HP3521: HPLIP install not on Linux Mint 18 with XFCE

I try to install HPLIP on a laptop Dell Latitude D510 with Linux MInt 18 with freshly installed XFCE.  Towards the end of the HPLIP installation, I get the following error message:

Printer driver HP HPLIP installs not entirely:

RE-CHECKING DEPENDENCIES
————————
error: a required dependency "libtool (libtool - library support services building)" is still missing.
error: Setup cannot continue without this dependence.
error: Please manually install this dependency and re-run this installer.

How 'manually install' this dependence and continue installing HPLIP?  The printer will print with the usb cord but I can't print or scan wireless. The hp-setup 192.168.1.117 command no longer works...

Thank you.

apt - get install libtool-bin

It worked.  HPLIP now installs fine.  The problem is perhaps hplip - 3.16.7.run.  You can check...

  • VMWare Workstation 12 and 18 of Linux Mint (Ubuntu 16.04) and vmware tools or open-vmware-tools

I created a new virtual machine using VMWare Workstation 12.1.1 build-3770994 with a guest OS from Linux Mint 18 (which is built on top of Ubuntu 16.04). I have two monitors on my system, the two 2560 x 1440. I am unable to get this virtual machine Linux Mint 18 to cover all of my two monitors when I disable "Accelerate 3D graphics" in my vm settings, I get an error. I have another Linux Mint 17 VM running on the same VMWare Workstation 12 on the same host machine from Windows 10 and it is able to expand on my two monitors very well with "Accelerate 3D graphics" disabled, but he does not open-vmware-tools.

I have read instructions telling me to install open-vm-Tools-Office in this guest operating system of Linux Mint 18. I did it. Then I restart the guest operating system. When starting, I can click on 'Enter full screen mode' in my menu of VMWare Workstation, and the guest OS has a monitor as expected. When I then click on "Cycle multiple monitors", I get the following error. "The virtual machine could not be changed to the selected screen layout. If you add a monitor to the host computer, you must turn off and turn on the virtual machine to use this monitor. »

    vmware-monitors-error.jpg

I can optimize my VM to automatic adjustment, only one of my two screens, but not both. I tried to uninstall and reinstall open-vm-tools, open-vm-tools-desktop and restart. I tried to use /vmware-tools-distrib/vmware-install.pl's original vmware tools and who does not work either.

In my vmware.log, I get these two lines that occur when I get the above error.

    2016 07-12 T 15: 43:19.068 - 06:00 | MKS | I125: ToolsSetDisplayTopology: send rpcMsg = 1 DisplayTopology_Set, 0 0 2560 1440

When I activate "Accelerate 3D graphics" with the configuration described above, I am able to use both of my monitors. Why is this the case?

I think remember having to disable "Accelerate 3D graphics" in my Linux Mint 17 comments vm because it would crash randomly. I try to run this VM Linux Mint 18 with 3D acceleration and see if it crashes, but why is there a difference with spanning multiple monitors?

    Thank you.

I didn't experience this problem for a few weeks. I don't have a definitive answer to my original problem.

I installed Mate instead of cinnamon 3 to my MINT 18. Then, I created a new VM with Ubuntu Gnome 3 16.04 running as the OF. I did have problems with both approaches. I also tried using Firefox as my main browser instead of Chrome, as I read that Chrome can have problems of memory. It could be a combination of several of these changes that have allowed me to work without problems.

Knowing what I know now, I think the move away from cinnamon 3 is what seems to have fixed my problems. I can certainly say that you use Firefox consumes less memory, as I can monitor the monitor system under Ubuntu. Chrome would eventually eat all my system memory, that I could see. The extent of the why? I'm not sure at this point.

  • All-in-one Deskjet 4535: Deskjet 4535 AIO - Scanner function not supported in Linux Mint 17.3?

I just bought the all-in-one Deskjet 4535. As I could not set up in Linux Mint 17.3 using hplip 3.15.2 and hplip-gui (it wouldn't appear in the peripheral installation dialog box), I used the utility printers (system-config-printer) and configured through CUTS. Even then, I was forced to use the driver 4510, as a driver of 4530 series does not seem to exist.
After having done that, I can print it, but I can't use the "Simple Scan" scanner or any other utility to scan.
I also tried to detect the network with xsane Analyzer, but it would not detect it.

The only way to use the scanner is via the web interface, the all-in-one offers fortunately.

Is there something else to try? The 4535 is supported under Linux or am I out of luck?

Well, I went to hplip.sourceforge.net and I should have started with it in the first place. I solved the "problem" in downloading and installing the latest version of hplip that supports the 4535 entirely. The repo of Linux Mint has an outdated version of hplip and 4535 needs at least version 3.5.11 to work properly. Use the latest version fixed it immediately.

  • How to install check speller of the Serbian language in Linux Mint

Hello, I use Thunderbird 31.6.0 on my Linux Mint 17. I tried to follow the instructions that are on this web site to install dictionaries new Auditors of spelling, but it does not work. It is said that it is not available for my platform. However on my Windows computer it says that this version is not supported. In the comments of this page in someone explained workaround. You need to download the add-on, rename the .zip extension, unzip it and copy the files unpacked in C:/Program Files/Mozilla Thunderbird/dictionaries. I did and it worked!

Is it possible to do a similar thing with Thunderbird for Linux Mint?

I wanted to do the same trick but I didn't know where is the Linux dictionaries folder.
I did some research on Google and understand. So here's how to do it:

    1. go on here https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/%D1%81%D1%80%D0%BF%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B8-%D1%80%D0%B5%D1%87%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%BA-serbian-dictiona/

    2. right click > save link as
    3. you will get a file as, rename the file and be sure to make it .zip
    4. unzip the
    5. in this new folder as you open dictionaries folder and copy all the files you have there
6 open your file manager and go to/usr/lib/firefox/dictionaries
7 stick y files you just cope, you do need to root premison to do so then right click in the window > open as root and then paste it

That's it, you'll have dictionaries for Firefox and Thunderbird.

  • topic: Home Search does not work in Linux Mint 15

I recently installed a new copy of Linux Mint 15 (Cinnemon). It comes pre-packaged with Firefox, but after setting the homepage back to the default (subject: House), I noticed that the search bar on this page did not work. By this I mean that the form has not provided or by pressing Enter or clicking on the ' search ' button.

I deleted all the Add-ons, removed and reinstalled Firefox several times, tried the Reset, and deleted, then recreated function profiles manually reset the options of configuration by default and any other thing I could think of. Nothing did.

Some users of a similar question mentioned that helped chromeappsstore.sqlite deleted, but this file is never created for me. In addition, localStorage ["search-engine"] is not defined according to the console, but Google is defined as the defaultenginename.

Any ideas on what else to try?

See you again all search engines in manage search engines?

You can check if you have the XML files including Google's default search engine in the browser/searchplugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

If this isn't the case, then you need to reinstall Firefox.

  • How to install VMware tools correctly on Linux Mint 15 cinnamon on Fusion 5.0.3

    Hello

First of all, I understand that Linux Mint is not supported (side: anyone know if this will change?), so I appreciate any help.  My main problem is with the folders shared

    Dead ends

So far, I've run into some dead ends:

    1. I watched install VMware Tools in Linux Mint 15 cinnamon (Olivia) - YouTube - but this facility has been the "'VMware Workstation 9.0.2 ' and the author admits"I don't know if it works or not with the fusion." "

2 I downloaded a a copy of the latest vmwaretools for linux of deposit of CDS - /www/stage/session-32/cds/vmw-desktop/fusion/5.0.3/1040386/packages only to find it was exactly the same as the package vmwaretools this merger gives me at least VMwareTools - 9.2.2 - 893383

    Some success

I had some mild success by running the following commands before installing - it seems to stop error messages:

    apt-get update

    sudo apt-get install build-essential

    sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`

    sudo apt-get install xinetd

    But my MAJOR PROBLEM IS...

When I try to activate the shared folders while the guest is running, I see a message:

    VMware folder sharing failure.jpg

Or if I turn on shared folders when the guest does NOT work, I don't get an error message - but I don't see either record hgfs under/MNT

    Other research

I read can't see the shared folders in Linux guest (Windows host) and Re: sharing files on drive betw host and the guest does not work on Ubuntu 13.04 and even tried to run the script vmtoolspatch of WoodyZ of this post - with the following result:

    user@GNS3WB62 /tmp/vmware-tools-distrib $ ./vmtoolspatch

To install VMware Tools type the following

    cd /tmp/vmware-tools-distrib

But after the installation of the VMware shared folders tools has not always worked.

    My plea

Someone has successfully shared folder with Linux Mint 15 cinnamon (32 bit - no codecs) invited 5.0.3 fusion and if so could you share the steps that you used?

    My system Details

I tried this using VMware Fusion 5.0.3 in both a

MacMini running Lion Server (OS X 10.7.5) 2 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a

MacBook Pro running 2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo 8 GB DDR3 (OS X 10.8.4) Mountain Lion

I have only this tried using Linux Mint 15 cinnamon (32 bit - no codecs)

Well, starting with the basic installation created by using the linuxmint-15-cinnamon-dvd-nocodecs-32bit.iso image under VMware Fusion 5.0.3 I did the following.

sudo apt - get install linux-headers-$(uname-r)

    sudo ln-s/usr/src/linux-headers-$ (uname-r)/include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h /usr/src/linux-headers-$(uname-r)/include/linux/version.h

Excerpt from vmtoolspatch.zip in my Home Directory.

Excerpt from the VMware Tools VMwareTools - 9.2.2 - 893683.tar.gz to: / tmp

Open a Terminal, by default, the base directory, then:

    wkz@linuxmint15x86nc ~ $. / vmtoolspatch

    patch the file driver.c

    patching file inode.c

To install VMware Tools, type the following command

    commands, pressing ENTER after each:

    CD/tmp/vmware-tools-distrib

    sudo./VMware-install.pl

    wkz@linuxmint15x86nc ~ $ cd/tmp/vmware-tools-distrib

    wkz@linuxmint15x86nc/tmp/vmware-tools-distrib $ sudo./vmware-install.pl

Once VMware Tools have been installed, I rebooted and had access to the VMware shared folders.

So it works with the basic install however I do not run apt - get update then apt - get upgrade or use one kernel other then the default.  So once the changes then the scrip may not work and I don't have time to test each variable and am just trying to give some automated solution just to make it easier to patch based on what is said in the Notes section in the script.  Really don't want to maintain it and others can build on this and or do something similar.

Make sure that the stamp of Date/time on the file vmtoolspatch is Jul 15 00:04:00 2013 as who has worked with this test.

  • Unable to connect to ANY account in Linux Mint 17 64-bit ("Configuration could not be verified - is the name of user or wrong password?")

So after working all day to get my OS to work together I tried to use Thunderbird on my Linux Mint 17 64-bit. Entering my details, Thunderbird says they're wrong. I checked and checked several times that they are right. I looked around and the farm, I could find what it's useful about my question was a post about something similar on Linux Mint 16 64-bit when all what it says was "reset firewall gateway", which is not exactly the most useful thing. Either by the way, I also reset the router everything and even CHECKED that nothing has been blocked through it and as far as the linux firewall goes, I do not have or have not activated it AFAIK. I'm quite new to Linux in general so I need something that is quite easy to understand in what terms a solution, assuming that everyone knows. I'd like to get this to work because it is pretty well the last obsticle in my own way. If anyone knows anything that might help, please share! Thank you!

    Configuration could not be verified

This seems to indicate a problem when setting up the account.
But according to your troubleshooting information an account already exists.
Please confirm that you do when getting this error.

    I also implemented audit 2-step

Set up a password for specific application according to the instructions of Google and use it.

The router will not accept authentication if the Firefox browser is set to 'Sites of Tell I want to be the subject of a follow-up'. Strange, but it seems to be a long-standing oopsie in the Linksys/Cisco software.

Under Firefox 18.0.1 (running under Linux Mint), there is a checkbox entitled: sites say I won't be the subject of a follow-up. Located under Edit > Preferences > privacy

I checked it and YES! My connection to the router WRT120N works now.

    Thank you very much indeed!
