For a HPE-475UK, can I replace the internal WD1001FAES 7200 rpm 1 TB Caviar Black HD with a 1 to Caviar Green 5400 RPM? Whatever it is will have to change the motherboard if you use the lower speed device?

Thank you very much

No, you won't have to make any configuration changes.

I don't really know what that NTI, but I would not trust this application with your files. Back up your files REGULARLY, it's something you can do already, not only to replace your hard drive. And that means understand where all your important files and using an easy to keep on a separate hard drive backup program.

= Backup all important files are on two drives separated at all times

Archives = backup files to a permanent location, such as a CD or DVD, in a location separate from your computer.

  • HP Pavilion 15 laptop: Short DST check failure hard drive?

I've had this laptop since around to last August and so far he has played normally without any problems. However, this morning the phone became unusable as it would freeze whenever I tried to open anything after the start. Because I could not activate McAfee security, which I do have but have had disabled for almost a month or two because he slowed a little games I rarely use all dangerous Web sites, I have activated the diagnostic system and quickly an error is found with the DST Hard Drive, with the UCWFXL error code - M 7, 7834 - MFPWL1 - 60VM03. I'm not entirely sure what this question means, but I clearly have to solve in order to make use of the laptop again. Since it is a problem of hard drive, this means the hard drive needs to be replaced? Don't assume that someone could tell me what measures should be considered now? Hello

Error code 24 characters confirm they failed short Self Test disk failure and would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.  This is also consistent with the problems you describe.

As your laptop is less than a year, he should still under warranty, so contact HP and arrange for the replaced disk - if necessary, you can check the status of your warranty here.

  • Compatible HARD drive need for my Satellite L655 - 1 6

    Hey everybody,

my 4 year old Satellite L655 1 g 6 has recently had some problems and the hard drive needs to be replaced.
Does anyone know about a cheap substitute that should not necessarily be the Toshiba?

I don't want to do a SSD hard drive, as this laptop is old enough, and the cost for the ssd would not depreciate in the next years.
Would be very grateful to hear some opinions/suggestions :)

    -Thanks in advance

In general you need is of 2.5 HARD drive with connector SATA and these drives, you can find in every store of the computer. Pick up some info on the proposed models, capacities and prices so that you can make a decision that you want to buy.
    > I don't want to do a SSD hard drive, as this laptop is old enough, and the cost for the ssd would not depreciate in the next years.
In my opinion it's the wrong opinion. Using SSD increase you the performance of laptop computer s quickly and were very quick machine. One day if you do not want to use this laptop, you can remove the SSD and put old HDD inside. SSD can be used on the new machine.
For me, it's the best solution for you.

Last year I've improved my 4 years old P500 with SSD and I m very happy with it. The price was only 149 Euros. It's OK price. Change the HARD drive is not complicated and you can do it alone.

I would like to know what purchasable HARD drive units are available for this particular laptop model?

Can I use any SATA 2.5 "portable HARD drive as a replacement disk or the Toshiba marked those are suitable exclusively?

    > Could I use any SATA 2.5 "portable HARD drive as a replacement disk or the Toshiba marked those are suitable exclusively?

Yes, usually all 2.5 SATA hard drives must be compatible, since the SATA controller is compatible and even if you want to use a SATA II or SATA III HARD drive, the laptop must be able to manage this device.
But of course, the performance would be limited to SATA I

How can I identify a defective internal hard drive to be replaced on a macpro 2009 beginning el capitan running

A good starting point is the Information System (Option while clicking the Menu Apple key). At the hardware level, click on Express SATA/SATA and look for the SMART State in the bottom right pane for each HD listed in the upper pane right. Unless the State is OK, looks like not verified. If the drive is totally dead, search for a missing list for a drive Bay, you know is filled.

  • HP Recovery Kit will re - install Vista if hard drive has been replaced?

Hello everyone, this is my first post so I hope that I understand.

I bought a HP Pavilion s3050uk of second hand compact office, product number RY930AA.

The only OS on it is a trial version of Windows 7 Ultimate, little time to expire.  I knew when I bought but I was just able to reinstall Vista Home Premium using the HP Recovery Kit and the number of product key from the COA on the PC sticker.

However, I think now that the HARD drive has been replaced at some point - my machine has a 200 GB (Seagate ST3200822AS ATA) and I think that these machines haven't shipped with a 250 GB?  Now, I'm worried that I will pass on the recovery kit but it won't reinstall Vista because the hardware has been changed.  If it is probably the case of others has experience then I may as well save my money (which is very tight at the moment, where the 2nd hand PC) and put it toward the purchase of an operating system package full.

Hope someone is able to advise me.

    Thank you

    Stephen

  • Computer failure, hard drive readable: can not find the 5 Lightroom Catalog.

Computer failure, hard drive readable: can not find the 5 Lightroom Catalog. Help appreciated.

I used 5.3 LR on Win7, never pay attention in the name of the catalog used. My photo files were on the same physical hard disk D: partition.

Now that I have a new computer Intel NUC, with Win7 installed on drive C: (SSD M.2), I plugged my old drive hard drive E: (old C :) and drive F (old d :))

I have re-installed LR 5.3 and also upgraded to LR 6, , but the problem is that I can't find the catalog I was using with LR 5.3

I searched for *.lrcat and see all previous catalogues lightroom starting with LR 2, 3, 4, 5, getting bigger and bigger, but not catalog 5 including the current date.

The catalog would have another name or extension?

I have the old C: drive. Is there a config file that would confirm where the catalogue is supposed to be?

    Help!

HM, it is clear that it is not found on your old C: (so E :). )

And there is no config file to tell where to find the catalog to Lightroom. It's just that the catalog is in the place you choose (most of the people chose to have the catalog to the location by default...).

There is no download available on the Net and your hard drive as failed now, you are unable to make the recovery of the disks.

  • Hard drive needs to be replaced

Dell Diagnostics says I need to replace the hard drive.  I have two that is faulty?  The error message is o-s/n-wd-wcatr7339737

Dell diagnostics (F12 at startup) will tell you which drive has failed.

If both disks are part of a RAID 0 array, you can consider replacing both of them - they are both the same age and likely came from the same production batch, which means that it is very possible that the other player may not long to live, either.

  • Replace broken HARD drive: need a

Hi, I have a desktop HP Pavilion h6310y, Win7(x64). 6 GB ram, 1 TB WD HDD.

The drive has crashed. He was giving me problems for a while now, but now he's dead. I ran diagniostics standard hp bios on it.

    Error code: BIOHD - 1

Error: Fail to communicate with the device.

    Contact HP support.

The computer and the drive is out of hub, so I'll just have to replace.

I can go to Amazon and buy a.

    But my question is:

    1. do I need a disk with Windows7? (I have no cause).

The computer would have a partition on the hard disk with it.

    2. I did the DVD of recovery before it crashed, as the system image on the external hard drive. This will be enough to reinstall?

or I have to order DVD of Win7?

    3. How can I order the DVD if I need one? I wanted to call HP and ask, but they will supposedly, charge me to ask, because I'm out of warranty.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Michael

    Hi Michael,

To answer your questions in order.

    1. everything you need to buy is a new hard drive.

    2. you can use your recovery DVDs to reload the operating system on the new HARD drive, or the best option would probably be to load the Disk Image as this will reload Windows in the exact state wherever it was when the image was created.

    3. If you ever need to, you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00810334

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

  • HP dv9000 vista laptop won't start. Cannot 'fix '; BIOS Diagnostics: all GOOD except Hard Drive check result: replace the hard drive NEED the data from this hard drive!

HP dv9000 vista laptop won't start. Attempt to restore repair result several times cannot be made online. BIOS ran diagnostics, everything was good except the hard disk, hd chk result: replace the hard drive. F11 entered to access advanced hp Recovery Manager options tempted towards the top of the entire disk, all files show while listing to back up, attached to my external hard drive current over the back with success.  Plugged external on another laptop, new files since the previous backup are no where.  Should I buy a new external hard drive and repeat the backup via Recovery Manager Advanced Options or should I remove the internal hard disk and insert it into a case and apply in usb on another laptop to view the files.  I know when my computer crashed, I had too many windows/tabs open and too much process and tried to interrupt a process and I confused his little brain and now he has Alzheimer's disease.  I am freaked because I'll lose everything 2012 including some very important documents and about 50 000 pictures HD (yes I learned my lesson backup!) I am in crisis mode because I recently became sick and my photos and documents is vital for my next year of chemotherapy and radiation. Please advice are extremely appreciated. Thank you

    Hello

This backup after pressing F11 is a HP backup option, not a Microsoft option.

I suggest that you contact HP or ask their Support Forums.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/

It's the normal advice I'd give to record data; but we have no idea of the State of your hard drive.

    Saving your files:

You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.

Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.
