Bad power connector

Recently bought a Mac Mini 2014 opportunity. Did anyone notice that their power connector is loose? When I received it Thursday it popped so I really pushed and he seemed to be very tight. I shook so much that I could barely get out today. When I went to reconnect, I only close it partially in order to disconnect easier if necessary and you worry nothing break. Love the machine so far but it's just a minor annoyance.

You will need to inspect the end of the cord that fits inside the power supply of the computer

and compare it with a new power cord for damage. The socket inside the computer

is another matter; What wrong with this hand, is a more difficult task.

There is a fairly well documented process of access to food, as seen

in the iFixit.com repair guides for computer model of Mac Mini 2014. I looked inside.

So if the power cord itself seems incorrect from a new replacement, then

It may be wise to consider purchasing another cord of correct specification.

My end of 2012 Mac Mini has a similar cord with a built-in power supply, it is not a

You can do a lot. The guide repair above shows that is taking part of the diet.

Or would be if you were to heal the problem here. I rarely move my Mini once

It is in a position of work and power; If did not find a problem with it disconnected.

In any case...

Good luck & happy computing!

I have a Satellite Pro L300 - 152 unit, which is out of warranty.
I have a bad power connector, it has been pushed back and be dislodged from his seat or brocken cradel is within the computer.

I am trying to remove the back to see if the power connector can be repaired or remains in its cradle.
I removed all the screws and all devices, but can not get it off the computer.

There seems to be something with the keyboard, which I took.

    Can you help me?

To fix the power connector the whole notebook must be disassembled and you must have access to the motherboard. Disassembly procedure is not complicated if you have maintenance manuals and instructions.
To have full access to the motherboard, you must remove all the screws from the underside and also all the screws under the keyboard. You will then be able to separate the notebooks and disassemble the upper.

Tell me exactly what you have removed so far?

  • DV 6910us the bad power cord connector

My laptop HP Dv6910us has developed a problem with the connection of the power cord into the computer.  Central Post Office of the computer seems to be sure.  Problem is that when the power is connected, you must screw the connector, crossed their fingers and maybe blue light to indicate the power of the computer turns on.  We tried another power supply not HP and it worked for a few months, and then the same problem occurred.

Is it possible to replace or repair the HP power connector that goes into the laptop?

    Hello

External review of the power jack on the laptop wouldn't tell you thing.

A multimeter connector on the external adapter test will be.

So if there is output voltage of son but not the connector of the AC adapter it should be able to go to an electronics parts place, and get a replacement.

If this are the results of his test, why not just ask him if he can take the power adapter to the store, find a matching connector and replace. ?

  • poorly supplied power connector

Just got my thunderbolt and macbook pro screen, but a little puzzled that the laptop power connector that comes out of the back of the display unit is for a macbook not a macbook pro (see photo below of the Web page) - confused.

Am I missing something? I don't remember when put my order together that I had to say anything... Do I need an adapter?

Well, the MagSafe connector was used by the old MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, but Apple MagSafe 2 released later and recent Macs have more than the connector. However, you can get the MagSafe adapter MagSafe2 to use this port, assuming that you have a MacBook Pro with the Retina display.

  • Satellite A30 151: motherboard power connector broken

I have an old toshiba A30-151 that has fallen down a while a go because of the power connector snap into the power socket. This had happened before at the back of the power supply, but I managed to solder back together. Unfortunately it broke again and has so the PIN inside the socket.

So after having managed to get into the nitty gritty of the laptop and have the motherboard out, I had a replacement for welded to the. Problem is there is a missing piece. I have a picture of this here:

    http://i150.Photobucket.com/albums/S83/Dalio1984/motherboard.jpg

It was a picture of him before you put the Jack on. The chip missing normally goes where the right red circle is. Now I have not tested yet cause I have to go through the process of implementation of back together which is tomorrow nights work. I was wondering if it will work without it, if I can get a replacement part for this, or if I could figure out what it is (for example a resistor) replace it with a piece of stock to its equivalent.

I realize this is probably a little extreme, but any help in this matter would be appreciated.

    Hello

A figured out if this will work without this chip?

I don t think that someone here in the forum will be able to give you an answer exactly.
The drawing of the motherboard is necessary and that these documents are not easy to find because the manual are not:(pour usage public)

So I hope you can find more information in internet

  • Workstation HP Z620 dual xeon: really only 1 6-pin power connector on the graphics card?

    Hello

I have a question about the HP Z620 workstation.

recently bought a dual xeon with 960 GTX installed on the 6-pin connector.

as I can't find any other power to use nor on the power connector

or nowhere on the set, I wonder how a graphics card must be powered only

    needs

    1 x 8-pin

    or

    1 x 8-pin + 6 pins

    or

    2 x 8 pin?

I know there are some discussions about this in this forum, but I did not understand

the solution. Some said there are adapters to go 6-pin to 8 pin (or 6pin to 2x8pin)?

    But how is that possible?

like many, I know, 75 watts are max of the pci-e connection, 75 other watts Max for 1x6pin.

so plug any adapter, 1x6pin for graphics cards that need much more power would be

According to the standard / danger, right?

and what about graphical installation double?

would be happy if someone around could help me with this.

    best regards

    Chris

The search box on this page by default search only this forum, and it is very convenient.  If you type "extra", you will find a lot of info.

The Z620 has two of these 6-pin cable, and HP got creative and molded into two empty containers down to the black plastic fan holder before.  So, one is being used by you and the second is sitting there plugged and similar, it is used, but it is stored just it did nothing... the fan is powered differently.

These extra HP 6 - pin PCIe power cables are not standard ATX... they are better.  The ATX standard is 75 watts can go up to the card out of the slot, and another 75 watts can come via the additional 6-pin cable.  HP 6-pin cable can do a bit more.

This is the message that you want to read, and there there details that were not in any of the HP manuals that I searched through, but the answer was on the label of Z620 power supply.  12V 18A each, plus adding info on some special HP adapters that allow you to take a HP 6-pin and divided to two 6-pin connectors or cable HP 6-pin connector 8 pins.  Watch here.

  • HP Z620: Problem of auxiliary graphic workstation HP Z620 pci-e power connectors

I want to fit my new GPU Z620 workstation card. I see that there are two auxiliary pci - e power connectors on the plastic support. I intend to use these two to put my new graphics card but I see potential problems.
The problem is that in these two connectors pinout is not really to PCI-e spec. There are five female terminals to each 6 connector routes. The three terminals in the top row are crushed and two terminals downstairs is 12V. 6 cavity is empty in both connectors. As far as I know the PCI-e power connectors should have 12V power supplied to cavity n ° 4 and n ° 6 of cavity. What I have to manually change these two connectors pinout and move terminal 12V from cavity to cavity no.6 no.5 or there may be a few HP adapter that could solve this problem?

    connectors

Only HP knows what HP has designed (and why) and as such, it cannot be assumed simply that a connector on a system is consistent with the 'standards' and not a "psudo owner" Connector (as seems to be the case with your PEG connector that is missing pin #3).

Normally, a PEG 2 connector x 3 can provide 75W and as such, each 12V pin provides 1/3 of the power budget. This means that the HP "psydo owner" PEG connector, for lack of a better term, may not be able to supply 50W (if each ping is kept for the same current capabilities used in the standard 2 x 3 plug PEG).

Then, this suggests the Z620 can only support a 175W graphics cards (with 75W of PCIe + 50W of each of the two 2 x 3 PEG connectors). Note that the standard allows graphics cards to 225W pulling 75W of the slot PCIe and 75W of each PEG 2 connector x 3!

Thus, quantify this is to watch the quickspec for your Z620 and see what graphics cards are certified for use with your system. Then to know what cards are certified for your system, you can check what PEG connectors as appropriate are provided on these certified cards and also check what is their energy consumption. I would guess that all graphics cards that require more juice 175W has not been certified by HP...

Since you say your card draws 165W, this budget of power seems OK during examination of the foregoing. So it should just be a matter of connect the two connectors of the PEG 2 x 3 and all should be well.

However, it you want a card more powerful, purely based on the fact that a standard 2 x 4 connector PEG can power 150W using three-pin 12V, this would indicate that each pin can supply 50W. Assuming that the pins used in a conector of PEG 2 x 3 and 2 x 4 are the same, a 2 x 3 with only two pins 12V power connector could in theory provide 100W each. So you could in theory use a 275W card into the PCIe slot with your 2 psudo owner HP PEG connectors. BUT it means something to the pins themselves and that your HP power is up to the task (and can actually provide the necessary 275W power).

And I would say that if you wanted a graphics 225W which is supported by standards, likley it would be a simple mod to the rider 12V among the pins for the vacancy that is normally used by the 3 pin (12V).  I'd be surprised if the block POWER HP of power and wiring could not handle the necessary extra 50W. But maybe it's a little too much for some who enjoy the guarantee.

In any case, without owning a Z620, I would be comfortable in saying that you have no problem with this graphics card 165W and these exclusive hybrid psudo 2 x 3 PEG connectors as is

(Heck, I don't got no problem with a 35W graphics card in a slot PCIe capable of 25W of my Dell T610 server that only supports the graphs via the inetgrated adapter)...

But really, who knows why only two used HP pin 12V in their PEG connectors, maybe they used the best quality PINE and they were not sufficient for the cards, they chose to certify. Maybe save 2 cents for a less pin was a driving force... HP only knows what HP...

  • Broken power connector? Where to find one?

    Hello

the delayed of my thoshiba satellite is broken.
    Where can I find one?

    Thank you.

    Hi Michel,.

This is the power connector on the power supply that is broken, or is the connector at the back of the laptop you?

If it's your laptop then it is normally soldered on the motherboard and will result in the replacement of the motherboard unless you can find a suitable replacement connector and try to re - solder it.

If the adapter connector, you can cut the broken one and weld on a replacement that you should be able to get most of the spare parts electric stockists. Ensure that you get the correct polarity since it is DC current.

Thank you...

    TAAA, welcome to the forum.

Great choice of computer.  I have the 810-135qe Phoenix.  This is a very good for gaming.  I did it faster by adding an SSD.

Here is the page of Product Specifications .  If you look at the section "Berries", it shows that there are 2-5, 25 "and 3 - 3.5 drive bays".  For this reason, I am sure that there are additional power connectors.  I'll check my computer when I have the time to see how many are available and report back.

HP A1150Y.  When I plug my power supply in my motherboard light at the back of the PSU goes off and nothing happens.  Ths would be something else than to a bad power supply.  I blew a video card one day while I was at work.  I came home and pc was switched off and could not turn it off.  Open upward and the fan had blown completely off the map.  Must have got too hot.  So are unable to turn it on and noticed the light spinning when I plugged it in.  All thoughts.
