HP2540 Deskjet: printer problems

I just got a used 2540 and it will not be printed. I took it apart and cleaned it disconnected all caps & ribbon cables and cleaned them. Everything else works, but the impression. Door open message appears and there is no door open, and there is no broken parts. I downloaded all the updates and the door is open again automatically opens. I tried almost everything and can not make it work. Any help would be appreciated. I hate to throw it in the trash. Also the light of attention and both cartridge lights blink on & off the power. Is it a senser everywhere that controls the door?

Hi @ENMChile,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I see you have a HP Deskjet 2540, and that it will not print on Windows 7. I'm happy to help with this problem!

The cables in water, are not supposed to be deleted. As this may damage the printer. You can try to go through this guide, lights flashing on Deskjet Ink Advantage all-in-one printers and HP Deskjet 2540 2545 But, if the ribbons cables have been removed, the best solution is to have the printer, or their replacement. 2. In the start screen, type "Devices and printers"

    5. Left click on the Advanced tab

    7. When the new window driver opens just hit 'next' until you see a list of manufacturers on the left and a list of printers on the right.
    8. Select HP as the manufacturer on the left
    9. DeskJet 9800 select the printer on the right. If Deskjet 9800 is only select "Windows Update" at the bottom left and once the update has been completed, you will be able to select Deskjet 9800.

  • HP Deskjet 2540: Problem printing with HP deskjet 2540

    Hello world.

I need assistance with my printer. Sorry but I am not English native language so I hope you will understand everything.

I have a HP deskjet printer and Windows 8 2540.

The problem is that when you're printing suddenly stops printing. But if I try to print single pages, it prints again.

When it stops print anything in the print queue as if she have all the.

It usually occurs with the PDF file.

I tried to search on the hp support page and I followed the instructions about to disable the printer spooler because maybe can give problem while printing, I did it but when I tried to print again the computer give me a message like this "If you want to print you need to install a printer" but it is not uninstalled the printer, its status is "ready to print".

Can you help me please? Because I do not understand, and he is not the first time that the printer give me problem while printing.

Thank you and sorry for my bad English

    Viviana

    @ViviHika

    You are welcome.

Unless you disable the print spooler service, it will restarts when you then start / restart the computer.  In almost all cases, it is a good thing.

You can find the startup type control:

Control Panel > display icon > Administrative Tools > Services >

Services opens > defiler scroll down, find the print spooler > right-click on print spooler click >

Opens properties > startup type: > select from the menu:

    • Automatic
    • Automatic (delayed start)
    • Manual
    • People with disabilities

    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

You can, if you wish, change the options in the print spooler > Properties > recovery tab

One of the most interesting Print Recovery options: restart the computer

    • Restart the computer may be initiated at the first, second, or one point of future failure.

"Restart the computer" (without the clearing of the PRINTERS folder) can be used to stop and restart the spooler then (at startup).  The restart procedure could allow 'stuck' print jobs to resume printing.

The option "Restart the computer" could be useful in a situation printing is a main function of the computer and the printer is supposed to work without supervision / outside normal office hours.

When you configure the "Restart the computer" option, you can enable "actions for stops with errors."  For example, you can send a message to the computers on the network, which indicates the computer will be restarted within a certain time.

  • DeskJet 1050 J410: HP Deskjet 1050 J410 intermittent printing problem

My printer has an intermittent problem where when something is being printed, a line will have the empty right in the middle of it (you can see part of the printed information line above and below the Virgin part).   About ninety percent of the lines print correctly.   Even if the cartridge still had ink, I replaced them - this has not fixed the problem, so I thought that the printer was bad.

This is where it gets strange:

Some time ago I bought an another Deskjet 1050 J410 (it was on sale and I wanted a backup).  I replaced the active printer with the new printer, thinking the problem would probably solve themselves.   Guess what?  It does the same thing as the old printer.   It doesn't seem to matter what I print (emails, documents,...).

Thinking that it must be something in the processor (motherboard, printer card?), I turned off the system and left on the printer, then copied a page on the printer as a test.    It is also the same problem.  So now that I'm back to thinking, it is a printer problem.   But how the new printer could have the same problem as the old printer?

Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it?

I ran the diagnostics HP (HP Print and Scan Doctor) and no problems were found.

I also ran the HP (alignment, cleaning cartridges and printer) Toolbox.

Is there a software that is loaded directly on the printer and could that be the cause of the problem?

P.S. before I met this problem about 1 week ago, I had used the printer for more than 2 years and not had this problem.

Jamieson, of the Forum of Support HP team sent me an email with a link that has several steps to correct the problem, I did.   I am very pleased to report that my problem has been corrected.    Jamieson, Bravo.  You have made my day. Keep up the good work.     I'm curious to know what caused this problem to occur.

Say the HP support? Often with an HP printer, the solution the easiest is to unplug the printer, uninstall the HP printer via Add/Remove, runDisk cleaning software and restart. Then download/install latest drivers/software from HP and only connect the printer when the installation says.

Of course its possible allways the printer failed.

  • Deskjet 960C printer problem

This printer worked perfectly with my Windows 7 system until a few days ago.  Now, it takes about 15 minutes to print a page - even time if black and white or color.  I don't know where to start troubleshooting.  Would it be a of the automatic updates of the system which is at the origin of the printing problem?

    Thanks for any help.

Try printing a test page by pressing the button resume 5 seconds. If this page is slow to, it might be a cartridge problem. Get out them of the printer and check the date on the cartridges.

  • HP DeskJet F4583: Problem to put in place my HP DeskJet F4583 in windows 10 wireless

    Hello!

A month ago, I upgraded my computer Acer laptop win 7 to win 10. My Deskjet f4583 was working properly before when he was on win 7, but since I've updated to win 10 it doesn't. before winning 10 upradagion I have no internet, so I used my printer on its own network and it used to work properly. but now I have the internet connection... should I connect my printer with the same network to use my laptop? My husband is not in favour of linking it to the bcz network, that he used to use it wireless with this connection on the same network, when we have internet with win 7.  Please help me solve this problem, because I have to print a lot of animals associated with my work that are pending since last week... Please help me!

    Hi @MrsAbbaS,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand that after upgrade to Windows 10, you encounter a communication problem with your printer. I would like to help.

I got a little confused when reading your post. You said that he was working with Win 7, but you had no internet. Then, you said that you now have internet but your husband doesn't want the printer connected to the same network, because it worked when you have internet with win 7?  When you use the Windows 7 operating system I'm not sure if you have internet or not.

Well. Sure no impact with troubleshooting. If the printer and computer must be connected to the same network.

Set up your printer for a wireless network for printers HP Deskjet F4580 all-in-one and F4583

If the printer is on the same network as the computer and you still cannot print, try the following links.

  • Strange photo printing problem.

Windows 7 SP1 runs on a home-built PC (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400/Nvidia 8600GT) my printer is a HewlettPackard Deskjet 1050 A., I'm having a problem very strange printing photos and other images.

If the image is stored on my PC, it will print only in shades of gray, well that the images display correctly in color on the monitor. Images printed directly from the internet using "file > print" in the menu of the browser print in color.

Diagnostic and test pages print in color, as expected. Color of text prints correctly. In "Printing Options", "Print in grayscale" is disabled. I thought initially a printer problem, but printer diagnosis and convenience stores to find nothing wrong.

I think that the problem must be in the attributes or properties of the image, but I don't know where to begin the search in order to find a solution.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

    Gary,

In addition to answering the question about the types of files which are giving you the problem, what program you use to view and print the files saved on your computer?

If you are using the Windows Photo Viewer (Windows 7 by default), see--> http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/jpegs-only-print-in-black-and-white-via-the-image/b9c1a406-b046-48d3-b9c3-ab23279c8b3a

  • Cannot install hp deskjet printer 2540 Windows XP

You just bought the HP Deskjet 2540. The printer installed on Vista without a hitch and everything works well.

BUT I can not install hp deskjet printer 2540 on my Windows XP. I get an error that says ' Broadcom 802.11 network adapter g no driver selected for the device set or set information.»

Any suggestions to help me install on Windows XP would be appreciated.

    Hello billgrazia,

    Welcome to the forums.

I understand that you are not able to install your Deskjet 2540 on your Windows XP system, but you were able to install it on your Vista system. I would suggest a step to try.

    Perform a clean boot:

Step 1: Open the System Configuration utility

Click Start and run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
Step 2: Configure selective startup options

In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click the general tab, and then click Selective startup.
Click to clear the process SYSTEM. INI file check box.
Click to clear the process GAIN. INI file check box.
Click to uncheck the box load startup items. Check that load System Services and use Original BOOT. INI are checked.
    Click the Services tab.
Click to select the hide all Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable all, and then click OK.
When you are prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.

Seen here boot steps: how to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

Then, try to install the printer, while the start up programs are turned off: 2540 Deskjet HP all-in-One Printer series full feature software and drivers

If it does not help with the installation successfully, run it the Microsoft Fix it tool: the problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled and then try to install.

Once the installation is complete, go back to clean boot instructions to relight the start up programs.

    I hope this helps,

    Kind regards
