HP t610 turn off the monitor

Hi all!

We have a series of WES 610 thin, agent image 5.1.983, 4.5.3660.161180 version.

We leave tour monitor forever in power with an administrator account management options. But when connected with the client user account shut down the monitor after 15 minutes (factory settings). With the user account, it is not possible to set power options and the system not inherit the settings of the administrator account. Any suggesttions to set never turn off the screen to also with the user account?

TKS, Carmelo

TKS for the tip!

We have tried all your suggestions, but the second and third didn't work.

Only the first seems to be applicable.

We have copyed the powercfg on the client and then run the command window by using the credentials of the user, in this way, we were able to change the right key in the active power scheme.

    Hello

I am trying to create simple VI that will turn off the monitor (or screen saver turns on) and entrance to block mouse and keyboard - user so won't be able to see the screen and do any action. I use system32.dll for this.

My problem is that when my VI turn off the monitor, user can enable it back by simply moving the mouse or using the keyboard, similarly as these devices are blocked (by the function BlockInput of System32.dll).

How can I do the ultimate freeze?

Attached VI is based on Danny_Funk 'disable the monitor.vi.

    Dear bieneck,

This is a very interesting problem you have there. I was snooping around Microsoft technical support for a bit, and the only reasonably simple method, I found was running powercfg.exe from an elevated line comand. You can query wake programmable devices with powercfg - devicequery wake_programmable poster theand disable using "Your device name" powercfg - devicedisablewake. Here you can find a more detailed documentation.

Except that I have found no reliable method that will spare you excessive digging in the registry. Maybe some 3 rd party tool?

One more thing: If your goal is to prevent the user from interacting with anything, it would be easier to make up a large modal window that does not workaround? At least, it seems to me that it is much simpler to use a native Windows function that is not provided for this purpose.

  • Light (switch) on my screen does not turn off. I have to shut my computer down several times a day to turn off the monitor.

Light (switch) on my screen does not turn off.  So, I shut down my computer and restart several times a day, because when I put it in mode 'sleep', he wakes to the top in a few minutes and will not fall asleep.  I could put a blanket on my screen when not in use, but I'd rather find a way to make it stay asleep when I tell him.

Light (switch) had already done once before and I was so worried that once I turned off the monitor that I would never get it new on... a bit short of money here, to buy a new monitor, but the next day, I pressed the power button with an additional downward pressure and I could so he could start working again (able to turn the market monitor).  It was about 3 weeks ago.  Now, the light stays green, unless I stop the whole computer.

Maybe my main problem is sleep mode, which removes the screen for like 2 minutes and then he wakes up to the top and is so rude when I myself and try to sleep, I just turn off the monitor everytime I put the computer to sleep.

Now, I can't turn off the monitor, except by turning off the computer.

  • How can I turn off the monitor (e.g., "standby") via the command line at the push of a button (or any other shortcut need not additional software)?

    Hello

I don't like it when, after a break from work on my PC, the screen turns off as set up through "Power Options" in the control panel. That's why I put the relatively high threshold.
However, when I know that I will not need the computer for a while, I want to save energy and wish the mode "sleep" could be activated immediately. Turn off the screen is not an option, because it has a USB hub built-in - off completely would be to unplug any connected device. Usually, if the computer has always works and might need the resources connected.

Ideally, by pressing a button (or start a program or something), the screen would immediately go in mode 'sleep'.

On systems prior to Vista and 7, IIRC, running a command in the sense of:
    Rundll32.exe user32.dll, SendMessage (HWND_BROADCAST, WM_SYSCOMMAND, SC_MONITORPOWER, 2);
would do the trick. The dll should run the command to set the monitor to sleep. We could create a shortcut or even integrate the command in a batch file, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work on Vista or 7.

Does anyone have an idea on how to do it on Windows 7?

I would strongly try to avoid having to install any additional software to help me. (There is quite a little all about, even free applications that promise to do exactly that, but I want to avoid them if possible.) "And I can't believe that this basic that could be done on XP cannot act more on 7!).

    Thank you for your help,

    Hello

Sleep is one thing and switching Off the Display is quite another.

I found a way to turn off the screen in case you don't have a hardware switch or a keyboard shortcut as in my Dell Inspiron laptop (Windows 7).

Create a batch with the following script file:

    echo off

    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-dc 1
    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-ac 1

    START/min/Wait C:\Windows\System32\scrnsave.scr s

    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-dc m1
    C:\Windows\System32\powercfg.exe-changer - monitor-timeout-ac m2

with the idle time to turn off your screen set in the Control Panel, replace m1 and m2.

Control Panel > Power Options > any 'Active' diet Plan > change Plan settings > disable the display setting (minutes).

    For example, in my computer laptop m1 = m2 = 30 and 10.

Now create a shortcut to the batch file and optionally assign a keyboard shortcut and an icon.

    Explanation of the script:

The first two commands sets the idle time Display Off for the minimum possible setting of 1 Minute for the AC and DC (battery) power. The third command put the system mode blank screen saver 'instantly' and / Wait for the screensaver to terminate application. After 1 minute of inactivity, the monitor turns off power completely.
The Saver screen/Wait is over by the event of the reactivation of a movement of the mouse button, the last two lines of code will come back the idle time-out settings of origin defined in the Panel view. This to ensure that after waking up, the display does not Turn off all 1 minute of inactivity expire.

  • Whenever I have turn off my monitor, and then turn it back on, all my desktop icons are completely reorganized.

This issue just started.  Whenever I have turn off my monitor and then turn it back on, all my desktop icons are completely reorganized.  This happens when my system goes into power saving mode, or whenever I have turn off the monitor.  Even if I turn it back on just 5 seconds later, all of my icons are not where they were previously.  Help!

    Suggestions:

    1 a simple way:
. Right click on desktop > view > uncheck Auto arrange > check snap to grid.

    2. in a more elaborate way and actually a better way. I use this method I have over 150 shortcuts etc on my desk. I can't afford to have shortcuts/icons, rearranging themselves. I won't be able to find anything, if they do.
    Here is the tutorial:
    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/save-and-restore-desktop-icon-layout-in-Windows-Vista/

Note: The method is not perfect, you can, after a while, have one or 2 icons on the spot. But it's easy to fix.

  • Windows 7 double monitors - turn off a monitor causes Office to reorganize resulting in substantial losses of productivity.

I have 2 monitors connected to a card nVidia FX 580 running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. A monitor is linked via DVI and the other through DP (Display Port).

If I turn off the monitor of the RFP, I hear the windows sound indicating the material has been "deleted." When I turn on the monitor, I hear the sound of new hardware, windows re - detects the monitor as if I just installed it and my layout any icon on the desktop and all the windows, I had open are then all rearranged and takes a long time, re-organization to come back to where I was.

I leave my PC on 24 hours a day for several reasons - and for years have always just had my monitors turned off when you are not using it.

I need to be able to turn off my monitors without windows deciding that I "removed" a monitor.

I work for a software company of medical imaging, where we provide the complete hardware and software solutions for use in radiology departments in hospitals. These systems are usually 3 or 4 connected monitors, all via DP these days. Due to the possibility of the desktop users get messed up, if they happen to turn off a monitor, we can not install systems with Windows 7.

While many may see this as nothing more then a disadvantage, it is a show-stopper as what we concerned. Yet as I have not found a viable solution to this problem.

So here's the question: how to disable this new behavior in Windows 7 and allow him to understand that the monitor has not gone away and that the Office should not be changed simply because the monitor is off?

    Thank you.

I wrote a small utility to fix this problem. It is still very thrown together, but Open source, so you can compile sources if you have security problems.

I hope it works for you!

  • How can S2340T, I turn off the touch function?

I am running the S2340T monitor on a Windows Pro 8.1 System.  Touch calibration occasionally goes haywire, but I've always been able to open the tool pen and Touch and recalibrate.  Except that now, it doesn't seem to be "holding".

As I rarely use the tactile aspect of the screen and am completely comfortable with my trackball mouse, I would just turn the tactile aspect * off *.

How can I do this?  I know that you go to the Device Manager, but how to know what 'Human Interface' element it is?  I'm a gamer, so I have a * lot * of human interface elements.

  • monitor turns off turning off the kitchen light

I know that sounds weird, but I have a problem for some time now. I have a trash can end 2013, Mac Pro and Eizo monitor connected by a miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable. When I turned off the light in my kitchen, the monitor lost the signal from the Mac for about 10 seconds, and then returned. It was an annoying problem, but I could live with it.

Now, after the last update to OSX, the problem got worse. The screen loses the signal, but can't find again as before. Even if I unplug & plug the cable displayport, I can get the screen on again once. Only if I use a MiniDisplayPort to DVI, I can make it work with a bit of luck. Then, when I plug the miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable and unplug the DVI adapter, it finds its 'report once again... also with a bit of luck and after switching around between outputs 6.

I have no idea how to solve this problem. And I can't use the DVI adapter because it does not support native of 27 "screen resolution (only until 1920 px I think).

Any idea on what could be the cause of this problem is welcome!

I would try to eat the Mac and the monitor by a UPS (uninterruptible power supply).

Also try plugging the Mac and the monitor in the taken away from the light switch.

Go to-> double click "Power Options" Control Panel-> 'Select a power plan' under your selected plan, click "Change plan settings"-> "Change plan", click on the blue link 'Change advanced power'-> in 'Advanced settings' tab expand "power buttons and lid"-> extend the action of the 'close' lid, set "on battery" and "Plugged in" to "Do nothing"-> click apply-> OK button

    Hello

    NirCmd download here:

    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/NirCmd.html

NirCmd is a tool for command line tiny and free to do anything

The zip file contains 2 .exe files, it is easier to install one that goes into your windows directory.

Then make 2 simple batch files, using the following scripts:

to turn off the display option:

    off @echo.

    Nircmd.exe monitor off

    and to turn on:

    off @echo.

    Nircmd.exe monitor off

Then use the windows scheduler to automate 2 batch files and make sure that your power options in windows are set to never turn off your computer or a screen.

    I hope that helps!

  • How to turn off the LCD on my T420i screen/monitor without spin mode sleep?

I have been using an Ideapad Y450 before this T420i. I love the Fn + F2 shortcut that I turn off the screen without turning to the mode "sleep" or sth like that. It still works as awaken, only the monitor is off, it is still continue to play the music or to continue the download. The display should be activated by moving the mouse or type on the keyboard, but only when you click Fn + F2 again. How can I do that on this new computer? T420i? Or is it not possitive to do? I really want to be able to turn off the screen without turning off or turning to sleep.

On my T400, I can choose Fn + F3 settings, press the combination to see if you have this:

Once you set it to "Turning the display off", in the future, you would be able to quickly shut down.

  • Double monitor turns off the second monitor in the locked mode

    Hello

We work in an environment of support and use the installation of two monitors. Win7 heard to have good management of these settings and easy-to-use features. However at some point, something that was great went troubled.

We can use two monitors while working on it however just its coastline turns off the second wallpaper and screen savers set if necessary. I tried to look for any change in config, but in vain. Looking for answer now here.

    Thanking you in advance.

    Kunal Pathak

There is no built-in way to change this feature. When it is locked, the screen will be black. There may be some 3rd party software that can do this, but it is not supported by Microsoft. Hi leon-k,.

Usually, you can cut the speakers in the Windows sound settings. Go to control panel > hardware and sound > sound.

Now, choose the recording tab as Akuma written and click Properties > listen. On this tab, you can change the volume and disable the microphone set.

  • Video projection turns off the screen of the computer - S1410-604

I have a problem with my S1410-604 in what it will appear not video (from the DVD player or the clips inserted into PowerPoint) through a data projector without turning off the computer screen. I called Toshiba who told me 'this particular model does not support this feature. I discovered that it's also a problem with the M30 range. I think replacing it with a M40, but I want to be sure that the problem will not recur. I called Toshiba again and told me that this time it was a software issue and was likely to be a problem with their full range, but I can 'download something '. I talked to an another techie who said he had never heard of the problem and that all the computers up to date would be OK too. Two questions: 'download something' to solve the problem, and if so where, or failing that if I don't have to replace the computer, will be the range M40 do I want that it?

    Hi John

Unfortunately I can't give you a precise answer, but I know very well that if you use display for laptop and external monitor or projector at the same time, it is possible that DVD movie or video applications will be displayed on LCD.

Try please go to an external device only and after that left the movie DVD or Power Point presentation.
