HP pavilion p 15-153 nm: HARD - SSD drive

Hi, I have hp pavilion 15 p - 153 nm and I want to know can I replace optical drive (CD/DVD) with an additional hard disk if I use

CD/DVD optical drive Bay.

Manual:

15 - p100 manual series

The optical drive is fairly easy to remove. See page 77. Hard drive not so much. See page 105. Opening access to the hard drive put security at risk.

The optical drive is 9.5 mm if you need a STRANGE ultraslim for HARD drive like this adapter:

A low-cost 1 TB drive for pure storage:

Can I add an SSD to this topic?

Yes. On this model the M.2 slot is present on models with an i7 and a graphics chip dedicated according to the maintenance manual.

    See page 2

However, the manual is very vague as to the location and access to the m2 slot.

Others have posted pictures and it seems that the manual does not and you don't need to remove and return on the motherboard for access. The location is right above the drive Bay hard see p. 35.

So you can add a module to the WSSD m2 for your laptop, sometimes called a hard "gumstick" disc

  • Conversion HARD SSD drive on MBP 2010, need to program

I have a 17 "middle MBP 2010 and in the process of conversion of SSD HARD drive.  I use the latest version of Mac OS X.  What program is recommended to mirror, for the SSD HARD drive image before installing? Or should I simply to reinstall all the programs instead, and then add the data?  A problem, I think that I have on this last approach is that I have many books in iBooks who came not through iTunes, and I see no way to export the data.  Are there times or saving strategies that I use in this business, the question of iBooks and the whole process of frustration?

To install an SSD in a MBP is fundamentally no different from a HARD classic disc.  Format the SSD drive in disk utility > erase to Mac OS extended (journaled) and then copy the HDD to the SSD.  I recommend to use Carbon Copy Cloner for data transfer.  It copies everything. including the OSX and the recovery partition.

    Ciao.

If the laptop supports solid state drive (or even hybrid), I couldn't find in the user manual that the SSD is supported.  If this is not the case, he will support a hybrid?

  • HP 15 Notebook PC: HARD SSD drive, and can my laptops support more ram

I want to change this (HDD) for a

    Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5 "SSD

Is that a good choice, my budget is less than £80.

Also can I have an upgrade of RAM, my processor States the max is 8 GB, but I saw some processor be able to handle more than its limit.

Here is a link to the service manual for your model, the 15-r160sa:

    Manual

Study this carefully. See p. 59. In order to access the hard drive, you must remove the entire cover. There is no easy access panel. You want to endanger the guarantee, but yes, the hard drive can be replaced with an SSD and that you have chosen is in my opinion, the best on the market.

With respect to memory, your laptop uses the Intel® Pentium® N3540, which is a "Bay Trail" processor. This means a few things. First of all, see page 2 of the Manual:

1 or 2 customer accessible/upgradable memory module slots (depending on model) 2 slots: DDR3L - 1600 MHz Dual Channel Support (Core processors) 1 location: DDR3 1333 MHz Dual Channel Support (DDR3L 1600 retrograde to the DDR3-1333) (Trail Bay processors)

So there is a slot of memory in your laptop and most it can take is 8 GB. Also, the memory is still harder to get than the hard drive. demanding the withdrawal of the motherboard.

Please post back with any additional questions.

  • Is it easy to change HARD SSD drive on Acer TravelMate P246-M - 53T 2 14 "Laptop?

Interested by Acer TravelMate P246-M - 53T 2 14 "Lpatop and that you want to upgrade to an SSD, it is simple to swap the disks or the hard drive built into the Board of Directors?

Any information on this would be appreciated.

    Thank you

It should be a regular SATA HDD and exchanges with a SATA SSD. I can't find guides to do this on a TravelMate P246-M - T 53, 2. Unless it has a door down to access the HARD disk and memory, you probably need to remove everything down. To the Acers you can take all the screws on the bottom and gently, she jump off and some will be tied down, so much, be careful of who and static damage electronics.

I don't like about backing up files, I'll use as an external HARD drive. Also I have the apu a4 4300 m and would like to get 10 4600 m cpu is this hard to replace or should I pay someone? Thanks for the support

    That's what you have:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03551667

    It is the repair:

    Manual

From the outset I see that you only have 2 GB of RAM. Very easy and inexpensive to spend at least 4 GB. See page 46.

The motherboard is the motherboard. There is no upgrade available. However, you have the CPU AMD A4 and you might fall into a 10 - 4600M. See page 83. It would be a major update and only would no treatment faster, but would provide a slightly better video chip since it is a "APU" with processor and video on the same chip.

Finally, you can exchange the mechanical drive to a SSD drive. The upgrade of the speed would be very noticeable.

That @banhien meant, however, the cost of this can equal or exceed a new laptop. and almost certainly will if you need to pay a technician to do it. The first update I is the RAM, then the SSD and then the last would be the CPU. If you need any help post more come back.

  • Pavilion g7 1070US: installation of new SSD

I'm helping a friend with a HP Pavilion g7 1070US laptop. His original hard drive crashed and we bought a PNY 960 GB SSD drive to replace its old WD 500 GB. We were able to restore his old Win 7 because while trying to create a USB startup device the MS site says our OEM license. So we bought a new Win 10 license with a USB and when you try to start the message; "Core security check failed" appears, and the computer restarts then cycling in the same message. I tried to boot from another key USB and DVD ROM created by MS media creator but the same warning message appearing.

Later we have formatted the drive outside the laptop with a SATA adapter.  Reset us the BIOS by default. The drive is recognized by the internal BIOS diagnostic and test memory was also executed.  Both pass.  However, whenever a start is attempted the system responds with a BSOD and the message; "The verification of the security kernel failure".  All the world is facing a situation difficult always. I even bought an old copy of Win 7 Home edition and the installation CD has the same problem.

    Any suggestions...

  • HP Pavilion 15-p211ne: upgrade to ssd drive

    Hello

I recently bought a new HP Pavilion 15-p211ne and I want to replace the optical drive with ssd drive, I have the following questions:
1 should I put the SSD as a secondary drive and reinstall windows, or it must be primary?
    2. What is the right size: 9.5 mm Universal SATA 2nd disc HARD SSD Hard Drive Caddy for CD / DVD-ROM optical Bay or 12.7 mm
    3. is there an official Universal SATA drive 2nd HARD SSD Caddy drive for CD / DVD-ROM optical Bay of HP, and is it safe to install no hp caddy on my new laptop computer.

    Kind regards

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

It is a 9.5 mm optical drive. See page 63 for removal instructions. You can use any optical drive SATA 9.5 mm hard drive adapter tray. HP is no 'official' part, so you must use a version of alternative, and they are widely available. Try jacobsparts.com.

However, the SATA interface for the optical drive is slower and will not support booting from the hard disk into the adapter. So I advise you not to put a SSD in one of these adapters because it will not run at full speed.

The optimal configuration is an SSD as main boot drive and a mechanical drive in pure storage adapter.

Unfortunately, access to the hard drive inside the laptop is a little difficult and potentially void the warranty if you mess up anything in the process. The manual contains instructions to access the hard disk (p. 88), and these videos show the removal of the top cover (on a closely related model) which is the hardest part:

  • Installation internal SSD drive and storage of documents on external hard drive

    Hello!

I have an older iMac and I want to speed it up by installing a SSD drive.  Currently, my internal hard drive has 2 TB of storage, and I don't want to pay for one SSD of this size.  I consider the use of an external drive for my files and using the SSD internal applications and the operating system.  Can this work?  What is the internal SSD of minimum size I should get, more or less, according to my number of apps?   The documents will open at a decent speed?   It is up to me to use an external hard drive with a Firewire instead of USB connection?  Thank you!

    Hi Dan:

Apps it really depends how much you use and what types of data you want to keep in vs SSD HARD drive.

120-128 GB SSD: USD price: 60-70 price range.

for 250/256 GB SSD: about USD: price range of 80-90

for 500/512 GB SSD: about USD: price range of 130-150

An external 2 TB drive: for laptop (USB bus-powered - usually 2.5 "HDD included): 90 us $, for the largest 3.5" Office style HDD: 90 USD

    For me:

I store all my music on the external network drive (RAID 1 configuration, 2 TB, and 50 percent full this time), all my documents/pictures are still in my 500 GB SSD.

I don't have much video projects on my SSD.

I used about 200 GB in my internal SSD flash drive

Good luck finding your best solution.

  • Pavilion zv5000 - IDE adapter for HARD drive?

I have a Pavilion zv5000 series portable whose hard drive died several years ago. My father sent him to a work friend, who understood that it was the HARD drive, and I guess that he threw the car with an adapter with it. I got an IDE drive, foolishly, assuming that the pins on the drive just fit into the connector on the laptop itself. After a lot of confusion as to why the player wouldn't be good, a research showed a card equipped with a regular at one end IDE connector and a connector similar to that on the laptop on the other. I ask if it is true that I need one, even if I do not otherwise so that it connects.

Also, nines are isolated from the main pins on the drive. The old connector Molex had also four pins. These are the power pins, and the adapter address these too? It doesn't seem to be any other connector on the laptop. Once again, I want to just confirm this and no I have to not just buy the wrong thing for this laptop.

Therefore the adapter that I'm looking for?

Yes, I used to own a zv5000 and I can confirm there was a plastic connector black who went on the IDE brass pins on the hard drive to allow the connection to the motherboard.

    This is what you need:
