HP PHotosmart 5520: HP Photosmart 5520 no black printing; I'm out of $58.99 for the HP ink cartridges that I can't use

So after stopping my printer print in black ink, I came across the forums looking for the problem. I tried all the recommended / suggested "patches", nothing happens. To realize that it is a known problem with these printers, and after talking with a HP technician by phone who informed me that the printer is broken, I spent the rest of my morning trying to find someone at HP for please compensate me for the $58.99 I spent on HP ink cartridges I can no longer use or return - it was only after I installed new cartridges that I learned the printer is Broken - in order to buy another HP printer. (I have been perfectly willing to buy another HP printer because the 5220 has been very good for us).

The best they could offer me was $17 a $99 replacement printer that is off * not * compatible with new ink cartridges I currently have. Then, after my calculations, this would be 58,99 $ + $82 = $140,99 to be able to print again.

Not exactly a lot, IMHO.

Very disappointed with the HP customer service.  Will not buy products more HP.

I would like to please mark it as "resolved".

After posting my question on this forum, I was contacted by an army of knowledgeable, helpful HP of the people who have worked hard and quickly to help me and solve my problem. Compared to the frustrating help/customer service I received through call HP, it's like dealing with a completely different company.  In hindsight, I regret to have never wasted my time trying to solve my problem by phone, but to be honest, I've posted my question here of frustration, not expecting any resolution, but rather an opportunity to evacuate.

What happened after I posted here is, indeed, a very pleasant surprise.

I was put in contact with a representative of HP who gave me a discount on the purchase of a new HP printer (which I got yesterday) and with his help have also made arrangements to return my ink cartridges (still expensive) open but little used in Exchange for a set of new compatible with my new HP printer cartridges.

Just what I was looking for was for HP to support their products - who loved us and we served well and were ready to buy again - and ultimately, they did it just to our satisfaction.

Thank you very much to all those who helped us.

  • Photosmart HP 6510: Black print failed

I have a HP Photosmart 6510, which will not print black - pages of text, sound as if they are printing, but the page comes out blank. Watch as the color test page, but not black.  There is no error message.  Black print cartridge is full and I have applied all recommended maintenance procedures.  I'm going to disassemble the printer (which is out of warranty) and the print head to check the visible obstructions before deciding to give up completely and use my backup of Canon.  Can anyone suggest any other remedies or advice on removal of the print head?  Thank you.

Thanks for your suggestions.  I removed and cleaned the print head, but the problem remains unresolved.  I did more research and decided to go deeper into the printer to access tubes empty below the print head.  I couldn't find all the instructions more complex procedure on the HP site or elsewhere online, so most of the work was intuitive.  I managed to remove the 'well' below the print head complete with 4 vacuum tubes, and it was immediately obvious to me that the black ink tube was clogged.  I went to clean the whole by immersing in hot water and using a syringe to flush out the tubes.  I cleaned too much ink frozen since sponges of drain that receives the excess ink from the vacuum system (no doubt mostly print head last cleaning operations).  After drying of the parts and reassembling the printer, everything is back to the fully functional State.

I was amazed at the amount of vitriol expressed by users of the forum to HP for what seems to have been a recurring problem with these printers.  It seems incredibly useless to throw a sound mechanical printer because of a dried ink problem, but that's what many did the cost of 2-3 hours time technician to fix the problem simply cannot be justified. It is unfortunate that HP provides no instructions for technical people like me who are willing to undertake their own maintenance out of warranty HP products.

  • All-in-one Photosmart HP 3310: black printing in odd rows

    Hello

I have had this printer for almost 6 years and never had a problem with it until this last week. My impression started out as below:

As you can see, the colors are fine, but black seems to be coming out in lines. As the black cartridge was almost empty, I replaced it and received the same impression. I replaced that one (just in case the cartridge was defective) and received the same impression.

My printer is out of warranty; I tried to clean the print heads and align the printer several times over the last week and nothing has changed. In fact, every print I do has the same meaning (even thickness, same color, same type [dotted, lined, etc.], in the exact same places every time, which is interesting.

I tried the reset of the printer (pulling on the power cord for 15 to 30 seconds, and then reconnecting), alignment and clean the print heads in the printer menu, and then on the menu in my Mac, and I tried to get the number online (here and here), but came to nothing.

I'm currently located in the United States, in Arizona. I understand that it is an older printer, so I may end up having to replace, but I was hoping someone might have a suggestion.

    Thank you

    ~ Leslie

    Hey @TheLastDuchess,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are having problems of black print quality when printing HP Photosmart 3310 all-in-one printer. I first want to thank you for all the details you provide me in your message. I see you've already replaced the black cartridge twice, cleaned and aligned the print head several times and reset the printer nothing helps. Unfortunately at this time, it sounds like you have a defective system of the print head. The printhead in the unit model is not replaceable part. It reads the cartridges and ink to go on the control document. If this part in case of failure to replace the entire unit would be necessary. According to all the steps that you have already tried, at the moment, you have exhausted the troubleshooting steps. I don't want you to run one more cleans away from your printhead system because it uses no ink in order to rinse the ink for cleaning system. The rule is generally, if cleans 2-3 make no difference, not to go forward with more clean as you will just waste ink.

At that time, I suggest that you contact our Technical Support by phone team to explore additional options.

For Arizona, HP Technical Support can be reached at the: 1800-474-6836

    Good luck and happy holidays!

  • Photosmart Premium c309a black print green on photo paper / CDs

Got a Photosmart Premium c309a.  Bought in early 2009.  When I print on normal paper, photos prints fine, but when I print on paper photo, all black prints with a green tint.  This is regardless whether if I said that I'm printing on photo paper or not. When I print to CDs, black print blue.

I have correctly printed on two media before but recently had this problem.  Colors are progressively worsened recently before arriving at this point.

I use Windows 7.  Updated the drivers and software but still no joy.  Latest version of the downloaded driver / software for my Mac but the same for photos and the CD.

I did about 5 cleans through the Toolbox print head and replaced HP black ink cartridges (both black and Photo black).  Currently have more than half full for each black cartridge.  Other colors are not empty but either.   Also tried the print head with water for rinsing after its withdrawal.

I did a diagnostics page.  The black bar Photo is not printed at all.  However, further down on the page, the photo black ink level indicator prints OK (assuming that really aid black photo).

Everything prints fine so I can print documents and images as long as it isn't on paper photo or CD.  I bought the printer mainly for CD printing features.

Is - this weird color problem with the printhead fault?  Could replace solve this (someone tried?)?  A replacement would put me back £26 so I wanted to ask first.

    Thank you.

I suggest you soak the printhead, as described in the post here.

  • My 7250 Photosmart all-in-one, will not be printed. He keeps asking to replace the blue ink cartridge lite.

How can I get around the error message that doesn't work I would like to print?

    jason_h wrote:
The Photosmart 7250 requires that all cartridges are available to be able to print. It is built into the unit to stop damage to the print head by preventing the ink to dry in the ports.

If the machine gives an error that a cartridge is low and needs to be changed, then it should be changed to resume printing. For more information on depleted of ink cartridges in the Photosmart 7250 see the link here.
I replaced the bad blue cart. get the right one tomorrow - more to follow. Thank you

  • Cannot print in black and white when the yellow ink cartridge is low on ink

Someone please tell me that the guy I talked to customer service is a fool and there is a way to print black and white, once your color cartridge runs out of ink.

If this isn't the case, it's the cheapest clamp, all the money that I've ever heard of.  Someone please tell me they did sink that low.

Printers that have individual ink cartridges (separate magenta, yellow and cyan) must have all the colors, mounted so as to ensure that the printhead to dry out and is not damaged. Some printers who have integrated print heads (that just take the 2 black and tricolor cartridges) have the ability to print in what is known as a reserve mode. That is where we remove the empty cartridge and is able to print a test page to determine if the printer can operate in reserve mode until a replacement can be purchased. The reason for the cartridges to install, is that the printer uses ink for other purposes in addition to printing. It is also used to maintain the printer. Here is a link to learn more about this topic. He will also discuss the topic of the reserve mode as well.

  • Series of HP photosmart 7525 impossible black print

A series of HP photosmart 7525.  Replace all of the cartridges, the leaf print cartridge lined up and the colors appear fine but can only print in color.  I tried black and nothing prints.

  • PHOTOSMART HP 6520 does not print black. And the ink levels estimated for the other inks are not correct.

Hi, I bought my photosmart Hp 6520 year last, October. But it is no more print black after replacing ink twice. I tried to clean the print head with water and tried "clean print head" in tools, does not solve the problem...

What is wired is that I bought 4 new 564 inks the hp of the target 2 days ago, printed only less than 10 pages to see if the problem is resolved. Then my printer told me that the cartridge is too low... Is this possible?

It makes me crazy now... What is even worse, I used a tool to detect my printer, and he said that is no longer under warranty... But he was only 9 months... How can I solve this problem? Thank you.

The document here can help solve the black does not print on your Photosmart 6520.  Be sure to check the vents, as on the three solution.

If this does not resolve the issue I suggest you call HP (1-800-HPINVENt to the United States, see here for details by the way).  The warranty online tool is an estimate, they will have a process of updated the status of the guarantee if necessary.

  • Photosmart C5180 - printing stops when the any ink cartridges run dry - what is happening with this?

My C5180 does not print anything, apparently because the cartridge Light Magenta Ink. I have given levels of gray, black ink only, but it persists in telling me to replace the color cartridge. Can it be good? Is it really necessary to buy a new cartridge in order to use the printer printing black ink?

    Thank you.

Insert the printer installation CD in your cd and cancel any window of installation. then type "X:\util\ccc\uninstall_L2.bat" in the run window (replace "X" with the drive letter of the CD drive the CD instalalion is located in..). you will get a black command prompt window that will feature instructions. Follow the instructions carefully. Once installation is complete, it can ask you to reboot, then do it.

then start the installation once more. 's done it, you shouldn't face this problem.

  • HP Photosmart 5524 - double sided printing - back comes out backwards

I bought this printer last week and she chose specifically because it's "automatic double-sided printing. However, when it is set to print (flip on short edge) the back is reflected backwards.

Does anyone know how to get all pages of reading in the same way?

Two sided with the parameter ' Flip on short edge ' prints the pages in this way. When you bind the sheets of paper on the shorter side (top of page) the reverse page should be printed in reverse to ensure readability.

If you want both sides to be printed the same way, try the two sided with the option ' Flip on the side the longest. "

  • A half black screen. Link out of order. After the upgrade to version 26 on Android 2.3.6

    Hello.

I had firefox installed on my Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus - Android 2.3.6 14.

Everything worked fine until I upgraded to firefox version 26.

All of a sudden when I request a web page, or it is blocked with a layer of demi-noir at the bottom of half of it, which is not clickable. So if I need to see something in the background, I must use way difficult to reach the top of the page.

Or. Web links are totally inadmissible. It's as if there is no link in the first place.

I don't sometimes understand the need for such updates which causes a problem in firefox, when the old version completely works perfectly.

    Kind regards
    Walid

You can try a current nightly build of Firefox for android

    https://nightly.Mozilla.org/

Where some changes that could help.

    OR

Uninstall Firefox and restart your phone and then install Firefox from Google play. Don't download and install from other Web sites.
