HP Spectre13-3010dx sleep problems, Shutdown

Hello

I recently bought this ultrabook and I noticed that the sleep and stop functions do not work as expected. Restart works very well.

Description of the problem

  • When you try to put the computer to sleep, the screen goes black, but the system stays on (lights on the keyboard, the fan spins again). I'm unable to recover from this State unless I make a difficult stop (hold down the power button / stop) or wait 5 minutes, how the computer off simply. This kind of... defeated the purpose of "sleep". Haha.
  • Same thing happens when I stop the laptop - screen turns off, turns on and the fan turned on and unless I turned off by force, laptop remains in a vegetative state for five minutes and then shuts down its own.
  • In both cases, I am unable to recover from the black screen. No response from the computer, regardless of the key combination (Ctrl + Alt + Delete, etc.)

I dug around here the support forums and noticed other people had issues similar, but on different computer models (i.e., Pavilion, dv6, etc.), so I tried to take these specific solutions to solve my problem, but there has been no result.

Steps taken to solve the attempt

  • The laptop came with the version of BIOS Insyde F.09, so I updated the version of BIOS to F.13. Does not solve the problem
  • I went into the BIOS and reset all default settings. Still has not solved the problem.
  • I found another thread that the user had the same problem as me, but on a different model specifications. I tried to use their solution to roll back BIOS. However, it has not yet solve the problem.

Note: Problem of this other user has emerged due to a BIOS upgrade, while my computer was delivered to me with this already existing problem.

From this moment any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

Mike

Hi all

I am not convinced that it could not help others, but they gave me a day after I posted this, notification to install updates on my laptop and these updates fixes the problem. I do not know what updates took place, but they work.

For those who still know the problem, my apologies. I'm not really sure what HP update to solve this problem.

  • Edge 13 sleep problem win7 (intel)

    Hello

I think I have a sleep problem with my edge. If I close the lid, I can still hear the hard drive by clicking on current time to time and CPU fan. I checked all the power settings and it should go to sleep and nothing should stop going to sleep. Case may be where the cover he never sleeps, but if I choose sleep from the start menu, it will sleep. And I checked all the places it should go sleep by closing the lid.

Thing worries me a bit, it is that if I run in prompt command "powercfg - a" he reports this computer only supports the S3 (hybrid sleep) and S1 and S2 modes are not supported.

    Mystery solved:

    HW problem!

A magnet located in the lower right corner of the cover of the computer, under the screen rectangle shaped box is too low!

I tried one of my magnets "fridge" on the top of my power button and computer went to sleep state and _stayed_ in mode standby.

    * Sigh * I wonder what I should do to fix this problem? Magnetic tape to improve the weak magnet on my computer?

  • Error ' ' system timer was triggered "and hibernation / sleep problem.

Original title: Hibernation and sleep problem?

I bought a new laptop of Toshiba C55 series probably a little a month ago and for a while, it was fine, I had no problem. I had some mistakes with what is called a bad pool header, I've not experienced this once again. My main problem is with the sleep and hibernation. I went and disabled any parameter that would be extended automatically to my computer after a short period of time. It is set at only hibernate after like five hours, I'm never away from him that long. I don't want it to hibernate unless I put it specifically put into hibernation. I heard talking about hibernation is hard on your computer. I am usually only away from him for a couple of hours, so it's easier to have it in sleep so I can come back and get the right to return to work or what I was doing. I put it in mode 'sleep' whenever I need to go away for a few hours, for some time, I had no problem, he would go to the mode standby and stay there until I woke it. My problem is that most of the time when I put it in fashion watches, it goes to the hibernate after only a few minutes. WHY would he do that? And how can I stop it? There are times that I put him to sleep and he done as it should. Most of the time, but it goes to the hibernate after a few minutes. I don't want to make this period. Is there a setting I'm missing, I have conflicting settings on something? What is a small problem with Windows 8, or with my computer itself? The last thing I want to do is to restore it to factory settings and lost all the things that I have saved and have to reinstall my programs again.

There is also something else showing in my event viewer I've ever seen before. That means when he says "system timer was triggered." And can someone tell me what means the bad pool header error and how to fix it?

I found a solution, I noticed when I Hibernate the computer at night to go to bed is when it remains not in mode 'sleep'. I stopped it in hibernation at all now and it says in the mode "sleep" very well.

  • Pavilion Notebook PC 15-079er: problems with sleep and shutdown 15-n079er HP Pavilion Notebook PC.

    Hello world

I have a huge problem with my Pavilion. I used Windows 8.1 earlier, and I decided to upgrade to Windows 10. I did not like something (can't remember what) and decided to return to Windows 8.1. Almost a year passed, I am again on Windows 10. But if I SLEEP my computer:

    • Screen goes black, everything seems normal.
    • No matter how long wait, fan keeps spinning and power LED, LED Wi - Fi on.
    • Keyboard input does not help. Does not meet what it is.
    • The only thing left to do - stop hard.

And if I shut down the operating system:

    • Windows normally stops, close all applications, screen goes black.
    • Fan on, led on.

I did not notice these problems with restarting and the hibernation.

Two things I've done in this gap of the year:

    • Replacement screen. An old broke. Thanks to my cat...
    • Formatted the drive. I don't think it would do anything diffirent.

So, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

On some machines, the pilot for 11 series IMEI has been known to cause that kind of question of the judgment, so it may be worth trying an earlier version.

You can use the following method to install an earlier version of the driver IMEI.

Download driver IMEI on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe

Disable your wireless card (should be f12 ).

Open your download folder and run the installer - it warns you that it is an earlier version, but simply continue.

    When finished, restart the laptop.

If the computer shuts down correctly, turn on your wireless adapter and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 to update automatically the driver IMEI again.

  • Shutdown/sleep problems Win10 V5-573-54204G50aii and similar models

    Hello

I have an acer aspire v5 - 573 and its got some problem with win10.

go to sleep is not turned off in all parts of the pc.

the operating system goes into sleep mode and the screen turns off, but the fans continue to operate and it remains hot and unresponsive.

the only way out of this State is force it off by holding the power button.

which obviously stop the machine completely and if the sleep state saved is lost when its powered upwards again.

So basically the day before is unusable.

with respect to the regular diet down, it only works if I arrested him shortly after the start (maybe an hour or two).

If the machine is on for longer than this, a judgment will result in the same State, as described above for

standby. pretty funny if I run the system for a few hours (until a stop working properly) and then do a restart, it restarts, but instead correctly stop...

I have gone through several complete relocations of a different version of win10 and have installed the latest drivers acer and no other programs. the problems persist. In addition, a friend of mine who has a different configuration of this acer aspire model v5 - 573, knows very similar if not exactly the same questions.

y at - it a fix for this? everyone knows about similar problems?

    It is a known compatibility issue with computers Intel Haswell-ULT (e.g. 4200U i5, i5 4210U i7 4500U) and the driver Windows 10 Intel Management Engine Interface 11.0.0.1146.

The most commonly used workaround is to use the Windows 8.1 Intel Management Engine Interface 9.5.24.1790 driver.   If you're lucky, it's just a simple matter to go to the Device Manager and roll back the driver.  If you did a clean installation of Windows 10, rollback may not work, and you may need to install 9.5.24.1790.

    https://community.Acer.com/T5/Windows-10/aspire-V5-573G-freezes-instead-of-sleep-irregularly-not/m-p...

If you need more information or details, please search in the forum that there are hundreds of positions on the issue.

Here is an another computer Haswell-LATER with the same problem.

Insofar as a long term solution, I don't know.  I do not work for Acer and only Acer or Intel or Microsoft could answer that.  This Windows 8.1 MEI driver is probably the solution long term.

  • 15-P152NU Pavilion: Pavilion/closed sleep problem

Hello everyone! I write for the first time and I hope I do it in the right section.
So, I recently bought a new 15-P152NU Pavilion and it is great but there is a very annoying problem right from the beginning that drives me crazy I tried almost everything I might have found on the Internet and still found no solution. So my problem is this - when I use the laptop for periods of solitaire (over an hour) it won't go to sleep or off. When I try to do a stop/standby the screen would turn black and the cover and the fan would stay. What I noticed is that if I try to shutdown/sleep when I used it for periods short (10-20 minutes), it would be nice and the fan and the cover would be turned off. But otherwise they would stay and my copmputer essentially dies and I have to press on and hold the power button and then start all over to get to the race. I tried to leave it any longer (I left it overnight) - without success. I don't know either it is based on the temperature of the cpu or a process which starts after a certain period of time, but I was really tired so I hope that I find a solution here. What I've tried so far is:

-Adjust the advanced settings in Power Options.
    -Disable Hibernation
-Update/restore Intel HD Graphics Family and almost all drivers which could be updated / restored.
    -Run the troubleshooter in Windows
    -Disable Boot (Restart) fast
-Looking for a process that interrupts sleep and stopping by using powercfg-queries. All say no
-Looked for a setting in the BIOS that could prevent the stop/standby - found nothing related...

I'm really tired of this so I'll be looking forward to your answers. Hope someone can help me.

    Hello, @Sparkles1,.

And thanks for the reply to my post. Fortunately, I managed to solve the problem. I found a solution after a long reading on the Internet. You, it might be useful for other users, I will share it than what has worked for me.

    1. go in Control Panel -> Device Manager
    2. expand System devices
    3. find Intel (R) Management Engine interface -> right click-> properties-> driver

    4. check the driver version. If 11.x.x.x , you'll probably face my problem.

    5. uninstall the driver. Restart your computer.
    6. download the old driver (version 9.5.15.1730 5 M) by https://downloadcenter.intel.com/search?keyword=intel+management+engine and install it. Reboot if requested.

That's all. This did the trick for me. I hope it will be useful for other users too.

I'm sorry I didn't post my solution earlier, but I had completely forgotten that I had posted here. Anyway thanks for your reply. I think that the forums of HP is an amazing place.

    Happy holidays!

  • Dell U2715H as second monitor sleep problem

I just bought a Dell U2715H monitor to connect to my iMac 27 "mid-2010.

Implementation, the system works beautifully. Plug n play, as we are accustomed to the Apple universe.

But after an automatic start, this morning, the Dell remained black, what I tried.

A phone call with the helpdesk Dell did not bring a solution; they are willing to trade for a new monitor, but I think not (just a feeling) which will tackle the problem.

After having a cup of coffee, I came back to my Mac, who had fallen asleep in the meantime.

Pressing a button all of life, including (surprise) the Dell monitor system.

After a few experiences, I discovered that after a reboot, the Dell remains black.

Put the system to sleep (using a hot corner) and pressing a key is not wake up the Dell.

Bringing the system to sleep and pressing a button after waiting 10-20 seconds, puts the entire system, including the Dell monitor.

The monitor is connected to a mid 2010 iMac 27 "2.93 GHz Intel Core i7, with a miniDP to DP cable.

Although I found this 'solution' after hours of frustrating attempts, it feels a bit inadequate.

Anyone who is familiar with this problem who found a more definitive solution?

  • Pavilion 15 p143cl ENERGYSTAR: laptop is not fully Hibernate, sleep and shutdown.

Since I did something with my drivers, things are haywire. Here is a list of a few things I had problems with: sometimes when I use a voice such as Skype or discord application, sounds on my desk are picked up through my microphone even if I use a helmet, automatic my computer maintenance starts the most random times and it never seems to end and every time I have stop Hibernate, or put my computer to sleep, my screen turns off, but my fan, psychic power, and mouse to lighting are always on. the fan works as well, but it's at a speed slower and quieter. All my drivers are up to date, and therefore my BIOS. My guess is that the BIOS update may have caused things to go haywire in my computer. Can someone please help me solve this problem? I have to use to press the power button to do my computer turn off or go to sleep.

    Hello

Not necessarily - I just noticed your reply.

First, run some diagnostics as follows.

    Stop of the laptop.

Tap away at the esc you key start Notepad to open the Start Menu.  Select the Menu of diagnosis ( f2 ) and run the tests on the hard drive and memory.

If there are error codes generated, post back with details - if everything goes, try the 2 suugestions below.

    1. on some machines, the pilot for 11 series IMEI has been known to cause that kind of question of the judgment, so it may be worth trying an earlier version.

You can use the following method to install an earlier version of the driver IMEI.

Download driver IMEI on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp66001-66500/sp66228.exe

Once done, open your downloads folder and run the installer - it warns you that it is an earlier version, but simply continue.

    When finished, restart the laptop.

2 it can also be a value to uninstall the current driver for Intel Smart technology, restart, then try the version directly from Intel on the link below.

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/download/23109/Intel-Smart-Connect-Technologyailing

If none of the above suggestions work and if you don't know exactly what changes you made which led to this question, you may want to perform a factory reset and see if that will solve the problem - a guide on the main methods for this are on the link below.

I did a diagnosis of memory and found no errors.

    Hi dwellas

I understand that you are having problems with the computer is shut down and not being able to wake up.

You can have an application or process that runs in the background that not stop correctly. Close all applications on the status bar that you can, make sure you first close all programs, and then try again. If this works, you should see what you have installed which can be the cause of this.
