HP pavillion a6077p w/Vista has a lightscribe dvd drive is not working.
LightScribe DVD turns on, then turns... nothing! Tried to replace the disks with a different computer. The Lightscribe disc works fine in another computer. The other is (Memorex) still did not work in the HP computer. also tried a new tablecloth and even swapped the motherboard with the same model. Still plays the same thing. Currently, I have reinstalled the lightscribe and added the memorex as slave. Neither work. Everything else on the PC works great!
Thanks for any help.
Hello
You probably have to reinstall the whole system.
This MS MrFix It should do the job in most cases. Microsoft fix it Center.
It is possible that another piece of software blocks the driver works correctly. Software products that inject code into the loading process could cause the same problem. I don't know at some point that the DVD player was working normally and then an upgrade or installation of other software because of the issue.
Restore your PC is this a last resort.

Windows Vista Business 32-bit external drive does not work in the administrator account
Hello, I installed Microsoft Windows Vista Business 32-bit on a Dell Precision T3400 workstation, and I have also configured the strategies of groups for Non administrators. Basically, I disabled the removable drives, 'C' and had "only for non administrators." After edit in GP, the system has been precisely set and I am able to access the Administrators account and copy stuffs from my local drive on my USB key. But a few days later, I'm not able to use my USB or other external drives in Administrator account, it shows that 'inaccessible '. But I can't access local drives 'C' or '. Then I have to redo the group policies and it will last only for 3 days. Thanks :)

It won't read a DVD. It will not read ANY CD or DVD. I tried 12 different CD/DVD. This isn't an upgrade to Vista; the computer came "made for Vista" with Vista installed on it. I had added Nero. I removed Nero. I did all the updates. I have not released the driver and reinstalled. He claims to have the latest driver software, but it won't work. The computer can see the CD/DVD, but he calls it a 'CDROM '. It is not the case. It is a DVD/Cd-RW with Labelflash.
I did everything suggested that past discussions. I ran FIXIT program that claims that the drive works properly. It is not the case.
I tried to get various programs to recognize. They cannot see the installed media.
I uninstalled iTunes.
Please do not give me the answer of cut-and - paste stock; It does not work.
Please tell me what to do to make Vista see the media inserted in the CD/DVD-RW drive.
Thank you.

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:

Note: After the troubleshooting steps, refer to clean the start link to configure the computer to normal startup mode.Step 2: Manually disable the AntivirusImportant note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
