to get the maximum memory allocation, that would be much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Pavilion dv7-6c60us: issue of replacement to the Pavilion dv7-6c60us cooling fan

Hi, so I was very sick, and having a TON of medical procedures made and until they are made my phone is my lifeline and my entertainment, etc.  So a few months back I started getting the dreaded cooling fan error 90 b at random, but now it's every time you start, I built workstations for 3D animation and editing of film/TV (which I do) from scratch and I replaced my previous laptop motherboard Dell, but it's been a while and I'm mixes returns on the research of some saying that it is easy to just replace the fan, pop the switch out, replace it and you are made to these step by step guides, saying: he basically have to go all the way to the motherboard to replace just the fan.  I wanted to just go straight to the horses mouth so to speak and know, because given my health unstable and "convalescent" until I got better in VERY VERY RURAL NC it is now a doubtful 'authorized repair shop' which is little far from me, I wonder if it is only involved should I just let - keeping in mind , I have medical bills piling up and a lot of know how myself, but maybe not the stamina, or should I hard outside - year how "hard" is to just replace the fan.  The left side of the laptop last week became really hot to the touch, whereas before there were 90 b but there was no significant difference and the unit still works, and that's all that I have here PC / computer wise and cannot not simply run out and purchase all replacement until after I'm better that might be 4 months or more? Help?

Replace a fan in a book involves a complete disassembly of the laptop.

If you don't have the patience and thoroughness to disassemble and reassemble then the laptop to a State because of your physical condition, I would recommend having a shop to do it for you. Consider cloning hard drive to a storage device before you leave the shop to have it.

HP Pavilion dv7-7010us (HP Product Page)
    Windows 7, 64-bit

I want to install a new game on my computer and the game launcher.exe told me there's an update for my video drivers. For some reason, I can't get updated driver from HP Web site directly and not AMD (which, on a side note, is a bit confusing to me know why). After seeing how many updates are available for my computer (here), I decided to update many of them. Here is a list of the updates I have downloaded and installed.

That said, at the end of all updates and all the restarting of the past, I boot my laptop and notice the lack of opening of a session of his. Looking at the system tray, there is, indeed, a mini icon 'X' on the volume icon. With the mouse hovering over him, he bed "no Audio output device is enabled" by clicking on it, the computer tries to set up the problem and the problem it finds is the following: "Audio device is disabled."

That's about the extent of my knowledge of what is happening.
Looking in the Device Manager, under "Audio, video and game controllers", there are three elements that follows:
    AMD High Definition Audio Device
    CyberLink WebCam driver virtual
    IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

Hello. Sorry for my English. I'm from the Ukraine.

I want to improve my HP Pavilion dv7-4150er and I need advice from experienced people.

    Now, I have:

    -8 GB of RAM (2 x 4 GB),

-1 TB of HDD (5400 RPM)

-stock video (Mobility Radeon hd 5650 graphics card) card overclocked to 700 MHz GPU and 950 MHz Vram.

-CPU (mobile Quad Core Intel Core i7-720QM, 1716 MHz) in stock

    -BIOS F.29

    2 problems:

    -Slow CPU

    -Slow HARD drive

I want to buy a few HARD drives SSD for Windows and secondary soft and left for the data.

Get an increase in the performance of the system?

On the 'Intel' site, I read that my

    Intel® HM55 Express Chipset Mobile

is compatible with the more powerful processors. LINK

    And I have a great opportunity to buy Intel® Core™ i7-940XM processor Extreme Edition (8 M Cache, 2.13 GHz)

    But the laptop manual says:

720QM and 940xm - identical processors. The difference in 'MAX TDP' 45w/55w, 'Cache' 6 mb / 8 mb and clock speed 1.6 GHz/2.13 GHz

The Intel® Core™ i7-940XM processor Extreme Edition (8 M Cache, 2.13) will work properly in my laptop?

    or not?

I have read many articles on this topic, but the answer is not...

And I can't find information on HP F.29 BIOS specification.

How can I increase a CPU nested way (with another compatible processor) perfomance if 940xm is not compatible?

    Help me please.

    Thank you for your time.

Hello nickiblackmore.  I understand that you are curious about the upgrade of your laptop.

Here is a link to Guide of Service and Maintenance of your laptop.  It covers the disassembly of the laptop and can also show you how to replace parts if you upgrade the.

If you switch to a Solid State Drive of a standard 5400 or 7200 RPM hard drive, you should see a significant performance increase.  This is because a normal hard drive spinning platters and it takes time to locate data on the trays as they are moving.  A Solid State Drive has no moving parts and therefor can locate data much more quickly.

A CPU upgrade is a much more difficult question.  HP does not recommend that you perform this type of upgrade.  Laptops are generally designed with specific thermal and electrical needs.  If you change the CPU, it will probably create more heat and use a higher power that will cause you problems.  However, if you stick to a processor that is listed in the service (for example in your picture) Guide, you should be fine.  For example, you can choose one of the microprocessors found in the image to upgrade your laptop.  Also, keep in mind that the integral part upgrade as a CPU can affect your warranty (check your warranty here).

If you think that answers your question be sure to mark the post as solved.  This makes it easier for others to find answers to their questions.

    Have a great day!

  • Pavilion DV7-3165DX, Atheros AR9285 WiFi adapter, communication and incompatibility issues

After much research, I decided to buy a Pavilion DV7-3065DX. Then, I walked to my local Best Buy to say the 3065DX had been abandoned and was no longer available for purchase. However, the 3165DX, his successor had arrived and was very similar to the previous generation. After a brief discussion to justify the increase of prices with myself, I gave and was sold.

Within hours, I was in College, trying to connect to the WiFi network without success. After several hours becoming more and more frustrated, I decided to call it closes unexpectedly. Rushing home after class, I plugged the new Linksys WRT160N, I had also bought wireless router and configured on my desk. Once completed, I tried to connect using the new Pavilion. To my surprise, it worked! (And no problem whatsoever no less). So, apparently, the wireless adapter works, but does so only on some networks.

A week later, I tried to connect to a number of public and private WiFi networks of different types with limited success. Most importantly, I am able to connect to my home network, but not to the public networks in my college or city libraries. At one point, the Office for my college indicated that my WiFi adapter is one of a handful of cards on the list of incompatible devices to their network. As it was to buy the laptop in the first place, I am extremely frustrated.

I turned to the support pages of HP for a solution. I considered a update driver despite the use of the HP Wizard to keep abreast on all software downloads and updates. To my dismay, product for the Pavilion DV7-3165DX page lists of Broadcom WiFi adapter, which does not correspond to my hardware (Atheros AR9285). What's worse, is that the manufacturer's website offers no driver downloads to customers that its site is adapted directly to product manufacturers.

At this point, I'm increased and not sure what to do. I am already attached to this laptop. Apart from the war with his fingerprints on its black and shiny chrome surfaces shiny, the problem with the Atheros WiFi card is the only problem that I had. I hate having to go through the ordeal to return, and I do not think that this problem requires the sending of the product to HP for repair. Furthermore, I believe that if it came down to one of those, I simply return the product and find my way to another product by other manufacturers in total.

This certainly isn't the experience I had hoped with my first purchase of HP.

    Any suggestions?

I have the same question... However with me the solution wasn't in the pilot. I spent 3 hours on the phone with technical support, try to understand.

What it comes down to say that Atheros AR 9285 is a shi * ty wireless card. It supports 802.11n Protocol, but only 2.4 GHz (the same as the b/g frequencies). My Cysco wireless router was broadcasting 5 GHz Wireless-N and AR 9285 was not able to detect it. Once I changed the router settings to allow 2.4 GHz Wireless-N Networking, the Atheros card was able to connect under the Protocol N. However, the maximum speeds of 2.4 GHz card are slower than 5 GHz card.

I wish they would give an option to choose what wireless card to install in my laptop. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. I'm always done what they me screwed on.

  • issues update HP pavilion dv7 - 6157cl

Currently, I own a hp pavilion dv7 - 6157cl and want to upgrade my memory of 8 GB and the least 1 TB HD. I tell myself that I'll do when I tear apart my laptop apart to replace the cooling fan (strange though - I have a Compaq laptop (which is supposed to be a lower end of the line of HP, but it is more more than 3 years old and the fan is still going strong and even a much older and lower end bridge without any problem of fan - go figure!).) I upgraded my card from a G to a Compaq Wireless N and learned that HP/Compaq white lists for some parts that would allow only some manufactures parts to use. Is this true also for memory and hard drives?

As the memory goes - what are the specs (I know they are DDR3) but what is the specs of the speed of the memory being used. Being that it's 6 GB I assume that there is a 4 and 2 GB key installed, but as I went through the standard to which it is faster to have the two sticks of memory, the same capacity and speed. I also imagine that extra memory would also improve the part of graphics memory graphics system.

I'm also going to replace the HD 640GO at least a 1 TB drive - is there a good program to clone the internal drive to use a bigger as a replacement direct without having to reinstall. The cloning process would be simplified that currently buy external USB 3.0 drives 2.5 inches is less expensive than buying discs from barebones (a 2.5 drive "1 TB Seagate can.) I guess if I had a 2 external to partition 2 will I go 1 TB but the way in which the external 2 TB 2.5 "anime it would be worth the cost.

Finally - these questions are there some made for memory and the HD which are in the 'white list' that can be used. Any information would be appreciated.

The allow list does that wireless. I could bore you with the details, but it has to do with not applicable to anything else the FCC regulations. You can use any hard drive and memory of compatible configuration and specifications.

  • HP Pavilion dv7: unable to connect to the Internet

I can't access the Internet via ethernet or wireless. It seemed to happen after an update of Windows 10.

Other computer and android phone can access the wireless. When I click on the wireless icon, I see different networks, including mine. However, it is said, "No Internet, secure." I ran a diagnosis, saying that the wireless network adapter and the wired network adapter does not work. I tried to update the drivers, but to no avail.

  • Pavilion dv7: no internet after resetting the computer

I don't know if I am posting this in the right advice.  I had to do a reset on my Pavilion dv7 laptop, kept my personal files, but now I can't access the Internet.  It shows that I am connected to my wireless network, but I can't go to all the websites that I go into my browser.  I went to Device Manager and went to network adapters.  I can say that the driver works fine and I don't see the warnings or errors on other drivers in Device Manager.  I am at a loss of what to so any help would be appreciated.

    Hey @Esoxdiver,

I understand that you are experiencing you encounter some difficulties to connect your laptop in WiFi and I want to help.

Here is a list of steps that solve common problems with wireless connectivity.

First of all, we have a step by step guide to guide you through the process of diagnosis here:
Troubleshooting your wireless network and Internet access

A second option is to try the following steps:
    Network power cycle:
    1. turn off your laptop.
    2. unplug the power to your router.
    3. disconnect the power to your modem.
    4. wait at least 45 seconds.
5 reconnect the modem and wait for it to come back online.
6 plug in the router and wait for it to come back online.
    7. turn on your laptop and test your connection.

Turn off the power to the adapter:
    1. open Device Manager. (Win Key + R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
    2. expand the network adapters.
    3. right click on the Ethernet adapter / wireless, and then click Properties.
    4. click on the power management tab.
5 remove the check mark next to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. click on OK.
    7 test cycle.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

It can also help to reset the winsock catalog:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes, and then press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

    Reinstall the NIC drivers:
    1. download the drivers from here , but do not run them again.
    2. go to your Start menu/screen and type Device Manager.
    3. expand network adapters.
    4. right click on the wireless adapter and choose uninstall.
5 install the drivers downloaded in step 1.
    6. restart your PC and test.

    Test an Ethernet connection:
Explicit. Test if the problem persists on a wired connection to the adapter hardware troubleshooting wireless can be directed to the appropriate areas.

    Test another connection:
Many people excluded their home network as a problem if another device working on the same network. Networking is not as simple as that. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to exclude the settings for this device until the laptop has been tested on another network.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, try this document published by Microsoft for network management issues: wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the document.

The above steps are presented by @Great-Christine-Tree

I hope this helps. If so, please hit the Thumbs Up and accept as a Solution.

    See you soon,.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 button walk / stop does not

Hi, I recently had my Hp Pavilion dv7-1245dx Entertainment Notebook (to the best of my knowledge bc, I can't look it up in my product number) fixed some viruses and malware that caused random stops and freezes. My laptop worked fine after that the fix so I installed the latest updates to better protect my laptop but when I left and my laptop came into fashion 'sleep' it would not respond and the screen was black. I stopped using the power button and it turned back. The computer does not start and the flash caps lock button three times which means a problem of memory, according to HP support, that happened before I got my laptop fixed. Later, I unplugged the AC adapter and moved my laptop but when I tried to put it on the power button does not respond and I can't do anything with my laptop. Both recommended options for the issue of cap locks and the power button is to go inside my laptop and tinkering with the battery and the memory module. I'm very hesitant to do so for fear of further harm to my laptop. I am on Windows 7 and advice on what I should do would be greatly appreciated. (will give you more information if necessary)

    With respect,

    ACertainGuy

Your notebokdoes have removable covers for the module of memory in the bottom of the laptop. It's just as shown in the document I linked.

You will need to buy a Jewelers screwdriver set.  A jewellers Phillips scredriver is necessary.

Here is a link to a documentthat explains the flashing LED error codes and what they mean.

The only other option, if you do not have enough confidence to do it yourself, is to take your laptop in a shop that will do it for you.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6135dx: windows 7 resettled after upgrading Windows 10

    Hello

I bought my computer in 2011 at Bestbuy. In this computer factory settings had various applications, HP, HP Recovery manager, etc.

Recently, last week my computer was attacked by malware and therefore, I had to restore my computer by using the recovery HP (Rebecca.exe) Manager. Meanwhile, windows offered to updgrade to 10 Windows. My computer is compatible, and that's why I decided to upgrade. Unfortunately, Windows 10 did not work too well with my computer, and so I contacted Windows Support team. They have reinstalled Windows 10 in my machine and remove the function back to Windows 7.

Support of Windows 10 team could not solve the problems in my computer. I then asked to downgrade to windows 7. With their downgrading to Windows 7, I had to get all the drivers to make my computer function again. However, I do not have original HP and Applications settings my computer had when I first bought the computer.

Is it possible to install all the parameters of HP and Apps? I tried to install HP Recovery Manager, however, when I do, it says "Softpaq does not apply to the system, no installed HP Manager."

Help, please! My computer is running slowly. What should I do?

    ramirez_adolfo

The best way to make your PC work again in Win7 is to do a factory restore using the HP recovery media.

It is a set of DVD and a CD or a USB key, which will erase the hard drive (removing all data, applications and settings, reinstall the original OS, drivers and utilities for HP. In some cases, you will be able to order a USB instead of discs.  You must order at HP; they cannot be downloaded.

It's the HP for your PC product page: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-dv7-6100-Entertainment-Notebook-PC-series/5082216/model/5118973

Down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for the command Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click on the symbol '+' to expand this entry and click on order to press for more details.

Don't forget to read through the material in the linked thread before attempting the recovery: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00707939

    Good luck
