HP Touchsmart 15: Reconnect a device

-Tonight, I tried to turn off my touch screen. I have reseached and I read that I must go into the Device Manager. So I did it.

-I went under "Human Interface"Options and selected the USB input parameter (I can't entirely remember what it was called).  I disabled it, but I don't see the option more. And I can touch is more of the screen. I've tried absolutely everything, and I can't find anywhere in my laptop. I got it since last July. Any suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

---

Edit:

I think I'm on to something. I found the USB input device by choosing the option to show hidden devices. My computer is telling me to reconnect the device, even if I'm confused. I was able to disable the front touch screen option. Why I can't follow reactivate it?

Hi @torianne1126

Welcome to the HP Forums! I saw your post about the reactivation of the touch screen problems. You are on the right track. Try the click with the right button on the USB input device and see if you enable listed. In your picture showing the USB input device, there is another element partially hidden by Windows. It starts with "HDI-compatible tou" which is the rest?  In addition, just so I know what we are working with your product number.

I have a 520 Touchsmart and the screen would be a very nice monitor. I was wondering if you can connect to a PC with an HDMI cable and use it as a monitor to save money. Google is not my friend, so-... Any suggestions?

    Hello @Hillbilleh,

I understand that you are looking to use the HP Touchsmart 520 screen as a monitor and are wondering how to do it. Unfortunately, you can't do that you are wanting to do. The HP Touchsmart 520 is a computer with a screen built in and not a screen with a monitor built-in. This means asside game HDMI port THAT actually lead ALL other ports in and out of the computer and not the monitor. Therefore, it is very difficult without tearing the computer to use the display in the way that you are wanting to do.

I hope that I have answered your question to your satisfaction. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Automatic reconnection to a bluetooth device

    Hello

I have a bluetooth device that communicates using port virtual com. When I reset the unit it disconnects - obviously. However, when the device is live * not reconnect.* I couldn't find an AutoFix * battery Toshiba Bluetooth for Windows v5.10.14FP1 * who * to automatically reconnect the device *. Is there a way?

Open "Settings Bluetooth" by a double-click on the Bluetooth system tray icon.

  • virtual serial port (offered by a USB device) may not be reopened once the device has been lost and reconnected

To connect to a virtual serial port offered by a USB device.
-Physically disconnect the device (disappears from the entry in Device Manager)
-Reconnect the device. (It reappears in the Manager of input devices)
    -Close the file handle
-Reopen the virtual serial port. --> the CreateFile() call always fails with "ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND".
-After dis - / reconnect the USB device once, the serial port can be reopened

Even the true return of GetDefaultCommConfig there yet in CreateFile().

It is clearly bad habits, because in our case the disconnection/reconnection occurs due to a restart of the device; and it's quite embarrassing to explain buyer for the disconnect/reconnect the device.

Is there another workaround solution to clean the window's internal data structures or show me how to open the port?

  • How do you reconnect a bluetooth for Windows 8 device without first deleting?

Well, I am suspicious that there is no answer because Bluetooth is one of the apps that overlaps between the office and the new environment of Windows 8. We have to wait for an update from Microsoft. Currently, it is easy to add a Bluetooth device, which connects it to the times. Return to the desktop, you can see the familiar Bluetooth window that allows you to disconnect and reconnect the device. BUT NEVER CLOSE THIS WINDOW! If you do, you will need to remove the device, and then add it again to reconnect it.

It's stupid. When I look at the devices in the environment of Windows 8, I should be able to double-click on it or something to connect.

I don't know if you have solved your problem, already or not, but I had the same problem with my Soundfreaq his Kick. I was able to fix this by double clicking on enter playback devices and on the records tab and change to show disconnected devices. Once I did my camera remained there instead of disappear so I could log in and out easily. I hope this helps

  • Devices Satellite Pro L300D-110 - downgrading to XP Pro - HARD drive missing?

Hello to everyone in the Toshibe Satellite Pro - my first post forum.

I was one proud owner of other portable Tosh without any problem, but this time, I'm miserable: (o)

For professional use a few days ago, we bought a laptop Satellite Pro L300D 110 (AMD Athlon Dual Core). We bought it with the understanding that it could be brought back to XP Pro - mainly because some of the software that we use on a daily basis does not work reliably on Vista, but also because all other laptops to desktop computers in our network (including a WLAN) all running XP Pro, adding another machine that it should have been easy.

The need to do so has been confirmed by the fact, nevertheless, I tried, we could just not get the new Toshiba L300D connection through our routers so that under Vista. At the same time, we also bought a new Dell with no o/s. I installed a new copy of XP Pro SP2 OEM - and it runs under the sweet as a nut! Sorry, I digress:

I reduced the L300D to XP Pro very well using the XP Pro provided - Toshiba Recovery disk no problem at all. I had the computer connected to the network too, but then I realized that the DVD (Pioneer DVD - RW DVRTD08A ATA) is not found by Windows.

Logged in the BIOS setup - Yes, he was listed there OK, but tried some tongs and tricks I have learned over the years, I still couldn't XP Pro to the discovery of the device.

I have now reinstalled Vista on the machine and he found the DVD burner.

If it's a PC, I shut down the computer, open the case, disconnect the writer, start, stop, reconnect the device, close case and bingo. But not with perhaps a laptop...

Someone has ideas how (reliable!) downgrade to XP Pro without devices being endangered? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have two copies again more XP Pro SP2 at my disposal, if that's any use.

    Kind regards

    David

    (> I'm happy again now: o)
    Great to hear that!

    Just for info:
The most recent series of portable supports the newer SATA HDD controllers and so the operating system can be installed if the SATA drivers are not included and preinstalled.

So if you want to use the SATA features you must first install the SATA driver.
But you can also activate SATA mode to compatibility mode (in BIOS) and this would install the Win XP without the necessary SATA drivers.

    Good bye

    Hi lesgoodwin

Uninstall the drivers from Device Manager

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/283658

    1. connect the FireWire cable to the device that you want to connect your computer to your computer's 1394 port. Windows XP displays a message "new hardware found" and open a window for quick action.

    2. click on the action that Windows should take in the prompt window. For example, if you have connected an external hard drive, click on "Open folder to view files using Windows Explorer."

    3. click on the OK"" button. You will be asked to confirm that you want Windows to take the same action whenever you reconnect the device. Click on the 'OK' button in the dialog window to confirm.

4 access to the device using your favorite software. For example, if you have connected a digital camera, you can open Windows Movie Maker software built into Windows XP.

    5. use the device as usual. You can leave the devices connected via the 1394 adapter that is connected to your computer. You won't need to go through the process of installing again unless you disconnect and then reconnect the device.

And restart the computer, it will automatically generate the drivers

  • What is the best/better way to reenumerate USB ports from a script? I need to emulate the same enumeration that occurs when a USB device is either plugged or unglugged to a USB port.

I'm working on a network to restrict access to the ISSO role USB mass storage, only. Management wants to access USB Mass Storage for ISSOs on all workstations while blocking access to USB mass storage to all others... on all the workstations. They also want to that USB ports remain available for everything except Mass Storage.

There are many ways to do it, but the only 'reliable' method, I found so far is to point the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\UBSSTOR\ImagePath key to some fake file to block ports and rename it back to access it again.

To do this, I need to do things more two 2...

    1. make sure that the ImagePath key always has the false value at startup, and

    2. create a login script that affects the ImagePath value when a member of the ISSO group connects... and reset it when they log off.

Which meet the requirements of the direction if only it worked! The problem is that USB devices must be listed again to re-read the ImagePath registry key after each change. Reconnect the device will do, but it would be unwise to rely on a user to restrict access (fox/Coop).

The following Microsoft KB seems to be the way to go, but we do not have compilers on the network...

I know that this hack to the system is not the most elegant, but I'm just trying to make the management happy.

    Nobody knows...

    1. any (more elegant) way to meet the specified requirement, or

    2. a way to re - enumerate USB devices from a script.

I guess that the problem occurs when each device goes into sleep/hibernation because this is happining to only my external hard drive and printer.  All other devices connected by USB have never no problem and will not go to standby or Hibernate. I tried to just the printer powerdown (cables power and usb for printer peripheral but comp still running while still not recognized after that repower printer and then usb connection get 'unknown device'.)  The only way to obtain a recognized device, DHM or printer is as above full stop and then reconnect.  Any help would be greatly appreciated because it really is a pain and has cost me a printer that I threw out the window, luckly the window was open.  Thanks again for your time and your help very frustrated JK

Yes, that's the problem.  You need the OS installed on the computer (so it will show in the tab of the device software) in order to get rid of this error.  You can use any OS for your device model, regardless of the carrier.

Use the link below to find a carrier CDMA which offers the 8130 and has a download for 4.3.0.127.  Download it, install it on your computer.  Then go into c:\program files Research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."  This file prevents the installation of your device carrier operating systems.  Deleting the file will allow DM recognize as valid for your device.  It does nothing else, so it is safe to delete.  Once you have deleted the vendor.xml file reconnect the device to the PC and launch the Desktop Manager/Application Loader.  You should be good to go.
