HP Pavilion m9340f using Seagate ST3000DM001 SATA 3 to disk BIOS sees as 800 GB

I bought a 3 TB drive SATA internal Seagate ST3000DM001.
When I installed in the case the bios sees as 800 GB, not 3000 GB.

I have the last m9340f bios HP installed and updates of windows drivers.

Ok. Then, you are faced with a limitation in the BIOS. In the BIOS of the motherboards of the generation of your PC, not disks formatted as GPT are not recognized nor this capability. Any less than 2.2 TB sata drive should work without problem.

This means that you have run out of options when trying to get your SATA3 4 TB HDD recognized as a 4 TB HDD. I have not read no work around to the old motherboard BIOS to date. There has also not been any utility provided by the manufacturers of hard disk to make the readers of backward compatibility with earlier versions of BIOS of generation.

Best regards

I need to start MS back on a cd on my Pavilion m9340f, but the iso image, I found (win98) does not contain drivers for the cd on my machine drive, so even if the back starts, I can't access it from the cdrom. I need a version of a MS-DOS boot image that contains the drivers for my cd drive (I think it's a toshiba).

HP didn't provide records to start MS-DOS CD for computers or provide support for MS-DOS on newer systems.

I've done a few "FreeDOS" boot disks for different firmware updates, etc. - and often you need to load a separate CDROM device driver for CDROMs of SATA and IDE CDROMS. (as well as a redirector).   It is not always clear pilot who works and who will not.  Also - FreeDOS CD-ROM media is unstable.  I saw a couple of optical drives that I could not recognized on device CDROM ALL driver I could find for FreeDOS.

If you are rolling your own, or search on the internet - I would try to find one with a CDROM SATA as well as an IDE device driver generic one.   But - no guarantee...

  • Pavilion m9340f crashes with a blue screen error. Windows 7 Ultimate 64

Running Windows 7 on my computer of Pavilion m9340f, I lived occasional crashes 'blue screen '. To try to solve the problem, I inserted carelessly the original Windows 7 DVD in the drive of the computer, thought could be used to repair the problem, or "reboot" of the software. What has resulted, it was that the newly installed Windows 7 was found to be "not a copy genuine Windows" and would not allow me to use the features of the operating system.  I was then told to format the hard drive of my computer, I did, and I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate, which now has been accepted as authentic. Initially, the computer seems to work normally, but BlueScreen crashes became more frequent, occurring almost every time I used the computer. I run HP Diagnostics that shows no problem. I have eliminated most of the software programs that could cause a conflict. I am running, currently: Norton 360 first Edition, Microsoft Word 2010 and Google Chrome - one of them could be the cause of the conflict? Please advise on possible solutions. Thank you!

    Steve N.

    Hi Steve,.

Try to delete (see below) everything except a strip of Ram in the computer and then see if it will work normally.  If this is the case, add another stick in and try again - as soon as the blue screen events happen, you will know that the last stick of ram you have installed is the problem.

If the PC bluescreens yet with one stick of RAM, try the same stick, but in a different location - if it works OK now, this may indicate that the location of memory has failed.  If there's some bluescreens, remove the Ram and try the process above with a different memory module.

Let me know the result of this.

must use xp 9 + GB of my disk space?

I have a laptop xp with only 14G of storage, I got rid of all the temporary files (etc.) suggested.
    Not useful defragmentation.
Is there just something buried in the Windows folder that I do not see who eats up to 9 GB? There is nothing that big when I look at the C: drive.
    If yes how I remove?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Windows Installer folder can sometimes grow out of control.  Do not delete files manually form the install file, you can use msizap.exe G!  to remove orphaned files install.  See here:

  • Replacement 250 GB C: drive in Dell Optiplex GX 620 with WD 750 GB SATA drive by cloning. BIOS sees the drive, Windows XP does not work.

I have 5 Dell Optiplex GX 620 desktop computers.  All are about 5 years old.  Had a hard drive failure so I replace the disks C: by secondary SATA disk cloning, disk 1 in the bios.  BIOS sees drive when Windows XP on two systems and not on the other three.  Have no idea why.  All rooms have all the updates of Windows and Dell. A bought WD Caviar Green drives.  WD has replaced three with Caviar Black readers and still does not work.

Level 2 support WD had response which was to creat Acronis True Image WD Edition BACK boot CD for the windows version of the software, (that I downloaded on www.wdc.com), boot to a CD and had the disc I cloned then.  I wish only the support level 1 guy was aware of this utility.

  • Can I use my Windows 7 Edition recovery disks Home Premium for a clean install on my old Windows XP computer?

Hello world!  I hope someone can help.

Can I use my Windows 7 Edition recovery disks Home Premium for a clean install on my old Windows XP computer?

If this is a recovery from a different computer disk, you are unable to do so.

In addition, if you were to format the computer, you will need to have a way to reinstall a copy of Windows with a genuine license.

The best option if you need Windows 7 Home Premium is to buy a genuine license then you can make a custom (new installation).

Where can I still get Windows 7?

  • Using the store of data on disk: what is the relationship?

So on some of my servers, I have a warning flag on the use of the data store on disk.  I have a data store that is 99.50 G, 80,43 provisioned and 19.07 free.  My question is what is the capacity: free space ratio?

From a performance point of view, I don't know, I would say it depends more of PAHO are / s that occur on your space of storage rather than on the actual place.

From a point of view provisioned thin / thick if you slim available on the total amount that you have available to you will need to check you can't close to exceed the space actually available.

Just a data store normal, is considered normally between 20-25% free take snapshots of the account being opened during backups / repetitions (or being left pending if someone has forgot about them!)

    Hope this helps,

  • HP Pavilion s5570t desktop computer: single SATA hard drive configured as RAID in BIOS

Our small computer lab has two offices of Pavilion Slimline s5570t that we have recently upgraded to Windows 10. I noticed that in the configuration of the BIOS for the SATA hard drive, it is defined as RAID. I don't know why. The thing that brought this to my attention, is that the software Intel Rapid storage technology constantly shows about 25% CPU use and there high usage of the disk when computers start first which makes them unusable until the software installs.

My question is can I change the setting of the BIOS SATA AHCI with no problems and that will solve the problem? The Intel rapid storage technology software version is v9.5.7.1002. It is obviously old and I could update, but I wonder if the real issue is the BIOS setting.

    Thank you

    JohnD

Thank you for the additional information.

I'm not sure it tells you, but I changed these settings without having to reinstall the operating system.  I suppose it could be correct.

  • HP PAVILION G6 - 1326SA Slipstream drivers SATA

    Hello

I have a laptop HP PAVILION G6-1326SA and I am trying to install Windows XP on it. I really have to!

    I used this guide:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and/SATA-drivers-for-XP-solution-on-0x000000...

From what I can see in the Device Manager windows 7 I have an AMD sata controller.

After you have created a boot with nlite image, I can confirm that the following files have been added to the image:

    \I386\NLDRV\001\AHCIX86.CA_

    \I386\NLDRV\001\AHCIX86. IN2

    \I386\NLDRV\001\AHCIX86. SY_

However, if I press F6 at the beginning of installation xp, I can't beyond this message:

'Installation cannot find a drive on your computer to load oem drivers.

If I continue without loading the drivers I get only a blue screen.

At the end of this guide, he said:

"When AMD SATA drivers that are presented in the guide not working for then start you ' new message ' on our forum to ask for other Sata drivers."

So can you please help me? I'm doing something wrong or do I need other drivers?

    Thank you!

    There must be an answer.

    I got one for you.

You have to try different drivers.

I prefer the method F6 to install using a USB FDD when I install the Intel AHCI drivers and put drivers on a floppy disk.

Try to extract this file, wake them drivers and see if you have any success.

You need match the hardware ID on controller AMD SATA to your laptop to a driver file which includes the same hardware ID.

I would also add that HP has no obligation whatsoever to support any other operating system on one consumer PC other than what he has delivered with.

Accordingly, those who wish to deviate from the operating system supported, are legitimately on their own to do, but cannot and should not expect any support from the manufacturer.

If it was so important for you to have XP on your PC, then you should have bought a professional HP laptop where it is has supported for older operating systems.

Don't you think that any other PC manufacturer offers support for XP on their consumption of current model of PC?

    If you do, think again.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea - SSD SATA III HARD disk? & HARD drive space gone?

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion DV6 6053ea. It works fairly well, but I think I have an SSD would really speed up the loading of programs and start etc. I'm not so sure that the upgrade. I read on a thread if I had Port SATA 1 6 Gbps Supported or SATA Port 0 6 Gbps then my cell phone was good for SATA III. Is this the case? Joined a program hwinfo32 image, can you check if my phone would support SATA III?

The other issue is my HD. My laptop says I have 750GB HD coming to about 700 GB after formatting. But my laptop seems to have only a total of 350 GB with all sectors added together. Where is the space?

    Hello

Yes, your laptop has 2 ports SATA 6 GB/s (SATA III) most likely the hard drive and an optical drive are connected on it. There are also 2 SATA 3Gbps ports but not in use, I guess.

The other issue is that there are 4 partitions but the partition 0 is strange and shouldn't be there. There should be a small boot for Windows partition (for BitLocker etc.), drive C: with Windows, D: drive with a partition recovery and partition Tools HP QuickWeb and some diagnostic utilities. It seems that the recovery partition is missing, the C: drive has been decreased and then created a small partition at the beginning of the hard disk. Take a look at disk management in administrative tools in the control panel this partitioning is on the hard drive.
